Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by Hassanolek: 3:06pm On Nov 08, 2020
Visa Approved

The moment of truth came around 8:00am and I was called in. Did my Biometrics and my interview went as thus;

VO: pass me your documents
Me: passed

VO: Why are you going to the US
Me: To resume in person for my doctorate program at FSU, Tallahasee

VO: why FSU?
Me: I was given a full ride that covers my tuition, health insurance and also leaves me with generous stipends. Secondly, I will be working with Prof. XYZ that works on cancer mechanobiology with the aim of understanding how tumors neighboring cells affect metastasis.

VO: what cancer will you be working on?
Me : Pancreatic

VO: I'm approving your Visa. Go with ya I-20 when traveling and move to window 22 to pay your reciprocity fee.

I'm so happy right now grin grin

I mean it's already a month and 6days in this journey. Before now, around 2019 or so, before school resumption I watched some videos on python but I didn't take it too serious. And yes I have a good foundation in Excel since my 300lvl cos I use it to plot assignments on graphs(A bit complex ones) and I make lot of money from it grin . I also understand the syntaxes and it's operations but I would still love to know more.

By June 20th 2020(last month) I saw this thread and I became very serious to know more about Data analysis. So serious that I had to Deactivate my Whatsapp cos it's always taking my precious time away.

Now here I am today and here are the things I have learnt after staying away from Social media for a month and 6days.
(1). Python (Intermediate tho smiley )
(2). Pandas (Intermediate) although I can do almost anything with it but I won't still call myself a pro. Pandas is much better than excel as it could run many cells operations.
(3). Matplotlib (Same as pandas, my wonderful friend)
(4). Numpy ( still a learner cos I haven't seen much of it's use). And lastly
(5). Pyplot (my very good friend also)
Currently I'm leaning Seaborn and Powerbi.

Honestly speaking I know there are much more to learn sad . But seeing that I'm still a student, I feel I need to focus more on the ones that are more important to me as a student. So my targets are:

(1). Master all these tools in Data Analysis I've learnt so far. Later on after my studies, I'll learn Sql, Tableau and others.

(2). Find out which tool is best for ANOVA design table.

(3) Do Data Analysis for your fellow final year students undergraduate report and get paid
(4). Conduct Seminars for Students in Data Analysis and get paid grin

Please do well to profer any other library or tool to help meet my targets especially in the ANOVA design.

Thank you @Ejiod for the wonderful thread and to everyone on this platform

Well done bro.. I'm almost at the same level with you; I just finished Matplotlib tutorials days back and I will really appreciate it if you can share some of the projects you worked on with me(or share a link of where I can get them) to practice with them too in order to master the skills.
Business / Re: Forex Trade Alerts: Season 20 by Hassanolek: 5:34pm On Apr 16, 2020
Good day guys, I recently started learning FX on babypips.com and I'm presently at the technical analysis stage. However, I don't how to practice the analysis I'm learning on MT4. For instance, how do I plot/use the support and resistance on the MT4 app on my phone.

I will really appreciate it if anybody can tell me how to go about it.

I have been following this thread for a more than a year now and I must commend the people keeping alive. In the spirit of doing same, see my profile below
GRE:Q156V161
GPA:4.96
Undergraduate Major: Plant biology and Biotechnology
Intended program: PhD in molecular and Cell biology, I’m open other areas like bioinformatics, stem biology or cancer biology(might be a challenge given my discipline)

I sent my scores to four schools
Cornell
Ohio State University
Boston University
University of California

My AWA score was poor (2.5) and I thought I killed it considering how relatively simple the topics were and how lengthy I wrote on them. I had 2 weeks to prepare for GRE and only read for AWA few hours to exams, I just gleaned info I could on Nairaland and watched YouTube videos on it.

Considering my profile, please I need advice on other ambitious and safe schools

@Time2smile @scholastica16

Congrats on your scores. Your CGPA isn't from here oo.

All the 4 schools you have there are ambitious schools (Top 50) and I will suggest you apply to 2 of them and add maybe 2 more schools in Top 100. Besides, which if the U of Californias did you send your score too?.
You might want to check Rutgers, TAMU(I think they waive app fee for their PhD in Cell Biology/Biochemistry).

I wrote my GRE last week Thursday at Uniprep but I just got my official result today.

I started preparation for GRE towards the end of January but I wasn't really consistent, and on average I only prepared for like 1.5 month. The first month of my practice was dedicated to practicing QR questions from 5lb and the official guide while pertaining to VR all what I was doing was learning words from the Magoosh App. In the last leg of my practice days, I started taking mocks from Baron, Powerprep, ETS official guide and the range of my mock result is QR(160-165), VR(154).

Fast forwarded to the exam day, in order to be sangfroid and maintain my equanimity on the exam day,I tried not to tergiversate my psyche with esoteric words and arcane math problems few days to the exam though I was still going through some of my antediluvian solutions. After going through those preliminary processes at the exam centre I was shown my stand and Issue writing was the first to surface and in 25 mins I was done with it though I had issues coming up with very cool points but my argument was nice, I was able to transit nicely between my paragraphs.

After my analytical, QR came in and it was very simple, I guess it was the experimental while the VR that followed was turning my head, from there I knew there was a 'nuke' on the mountain not even fire. The other two QRs were a little bit harder more than my mocks and the 2nd VR was average(as expected because I messed up in the first one).

Las las, I reported my score and I saw QR(160), VR(152). I was crestfallen because I never had it that low in any of my mocks. From the official score sent to me today the analytical is 3.5.

Immediately I saw the score at the centre, I just told myself "guy, life goes on" and I sent my scores to
Iowa state University
University of South Florida
Florida State University
University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa.

Profile:
GRE 312
GPA 3.73/4.00(WES unofficial)
TOEFL: still preparing
Intended Course: PhD Chemitry/Biochemistry

Phones / Re: The LeEcoThread by Hassanolek: 11:05am On Sep 09, 2018

Got the LeEco Le 2 X526 for wifey and just successfully installed the full Pixel Experience on it.

Imagine getting a 3+32GB Google Pixel for just 31.5k. 100% Vanilla Android. If you know... you know.

This is the best phone to buy at this price point. The user experience is unbelievable.

The phone is extremely fluid and everything works.

Won't be bad business to buy 10 units of this, port Google Pixel Experience on them and sell for 40-45k each. grin

Where did you buy the phone?
Does it come with a protective tempered glass and pouch?
Thanks

Hello everyone,i have been following this thread for months,i have come to realize that before one can register for any of the exam, one needs an international passport.I will like to do as my first step before preparing for the exam.Pls i need a guide from those who have it & the price range. Thanks

The fastest and safest route is to go to an Immigration office in your state and speak with any of the officers that you want to get a passport as soon as possible. ..Regarding the price, it varies(26-35k) though the actual price on the Immigration website is cumulatively 19, 600 Naira but this is Nigeria....

After couple of weeks, I'm done going through all the pages and I have downloaded all the materials tipped by the GRE pundits .......
Undergraduate (Biochemistry) : 4.54
Publication: Nil
Research experience: 1 year
GRE/TOEFL: Still contemplating on when to write (either before I go for NYSC in November or when I'm done with my service).
Progress so far: I have been making findings about different PhD programs, considering funding, research interests, ranking and feasibility..
Goal: PhD in Biochemistry or Cell biology or Biophysics.....
Lastly, I really appreciate people's efforts and tenacity toward getting admission into schools abroad..If I may say, before coming across this trend, tuition-free postgraduate studies abroad had always been wrongly perceived by me as a "mission impossible"..
