Was a little surprised by how comfortably we beat the Argentines, but just as surprised FIFA has thought of investigating. The word 'investigating' and FIFA in the same sentence these days just seems squalid somehow. The referees penalty in time added on (if you can call the extent of that amount of time 'added on'- you could have three kids and enjoy retirement in that much time)- Now that was a moment of pure comedic genius worth the price of admission alone! Urgh pleaze! The game is over. The match won. Someone somewhere has way too much time on their hands in my humble opinion ![]() FIFA surely has more important issues to concern themselves with. World Cup bidding process anyone? |

Please could someone point me to a car in the the price range mentioned. I would be very grateful for a response. Thanks |

Sorry for keeping you waiting. Please call Paul on 08034345975. He's a good guy, and may at least be of help in sourcing for what you need parts wise for your car. All the best and let me know how it goes won't you. Oh, and Merry Christmas and an awesome 2011 ahead to you! ![]() |

I'm sorry, er, exactly how does this have to do with Autos? ![]() |

ping2ping, hello there! Just saw your post, and will ask for you to hold on until later this evening before I send the guy- Paul's number. As I type the time is just after 6 in the morning, and I think it's only proper for me to ask Paul for his permission first before I splash his number across an open source forum. I would think it a little unfair that while we enjoy our anonymity under names like ping2ping, and ibdguy, we trade in his (anonymity and contact details) without been good enough to ask his permission first. But not to worry, I'm sure he won't mind. Just think it's a bit too early to get him out of bed to ask. Give me til later today, and I will have done the necessaries and will in turn get back to you. Failing that, one might have to find a more creative way of getting his number across- SMS perhaps! ![]() Will be in touch soon, Have a great day! |

Noticed you were online ping2ping. Any luck with your dashboard issue? |

A very good friend of mine is looking to purchase a Nigerian used or (don't laugh) toks used car for N250, 000. I have already told him he might have better luck setting his spending limit slightly higher at around the 300 mark, but the long and short is we are looking for a decent car that runs well, has as few dings and dents as possible with no hidden flaws for the range mentioned. I have trawled through the autos section trying to find something and disticntly remember someone started a thread a while back for cars valued under the N500, 000 mark, but for the life of me I simply can't seem to find it anywhere. My guy is pretty serious, so if your selling, we be buying so post here and we will work out inspections and the like ASAP if the car looks the part and seems right for him. Look forward to your response |

I think you'll find it would be close to impossible to get that specific part you need off a used dash board for your car. It simply wouldn't be feasible for the parts seller to sell just that part, the question is what would he do when someone came calling for the WHOLE and COMPLETE dashboard? So in that regard, your local mechanic (didn't know we were privileged to enjoy the international variety in Nigeria- sorry just yanking your chain! ![]() I suspect you, like me get pretty attached to your cars, and as such can't stand a single nut or bolt missing or loose. The reality is, with used cars it can turn into a very expensive personality trait for a car owner. If you can live with the problem, then try to do so as I'm sure God will provide a newer and better car in time. If you can't wait that long, Ladipo is your best bet for the dashboard replacement. Just remember to cash a decent amount of money from your bank to cover the cost implication. If you need a fairly reliable go-to guy there, post again and I could forward his number on to you. Good luck with everything, |

Thanks for your reply. Having waited for so long for someone to post a reply, I got in touch with some guys I know at Computer Village who sell phones. Apparently they have the Wave. Just trying to get the juice together to actually pay for it. Your option would however not have worked for me as I don't 'do' second hand phones. Its new or nothing. But thanks all the same and all the best, |

Can't imagine why people have stuck with Network Crapiolla i.e MTN for so long! It has always taken other networks saving us from their greed for subscribers to enjoy any level of affordable communication. Left to the yellow brigade, we would still be on per minute call charges paying 50 bucks a throw if not for Glo taking them on a few years ago! Thank heavens for the real shake-up Airtel are aggressively trying to enforce. For those who are still sceptically doubting this latest tariff offer, well don't- the 2 Good tariff works, and works well for that matter. You actually don't need any credit on your phone to migrate. You will however need to recharge your account to obviously make calls; from where the first accumulated 60 seconds will cost you 36 Naira each new day. There after, all calls are charged at the bargain plan rate of 20 kobo per second or 12 Naira each minute. I have it good authority from an Airtel manager friend of mine that its a direct response to the bleeding of customers to Etisalat who apparently now have between 5 and 6 million subscribers, as Eti offer 25k to all networks currently. I've always liked the customer friendly approach of Econet Wireless, Vodafone, V-Mobile, Celtel, Zain, Airtel or whatever corporate incarnation they have chosen to take over the years, though I've often found them slow on the up-take when offering customers value added services before now. Hopefully as Airtel, they can start repaying customers for all the loyalty and putting up with a multitude of name changes and corporate shifts over the years. No doubt this tariff plan is a massive and potentially hugely successful place to start. Go Airtel!!! |

Would love to know if the stunning Samsung Wave S8500 or new Samsung Wave II S8530 are now available in Nigeria. If so, how much would each set me back and has anyone bought either of the phones from a reputable retail shop they could recommend at a value for money price or do you have it in stock? To say that I'm a huge fan of both phones would be make the understatement of the year. Thanks in advance to anyone who responds, |

This is really sad. Is there anything that Nigerians won't sell? We seem to be at the wrong end of all sporting stories of recent, first the doping scandals from the Commonwealth Games, and now this. To put your hand up in a room of internationals and proudly state you are a Nigerian was always difficult thanks to our notorious scam connections, this now makes it close to impossible! Depressing! ![]() |

The plot thickens at Liverpool, hope we are starting to see the very last throws of the diabolical helmsmanship of messrs Hicks and Gillette. Also all over Sky News for those die hard 'Pool fans who would like to follow the story as it unlfolds. Although the original posters question was to do with which in auto and manual transmissions was faster, not surprisingly this has turned into a bit of a 'which is the better between the two' thread. I own a manual car. Actually my car is a bit of an anomally as most of the used imports for my '99-2002 Accord are normally autos. I love the in-control feel that manuals give you, and have never owned an automatic, though I have obviously driven them on occasion. From my perspective, I have a slight edge with my cars get up and go over other auto trans versions of the same Accord (barring the obviously bigger V6 engine that is a variant of the Accord, which would of course leave my car for dead in a straight line. Come to think of it, in any kind of line you care to imagine for that matter). What I hate is driving a manual in traffic, or up any kind of incline. Autos are great for straight line lazy driving. Manuals are and will always be the purists preferred way of shifting a car. Any true petrol-head that tells you different is quite frankly not a true petrol head! 2 Likes |

Lets face it, a lot of people who visit the Autos section of nairaland aren't really peddling anything or aren't really interested in anything been peddled for that matter either. They visit to comment on the gorgeous pictures of the cars and when the itch of that dream auto been right there in front of them and not having the necessary readies to afford the ride gets too much, they can't help but to begin 'negotiating' on a car worth say N2m and asking if N700, 000 is acceptable! I've always found it funny, while sellers have had to grow pretty thick skins to stop themselves from skinning alive those itchy fingered few. Anyway, I just thought it might be fun if some of that angst was positively redirected, by starting this thread for an All Time Top Five! Here is how I propose it works: List five cars in descending order that you have either driven, owned or basically dream of owning stating why or how you have ranked them on your top 5. Post pictures if you want, though I strongly advise against posting pictures of your current car if you have no intention of selling it lest a nairalander offer you N200, 000 for your N2m ride! Have fun, and hopefully we will get the best of both worlds- beautiful pictures to gawp at, and reasonable discussion to mull over. By the way, all car dealers and sellers who are often frustrated with 'bogus offers', thank me later! ![]() |

In this high tech, fast moving, over exposed world in which we live where not much shocks a lot of us anymore, I have to say these pictures shock, horrify and totally rubbish anything I've seen before. To those who lost their lives, if indeed these pictures are real (they are so 'spectacular', if that is the correct term, in their grotesqueness that you would be forgiven for believing otherwise), may their souls rest in peace. For those of us who have stomached seeing them, one hopes they have the desired effect on us which I hope was the original aim of the author of this thread, acting as a significant visual deterrent to daft and dangerous driving which lets face it is the hallmark of Nigerian driving these days. By the way Mr.otikpoko, I hope you took no pleasure from posting these pictures; for it would be sicker than the pictures themselves, and lets face it - that would truly be saying something. As an after thought, also hope no minors have seen these pictures, for they surely would be traumatised by the very sensitive nature of their content. |
