Hi everyone, my friend needs to go too but is scared she will get denied if she applies for visa with doctores para letters, she applied in January with her husband for vacation and they were denied. She is wondering if to apply with her husband and mother now or just her mother. I told her about this forum and she pleaded that I plead with you guys to advice her. Thanks

Finally gotten the chance to give my testimony, I had my twins @ MIHS a boy and a girl, birth certificate, U.S. Passport and Nigerian visa ready on time and we were back to Nigeria just few days short of one month. It's been a busy period running around with my toddler and the twins but I had to squeeze out time to say a big thank you to this forum . So sad about your experience but anyways, the grapevine says they are not really attending to foreign mamas anymore, so perhaps it's a blessing in disguise?

Me I have paid my bills to them o and 'afraid' catch me when I saw that post but I have prayed and handed myself and my unborn kids to God almighty because I doubt I can get a refund now. By His grace, I shall testify

Hi Peeps,
Just purchased Ogi from a nearby store. It's distributed by a company in houston (for mums that enquired the other time). It's about $4.

Ogi was also discussed during antenatal classes yday (Breastfeeding). The neonatal nurse observed many african mothers produced more milk than usual and it has been attributed to something called Ogi. I chirped in that we actually use it in africa to enhance breastmilk flow.
She asked if it was available in US, and I volunteered to check. Voila, it's in my neighbourhood store! grin

I hate Ogi sha, need to start practicing how to eat it before baby comes.

Please will custard from Nigeria do the same job as ogi? My mum packed custard because last time my breast refused producing enough milk for one and now we are expecting double

Why not try the smaller clinics option? A friend that gave birth at Ben taub used a health center for her pre natal classes

Ok,thank you very much. I was a bit skeptical but I guess it will be better than the two weeks long wait.

Just manage my sis,its not ideal situation you'd want or expect but what other options are there after doing the great trek from naija? All is well. Take care.

It isn't at all. If not the long distance traveled, money spent on hotel bills and all already I would have ported elsewhere because at least I had a better testimony during my son's birth @ El paso. I pray things improve after my first doctor's appointment though.

Overcorrect dey worry you!!

Its posts like this that drives home the point that this thread is home to almost 75% of "GUESTS" on this forum & why bandwagon sets in as soon as ANYTHING is mentioned.

Little wonder MHIS is overwhelmed & even turning back "customers"...

@EVERYONE,

& I mean everyone, its days to porting & I've dotted my Is & crossed my Ts save for baby's PP consent form for unavailable parents.

I've gotten useful info from helpful members of this wonderful thread but unlike Lagos the high court (back of fed secretariat) I know in Abuja does not encourage charge & bail loiterers & the lawyers I know with chambers, I don't want to approach...

@Abuja folks,

How did you navigate this slippery slope? cos I'm one tiny step away from going to UTC Area 10 to get myself a seal & manufacture stamp as well.. grin

Hi everyone,
I just got back from my financial appointment at Mihs. I paid my bills and was given a doctor's appointment for two weeks time. I tried bringing it forward but was told the only option was to use any of their smaller clinics for my prenatal classes so I guess I have to wait for two whole weeks.

shawbabe are u saying it's cheaper and better to just get the Nigerian passport. But if you want to come with the baby next time you will have to go and apply for USA visa in Nigeria. Also the benefit that baby can travel to some countries without visa will be forfeited

Getting a Nigerian passport doesn't in anyway stop you from getting a US passport. You are to get both there or if you are in a state far from those with the Nigeria passport office,u could use a visa instead.

If not for free board,occassional chauffeur, familiar faces & having locked down ticket & healthcare provider ages ago, I would have just made a U-turn to houston or phoenix!!

Na Psalm I go dey invoke on their heads..

@Happymum,
I have both GT & Fidelity cards & the GT card has been decommissioned since they've decided to price themselves out of the reach of the average Nigerian... Fidelity too is gradually getting on my nerves as well.

FBN should be ok, but I'm doing stanbic.

Ok, do u think stanbic will be better than first bank? If yes,i don't mind going to open an account with them on Monday because right now I need d bank that offers the cheapest rate

Won't the cross rates kill whatever advantage you get now?

Is your medical bills all CASH like my yeye chicago to compound the scary poe stories.

9,400 cash should take care of your bills I believe & CBN did a 5kobo grin adjustment yesterday so I'm a bit relaxed that the rate will behave till july/august cos this current 197-1999 band has been steady since Feb..

But I'll deny if the rate na deception. grin

The hospital accepts card payment but I was scared of d price of dollar going up but from your analysis I think I should calm down and use my Master card for hospital and hotel bills although I am scared of gtb cards now cos it seems their exchange rate is different. Will try getting a fidelity bank master/visa card

legacy suites 2bdrm $329 + tax+ fees per week
http://www.legacysuitesphx.com/
Get a taxi from the airport should be less than $50 and don't use a particular cab driver for safety reasons - your hotel will have at least 2 or 3 cab company phone numbers they will give you- always call the company
You can use both domiciliary and naira cards - inform your bank/s about your trip - no charges for pos transactions, withdrawals carry transaction and bank fees/charges

Ok, thank you so much

I think the domicilliary card should be fine. I haven't used that of first bank dou. Mine is FCMB dollar Mastercard and dat was the only card I traveled with and it served me well without extra charges on POS but they charge you small interest while loading the dollar into d card. I didn't withdraw cash dou.

Called the banker and he said I need to have dollars to use the dorm card so it boils down to the same thing. Thanks alot

You need to relax and commit your journey into God's hands cos all will be well. Two bedroom cost 999 with tax monthly, you can pay with your ATM or you do money order upon arrival. The best is to get a taxi upon arrival at the airport which I did and it cost me 40 Dollars. When you arrive you can get the number of discount cabs at the reception for ready movement. For me I usebus to go for checkup which cost 4 dollars and you can use your bus pass to anywhere in pphoenix throughout that day. I have only use taxi to go to church and when I have a lot to carry from shopping.

Ok,thank you so much for your response. Will just use the remaining few days to pray and relax b4 my trip now that I have most answers.
