No point insulting the guy, he meant well just that he doesn't understand what priorities are, he sounds like those men that celebrate baby Owambe, buy huge igele for his wife when he hasn't paid rent. grin grin grin

Everyone wants an advanced Nigerian military in all its facets, however, presently, we have skinnies in our backyard, between modernizing the airforce and routing out skinnies which should take priority is basic common sense for anyone that has one.

I like your analogy.

If 16 Alpha jets, 13 L-29s, 8 F-7Ns fighters and over 10 attack helicopters cannot defeat Boko Haram, an enemy with no air force then Nigeria have no business having an air-force.

Your post make no sense.

Over 15,000 America aircrafts couldn't defeat taliban or alqeada not to talk of ISIS.

how did you know he was buried by the NA? Do you have any proof? What if he was missing in action and no one knows where he died? It will cost the Nigerian Army nothing if the family is informed.

ABUJA – THE Nigerian Airforce,Saturday night, said a carefully planned major attack on troops of the Nigerian Army deployed in Operation Lafia Dole, in the North east, was foild by its Air Task Forces earlier in the day. The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Mshl Sadique Abubakar inspecting the newly weaponized NAF alpha jet after test. The Air Force, in a statement by its spokesman, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, said but for the quick intervention of its Air Task Force, the insurgents would have engaged the ground troops on another fierce battle. Daramola’s statement read thus:”Air Task Force,ATF of Operation LAFIYA DOLE, over the night of 14 September and early morning of 15 September 2018, tracked and destroyed some Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) vehicles as they were attempting to launch fresh attacks on ground troops locations at Gudumbali and Damasak in Borno State. ” The mission was initiated following intelligence reports indicating that a convoy of BHT vehicles had been sighted within the Damasak – Gudumbali Axis. “Accordingly, a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform was dispatched to search for and locate the convoy of vehicles. “The ISR aircraft spotted vehicles at a location 24 Km SW of Gudumbali heading in a Northwards direction. ” Consequently, a helicopter gunship was scrambled to attack the convoy. “The helicopter arrived the location and was vectored to the position of the vehicles, which, at the time, were about midway between Nigerian Army (NA) locations at Metele and Arege. ” Following communications with ground troops, the BHT vehicles were positively identified, isolated and attacked by the helicopter gunship in successive strikes. “In the process, four of the vehicles were immobilized and their occupants neutralized. “The ISR aircraft continued to track the remaining five vehicles, which initially dispersed but later regrouped and continued their retreat to Tumbun Rego. “They were subsequently attacked at their harbour location by the freshly rearmed helicopter gunship; with three direct hits recorded on the vehicles. “A follow-up attack on the newly discovered insurgents’ logistics base in Tumbun Rego was conducted by two Alpha Jet aircraft later in the morning today. ” The makeshift buildings and other falcilities in the base were accordingly destroyed in the air strike. The NAF, working in concert with surface forces, will sustain the momentum of operations with a view to destroying vestiges of the insurgents in the Lake Chad green fringes and other areas in Northern Borno.”

Secondly, i made this clear in my post "What ever they left was nothing compared to what boko haram brought in. So its not really a big plus".

Bokoharam tactics now is hit hard. Capture Ammunitions and fall out of the area. Gudumbali now under our control.

My question? Where did over 300 bokoharam go after the attack? If ISWAP can strike a whole local government, why can't the military on an offensive dislodge them out of their own location?

I'm only concerned about the stolen weapons. They're gearing up for something but who am I? Just a WC.

I have been under an intense fire fight with these bastards but as it is, what I have learnt is then know who they're attacking. They know these guys on ground are armed with riffles, gun trucks and RPG.

They come with grenade launchers, rocket etc. My question why is grenade launcher in limited use by our own? Proper usage of these equipments is also necessary too. My opinion is, find a way to put SF with some of these guys with limited coin experience.

I have been with MSF and came under attack at our temporary location. First thing you do is to spread out. Everyone knows the right place to face. Repelling the attack heavily with gun trucks, mortars from my side and GL from the msf.

300 boko haram members disappeared? Is this a joke?

What is the airforce doing with all their ISR planes at a time like this?

If they had time to retreat, they must also have time to destroy most of the weapons they can't carry along.

This one weak me sha, because something more than this will happen again and very soon.

The Nigerian Army on Sunday said it had restored total nomalcy in Gundubala and environs with combined effort of troops of Operation Lafiya Dole deployed to the area. Newsmen report that scores of jihadists in gun trucks and various caliber of arms, stormed the town and engaged in fierce battle that lasted for many hours with the troops. Brig.-Gen. Texas Chukwu, Director Army Public Relations, who disclosed this in a statement in Maiduguri, said combined troops of 82 Division Task Force Brigade and 158 Task Force Battalion conducting Counter Insurgency Operations in North Eastern Nigeria, had encounter with Boko Haram insurgents in Gudumbali in Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State. “The encounter took place when the insurgents attacked the community, set some buildings ablaze and quickly withdrew from the community. However, no human casualty was recorded in the encounter. “The troops have regrouped and normalcy have been restored. The troops have also been reinforced with additional troops to dominate the general area. “It will be recalled that Gudumbali is one of the communities in Borno that were recently reoccupied by Internally Displaced Persons who had voluntarily returned to their ancestral homes. “The people of Gudumbali community and Guzamala Local Government in general are urged to remain calm and resilient as Operation Lafiya Dole troops tirelessly combat the terrorists. “They are also implored to maintain high level of vigilance and monitor strange faces to prevent fleeing Boko Haram terrorists from infiltrating and hibernating in their communities. “The good people of the North East are assured of the unalloyed resolve of troops of Operation Lafiya Dole to continue to combat the Boko Haram terrorists in the region,”Chukwu said. THE Nigerian Air Force, yesterday, said it has destroyed structures and ammunition depot of the Boko Haram in Sambisa Forest.

Air Force spokesman, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola,in a statement, said the Air Task Force also destroyed the terrorists’ equipment at Alafa Yagayaga in Sambisa Forest as well as a suspected Boko Haram terrorists’ ammunition depot in Kusuma on the fringes of Lake Chad, Borno State.

“ The air strikes against Boko Haram terrorists at Alafa Yagayaga were targeted at structures within the settlement that had been identified via previous Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions to be rendezvous (RV) points for the insurgents,”t he statement said.

“Consequently, a combination of NAF fighter aircraft and helicopter gunships were detailed to carry out air interdiction on the locations, while the NAF ISR aircraft conducted Battle Damage Assessment (BDA). The attack platforms acquired the targets and took turns to attack the location, destroying the structures and killing most of the BHTs in the process.

“The few surviving Boko Haram terrorists, seen fleeing the area, were strafed and neutralized by the helicopter gunships.”

So what about the large cache of weapons and equipment left behind, from my sources BHT carted away with bounty of them.
We can't be fighting these jerkass like that. Indirectly harming bokoharam to fight and prolonging the fight.

Brother, you heard just like we all hear different things online. The truth of the matter is that we all believe when a military base is overrun weapons most be left behind.

What ever they left was nothing compared to what boko haram brought in. So its not really a big plus.

My opinion, soldiers on ground are doing their best. You don't take knife to gun fights.

The regular troops find it hard to sustain a heavy attack without the help of specialized units.

Like you are being robbed with guns and you are think the knife in your pocket will add to the robber's capability.

If those troops had the large cache of arms you claim they left, they wouldn't have retreated without a good fight.

People complain like babies here sha. Fighting terrorist is not the same as fighting bandits.

If the military got info. 3 days before, the town was also deserted as at the time of the attack, the boys on ground were also asked to retreat and even directed out of the area by NAF plane and most of you think they know nothing about it?

It's not about the approach, the military cares about result.

All i see here is more like a Honeypot. You guys should relax abeg. We go hear story soon.

From N165 = $1 in 2015
To N520 = $1 in 2016
Back to N360= $1 in 2017 ( officially) 305 per $

With all this minimum wage haven't changed.

I just hope we get back to N165 per $ again when things are back to order.

I think one of our serious problem is over-population.

For me, I think its under utilization of resources.

Producing oil of about 1.8mbpd alone wouldn't serve a population of almost 200 million. Algeria produce 1.2mbpd with population of just 40 million.

Our economy should have been dependent on agricultural, manufacturing, mining and oil. We had all but the other 3 died because we all wanted quick money. Little work plenty money.

For example, textile industries in Nigeria around 1990 were around 150 with a population less than 100 million but today we have less than 30 textile industries with almost 200 million population.

Until we learn to utilize our resources we will keep moving in circles.
