To your question regarding what you are to write in the COURSE OF STUDY COLUMN, you have two options to choose from; Academic or Vocational. Academic is better.

Oluwathoyin:
Please help, I'm filling my Ds-form and I need some clarifications about few questions.

My program starts on 23rd of August 2021 and ends on 10th December 2023, should I write 27 months or 2 years as my intended length of stay in the US?

I attended two secondary schools, I attended one for my junior secondary education and the other for my senior secondary education. In the educational sector on the Ds-form, can I write both schools name? If yes, what should I write in "COURSE OF STUDY COLUMN" for the senior secondary school and junior secondary school?

My humble advice to future candidates
1. Always answer your questions simple and clear. Long answers are a turn off for them
2.No need to fake accent, cos it would just put unnecessary pressure and you may end up saying what you wish not to say
3. Always be relaxed, don't do like you having a job interview. see it like as if you telling your friend about your goals and achievements
4. Also don't allow those touts to exhort telling you to print unnecessary documents, the documents you need are stated already. Those guys chop up to 10k from me

I heard about Kennesaw state university from Brown2green. May God bless him.

I'm grateful to God Almighty that made today possible. Everything started in 2019.
I wrote GRE and applied to schools but they all rejected me then I ran to Nairaland to tender my case.

One angel saw my case on Nairaland and sent a mail to me. We call him Pepe . I thank God for using Pepe for me. He told me to go and do WES so that I can get admission and funding. I told him it wasn't possible becos I didn't have that kind of money. He pressed on me until I did WES, then my story changed.

I am so happy right now. Only God could have done this.

I planned to have my interview at a later date but I just discovered that my passport will remain exactly 6 months tomorrow. God gave me today's date in short

Interview
Vo: good morning
Me: good morning sir.
Vo: do you have up to six months on this passport.
Me: yes sir. It will remain six months tomorrow.
Vo: where are you going in the US?
Me: I'm going to kennesaw state university for my Master's degree in chemistry. I got this offer in 2020 but due to covid lockdown I couldn't secure an appointment.
Vo: oh, I see.
Me: yes sir. In fact my assistantship was kept for me.
Vo: nodding in agreement.
Vo : why do you want to have this degree?
Me: I planned to join a multinational company here in Nigeria as a research and development Chemist, and this degree will put me in the best position to achieve that.
I'm currently eyeing Nestlé, OLAM, and Unilever.
Vo: where are you working presently?
Me: I'm working with Nestlé Nigeria on contract. I joined them pending the beginning of my program as I can't take up any permanent appointment until I get my Master's.
Vo: nodding in agreement.
Vo: have you travelled out before?
Me: No sir.
Vo: who is your sponsor?
Me : named him.
Vo: what does he do?
Me: he holds the position of vice president at OLAM international. So he controls all their manufacturing activities in Nigeria.
Vo: didn't get OLAM so I spelt for him.
Vo: why does he want to sponsor you?
Me: he was the one that advised me to go for my Master's abroad to gain a better research knowledge and international exposure before I join their company as R&grin Chemist. He promised to render all the necessary support and he's doing just that. In fact he gave me the money last year before I realized I couldn't go.
Vo: the money is in your account?
Me: No sir. In his account.
Vo: do you have his statement?
Me: yes I do. Gave him.
While he collected it to check, I quickly added.. that's just his transactional account, not his salary account.
Me: the assistantship I have has covered full tuition and living expenses, he's just covering the miscellaneous expenses.
Vo: checked the i20 again, then drop the account statement and then he said something I didn't hear and gave me the white paper.
Me: still standing at his front like I was in another world.
Vo: you are free to go.

Hallelujah!
The security there said it was the longest interview.

I appreciate everyone on this thread. Thanks so much!

Spence, thanks so much for words of wisdom.

Pepe my brother, I love you so much.

Glory be to God!

Congratulations. Have you applied for the graduate assistantship?
Jukwasi:
Oh! Thanks dear. I did not apply with GRE. It wasn't a criteria. WIU is just a lovely school. Although I had a cgpa of 3.75/4.00 more than the criterion CGPA from 2.75 upwards. My work now is to face the VO in the embassy so as to convince him/her about the change of degree.

Thank you for your detailed responses. I will send my recommendation letters to them soon. What program did you apply to?

obajoey:
http://www.wiu.edu/graduate_studies/positions.php That is the link for the opened positions.

I am yet to get admitted too, but I was privy to get some info when I was applying.

When I was applying, I sent a mail to the international admission office, copied the program director, copied some other persons too, I sha dey copy people dey go...lol

So each of them was replying with the info I needed.

It was in one of their mails I was told to submit my recommendation letters too.

So I submitted my recommendation letters along with my application.

Yes, I sent my letters via email to them.

Some programs are more competitive than others..

I just sent a reminder to the coordinator now, see the response..

Thank you for your reply, I will like to understand you better. I haven't submitted recommendation letters before, but I am currently filling the graduate assistantship form and I am expected to type in names of my 3 recommenders.
I guess, I would be the one to send the recommendation letters to WIU directly via email after receiving the letters from my recommenders, am I right?

I am yet to receive an admission decision from them. I applied for a Masters in Quantitative Economics.

I am interested in the opened GA positions, kindly navigate me to the page on their website.

Thank you.
obajoey:
The school didnt ask for their email bro, so i don't think they will be contacted.

If you have submitted your recommendation letters before for admission, you don't have to send it again. This is stated on the graduate assistantship application page.

I believe they only asked for their names so they could spool from their database sha.

So have you gotten admission decision now?

There are opened GA positions presently, why not apply to them directly.

Good day everyone. To those familiar with the Western Illinois University graduate assistantship application procedure, after submitting the 3 names of the recommenders who are to recommend me for an assistantship position, will the school email them directly asking for the recommendation letter or will I have to inform my recommenders to send their recommendation letters to a particular email address stated on the WIU graduate assistantship page/form?
Kindly treat as urgent,
Thank you.

Thank you very much.
Jukwasi:
Thanks. I wish you all the best. Congrats in advance. Based on the assistantship, you have to apply online. You must submit your SOP and send recommendation letter for that. If you have already submitted that, no need again. Just apply online. Go to google, then search Wiu assistantship form, then you will see it.

Ok. You applied during the application fee waiver period, same here also. Congratulations once more. I applied to the school but for a Masters in Quantitative Economics. The last mail I got from them about 4 days ago was that my application file has been moved to my department for admission reviewing and decision.
Do you have any news on how to go about graduate assistanship application after receiving a positive admission decision from them or have you applied for a Graduate Assistantship position?
Jukwasi:
Thanks. I applied on March 5th last month.

Congratulations. Please when did you apply to WIU?

Jukwasi:
Wow! Congrats. I got admission for Applied statistics too yesterday. Let's connect. Choose statistics. It pays better. I am not sure though. But in normal Us salary, Mathematicians earn higher.
