Hahaha...Your fears are understandable, many of you were opening fake drugs shops in hospitals before the pharmacists harrased and paraded you before the law after throwing you the books and asking to memorize PCN concil act. That nonsense has abated

Same is gonna happen in our laboratories, we can't allow you to keep swindling our patients with fake lab results conducted by quacks parading as Scientists. You can be greater than Einstein, your biz..but you must SUBJECTED to the LAW.

Grab an Med lab. Council Act and start memorizing it, it is Federal law. You can't greatet than the Nigerians that adopted it and the President that signed it.
You are a NOBODY under the LAWS of the land. Quote me.
The MLSCouncil will do it's Job, whether you exist as a genius or a dreg.

I laff in yoruba!!!
It's no use wasting calories on your case.
Just look deep within...
I'm sure the truth lurks within...
No matter how you try to mask it from the rest of the world.

Hahaha...you're looking for loopholes, because i revealed how our poorly trained doc write 'very very very very urgent' on Culture investigations as if it is a 15 mins pcv.

Blood culture 'prelim/provisional results' 'can' be released after 48 hours of incubation but the FINAL RESULT CAN'T be released before then. It is more of a continous study within time. Your 'very very urgent' can't work in situation like especially in our 1star labs.

Now, if you release a result after 48 hours and find a growth after 2 weeks of frequent subcultures of your BHI what happens then?. Blame the Scientist for not reporting a growth before it happened? as you alway do for your errors....you should think.

Blood culture is a costly test and takes FREQUENT SUBCULTURE and STUDY to achieve a final result and then close your Result booklet after documentation. So that Scientist can't be said to be lazy. He should be paid for the frequent study, even if you are contented with the 'P-result' which is not FINAL.
You should pay me for this free lessons

For your last p-graph. It is not worthy of a reply. I've thrashed them before.

Let me re-educate you so u for the safety of the masses...
Once u culture for more than 1 week and begin to grow NEW organisms, you most likely are culturing those in your dirty laboratory air and workbenches.
I as a doctor would not alter my treatment protocol because of that, neither would any doctor do, even if he's the dullest one.
Till date, the only group of organisms that take long to grow on APPROPRIATE agar are the non specific ones... Mycobacterium spp, chlamydia, mycoplasma, etc. Which may take up to 6 weeks for tb. Thats why we do our immunofluorescence assays, afb and mantoux!
You can culture your blood specimen for however long you wish... probably someday, the red blood cells would germinate!

You use dollar fine, so it's no longer about relativity. You want to play the dollar game?

Why don't you tell Nigerians that the pharmacist can earn as much as $120,000 and a Scientist as much as $112,000 annually and that no resident abroad earn six-digits in dollars in other climes. Multiply those figures by your 170 and tell us how much it is.

It can't always be about you. Health system is multi-disciplinary.

Thank you.

another display of ignorance!
Kindly post your source.
you also mentioned "scientists". Kindly clarify. Are u trying to group medical lab TECHNOLOGISTS under this umbrella?!
Forget that u modified the nomenclature over the years, borrowing the 'scientist' appellation. For all I care, a battery charger is also a scientist... at least he works with chemicals; the motor mechanic is also one... down to the most junior apprentice.
Do the lab scientists even understand the principles behind the tests they carry out; or they just follow some form of prescribed algorithm (designed by doctors, mind you) to carry out these tests?
I wouldn't blame you...
its because we have a government whose key actors are good examples of ignoramuses ambulating on 2 limbs...
members of the same plumage flock together, that's why they (government) are more in tune with you...JOHESU.
I still await you to provide evidence for the figures you quoted.
I can bet with one of my gluteus maximus that you are wrong!

So how many days does your own blood culture take in those quack accredited labs your physician set up in private capacity. 24hrs?..

No wonder you fight the Med lab council when they come to accredit those quack labs where you collect money, manufacture Scientist's signature and release fake lab result cos you are a dokita.
Some of you are pure criminals.

Very funny...
Mind u... I work in a tertiary hospital.
I can educate u!
I do not have a private hospital; however when I do, no clown masquerading as a laboratory scientist would even be allowed to breathe near my hospital entrance, let alone deceiving him or herself with delusions of grandeur, that he or she intends to accredit my laboratory.
Where on earth is it heard of that an intellectually immature mind is solicited to veto the work of geniuses? Please tell me! I pray thee!

Nobody is asking you what u earn in dollars, exchange rates are not stagnant. They are subjective many factors.

Morever an Intern doc earns more than the figure you posted there if converted today. A resident earns almost as twice as that figure. Let's say it way it is.

If you are ignorant tell us, i'll give you a sound lecture on the goings-on in the health sector. It's a pity you've lost media monopoly. People are wiser

Take your last advice, you need it more.

Falsehood...
I dare you to the challenge u requested.
Starr the lecture...
I'll puncture holes through its contents and leave you for the masses to judge...
I am certain you wouldn't take this challenge.
A dollar is less than 170 naira...
but u can use 170.
You dont have to be scared doing the math... unless you wanna tell us your arithmethic is poor!
As for intern salary... it is even lower...
less than 900 dollars a month.
I use the dollars so people can compare with other climes if they wish...
ghana would not be far away to start with.

Again, like i told one of you on this forum,it is not about your personal opinion. Scientists work into the night taking calls, it is a global thing. That's the standard, you can keep your beliefs it is not relevant here...Sir.

I still maintain my stand on those figures and i'm not very far from the truth.

Finally the Science of Allopathic Medicine can not be relegated for Allopathic Medicine. One is as important as the other.

Thank you.

Read your comment again and see the bullshit you composed! Try edit your thought in your mind before you commit those poor fingers to typing pus on this forum.
meanwhile... you dont have to search for long...
I dare you to give evidence of ANY intern or even junior resident that receives the amount you pasted here.
I am 3 years into residency, and my salary is just barely 1,100 dollars. Do your calculations.

If an accident/ gunshot patient's sample comes from the casualty ward, a Scientist will tell the patient to wait till the next morning before running pcv, and analysing blood?, when he knows you are always ready to point fingers and blame the lab in the event of the patient's death?.Kai!...you are blatant liar Sir.

No trained Scientist will tell a patient to wait the next morning except it is a sample that requires 24-48 culture(which in most cases you'll have to prep media and are not emergency issues) If he does, he erred and deserves sanction.

I'm sure it is physicians like you that requests a blood culture investigation(a lenghty test that takes about 3-4weeks) and then writes 'very very very urgent' on it. We see stuffs like this all the time.

Ignoramus!
What do u want to grow in 4 weeks from blood culture?!
Na iroko tree u won culture?!

timowale: Its quite amazing how majorities of respondents who are doctors on this topic have expressed such hieght of amateurish reaction to it.
i mean how possible is it for a so called professional in a specific discipline to have expertise also in virtually all other affiliated discipline
The claim by all doctors and the pro-doctors on this issue that all the other health workers are half baked is fallacious.
Each profession within the health team has its context and curriculum of study different from another health profession.you can only show expertise in a specific profession you have chosen
Next time you want to rubbish a practitioner in another discipline,do come up with more credible points instead of just typing to satisfy your egos

A horrible display of ignorance!
Kindly purge yourself of it by doing a lil' homework!
Go and research into medical training...
You would be shocked!

Many JOHESU members condemned it, the perpetrators were sanctioned and patient didn't die.

Let's remind the world about the death of Baby eniola in LUTH, where a pathologist purchased fake reagent and HIV strips because he is involved in it's importation. He forced the Scientists to use those fake reagents and strips causing misdiagnosis and the eventual death of Baby Eniola.

Four LUTH Scientists were forcibly retired but the pathologist was simply transfered to another unit with salaries and benefits intacts.

The whole world now sees why the CBN has mandated Med lab council to enforce their lawful rights in the regulation of importation of diagnostic reagents and other IVDs. Nigerians also see why you are fighting CBN's directive. You can't fool anyone.

Another display of ignorance! !!
If you are enlightened enough, you would have known that even after blood screening, there is a very small chance of blood borne infection transmission with stored blood initially screened as negative.
The gold standard is the use of polymerase chain reaction to detect deoxyribonucleic or ribonucleic acid sequence of the virus even in the window period. But this is still not foolproof!
Anyone consenting to blood transfusion should be aware of this.
I am a medic in luth. The professor had to take the hit as the head of the laboratory... not because he carried out the test. He was sacked for the actions of those under him. Just like the saying, " a captain goes down with his ship"... thats how serious our roles as consultants are!

Skybaby: This is stuped and is only in nigeria that some one with first degree(MBBS) parades him or her self as Doctor and preventing a Ph.D holder from answering so. Physicians go to hell with your demand.

Phd my foot!!!
The earlier that sinks into your head, the better.
No one prevents the other from acquiring the doctorate degree.
What is my business if you are a 'doctor of battery', so long as u dont intend to apply your services to treatment of humans.
We dont care!
The only aim is to ensure that the teeming number of nigerians are not preyed upon by fakes; cos in the end, it is the medic that battles to save their lives after they have been mismanaged by crooks masquerading as providers of orthodox health care.

It is obvious in most of your comments that your level of reasoning is very primitive.
It has been clouded by mischief and disrespect for sanctity.
Listen to yourself...
Cerebrate on your thoughts before you commit yourself by putting them to writing on this page and displaying just how deep the pool of ignorance in which you are sinking is.
If nigerians are a sensible bunch, they would go research into the current problems bedevilling their health sector and demand that the government restores order to it.
They would develop thick skin and be immune to a bunch of ingrates who intend to abuse their minds by feeding them with words of deceit.
With most of the comments here however, I think I can safely posit that nigerians are definitely an ungrateful bunch. It's saddening!

I do not blame u for your comments. It is the clueless nigerian government that I blame.

I never wanted to comment on this page, however the level of ignorance being displayed here is nauseating.
Before u suffered those digits to punch on comments on this page, it would have done a lot good if you researched the subject matter first.
This knee jerk approach to discussing issues is inappropriate.
I observe that johesu (joint health sector union) have swarmed this page to abuse the mind of the public, preying on their ignorance.
I can only pray for this country full of ungrateful Nigerians.

I weep for this country for the level of reasoning displayed here...
A country where ignorance is rife and common sense is sacrificed to the winds!
There is a huge problem in the nigerian health sector and the average nigeria is blind to all these.
With this NMA strike, I hope the government would experience the wake- up call and do things right.
At least, they sowed the first seed of discord.
