lol you guys are at it again. it's a no brainier that despite being an English speaking country majority of you fail English in weac exam's. this is a poorly attempted hook news by Nigerian brown envelope journalist and blogger's , despite the flaw's being obvious a lot of you still take it hook line and sinker because of one word attaching two subjects "beg" . better that this news is just for making jest than the real deal, else its pathetic.. this initiative is a clear plan by the Ghana government to become the most friendly business country in Africa and drive industrialization , trade and revenue as stated in their manifesto.. over the months the news articles covered it as trade with other countries, but when it came to Nigeria it turns to aid! what kind of demented thinking is this .

Did you expect to see a cross when it's not a gospel song.

Any song that doesn't glorify God is of the devil symbols or no symbols. Know that today
this is a daft and biased statement, so a song dedicated to Mother's or about life is of the devil too. so it's safe to say that the text in songs of Solomon that glorify the woman's body is of the devil too.

i agree with you. you should also note that ghana economic progress is also very relevant now. Nigerians business men recognized it. And they are moving in and extablishing their companies to benefit from it. Lagos is west africa business power house no doubt. Accra too has taken a position in west africa that can never be overlook. We as africa should be able to tolerate each other and welcome diffrences.

there a lot of ways both countries can forge toghether to strenghten their economy. ghana is tapping into the nigeria entertainment industry. nigerians are tapping into ghana education system. base on my calculation. About 5percent of nigerian graduate are educated in ghana. So i dont see why there should be issues.
this is the point I have been trying to make.. is it to hard to swallow

I said earlier that I try to avoid such threads cos of the level of immaturity that reeks out of it, are we here to learn or to pick words and criticize. I got mad love for Nigerians and I even have more Nigerian friends than Ghanaians . so when I come up here and see some degratory statements and half truths it piss me off. you try to correct people and its considered an attempt to affront. like how do you learn which such an uncultured manner. both Ghana an Nigeria with their immense wealth and intellectual resource are still developing nations. isn't it mediocre to then think of punching weights amongst ourselves when there is a bigger picture. if we are fully developed there will be no contesting the facts on here . the whole world will know. as we are only 30 mins by air from each other.

Of course, Aflao road is better than 6 years.

If you look at the history of Nigeria, civilians only ruled for 10 years out of 40 years of military regime, before we settled for democracy in 1999.

Believe me when the civilian ruled from 1960 - 1966, we were the envy of the world. I don't want to go into full details.

Though the military regime executed big projects but it was left to decay. Like I said, it was left to decay under the same military regime. As you have rightly said that maintenance culture is the major setbacks but it is no longer the case with some states government but the federal government is still very much guilty of this.

Most of the highrise buildings were done during the civilian rule.

Is Tema the first master planned city in West Africa? Can you give the date of creation?

The last time a Ghanaian friend visited Abuja, he realized he was fed with lies about Nigerian cities. In short, he was blown away.

I can only choose Accra ahead of Abuja if business is considered but in terms of infrastructures, please don't go there. Abuja has gone pass what you saw or think.

What are the factors that made Ghana the aviation hub?
Last year, I saw construction going on at the airport.

Are they building new airport?

I was impressed with the Navy clinic beside the airport.

But if you think Accra will overtake Lagos as the regional and economic hub then you must have great faith. grin
lol.save your depiction's of Lagos or abuja as an Eldorado as I know Nigeria in and out, so easy with the exaggerations. there is really nothing trendy and vibrant about these state's. same old things there.. not friendly and safe, hard to conduct legit biz , it has always been like that. the economic downturn turned it to something else. even as s foreigner I felt the pain as one of my biz went down. so don't try to exaggerate . I know these cities very well.

point! port harcourt even falls short comparing it with tema because the ph city has failed to utilize its full potential, a lot of the potential earnings goes down to Lagos.. just like dangote building a refinery in Lagos instead of the region where the raw material is produced.. its not just about patriotism.. people should use their brains!

Accra and Tema are also very very small in size compared to Abuja municipality, even with all the economic and industrial activities?

You know you confirm my point earlier that a lot of nigerians are ethnocentric and chauvinistic, if you are really interested in knowing the positive sides the web articles you munched from provided the info i stated and much more, if you read it you won't come up telling me this. and what does the size of a city have to do with the revenue being generated in a city..?? is it not the activities in the city that brings revenue. smh.

I love your optimism.
But let's be frank. Tema seems to have failed for a master planned city. Abuja is donkey years ahead of Tema.
Accra is yet to be an economic hub. It has no economic vibrance.

well i will forgive your statement as it shows that you are less informed about the economy of the city

tema plays host to Ghana biggest city port, currently the second busiest port in the region second to lagos, and current expansions to become the biggest and modernised in sub saharan africa, and was built exclusively for port and logistic services, the first master planned city in west africa which served as a success model for the likes of abuja. it serves as one of the biggest industrial hubs in africa, Abuja is not an industrial hub.. its the seat of the nation with mixed use development and light industry, this is a heavy duty city with industrial products including aluminium, steel, processed fish, refined petroleum, textile, chemicals, food products, and cement. and the icing on the topping- tema is dubbed the centre of the world! let that sink in. In a informed and well opinionated circle, you saying accra has no economic vibrance will result into a burst of laughter, and will make you look stupid, accra is considered as a hub in west africa.. the gateway to west africa! the country's economic and administrative hub, Accra is a centre for manufacturing, marketing, finance, insurance, and transportation the city hosts the 4 biggest stock exchange in africa, record breaking modern structures.. an airtropolis , something that has being in the books of nigerian aviation authority but failed to actualize, a vibrant night life and presents west africa first educational hub.. with universities raking over a billion dollars from nigeria students a lone, this is a city considered to house the fastest growing number of millionaires in africa! the forefront of medical tourism in west africa, set to become sub saharan offshore financial capital. West African ict hub with one of the tallest building in Africa. joining the host of konza tech city Kenya and silicon valley. to bring the age of ict development closer to Africans .. make no mistake

My first visit to Ghana was in 2000 and over the years, I have visited more than 40 times.

The road from Aflao border to Tema was very terrible but my first impression of Tema and Accra was very impressive. The stable light, constant water supply, street lights, smooth roads (though some parts were bad), low fence(unlike the wall of Jericho notable in residential houses in Lagos), traffic lights, organized police officers etc made me to be astonished due to the fact that I came from a city (Lagos) were almost all these were in nonexistent as at then. The reason for this can easily be thrased to the ineffective millitary regime.

Lagos was the shadow of itself and the disdain of the world. But take note that before the military regime all these were in place, some Koreans who witnessed it, confirmed Lagos was better than Seoul, in fact better than South Korea.

My point is that the military regime brought regression rather than progression and it was that that drew us back.

However, 18 years after our emancipation from the military regime, I can authoritatively tell you that we have witnessed massive development and progressed beyond imagination though the bad news of terrorism, kidnapping, corruption etc made more headlines in the international media than telling the real story.

Believe me, Accra was far developed than Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt 18 years ago in terms of infrastructures and development but my guy this is no longer the case because during that era there was oil boom and the profits were used to rapidly develop these cities.

Frankly speaking, Lagos and Abuja have developed beyond what Accra can imagine though they(especially Lagos) lag behind in basic infrastructures but I can tell you categorically that these are giving the needed attentions.

Though, I will agree that we should have done better but perhaps if we restructure the system of government.

Ghana was lucky to have J.J Rawlings who forever changed political system that brought stability and economic growth and progress in Ghana.

And to think that Ghanaians are craving for infrastructural development is beyond me, the outcome of the election showed otherwise.

But don't be decived that Nigeria is not progressing and doing nothing.

We know the next step to take and we are doing everything to achieve it.

Restructuring of the system of government perhaps could be the next and right step.

well having lived in lagos i can relate to some of your views, the aflao border road is still under construction just like the mile2 - badagry road which forms part of the west african highway, but i must say that there has been great improvement on the road and alternate routes. i tend to disagree that the urbanization problem of lagos was done by the military alone. it's more of a maintenance culture that needs to be encouraged among the populace, the military regime is responsible for the bridges and flyovers . the likes of third mainland to carter bridge.. the high rises along marina to cms. to the national theatre igamu this was done in the military era.. in the wake of the oil boom, but more could have been done...the problem with nigerians is maintenance culture.. lagos is witnessing what a lot of developing resilient cities like accra is going through.. the rural urban drift and poor urban planning.. which can be attributed to the government and state governments failing to create regional economic hubs just like lagos, tema is one of my best cities in west africa, the first master planned city in west africa. with proper light and drainage connections and pavements. the port city still stands the test of time till today.. it will interest you to know that the city tema has so much potential being that it's the center of the earth! i tell you! imagine wif this potential where to be in dubai..but nevertheless , we are pace setters and will make it happen.. plans are ongoing to transform the place into a world class city and crown it up with an iconic tower with some receptive facilities.. I would only compare accra with lagos as abuja is a newly planned city and port harcourt even with the oil service has no chance .. and even if i were to add abuja ..accra is doing pretty well as its listed amongst the world resilient cities and new master planned districts like the eko atlantic city and cenetary are being built.. accra is also a shadow of itself compared to its real potential but if i were to take a place to live i will take accra hands down.. i value life and security.there is this sense of freedom that leaves me when am in the streets of lagos.you know the saying.. shine your eyes when you live for lagos city.. that attitude is not welcoming.. i cherish every moment that i can be calm and feel secure that to an extent my life and property is safe.. not to talk of the light issue angry.. in terms of biz i will take lagos as it's the biggest commercial nerve in the region and presents immense opportunities .. it's a tough and challenging city but if u know your way around then you good to go. but even at that lagos should brace up for competition as accra is working its way up to serve as a hub of the region.. it has already been crowned the aviation hub center of west africa and more coming up. i long to see more developments from these cities tho
