Programming / Re: .NET Is A Dead & Useless Language - .NET programmers come and defend yourselves by henryexe: 12:05am On Jul 20, 2016
dueal:
Firstly, these arguments are silly. When you say a technology is dead, do you mean unsupported or not used by developers any longer? The .NET is not in either of those classifications. Use the "right" tool for the job.
DON'T go building websites with C++, Don't prototype with Java, Don't write lowlevel in C#, and leave assembly to the compiler.

When you have work to do....use the tools that work based on time, efficiency, and expressiveness.

Wow!!! its been ages. Good to know you still follow this section I thought you gave up. Stil waiting for dammytosh.

Programming / Re: Andela Will Empower Africa's Next Generation Of Great Technical Leaders by henryexe: 8:11pm On Jun 19, 2016
mrdcai:

Not necessarily though. The only clear winners here are Andela's founders /early investors.

The company outsourcing the work might cut costs in the short term, but more problems typically show up down the line. Outsourced developers generally create massive technical debt - much less inexperienced developers whose only programming experience is a 6-month bootcamp. Andela's advantage is that they strictly control their talent pool - so only the most promising candidates advance through the training. Only time will tell if that makes any difference... But in the end they're just another outsourcing shop with a good PR department.

Andela "fellows" get a decent salary, true. I have no idea what packages they offer so I can't comment on that. However, there's a lot more to software development than producing web apps using [framework of the month]... which is what developers at Andela could potentially end up doing over their tenure.

Lets say you're a company looking to outsource your software development; why would you pick Andela over the thousands of outsourcing shops in India and Eastern Europe with more experienced developers? I can't think of any reason, unless they're quoting significantly cheaper prices. Which is what additional funding would enable them to do.

I guess it's obvious I'm against outsourcing. I'm lucky enough to have a well-paying job because my employer values my worth and is willing to pay fairly for my services. Andela developers aren't so lucky.

Well said bro well said

Programming / Re: Is This Possible With C# Asp.net Mvc, And How? by henryexe: 8:01pm On Jul 08, 2015
The solution is to selfhost but as at mvc5 self hosting is not supported unless you want to go mvc6 and selfhost using OWIN. Another route you might take is build your app in web api which you can selfhost. But your UI will be JS based all through. Your web api will just be serving JSON. I did something like this when I needed to decouple a CBT app from IIS and make it easy to setup and run. Angular should be a good choice for the UI part. Worked out well for me. I'll also advice you use SQL Compact for data storage.

Billyonaire:
"Some of us are killing some of us"......word on marble.

In a bid to push Jonathan out and keep their OPL and OML licenses, they shipped arms into the North and train Chadians and Nigeriens to destabilize the previous administration, even at the cost of human lives, the Northern Oligarch maintain their grip on their only sources of survival, the political mercenaries and the oil wells.

Boko Haram has ended, this one is just the end game to make it look like Jonathan wasnt the target, and also to make it look like Buhari inherited and ended the terrorism. As we type this, Shekau is living in a well-furnished apartment in a neighboring country with wives and family. The script is ending. The game was well-played. Anyway, let me add that no girl was kidnapped. It was well staged and managed.

By the way, electricity will be better, cos the same people who sponsored terrorism are the ones that sponsored vandalization of gas pipes on daily basis. It was done to push GEJ out.

One bottle of Orijin for you. This is just the plain truth.

Few weeks ago I took a HIV test, it turned out negative. I asked my fiancee to also take the test. We don't stay in the same state so there was no way we could go together. Fews days later she said she took it that she's negative too but the Doctor didn't allow her go with the result. I was surprised because I took mine in a govt clinic and went home with my result. She said she took it in a Teaching hospital. So please is this how it is done in Teaching hospitals? I think she's not being honest

Programming / Re: Dear Programmer In Nigeria: How Much Is Your Salary? by henryexe: 8:11am On May 02, 2015
Don't mention where you work just state what you do, yrs of experience and your pay. I see no harm in that. I'm a .NET Developer also do front end work using Angular, jQuery, D3. After all deductions my take home is 102,000 monthly. I'm a fresher though this is my first job started about a month ago.

Modified: I also have some PP. A contract sort of with a coy, it doesn't pay every month though but every 3 months. Currently it pays me a little above 240,000 every 3 months. I don't do much here once I setup the app, all I do is to click a few buttons every 3 months.

If something like this is happening after 16years of PDP rule then I can say the north was right to vote out PDP. These people are so wicked that once they are in power they care less about those who voted them in. What is the joy in looting billions of dollars and people die of poverty and drinks same water with goats? How much will a community bore-hole cost this wicked outgoing PDP government? And some dumb Igbo guys will call GEJ their hero for been a sore election looser and accepting his loss. Will Mandela, Nkrumah or Even dictator Ghadafii sit and watch his people drink with goats?

GEJ IS A FAILURE AND HE IS NO WHERE AMONG AFRICAN GREATS sad

So GEJ failed them right? What about their LG Chairman, National Assembly reps, State Governor nko?
