In this article, I show you my top twelve tips for writing effective Google ads.

I’ve been testing the Google pay-per-click advertising system for a while, with much success. These tips will help you create ads that generate higher click-through rates, and lower cost per click.

Writing Effective Google Ads.
1. Target The Right Audience

Target the right audience by selecting the language and countries that you want to target. For example, I exclude all countries where English is not understood by a large percentage of the population.

2. Refine Your Keywords

Use square brackets “[…]” around your keyword/s.

For example:

[google]

[google adwords]

Your ad will only show when the search is for the exact keyword phrase you have included within the brackets.

The ad will not show for searches that include other keywords. In our example, this would be for searches such as “google search,” or “google news.”

3. Test Multiple Ads Simultaneously

When writing effective Google ads, always test 2 (or more) ads simultaneously. This is what is known in the print industry as an A/B split test. Find out which one produces the higher click-through ratio. Then replace the weaker performing ad with a new one. Continue this process in your never-ending quest to get the highest click-through ratio possible.

4. Track The Return-On-Investment Of Each Ad

Google tracks the click-through ratio of each ad. But it doesn’t track the conversion ratio. Use a special tracking link in each ad to track its conversion ratio. For example, you could attach each ad with an affiliate tracking system link. Make sure each ad produces a return on investment ROI.

5. Include Targeted Keywords In Your Ad

Include the targeted keywords in the headline and the description of the ad. Google will highlight searched keywords in bold in the ad. When people scan search results, they look for the keywords they have entered. Searched keywords highlighted in bold certainly help to catch the user’s attention. For this reason, ads with searched keywords usually perform better than ones without.

6. Sell The Benefits

Spell out one or more major benefits in your ad. For example, make more money, stay younger looking, lose weight, get healthier, live happier, etc.

The Police in Rivers State have arrested two pastors for allegedly raping a 27-year old member of the National Youths Service Corps.

The corps member is observing her primary assignment at the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.

The pastors, identified as Austin Emmanuel and Peter Davies, are currently being detained at the State Criminal and Investigation and Intelligence Department, Port Harcourt.

The Ondo State chapter of South-West regional security outfit, Amotekun, has arrested a Fulani man, identified as Adamu Yusuf, and his 65 cows for destroying crops on some farms in the Oda area of Akure, the state capital.

Some of the crops allegedly destroyed were maize, cassava and yam tubers that were reportedly worth N5m.

It was gathered that the herdsman and the cows were caught in the act at night by the Amotekun corps, who reportedly moved in after the affected farmers had reported the matter. After the arrest, the suspect and his cows were taken to the corps’ headquarter.

According to a source, the suspect and his cows were, however, released after he paid an undisclosed sum of money to the affected farmers.

A local lawmaker in Akwa Ibom state, Uduak Nseobot, has reportedly appeared before a state high court in Uyo, the state capital, for allegedly assaulting a woman and stripping her naked in the public. Nseobot is a councillor in Ibiono Ibom local government area, Akwa Ibom state, Premium Times reports.

According to Legit.ng  Nseobot and his wife, Aniedi, were charged to court on July 11 by the Akwa Ibom state government for allegedly kidnapping, assaulting, and publicly stripping the woman, Iniubong Essien, whom they had accused of stealing some money.

The couple claimed the money was “sprayed” on them at their wedding. However, Ms Essien, who has been a close friend to the councillor’s wife for about 10 years, denied stealing the money. She said she assisted the Nseobots in cooking and serving food to their wedding guests and that she was not even the person who helped the couple to pick money donated to them at the wedding. The councillor and his wife, supported by their friends, were said to have abducted Ms Essien from her home in Uyo in the morning, around November 2018, and drove her to a village in Ibiono, about 27 kilometres. She was then taken to the village hall around 10am.

Narrating her ordeal to Premium Times, Ms Essien, who is over 40 years old, said:

“I WAS BEATEN AND FORCED TO WALK STARK NAKED IN THE VILLAGE HALL, THEY REMOVED MY DRESS, MY BRA, AND MY PANT.

“PEOPLE WERE INSIDE THE VILLAGE HALL, I THINK HE (THE COUNCILLOR) MAY HAVE TOLD THEM THAT HE WAS BRINGING A THIEF FOR THEM TO BEAT, SO THE WHOLE PLACE WAS FILLED WITH PEOPLE. “HE WAS MIXING CHARCOAL WITH PEPPER TO RUB ON MY BODY, BUT HE DIDN’T RUB (IT) ON ME. THEY TIED A ROPE AROUND MY WAIST AND SAID I MUST DANCE NAKED BEFORE THE VILLAGE PEOPLE.”

She said the councillors, his wife, and their friends used their mobile phones to take photos and videos of her, while she was naked and being beaten. At the courtroom, the councillor, Nseobot, stood in the dock with a forlorn look. However, his wife, said to be resident in the US, was not present in the court.

The judge, Archibong Archibong, struck out the wife’s name from the charge sheet, following a request from the prosecution counsel, Godwin Udom. The prosecution counsel withdrew his earlier application for a bench warrant against the councillor.

The counsel to the accused, Mfon Ben, informed the court he has filed an application challenging the validity of the charges against his client. Ben's request that the councillor should not take his plea until the court disposes of his objection was accepted by the judge. The judge also adjourned to October 14 for the court to hear the argument on the preliminary objection. Ms Essien, the victim of the alleged assault, is a trader in Uyo who sells cloths and household items. “I feel very sad. “I don’t have a way to express how I feel. All I want is justice,” she said she recalled the incident.
