A barber in Asaba was reportedly assulted today by some soldiers for cutting a wrong hairstyle on his daughter. Activist, Prince Gwamnishu who shared the story online wrote

Received a call from a barber to please rescue his boy from further maltreatment by soldiers (fully dressed in Army Uniform).

We couldn't get to the scene due to wrong address giving by the caller. (Apologies).

WHAT HAPPENED
The man who led the soldiers took her daughter to the saloon yesterday to cut her hair and told the barber the hair style he want for his daughter.

Unfortunately, the barber couldn't perfect the hair style and the man refused to pay, took her daughter to another barber shop.

At about 9:46am, this morning he stormed the barber shop with soldiers and assaulted the barber.

We asked the neighbors around and they gave same statement.

The building was completed 13 years after the church started its construction - The general overseer of Deeper Life Church said the new building was to make worshippers comfortable in the presence of God Deeper Life Bible Church has opened its multi-million naira building in Lagos after 13 years of wait by members of the church. During the inauguration of the church on Tuesday, April 23, which was started and completed by donations from members of the church, there were rounds of praise and worship as well as raised voices in gratitude to God for the completion of the building. Punch reports that the event was witnessed by the congregation including many political leaders. The church was said to have been constructed with a 30,000 four-level amphitheatre which comes with a central air-conditioning units, chiller farm and air-handing units.

The toilet facilities in the building is connected to a Central Sewage System while there are standby generators and panel rooms, 7.5 MVA dedicated public power, and 2.5 MVA transformers. There is also a multi-purpose hall, water treatment plant, modern sewage treatment plant, two industrial boreholes and firefighting equipment whiel the main building has fire hydrant and hose reels, office facilities on five floors, six and 12-passenger elevators, among others.

While speaking during the inauguration, the general overseer of the church, William Kumuyi, said the new building was to make worshippers comfortable in the presence of God. "About 13 years ago, we knew that we were taking a leap of faith, but we trusted the lord that he would not only provide all we needed, but also direct the project to a successful conclusion. And today, we have even surpassed our expectation. “We embarked on the additional projects because we are convinced that the task of developing and modernising of our society cannot be left to the government alone. Individuals, non-governmental organisations and even corporate organisations, including religious groups, should be involved, as much as they can, in the spiritual, as well as physical uplift of our state and country.

Unknown gunmen have again invaded a church in Benue, shooting seven people dead in Logo local government area (LGA) of the state on Thursday morning April 26th.

Chairman of the local government area, Richard Nyajo, who confirmed the incident, said the gunmen invaded three villages in Mbamondo clan in early hours of the day, opening fire on people who were asleep in the church and school. The victims were taking refuge at the church.

The remains of the victims have been deposited in the morgue.

This attack comes two days after two priests and 17 church members were killed in Gwer west local government area of the state.

A dreaded gang leader, who has been terrorising Ukanafun and Etim Ekpo in Akwa Ibom state, has met his waterloo.

The deceased, said to be a successor to the slain most wanted Ukanafun gang leader, Iso Akpafid, was shot dead in gun battle with the police officers today.

Briefing newsmen today, the State Commissioner of Police, Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi disclosed that several gang members arrested and guns, bullets and other dangerous weapons recovered.

Two Boko Haram members identified as, Ibrahim Ahmed and Sani Argungu, have been discharged by a Federal High Court in Abuja for lack of diligent prosecution - The defendants who have been in detention since 2012 and 2013 were arraigned for alleged ties with Boko Haram - Justice Binta Nyako added that the defendants, would be monitored A Federal High Court in Abuja, on Wednesday, April 11, discharged two persons, Ibrahim Ahmed and Sani Argungu, arraigned for alleged ties with Boko Haram, for lack of diligent prosecution. Discharging the defendants, Justice Binta Nyako noted that Ahmed had been in detention since 2013 while Argungu had been detained since 2012 and the prosecution had yet to call its witnesses. “The defendants have been in custody with no trial because the prosecution cannot bring its witnesses to court. So, I discharge the defendants and the suit is hereby struck out,” she said.

Nyako, however, said that whenever the prosecution was able to get its witnesses to attend court, the defendants could be re-arraigned. The judge added that the defendants, although discharged, would be monitored and warned them not to associate with any person of questionable character. Ibrahim, who said in his statement that he was a security guard at the Government House, Sokoto, was alleged to have been responsible for giving passage to Boko Haram members.

Ng'ang'a, a teacher by profession had been admitted at a private hospital before being moved to KNH. According to the doctors, the change of environment and treatment seemed to have improved her medical condition. "We found she had a lot of organ dysfunction and we had to support most of her organs. We successfully did that and she came out of her coma," said Ann Mugera, the Head of ICU at KNH. "I have been in ICU for long, 16 years. The ones who have been in coma for long did not make it. This is the most exciting and positive thing I have ever seen," said Esther Murunga, another ICU nurse. The hospital which has been on the spotlight recently for all the wrong reasons could undoubtedly be banking on this prodigy to redeem itself.

President Muhammadu Buhari said he had not approved $1billion for arms procurement - The minister of defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, had on Wednesday, April 4, said the president released the fund - Buhari through his aide, Senator Ita Enang, emphasised that the fund is still undergoing executive standard operating procedure President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, April 9, denied approving the release of $1 billion for arms' procurement. Daily Trust reports that the minister of defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, had told State House reporters last Wednesday, April 4, after Buhari met with security chiefs that the president approved the release of the fund, from the Excess Crude Account, for military equipment's purchase to fight insecurity.

It gathered that the National Assembly had kicked against such approval, saying it could not stand without recourse to the legislature. But Buhari, in a statement Monday, April 9, by his senior special assistant on National Assembly matters, Senator Ita Enang, said the fund had not been approved. "The said sum has not and cannot be approved for spending by Mr. President," the presidential aide emphasised. According to Enang, the process of approving the money for use is still undergoing executive standard operating procedure before presenting same to the National Assembly for approval.

The senate has confirmed five nominees of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Those confirmed are Aisha Ahmad and Edward Lametek as deputy governors and Adeola Adenikinju, Aliyu Sanusi and Robert Asogwa as members of the monetary policy committee (MPC).

The nominees were confirmed after Rafiu Ibrahim, chairman senate committee on banking, insurance and financial institutions, presented a report at the red chamber on Thursday.

Asheikh Maidudgu was the only one rejected by the lawmakers.

The upper legislative chamber had initially refused to confirm the nominees, stalling the MPC meeting of the apex bank in January and March.
