Hello vo i recently got my us Immigrant visa approved in Nigeria and I've bought the ticket scheduled for departure on the 28th January. I did not know I needed to have nothing less than six month on my passport before my entry into the US. Since my plane is scheduled for 28th of January I will be having less than 6 months (5 months and a week precisely). I want to know if this won't cause any hiccups at the port of entry for me since am staying permanently in the US.

Good day VO, thanks for all the help you've bin rendering.
My question for today is not really a question perse am just kinda curios. I had my interview 2weeks ago but my documents were not complete (medicals) so I was told to DHL the medical result plus my int'l.passport soon as I get it. The thing now is I've done the DHL thing. I was told to wait 10 business days I've Just completed 5business days, but my problem is even if it hasn't completed the 10business days I should still be able to track my passports progress or location through "http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-passportretrieve.asp". But it keeps telling me "There is no status update available for the passport number submitted".

VisaOfficer:

To prevent any issues either upon visa printing or at the border, you should present a passport with at least 6 months remaining when you attempt to enter the United States. Otherwise, you risk being sent back to Nigeria even if everything else is in order.

Regards,
VO
Thank you very much, I actually plan on traveling this December as soon as I gt my visa approved, my passport is to expire July 7 2017. I believe I still Have more than six month so there shouldn't be a problem or should I have a reason to worry? Or is possible for me to renew my passport after getting my visa approved?

Hello VO, I mentioned earlier that I already had my Iv interview and was asked to send my medical result when I get them through DHL. Now I've got the results and I went to the DHL address I was given, when I tried to mail the package the attendant who attended to said I will have to open the sealed envelop which I was instructed not to do so by the doctor. My question now is I hope it doesn't matter and won't affect my visa process?

I want to knw of I can still renew it after my visa as being approved, because I read it somewhere that one need to have nothing less than 6months on his/her international passport before entering the us.

Hello vo,
I had my us immigrant visa interview this Monday(my dad filled for me). While going for the Interview I had all my documents except for my medicals, it wasn't ready and was told to present the receipt to the consulate as a prove that I've done it. On during the interview the consulate asked Jus few questions and didn't request for any of my documents, except for the police report (which I provided) and the medical report(which wasn't ready). After the interview she gave me a white paper that I should get my medical results and mail it with my passport included through DHL. My question now is should I still be worried if my visa will be approved or not ?
