I think this should be within the 7 days from the date of submission of the passport.

Bear in mind too that you are also requested to indicate your travel date which should be no sooner than 7 days from the date of submission of your passport and travel health insurance.

Hello house, first I want to say a big thank you to everyone in this forum for helping me prepare and plan for my interview.
Interview was held on the 16/08/2017 7:00 hours.

A day before the Interview:

I arrived a day ahead of the interview since I’m not based in Lagos. I then went straight to the German consulate to find my way around and make inquiries. I passed the hustlers on my way within the premises, who were asking if I had taken passport photos, bought my courier envelope etc. I asked them which way to go towards the German consulate and they pointed to the direction. The security guys at the gate were nice with information regarding passport, courier envelope and every other thing “trust naija na” they wanted me to give them money for telling me the things I need to know and do, so I gave them some change. I left and went to take my passport photos according to specification (N1000 for 6 copies) after negotiation: I was initially told N2500, I got a courier envelope for free from a friend that works with DHL in the Lagos office and self addressed it.

Interview Day:

I arrived at the embassy at 6:15 my interview was for 7:00 of course; there were a couple of persons for short term visas. At 6:30 a security guy addressed us with specific instructions for arranging our documents for those on long term and short stay visas respectively. I joined the queue with 2 guys ahead of me for the same student visa. A night before I had arranged my documents with office clips: originals in one file and 2 sets of photocopies of all my relevant documents (if you are married include marriage cert. if you have kids do the same) I think it adds to your documentation. I sighted the popular Mr. Paul a fair middle aged man of Igbo decent I assume and the impression I have of him now is quite different from what I read here. He’s passionate about his job and if you listen attentively you won’t have to ask him dumb questions. He doesn’t like to repeat himself either. He’s just there! On my way home after my interview; I thanked him and commended him for a job well done. He had made us re-arrange the documents before we went into the building. He would mention a document and you would arrange them in the order accordingly: originals, 2 sets of photocopies.

Interview transcript.

11:30 am, light blinks and it’s my turn. I was signaled to go in by the security guy.
Me: Good Morning Ma with a smile (middle aged lady, calm, endearing and happy)
VO: Good Morning with a smile, you’re going to do your Masters right?
Me: Yes
VO: Your appointment letter and passport please.
Me: Gave her
VO: May I have your documents please, originals and two sets of photocopies
Me: Gave them
VO: She flipped through my photocopies and counted them, did the same for the other photocopy and my originals (I made colored photocopies).
VO: She asked me to sign my motivation letter and application forms.
Me: I did.
VO: May I have your Visa fee? S12, 000, She laughed and we started laughing, afterwards she asked for the N21500.
Me: Paid her, she counted it and issued me the invoice.
VO: She did my Bio metrics, gave me the print-out to sign confirming that my details were correctly entered, which I signed.
VO: May I have your courier envelope?
Me: Gave her.
VO: She gave me a questionnaire and blank sheets of paper to write my questions.

The questions in the questionnaire.
Q1. What course?
Q2. Why do you want to study this course?
Q3. Course structure and curriculum (no of semesters, industry seminar, and internship) provide all the details.
Q4. Why Germany?
Q5. What do you know about Germany?
Q6. Why not UK, US or Canada?
Q7. What was your bachelor thesis?
Q8. What do you plan to do after study?
Stay in Germany?
Return to Nigeria?

These are the questions I can remember from the few questions on the single A4 paper.

Me: After answering the questions she took the answer sheets and typed them into her computer.
VO: Please pick up the handset.
Me: Ok
VO: I’ll have to ask you a few more questions. Then, she started asking me the same questions on the questionnaire, I repeated exactly what I had written, she also asked a couple of other questions that were not there.
Me; Ok
VO: Who applied for you?
Me: I did myself.
VO: Where do you work?
Me: Told her
VO: How much do you earn?
Me: Told her, she typed it in
VO: Have you applied for a shengen visa before?
Me: Yes, this one. She laughed, I laughed and she said no I mean previously. I said no
VO: Do you have any siblings in Europe?
Me: I said yes
VO: What’s their name and where do they work?
Me: Told her.
Alright, we’ll get back to you via e-mail.
N/B: I stood throughout the interview.

End.

I'm trying to complete my funding now before i get that funding mail.
I had prepared for an oral interview but God gave me a written one. I wasn’t asked if I have funded or not, I wasn’t given any form to sign that my documents will be processed after I have funded.
I'm praying now for a favorable outcome.

Hello guys,

@dobeespen and uchevolata, exactly my thoughts i couldn't agree more with both of you

We live and have been in a country that has done nothing but deprive us Nigerians of our basic existence, we've not had quality education from our glorified secondary schools (universities) and then the thought that a country whose leaders and public office holders have put a system in place and have considered that this should benefit foreigners should be called to explain reasons why they have put policies in place? Beats my imagination.

Its really saddening to know that your so called representatives who represent themselves only in public offices have there children schooling abroad with public funds. I imagine they will laugh hard and loud at your e-mail and frustrate your efforts to emerge from this bondage called Nigeria.

May i inform those who want to go flooding the German consulate with classless e-mails that you may be shooting yourselves in the leg and ruining the chances of others. Before you go ahead with your planned protests, be reminded that our predecessors on this thread never flooded any German consulate with protest e-mails. Most of them had to take another shot after an initial disappointment and are in Germany today schooling. Most persons who applied early received admissions early enough, opened their blocked accounts early, funded early and applied for visa appointments early. Most got there appointments early and have gone for their interviews or are waiting. They were early.

The German consulate and Government deserve praise and commendation from Nigerians and Nigerian Students for giving us world class education free. let us flood their e-mails instead with notes of commendation for the policies that make us have access to the quality education that we can never get in Nigeria.

Let us instead flood the e-mails of our Governors, Senators, local government chairmen and house of assembly members demanding an overhaul of our educational system in Nigeria as well as other infrastructures. Then and only then will we be taking the bull by the horn and fighting the right foe for a JUST COURSE.

No hard feelings, my sympathy and empathy goes out to all those affected, but we should all remember that opportunity will come and go. The worst we can do for ourselves is shut the door against opportunity. Please and please leave it open, your siblings, or friends might benefit.

A word is enough for the wise.

dobeespen:

This post is a joke. The German government owes you NOTHING!! they have their policies and the only people they owe it to serve are Germans. They didn't ask you to apply for education in their country, so they're not liable for any costs incurred on your part. instead of copying gbogbo ti gbogbo to help you with schooling in Germany, tell them to fix the shitty education here so we won't have to start looking for quality education elsewhere.

You won't demand this kind of accountability from your government, it's Germany you want accountability from. Mshew. Please delete this nonsense.

Wrong Idea.......There is nothing like Notary Public Affidavit.

Is she a Notary Public? NO, I guess.
Let her just do the Normal Affidavit for you, then you will locate a Notary Public for the proper SEAL for Notarization.

Please don't think that Red Seal is Enough oo. Because that's not the required SEAL.

Except it has an Embodiment that Imprints words or letters on you docs. It is not a seal

Yes it is good to obey the law, but in Bremen here almost all African student work more than that, because if you work only 120 full days as stated, your 8040€ will dry up.Remember that 120 full days is only 4months and 450€ is not enough,I think they are keeping blind eye on that in this part of Germany, I dont know of the other part of Germany, those before me here have worked more than that for many years without any invitation. Some Cameroonians, Ghanians and Indians have stayed here for four years doing masters of two years, they do one or two course in a semester and work full time year to year.

What you are saying is true, because one Nigeria guy won a scholarship here and they invited him for an interview and ask him how will they give him the scholarship since he is sending 200€ back home every month, that the scholarship is meant for poor student and they cancel the scholarship. So they know everything about our activities but some time they just keep blind eye.

Hi Chief, after reading your comments i sent you a PM, please I'll like to ask you a few questions about Bremen.

My mother in law is uber racist and a b*tch too. I been trying to get along with her, and my wife's been trying to get us along too. There's this one time she visited and cooked for just my wife and our miscreant doggy. Yeah she pretended not to know I was home lol. She now visits whenever I am away on a business trip. The bonding process seems to be taking more time than I expected.

How about if you try giving (being kind and caring), soon you'll realize that she'll come along and you start getting the things you expected from her. Remember that Luky Dube song.....blessed is the hand that giveth than the one that taketh

My mother in law stays with us weekdays and returns to her house on weekends because we live in the same city. To be frank at first I was not comfortable with the arrangement but when I asked the price of day care near my office and it was way too much (40k monthly), I began to appreciate the favour she is doing us by staying to take care of the baby while I go to work monday through friday.
Now we are really really close, We watch Zee world together after I get back from the office and she even assists to make dinner on the days I return late.
If I were to choose all over again, I would still prefer her to stay with us because her presence has been a blessing and a stress reliever.

Op the choice is yours, weigh it well!

I'm very sure you will make a great MIL tomorrow. I like the way you appreciate her more now.

What could have made my teenage son interested in sex at his age when he should be serious with his studies? He is 14-years-old and in SS1. This is a boy brought up in a good Christian home. Maybe the mistake was the laptop his dad bought for him. We had thought it will aid him in his studies but he is using it for something that could destroy his future. I’m so sad about it. That night, I was hearing some sound from his room around 11PM and I could understand what it meant. So I tip-toed to his room and saw him engrossed in the porn movies he was watching. I was so furious; I beat him and seized his laptop. I later got to know he was introduced to porn by a class-mate of his. I told him I’m changing his school. He has been begging me not to tell his dad when he returns from his trip but I feel his father should be aware of the whole thing. Parents out there, how can I check this situation?

NNPC Commits to FOI Act - As Yakubu Implores New Employees to Imbibe Transparency, Accountability

The Management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, over the weekend pledged its commitment to abide by the spirit and letters of the 2011 Freedom of Information Act in all its operations so as to entrench a culture of probity and accountability.

Speaking at the Induction Ceremony for newly recruited Graduate Trainees held at the NNPC Towers in Abuja, Group Managing Director of the Corporation, Engr. Andrew Yakubu, stated that ahead of the signing into law of the then FOI Bill by Mr. President, the NNPC had taken bold measures to open its operations to public scrutiny.

"Long before the Freedom of Information Act came into force, the NNPC has been maintaining an open door policy which sees it volunteering information to its various publics through press releases, advertorials and presentations at different forums including hearings at the National Assembly," the GMD stated.

He informed that with the formal signing of the FOI Bill into law by Mr. President last year, the NNPC Management swiftly established a Task Force with the goal of examining the new law and advising Management on how best to comply with the provisions of the law.

"We have since internalized the contents of that report and as a Corporation, we are ready to ensure that our actions and processes live up to public scrutiny. Under my watch as GMD, I intend to abide by this principle," Engr. Yakubu affirmed.

On the 2010 NNPC Recruitment Exercise which ultimately led to the employment of 595 new staff, the GMD described the process as the most painstaking and transparent recruitment ever conducted in the history of the Corporation.

He noted that the exercise which began with the placement of advertisement in some national newspapers and the NNPC website in November 2010 was designed from the beginning to provide Nigerians equal opportunity to aspire for available vacancies in the services of the Corporation.

"Subsequently, a record 269,376 applications were received and from that figure 44,239 candidates were shortlisted for aptitude test. On March 26, 2011, a simultaneous test exercise was conducted across nine Nigerian cities for 36,479 candidates representing 72% of shortlisted candidates. Of this number, 18% of the shortlisted candidates did not show up for the test. Further breakdown of the shortlisted 269,376 applications indicate that 4,173 or 1.5% were for Contract Employment while the rest applied for permanent position," he stated.

Providing further breakdown, Engr. Yakubu informed that while 25 candidates were recruited under the Contract Employment category after series of interviews, for the permanent employment category, a total of 4,734 candidates were invited for oral interview at the NNPC Towers between 4 July, 2011 and 17 August, 2011 in the following numbers: Experience Hire 1,177, Graduate Trainee 2,627 and Operators/Technicians 930.

He stated that at the end of the exercise, of the 4,734 invited for the interview, 4,432 attended representing 93% attendance.

"With the assistance of Philips Consulting, a reputable Management Consultants, and our experienced in-house recruitment experts, a final figure of 595 candidates were adjudged successful and recruited after painstaking interview sessions and due diligence using the criteria of merit, catchment area and national spread," he said.

A breakdown of the figure shows that 132 personnel were hired under the Experience Hire category, 347 under the Graduate Trainee programme while 116 were employed as Operators.

The GMD noted that in line with the Federal Character Commission (FCC) requirements, Management engaged the Commission for vetting of the recruitment exercise and after a series of interface, the Commission issued a Certificate of Compliance to NNPC thus bringing the exercise to a successful close.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, I have taken this pain to elaborate on the recruitment process just to prove to all that at NNPC, we have nothing to hide about our processes and procedures. In conducting the exercise, Management was guided by the rules of accountability and transparency and these ensured that we got the best from each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory," he stated.

He emphasized that while it is not practicable to have equal number of persons from each state, no state was left unrepresented in the final recruitment list.

"Even my daughter who is eminently qualified could not secure a space in the final recruitment list, that tells you how thorough, transparent and fair the process was," the GMD stated.

Engr. Yakubu assured the new intakes that with the recent expansion of upstream and downstream activities by the NNPC, their future in the services of the Corporation will be filled with productive challenges as they contribute their quota to the realization of the Corporation’s core goals and objectives.

In his welcome address, the Group Executive Director Corporate Services, Dr. Peter Nmadu, disclosed that four of the new employees are physically challenged persons in line with corporation’s policy of giving equal opportunity to all categories of persons.
