Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court, Enugu on Thursday September 26, 2019 ordered 2face Idibia’s manager, Efe Omorogbe to pay N200,000 cost for what the judge described as ‘forum shopping’ and ‘abuse of court process’.

According to a statement by COSON, Omorogbe had gone to the Federal High Court with an application for the court to strike out the suit filed by several members of COSON led by Victor Uwaifo asking for damages and injunction against Omorogbe for falsely parading himself as Chairman of COSON.

In July 2018, Justice A.M. Liman of the Federal High Court had ordered Efe Omorogbe to stop parading himself as Chairman of COSON. With the order still in force, Efe Omorogbe who had earlier lost an application to stop the suit, filed an appeal at the Court of Appeal in Enugu. Thereafter, he filed another application before Justice Buba at the Federal High Court, Enugu aiming to torpedo the entire action and quash the order against him. On September 26, Justice Buba vehemently disagreed with Mr. Omorogbe’s legal maneuvering and threw out his application and awarded N200,000 cost against him and in favour of the members of COSON.

In reaction to the decision of Justice Buba, Barrister Mike Nnaekpe who represented the members of COSON said that the judge was on point as his decision was in line with countless legal precedents. In his own reaction, Mr. James Ononiwu of the Lagos law firm of Whitedove Solicitors, lawyers to COSON, who was in Enugu for the proceedings said, “I have said it before that anyone, no matter who he is, who aims one blow at COSON will receive five hot blows in return.

The members of COSON are determined that no one will intimidate or crush COSON. They have told us to follow anyone who wishes to mess with COSON anywhere, to the Supreme Court and back. That is our brief. Let the music pay!”.

Ononiwu in Enugu also reminded the members of COSON that Efe Omorogbe was still owing the sum of N200,000 which a Lagos High Court Judge, Mrs. Josephine Oyefeso ordered Omorogbe to pay COSON Chairman, Chief Tony Okoroji for the defamation cases brought by Chief Okoroji against Omorogbe.

Former minister of education, Oby Ezekwesili has condemned the continued detention of the convener of the RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore by the Department of State Services(DSS).

Sowore had been granted bail by a federal high court sitting in Abuja on Tuesday.

Femi Falana, the lead counsel of Sowore had confirmed that all bail conditions have been met and that Sowore has submitted his passport as demanded by Justice Taiwo Taiwo.

According to Ezekwesili in a tweet on Thursday asked if any reason has been given for “this apparent disobedience of court order.

She said: Why is @YeleSowore still detained by DSS under the supervision of the Presidency @NGRPresident @MBuhari ?

“Is there a reason given for this apparent disobedience of court order after Yele’s lawyers fulfilled the condition laid down by Justice Taiwo Taiwo for his release? WHY

“It is unjustifiable for the @NGRPresident @MBuhari -led #AsoRock @NigeriaGov to habitually disregard orders of the court.

“Such flagrant disregard for the Judiciary does not bode well for our Constitutional Democracy.

“I join my Voice with Citizens & ask DSS to #ReleaseSoworeNOW!”

World Football Governing Body FIFA has denied claims from some football federations that votes for Lionel Messi to win the Best Player Award were rigged.

Lionel Messi walked away with the best men’s player accolade at the glitzy ceremony in Milan on Monday, pipping Cristiano Ronaldo and Virgil van Dijk to the award.


Given Van Dijk’s remarkable season at Liverpool and Ronaldo’s excellent campaign at Juventus – Messi winning the award was met with a degree of surprise.

FIFA determines the best players based on the votes of national team coaches, captains as well as a journalist from each country.

But Messi’s claim to the honour has been thrown into doubt following after Egyptian football association and Nicaragua’s captain Juan Barrera raised concerns over the authenticity of the ballots – citing uncounted or misallocated votes.

Egypt’s association called on FIFA to explain why the votes of Coach Shawki Ghareeb and captain Ahmed Elmohamady were not taken into account.

Ghareeb and Elmohamady – who both opted for Mohamed Salah as their top choice – are not mentioned in FIFA’s publication of official votes that was published after the award ceremony.

The Egyptian FA claim they officially sent their votes to FIFA on August 15, four days before the deadline.

On Thursday, the governing body provided an explanation as to why the Egyptian’s votes weren’t included – claiming the signatures on the voting forms were in capital letters and thus invalid.

FIFA also cites the Egyptian’s voting forms were not signed by the federations’ general secretary which is mandatory.

From there, the Egyptian FA was contacted by FIFA requesting confirmations from their captain and coach.

According to the FIFA voting office, which is monitored by independent observer PricewaterhouseCoopers, the Egyptian FA received two reminders to submit the properly signed voting forms by August 19.

FIFA insists the Egyptian FA did not respond until August 21 and therefore, the votes from the Egyptian FA could not be counted.

The governing body was also keen to stress that the Egyptian FA was in turmoil in July and August – by which point voting for ‘The Best’ awards was already open – after its leadership resigned due to the national team’s early exit at the African Cup of Nations.

Foremost Nigerian businessman and African richest man, Aliko Dangote, has shared that his meeting with Bill Gates has changed his perspective into resolving to do more for humanity.

According to the business mogul who made this known while speaking at the 2019 Goalkeepers’ event hosted by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in New York on Wednesday, he said he didn’t know that there is a massive challenge in the health sector until he started a charity foundation in 1994.

Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide and political commentator has said that he will not sit idly and allow an unelected cabal rubbish vice-president Yemi Osinbajo.

This may be unconnected with speculation that a cabal in President Muhammadu Buhari’s government plans to whittle down the powers of Osinbajo because of some decisions he made when he was acting vice-president.

According to Omokri, he doesn’t like Osinbajo because of how he attacked his former boss, Goodluck Jonathan but says the cabal will not succeed against the Vice President.

He said: I don’t like @ProfOsinbajo. He has attacked former President @GEJonathan and I. He has made false comments in the past against our administration. However, I will not sit idly by and allow an UNELECTED CABAL rubbish him. By God’s grace, Osinbajo is going NOWHERE!

Barcelona’s 16-year-old forward Ansu Fati is eligible to join the Spanish national football team after he was given the country’s citizenship.
Having lived in Spain since 2009, Fati was born in Guinea-Bissau in 2002.

Fati’s citizenship application was processed by the Spain’s Interior Ministry before the 2019 FIFA Under-17 World Cup squad deadline ends.

The tournament will begin in Brazil on Oct. 26th.
Fati, who became the youngest player in the Champions League, is expected to be called to the squad of the Spanish national team for the 2019 FIFA Under-17 World Cup.

He also became the youngest scorer for Barcelona, making a great start in his career with two goals and one assist in four games so far.
