Romance / Re: Ladies, What Type Of Wedding Ceremony Would You Prefer? by Hydris(m): 4:14am On Jul 15, 2017
Ishilove:
Very quiet and low key with a maximum of 50 people in attendance. 25 from my side, 25 from his.

What informs my choice is not economy but privacy. It is not how lavish a wedding ceremony is that will determine the success of a marriage.

For example, the 1980 wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana was the most beautiful and lavish wedding ceremony up to that point in history. It was broadcast to billions worldwide and leaders across the world attended.

Today where are they? Prince Charles is married to someone else while Lady Di is in the grave. And they were separated for years before her death.

Noise. It is not by feferity and noise.

Marriage is serious business and people nowadays get so carried away by the fanfare of wedding ceremonies that they forget this immutable fact.

Muslims are single probably because they haven't got a muslimah for themselves that can perfectly fit as their missing half. imagine a situation wherein all the ladies that surrounds you are Christians and you don't seem to have a clue as to where to find your rightful muslimah....just praying Allah leads mine to my path, tirelessly hoping to see her soonest if Allah wills.

May Allah provide you with a good muslimah that wud help to strengthen your deen

Hello Hydris -

If the officer gave you back your passport, you need to drop it right away at one of the document collection centers, either the DHL in Isolo or in Victoria Island. If the officer kept your passport, they will be able to issue as soon as they are notified the SEVIS is reflecting in the system - it then takes 3 business days for the visa to be processed and returned to the DHL you indicted on your form.

Regards,
Student Visa Team
Thank you for your prompt response..The Visa Officer kept my passport actually,..he said he could keep it until they are notified of my SEVIS which should be tomorrow or the day after...Can I go ahead and make travel plans cos of time constraint??.
Best regards

Islam for Muslims / Re: Pls Someone Explain This About Islam To Laymen... by Hydris(m): 7:29pm On Jan 18, 2016
ilyasmuy:
I just saw this post on your profile. It really hurts me you havent got answer to your question

To answer the question

Too many times Non-Muslims quote Quranic verses WITHOUT even knowing how the Quran was descended unto mankind.

The Quran was NOT descended as a complete book in one time. Rather it was descended VERSE BY VERSE in different occasions. Each verse was descended in an event in Muslim history to which the meaning of the verse is strongly linked. It was the idea of Prophet Muhammad's companions, not the Prophet himself, to compile all the acquired verses in one book, namely the Quran, shortly after his death for preservation & learning.

Not understanding the background of the descent of every verse can make reading the Quran quite misleading, even for Muslims themselves. That's how finally ignorant take Quranic verses OUT OF CONTEXT. Go to the nearest bookstore and find the book Tafsir Ibn Kathir. It is a book with the correct explanation of the quran. It is the book that you should read your Quran WITH.

After that everything will make sense. Most of the verses that you quote here ARE NOT orders for pre-emptive attacks against Non-Muslims BUT orders for Muslims to be brave and not to hesitate in their self-defense (given their minority status at that time) because Muslims HAD BEEN WRONGED beforehand.

Islam is not a belief that asks you to become a fool by attacking others with no reason. If it were, Muslim preachers would have been terminated by the different nations of different beliefs, before the preachers could convey Islamic messages to them.

Likewise it is not a belief that encourages cowardice. It is a fair religion.

Since centuries ago, man has always spread his empire. The british empire, french empire, roman empire to name a few. Even, the yoruba people spread their empire their empire from oyo to ilorin and other parts in south west. Like all these empires, Islam was also spread to all other countries. It is a very wrong statement to say Islam was spread by sword? Tell me which empire was spread by food

I will leave you with these quote from peter leykam "There are two ways of reading a religious text, historically and confessionally. A historical reading asks what this text means for a specific individual or group of people, and a confessional reading asks what it means to you as a reader. People commonly mistake the two, assuming that because you derive a specific meaning from a text that is the meaning all readers must derive.

Meaning doesn't exist in a book, but arises out of the interaction between a book and a reader in a specific historical and social context. Thus, you cannot make conclusions about a religion based on what is in a book without understanding how that book is used by specific groups of adherents
"

Regards
may Allah (swt) increase you in knowledge abundantly..
You've gone some way in enlightening the laymen

Nairaland / General / Just For Laughs ...unemployment Palava by Hydris(m): 12:30pm On Nov 17, 2015
This got me rolling grin.. just had to share A graduate in Biology from University of Benin was having difficulty in finding a job. He saw an advert in one of the daily newspapers for a job in a zoo. In the interview, the manager told him that their gorilla, which had been tourists' attraction had died so they needed someone to dress up & pretend as gorilla. The graduate was embarrassed, but since the salary was OK, he accepted the job. The 1st day, he put on the gorilla skin & entered the cage, he started jumping up and down, beat his chest & roared like a gorilla. The next day, he put on a gorilla skin & started moving around the zoo again & mistakenly entered another cage and found himself staring at a lion. The lion roared & rushed towards him. The scared graduate quickly forgot that he was supposed to act like a gorilla & started shouting like a human being, "Help! Help!" The lion leaped onto him, knocked him to the ground &whispered in his ear "Sodiq" it's me Lekan, your course mate. Shut up or we'll both lose our jobs! Na wetin unemployment de cause http://www.jobzilla.ng/2015/11/just-for-laughs.html?m=1
