Sports / ‘punish Ramos!’ – Over 200,000 People Sign Petition Demanding Salah Injury Sanct by hisprideblog: 1:44am On May 28, 2018
The abrasive Real Madrid defender may have cost Liverpool’s talismanic forward the chance to play at World Cup 2018 after tangling with him in Kiev.Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has found himself the target of a petition that has called for him to be “punished” after forcing Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah out of the Champions League final.

Ramos is not exactly a stranger to widespread loathing outside Madrid, thanks to his abrasive style both on and off the pitch.

And he became Public Enemy No. 1 after tangling with Salah early in the final, which Real Madrid eventually won 3-1.

The Egypt international was hauled down by Ramos and landed awkwardly on his shoulder, and left the field weeping with his World Cup chances now in serious jeopardy.

Politics / Proffer Alternatives To Grazing, Tinubu Urges FG by hisprideblog: 1:59am On Jan 19, 2018
A NATIONAL Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has called for a national introspection into the causes of the killings in Benue and Taraba States even as called on the Federal Government to proffer alternatives to grazing.
He also affirmed the need for more years of outstanding governance to overcome the teething challenges facing the country which he said were inherited by the present administration.

Speaking at the Daily Trust Dialogue in Abuja yesterday, Tinubu called for reforms of the fuel subsidy regime which he affirmed as untenable.
“I would be remiss at this moment if I failed to mention the terrible killings that have occurred in Benue and Taraba states.

“It is important that we place the current crisis in proper context. No one should pretend that this evil just suddenly appeared from nowhere. We have been living and dying with this lethal situation for many years.

“In years past, there have been herdsmen attacks smaller than this. There also have been attacks larger than this.

“The current hue and cry against these killings is hopefully a sign that we are maturing as a nation. That we shall no longer countenance the wanton destruction of human lives no matter the religion, ethnicity or origin of the victims or the villains. If so, maybe this nation is coming of age and none too soon.”

Technology Market / Samsung’s New Smart Glasses May Actually Help Those With Vision Loss by hisprideblog: 10:59pm On Jan 06, 2018

Samsung’s Creative Lab program lets employees explore new projects and spin off startup ideas, making devices that come out of the program intriguing. At CES next week, C-Lab will show off a few new projects, including Samsung’s Relúmĭno smart glasses, which focus on helping those with vision impairments see more clearly.
The spectacles are the first device to build on Samsung’s Relúmĭno mobile app that debuted during last year’s Mobile World Congress. The smart glasses work in conjunction with the mobile app (so your smartphone does most of the work) to improve different visual situations that pose problems for those with eyesight issues.
The glasses’ “regular mode” makes blurry images clearer by deciphering the outlines of objects in the person’s view and making them more prominent. Another mode dubbed “color invert mode” makes it easier for users to read text on a page or on a screen from normal distances, so they don’t have to bring the page or screen closer to their face. It also displays text with high contrast to further improve the reading experience.

Dr Awodun, who said that the agency realised a sum of N18.2 billion as opposed to a total of N17.2 billion in 2016, added that, “our target is to hit N24 billion. However, we are hoping to hit N20 billion at the end of 2017. There’s nothing stopping the state from hitting N30 billion annually”.
