Politics / I’m Not Expecting Ministerial Appointment From Buhari —bakare by Heartbeatmii: 1:40am On Jul 31, 2015
The General Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has said that he is not expecting a ministerial appointment from President Muhammadu Buhari.

Bakare, who spoke in an interview with Sahara TV monitored by our correspondent on Thursday, however, parried a question on whether he would accept a ministerial appointment if offered by the President.

Bakare, who was the running mate of Buhari on the platform of the Congress for Progressive Change in the 2011 presidential election, defended the President’s style of governance, saying, “slow and steady wins the race.”

The cleric said, “As far as I am concerned, I am not expecting to be named a minister. If I am offered an appointment, when I get to that bridge I will cross it. I am already a minister of the gospel. Ministry is my calling and my life. The word minister means servant. When you expect nothing, you cannot be disappointed. I keep on doing what I am doing, to be a solid supporter of the Buhari movement and what he stands for in public life. I have no regret on what I did in 2011. If an opportunity presents itself, I will do it again. I am not seeking anything.

“Let’s not count chickens before they are hatched. The bible says the expectation of the righteous will not be cut off. That is when the expectation of the righteous is in tandem with God’s expectation. If you are expecting from God, the flesh can fail. Who knows tomorrow? In the next two months, when the ministers would be named, what if nobody is here or alive? ”

He, however, said he would continue to support the President in any capacity.

The cleric said President Buhari’s visit to the United States has improved the relationship between the two countries.

On whether former President Goodluck Jonathan should be probed, he said, “I will not advocate that President Jonathan should be probed or not be probed. A day or two before the inauguration of the President, the transition committee received a report. They worked on it for weeks.

“The President has looked into those reports. If there are anomalies, President Buhari will call the former president and say things are irregular and the law should take its effect. But as for the witch-hunt of others, that is a waste of time. If you keep on chasing the wrong things, you will not do the right things. But that does not mean anyone who has done evil should get away with it.

Bakare said he would not support the restitution of stolen funds as amnesty for corrupt government officials, noting that this would promote a wrong attitude.

He added, “What Nigeria needs now are not so much of restitution. Some stolen funds that were sent back to Nigeria in the past went into wrong hands. What Nigeria needs is a clear example of good governance, the rule of law as against the rule of men.

“On the rule of men, might is right. On the rule of law, right is might. So if you can get ‘right is might’ in place, if you do something wrong and you are punished for it, those who have the desires to do similar things will know that there are consequences for their choices, that is where we are going. I can tell you that witch-hunt is not something that President Buhari would support. Perish the thought, it is not his character.”

If you have a passion for a PhD, please quit your job but before you do try to apply to schools in the united states as there are innumerable funding opportunities for PhD in the US. even for Msc sef. you are 27 right? apply for PhD and also Msc on the side just in case the admissions committee says that your research experience is not enough for a PhD.

I was in your shoes too, working in an FMCG in Nigeria, pay was good but i went to bed at night with my mind on something else. I was tired of my job. so i applied for masters and got funding..

Politics / Buhari’s Wife Reacts To Husband’s Decision To Scrap The Office Of The First Lady by Heartbeatmii: 9:00pm On Jan 24, 2015
The wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Mrs Aisha Buhari, says her role under her husband’s possible presidency will be limited to traditional functions, such as visiting orphanages and receiving guests.

Maj. General Muhammadu Buhari has said his government will scrap the ‘Office of First Lady’ as it is unconstitutional and a conduit pipe for stealing public fund.

Aisha Buhari defined her role to newsmen on the sidelines of the inaugural meeting of the APC women presidential campaign initiative held in Abuja on Saturday.

According to her, since the office of the first lady does not exist constitutionally, she will limit her roles to the traditional functions of visiting orphanages and caring for society’s downtrodden as the first lady.

“When my husband is elected as the president of this country, he will rule the country within the rule of law based on the constitution of the country.

“If the office of the first lady is constitutionally recognised, he will not tamper with it, but if it is not that’s okay.

“For me, I will perform my duties and role as the wife of the President of Nigeria traditionally.

“Wives of presidents have some traditional roles, like receiving guests, visiting orphanages, helping the less privileged people.

“They also lead in the fight for the right of women and malnourished children, infant mortality rate, kidnapping and girl-child trafficking,’’ she said.

While inaugurating of the initiative, Buhari urged the women to unite and cooperate with the men by mobilising women at all levels to ensure success at the February polls.

She urged them to double their efforts in educating other women on how to cast their votes and at the same time be civil in their conducts.

“As I am talking to you now, more than 55 percent of registered voters are women hence, it is imperative to have initiatives like this to mobilise fellow women at the grassroots.

“The meeting will plan campaign activities that will show case the potentials of the women wing in selling the programmes of our great party to the women.

“This will include mobilising women by creating voters awareness, particularly in the area of registration, collection of PVC, identifying the party logo and how to cast their votes,’’ Buhari said.

Also speaking, the wife of the party’s vice-presidential candidate, Mrs Oludolapo Osinbajo stressed the need to assist women and the less privileged in the society.

“I am happy that I am a mother, a wife and a sister. It is time to do more than we have been doing; encourage other women so that we all can be mothers of Nigeria.

“Mothers heal, comfort, nurture, provide, and sacrifice. We have this virtue in us and by the grace of God; we will be given the opportunity to express who we are as women.

“We are the ones who set the standard in the family; We decide whether our children will be honest or dishonest.

“We have this opportunity to effect change, not only to change the things that are happening in this nation, we have the opportunity to change ourselves,’’ Osibanjo said.

Present at the inauguration were the wives of the governors of Rivers, Imo and Nasarawa states, the national coordinator of #BringBackOurGirls campaign, and a host of other APC women and supporters

Well written piece. We must eschew all forms of violence.
Politics / General Buhari Responds To Fayose controversial Advert In Punch Newspapers by Heartbeatmii: 1:05pm On Jan 19, 2015
However, Gen. Buhari in a reaction to the publication, issued a statement on his Facebook page on Monday morning, saying: Governor Fayose of Ekiti State released an advert in the front of the Punch and Daily Sun newspapers this morning, abusing a Bible verse and insulting Muslims, especially Northerners.

He put three former Heads of State who are Muslims and Northerners together in images and suggested that what happened to them may happen to Muhammadu Buhari.

First, it is totally unprofessional and abusive to Ethical codes of Journalism for Punch and Sun Newspapers to publish such content. Punch and Sun Newspapers must revoke the advert immediately and apologize to the people of Nigeria, Buhari and the APC for such folly.

Second, If till now, there is no denouncement of the post from PDP and GEJ it means that they support it because Fayose is a stakeholder of the party, and a front man for GEJ’s campaign.

GEJ signed a peace pact last week against election violence and he, through the insensitivity of this advert, is the first to break that pact.

The Jonathan administration is cruising on lies and propaganda. It is bent on amassing votes to siphon more public funds and has no interest of Nigerians at heart. It is bound to fail.

We are for peace. Make sure to get your PVC and vote these bigots out of power come February 14. Encourage your neighbors, let them know that GEJ has nothing to offer them but lies and empty promises.

Let us channel our frustration to the goodwill of this Nation.

Peace. Nigeria. Peace.

Meanwhile, the Presidential Campaign Organisation of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in a statement issued in Abuja on January 16th, debunked rumours over the alleged failing health of their presidential candidate, General Buhari (rtd).
