Who is familiar with the timeline of this scholarship? If application closes 17th of this month when is it likely to get a feedback?

Career / Re: An Investment Banking Career: A Thread for Questions, Advice & Vacancies by haylegbede1(m): 7:53am On Jan 21, 2020
zakir007:

Hi. Please what aspect of investment banking makes one a great stock investor? Is it IB or equity research?
Also which of the two exposes one to various companies (allows you to be more diversified as you work on many different projects at once) so he becomes an expert that can easily switch to consulting (in big 4) later in life?
Finally, between corporate finance and other divisions, which is likely to be marketable in the future or become extinct?
Thank you

To be a good stock investor, an equity research role will help you better than an IB role. In equity research, you get to work in a team of researchers where each researcher covers different companies. By cover I mean, watching the company, creating financial models for the company and making forecasts about their performance, hence giving a buy, sell or hold recommendation. This allows you know the companies that have good value for you to invest in. An IB role on the other hand is more of an advisory role or deal making role where you work on mergers and acquisitions, issuance of capital etc. .that may not necessarily give you the skills of identifying companies or stocks to invest in.

About being able to move to a consulting firm or a big 4, both roles can suffice for that purpose. Having an experience in any of these roles will give you the knowledge and skills needed in a consulting firm in am advisory role.

About the role of the future and which roles may go extinct or which may remain. I must tell you that technology is taking over everything hence if you want to be competitive in finance in the long term you have to be tech savvy. So roles in data analytics, AI among others are the future of finance.

Hmm... is that all that bothers you in life now my dear?
That's to say that you don't chop belleful. I will advise you to get a baseball bat and a 200 kg iron lifting macho man to bash your head with it, then you will have a whole new feeling of how it feels to be in a coma.
But make sure to put things in order before embarking on it as it may be a journey of no return.

Okay okay okay

I get it, some of you dont really get the meaning of dying young.

It doesnt necessarily mean dying at a young age. It could mean dying with the attributes of a young person(a child). A child doesnt worry about shit, a child plays, a child may not plan and things will work out, a child is always happy, a child doesnt worry about much things, a child is young, hence some people wish to remain like that as they grow old and die. We all want to die young whether we like it or not, all these qualities in a child(young) you barely see them in adulthood. Adulthood comes with all the problems in the world, it is a complete package of wahala

A small lyric from an old song(am sure yall must have heard the Jay Z and Hudson version of it)

"It's so hard to get old without a cause
I don't want to perish like a fading horse
Youth's like diamonds in the sun
And diamonds are forever

So many adventures couldn't happen today
So many songs we forgot to play
So many dreams swinging out of the blue
We let them come true" - Alphville

University = 4yrs

17-4=13

Senior secondary = 3yrs

Jenior secondary = 3yrs

3+3=6
13-6=7

Primary = 6yrs

7-6=1

Kindergarten and Nursery one to two = 3yrs

1-3= -2yrs

So she started school 2yrs before she was born, graduated from secondary school at 13 and primary at 7?
Wow, congratulations

Okay okay, the elder is here, now listen.

Firstly, that you cannot understand this feat or achieve it doesn't negate the fact the someone else can.

Secondly, for all those that said, she went to a private uni and bla bla and that no federal uni will give admission to a girl of that age,,,, y'all make me laugh, thank God, we already saw somepeople tlk about how Great Ife and Other federal university have no age barriers, i wont tlk much. If she went to a private school, which of course, she did, it is a good thing.

I think i saw someone also say, this kinda thing cannot happen anywhere in the world except nigeria. Thats like the most unwise thing i have heard.. Please use google, we have white phd holders at 23 in abroad. Wait, y'all ever heard that the most intelligent family in britain is a Nigeria family? The Imafidons, please use google.

Okay, what else?, this is a good thing appreciate the young lady, i bet if it were a white girl, yall be ejaculating all over the place and complainig about the nigeria education system.

Peace out.

For you that is about to mention me saying something unintelligent, i sure as hell will not reply you.

Jobs/Vacancies / Three Things You Should Know Before That Next Interview by haylegbede1(m): 6:35pm On Apr 26, 2018
On a simple note, these are the three things you need to know before you attend that next interview:

1. Know yourself
2. Know the firm
3. Know your Environment

KNOW YOURSELF

You need to know your strengths and know your weakness. True confidence doesn't come from a sense of higher value, it comes knowing ones strengths and weakness, knowing what you are good at and not good at. Like this, you get to be proud and confident of yourself and know where to improve.

KNOW THE FIRM

When you are invited to attend that interview, you are expected to have acquired a reasonable level of knowledge about the firm. To think of a few you need to acquire Knowledge about their products, subsidiaries, services, corporate social responsibility, recent news about the firm, the role you are applying for and how it affects the firm, recruitment process, qualities they look out for (when you know this you know whether and how qualified you are for the job and where you may want to adjust/form somethings) among other things.

KNOW YOUR ENVIRONMENT

By environment I mean from your immediate environment to the world at large. It is advisable to go for that interview keeping yourself abreast with the recent happenings in your country and the state of the economy at the very least(he who knows his environment is considered intelligent). You want to know what has been going on in the past week or month. You want to know the level of inflation or interest rate, GDP, why the maze was stolen, why there were airstrikes against Syria etc.

All you need to know before going for any interview cuts across these three areas.

You can do well to add yours.

Quality work experience always rank higher than the master degree. I vote for business (if you know what you are doing) since it can get you the money for the degree as well as experience if later decide to get a job.
