Culture / Isese Was Never A Religion, And We, The People Of Ilorin, Also Have Our Own Ise by haybea124: 1:06pm On Sep 02, 2023
ISESE WAS NEVER A RELIGION, AND WE, THE PEOPLE OF ILORIN, ALSO HAVE OUR OWN ISESE. THEIR MALICIOUS INTENTIONS ARE EVIDENT.

It is disheartening to see people attempting to defame Ilorin due to their sinister agenda. Let me make it clear that we will not succumb to their tactics.

The term "Isese" is a Yoruba word that translates to "Ancient culture," and every town and city around the world has its own distinct culture that sets it apart. I fail to comprehend why agitators of chaos are using Isese as a means to cause trouble and tarnish Ilorin's reputation.

For clarity, "Isese" is similar to "Ise nba-aiye" and "Isenbale," which refer to ancient times. I fail to see how culture can be a new religion.

Every town and village, not only in the Yoruba race but also in other races, has its own culture and never refers to it as a religion.

Isese is known as an ancient Yoruba culture, not a religion, which is why each Yoruba town has its distinct Isese that differs from others.

Sango Festival: Sango Festival is an annual event observed by the Yoruba people to pay homage to Sango, a thunder and fire deity who served as a warlord and the third king of the Oyo Kingdom, succeeding his elder brother, Ajaka. This festival is traditionally held in August at the palace of the Alaafin of Oyo.

The Olojo festival marks the descent of Oduduwa to Ile-Ife and celebrates the first dawn, afternoon, and night in creation.

The Osun Osogbo festival takes place in Osogbo, Osun State, and is dedicated to honoring the goddess of fertility.

Other towns and cities in Yoruba land have their unique festivals as well, such as the OKe'Badan festival, Oya Festival, Ogun Festival, and Ifa festival, to name a few.

All of these festivals are held to honor their legends who have passed or to demonstrate the significance and appreciation for certain aspects of their culture.

We have the Argungu fishing festival in Kebbi State. It is an annual event where people gather to fish. The river is not seen as a deity.

In Kano, we have Tsangaya Hill, a place of importance that people celebrate every year. However, it is not worshipped.

Almost every Northern Emirate has Durba, a celebration that takes place in Ilorin among other cultures. We shall discuss Ilorin culture later.

People are free to practice their religion, but they should not impose their culture on others in the name of freedom.

During the 17th and 18th centuries, many Yoruba Oba converted to Islam or Christianity. This was not a betrayal of their ancestors, as Yoruba race did not have a specific religion before the arrival of Islam and Christianity.

Alafin Abiodun Atiba, also known as Soliu, was a Muslim and it did not make him unfit to rule Oyo. He embraced Islam while still honoring the cultural traditions of his forefathers. Are you telling us you know Isese more than him?.

Those who are causing trouble should understand that they can practice their own culture, but they should not try to impose it in Ilorin, where it has not been historically practiced.

Alafin Soliu Abiodun Atiba lived in Ilorin for many years, and he never attempted to introduce Oyo Culture here. So, why are some modern individuals behaving foolishly?.

Isese was never a religion. Those who parade themselves as Onisese are ignorant.

Did you know that Egungun was not part of Yoruba culture before the time of Alafin Sango? Sango introduced Egungun as a means to celebrate, influenced by the Nupe people.

Each culture in Yoruba has a specific house as a custodian, and they are called upon during cultural celebrations.

To reiterate, Isese is not a religion. If it were, Yoruba people would have over 1000 religions, considering the multitude of gods.

Let us refrain from causing trouble, as the price of peace is not too high.

Politics / The Good ,the Bad And The Ugly Sides Of Bukola Saraki by haybea124: 7:37pm On Jan 13, 2019
THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY SIDES OF BUKOLA SARAKI.

I am of the school of thought that says "There is no bad person is without a flicker of good", that is why I always argue profusely with people that always criticise Bukola Saraki without stating his good sides.

Senator Bukola Saraki was a two term governor of Kwara state and during his tenure as governor, he brought lots of development to the state. In fact, unarguably he remained the best Kwara state governor from 2003 till date.

Among the numerous achievements of Bukola Saraki as governor is the establishment of Tsonga farm, Kwara state University, Kwara state aviation college, Kwara state diagnostic center etc.

Bukola Saraki through his influence also brought Dangote group to the state and helped in the uplifting of small scale and cottage industries.

Amidst the listed achievements of Bukola Saraki , there are lots of fraud and treachery embedded.

Let take for instance the popular Tsonga farm, Bukola Saraki established Tsonga farm with the false hope of encouraging commercial agriculture in the state. The government cleared large hectares of land, procured agricultural inputs like fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides, and distributed lands to the farmers. The 13 Zimbabwe farmers were given 1000 hectares of land each . The state government also provided the initial equipment for land clearing and guaranteed initial credit facilities for the farmers.

It will intrest you to know that despite all the state resources expended on this project, the state government can only lay claim to 25% while we were made to believe the remaining 75% belongs to 5 banks. But the issue is, where is Songa farm rice, milk, eggs and chickens? Songa farm is now more of liability to the state government than asset. Blame not Maigida but Bukola Saraki.

Another pointer to Bukola Saraki's ugly side is Ilorin water reticulation project. The Ilorin water reticulation project that have become conduit pipe through which the state is milked of its scarce resources started in the year 2009 during Bukola time as a governor.

The project has gulped several billions of naira since almost a decade of its commencement but it is sad that the light has not been sighted at any end of the tunnel. No doubt, the project is one of the Bukola Saraki money making projects.

How may people know that the state government under Bukola Saraki spent about N3.1 billion on the dysfunctional Cargo terminal and aviation college. About N1.2 billion were spent on setting up the aviation college and N1.9 was expended on the construction of the useless Cargo terminal.

My question is, how many Kwarans can afford to send their wards to aviation college and of what benefits is Cargo terminal to kwarans?

The secret behind all these projects was never for the interest of the Kwara masses but of utmost benefit for Bukky. Bukola Saraki to the detriment of Kwara masses deliberately came up with projects like Aviation college, Kwara football academy and Cargo terminal just to milk the state.

Again of what benefit is a graduate of the aviation college who stand less than 15% chance of ever securing a job? Of what importance is a cargo terminal when the industrialisation of Kwara state remain a pipe dream due to siphoning of funds meant for development? Of what importance is football academy when the centre is unproductive and the staffs are being owe backlog of salaries?

During his tenure as a governor, while Bukola Saraki was delivering with his right hand, he was siphoning with his left hand. He borrowed to execute some bogus projects like the fly over at Post Office in Ilorin which start and end at the same spot. In fact, the flyover created more traffic gridlock, solving none. He simply construct a flyover for the sake of having a project to account for the funds allocated to it while we all know it was a means to another end; embezzlement of public fund.

He made the state insolvent through useless borrowing, bankrupting future administrations for the foreseeable future. This was a deliberate attempt to make sure no one would challenge is shameless hold on the state political scene, while he remain the de facto governor.

Now that all is about to fall apart for Sauron, the arch villian, he suddenly realise his ill gotten wealth pales in the presence of an idea which its time has arrived. Kwarans says: the emperor must abdicate or be dethrone. "Oto gee".
Politics / The Ruinous Political Mistakes Of Senator Bukola Saraki by haybea124: 6:18am On Jan 13, 2019
THE RUINOUS POLITICAL MISTAKES OF SENATOR BUKOLA SARAKI.

Admittedly, it is only in politics that doing something the same way gives you different result with time. Holding on to political strategem that works in 80s in 21 century is like attempting to commit a political suicide, this tends to be the bane of Senator Bukola Saraki present political ordeal.

Senator Bukola Saraki inherited the political dynasty from his late father on a platter of gold. Between the year 2006 and 2011 after the demise of late governor Lawal of blessed memory, there was no potent contender against the Machavellian politics of Saraki dynasty and that makes him appear as an indomitable political leader.

Senator Bukola Saraki failed to flow with the tides of modern day political yearning of Kwarans, especially the youths but chosed to stick to the regressive political precept as practised by his late father.

Another disastrous political error committed by Senator Bukola Saraki is greediness and power insatiability. Senator Bukola Saraki want to be Kwara state life governor at the same time life Senate president and also want to become Nigeria president at all time. Definitely, Senator Bukola Saraki is suffering from political content deficiency syndrome (PCDS).

History had it that late Pa Olusola Saraki of blessed memory only elective position was when he became Kwara central senator despite him having the soul and body of Kwara politics in his palm, Baba Saraki was contented with political leadership position and the Kwara kingmaker and no doubt, that was why he remained undefeated till death.

Bukola Saraki after his two terms as the governor of Kwara state installed a proxy governor and never see any capable Ilorite among his followers to instate as Kwara central Senator but only himself. Bukola Saraki is presently in his two term as Kwara central Senator and still contesting for the third term without any meaningful representation but all for his self interest.

Bukola Saraki a nonentity in Kwara politics before 2003, was entrusted with leadership base on his father's relationship with Ilorites and Kwarans at large, but instead of showing appreciation Bukola Saraki treated us like leeches. In his inner recess he perceived individual development of especially Ilorites as a threat to his fiefdom.

Like a Machavellian he did everything possible to undermine the development of Ilorin and Kwara at large, full of pride he treat Kwara elders like lepers, when they addressed him he ignored them by keeping himself busy with his phone. What an arrogant human being.

Now that it is payback time, the larger than life Senator in perpetuity is scrambling through the nook and crannies of Ilorin community. The shameless deceiver in the wee hour of his political expiration now realise that Ilorites are his people and that these so called "dirt poor souls" hold the power of his political demise or survival in their tumb. I thought if he present a goat Ilorites will vote for it. See the way the cookie crumble.

Like a prodigal son, Ilorites tested Bukola Saraki but he turns out to be a disappointment. He has bitten the finger that fed him, now this same finger is about to discipline him.

On a last note, please make sure you have your PVC it is time for light out for the slaver "Oto gee".
