Family / Re: A Plea To Nigerians Abroad. by Ibukune(m): 10:53pm On Jul 01
I don't know about others, but I am doing my best. 3 out of the 4 of us lives abroad and we all ensure we support extended family back home. I am starting a block industry, goat farm and turkey for my brother.

For friends back home, I try to engage them in their crafts, some are making furnitures for me, some are doing some IT designs for me, while I have one helping to build. I pay them well above their quotation as a way of helping them. Thats the little we can do, but one thing I noticed is that a lot seems to be dubious, while some also prefer the free money rather than wanting to be engage.

"they provided proof of funds at a lower rate". pls explain it further or clearly.
Good afternoon.

Someone that provided proof of funds when pounds was 1600 and now that pounds is at 1900 won't be able to meet up with the proposed fees.

They should include the duration of time the school gave them to offset their outstanding fees in their plaquecards. The school admitted them because they provided evidence that they can pay their fees, where is all that money? Sorry, you can't keep owing school fees and expect for your admission not to be terminated eventually. Once your admission is terminated, you have no business left in the country. Japa via the study route is the worst economic decision anybody that's not upper class can make.

some of you don't understand simple ideas, and you won't ask questions. They provided proof of funds at a lower rate, the instability in Naira made the fees useless.

Travel / Re: Yearly Salary & Monthly Income After Tax Deductions In UK by Ibukune(m): 1:50pm On May 05
Neoteny:

Average monthly rent in UK is £1,200 (london x2 that amount), average utilities is £200, £35 for internet, phone around £40, groceries around £500 monthly for a family of 3, and average bus and tram pass (for 1x person) for a month is £100

That's £2,075

Given the average annual salary is £40,000 for full-time jobs and the monthly net is averagely £2,693, your leftover is:

£2,693 less £2,075 = £618, or £20 per day.

This doesn't include clothing, toiletries, movies, haircuts, gate passes, rentals, health, insurances, entertainment, savings, gifts, etc

You are part of the people dishing out false info. I stay in a 2 bedroom and pay £925 because we are a family of 3 (some people pay as low as 550 in some city like Newcastle) my bills and utility amount to £350, our running cost a month js £400, our Internet is just £40, we use 300 for feeding in a month, that's because we eat well and only do African food. My self and my wife earn about 4k pounds a month. Do your maths and use your teeth to count your tongue.

which grocery are u buying at £500 a month? do you know what £500 can buy? u guys should take this lie easy now?

No where on earth is easy, but naija own is too much. ordinary fuel is a luxury.

You people should stay in Nigeria and discourage people from looking for a good life. I am in the 3rd salary grade, my wife is in the 2nd. We live a very comfortable life, leave in a 2 bed apartment with my only child, we feed well, wear good clothes, pay all my bills, drive a reasonable car and still save 1k pounds every month. After chesting all the bills from parents and begibegi from Nigeria. I am in my mid thirties, even if I save for 3 years and come back to Naija, I can do a good business. Mind u, I got to the UK Oct 2022.

NB: I am still doing higher courses to even step higher in my earnings.
Life is not easy anywhere, but naija own is too much. Nigerians prefer suffering and justifying the suffering.

Hello

The rate on Oanda on the day of your application is the rate the ECO will refer to.

You shouldn't worry too much if you checked and it was okay the day you applied.

Cheers

Thank you Duchess. I heard this, just that I am not certain of it.

Good day gurus in the house. Student visa application was submitted day before ytday with official rate still at 586 (pof was 12.2m), unfortunately, the rate rose to 625 this morning. Hence, the pof provided for the application is not enough. What is the way forward, and is it true that the rate on the day of application is used and not the day of biometrics?

First of all. You need to learn to respect people's opinion. Its a sign of maturity. Moreover, I said, I was speaking from my personal experience, which could be difference from yours. Moreover, if you haven't been to Europe, you have no knowledge about life in Europe. Just remain quiet and let people who have first hand information enlighten you.

I will reiterate my stand, stop discouraging people from going to a country you haven't been to.

No offence, no quarrel. Peace ✌

Thank you so much for this. I'm also into Tech, UI/UX specifically and even under my 2yrs experience, I would've gotten a job for a company based in Berlin as an intern but I was required to be on site. So many DMS to companies on LinkedIn that I could've gotten jobs from but most of them only hire within the EU.

My intention now is to travel through study route by doing a Masters Degree in design, saw one school in Estonia already for 3900 Euros. I just need to work more harder to raise the funds. I'm sure it will happen. Estonia is also my choice because I heard and read it's a big IT hub in Europe.
But how many yrs of experience do you have?

IT is in high demand in Europe, infact, IT earns more than medical fields here in the UK. But the truth is that, just a few companies will be ready to employ you directly from Nigeria, even if its going to be a remote job, you are expected to be within the EU or UK as the case maybe. Because at certain times, maybe once in 2 months, your physical presence will be needed.

Way forward. Sincerely, I don't know much about Estonia. I don't. But with 3900 Euros, why not consider the UK, maybe u can save a little more for same study route. Study isn't that expensive in the UK, most especially if you are single, there are schools which accept 14,000 pounds, thats like 7.2m, why not try those means. And u can switch once u get here. In as much as u are good in what you do.

You will be glad you did.

Money is not everything in Life I don't expect alot to understand that statement. As for me God can take that money but just give me peace of mind! Money is just a paper printed by machine created by human being!!! If you're doing good in Nigeria be a source of inspiration to others do one or two things in your community. Our country can be great we just need to change our mindset and how we think!!

If money was a problem, majority of those who left Naija won't. With an average salary of 500k, working remotely from home, driving a good car and living in a comfortable apartment. I shouldn't have contemplating traveling. But like I said, the moment your needs move from what to eat, what to spend and what to wear. You will understand that Naija cannot give you any other thing, most especially if you are not into looting public funds.

Is it a Tech Skill? And which country in Europe?

Yes. I am into Tech, but apart from being in tech in naija, there are boundless opportunities here to even learn.

I am going to use my case as an example, I got to the UK, I have to go for a particular course, I paid 2200 pounds for the course, at completion, I got 3 offers, the least pay is 55k pounds aside benefit per annum.
If I was in naija, where will I be able to raise 2200 pounds, where will I be able to get such jobs.

Nigerians are doing well here, of course, the lazy ones are also complaining. When I got to the UK, the first Job I got, a young Nigerian (36 years) is the operation manager for one of the biggest sport company in the world.

My advice again, if you are young, opened minded, ready to learn and can afford traveling legitimately to Europe, pls do. If you are smart and good in what you do, Europe has 1 million and 1 opportunities for you to flourish. Don't mind those telling you to set up business in Nigeria, I did and my hands got burnt.

Lol it might be difficult in "6 months" you come even put time frame. So after 6 months you go don dey make am? You no dey hear stories for YouTube, Facebook, Ajazeera, about life for abroad? You never read stories of people wey still dey struggle after 11 years?? You never see for News beggers in New York street? You never see for inside News people wey dey sleep inside car wey no fit afford Rent? My 2 cent make I no lie regardless life is overall good there but don't expect too much and don't think it all rosey over there before you embark on your journey if you want to. As you dey go live your mama, papa, sisters, brothers you fit no come back meet them alive, you fit no come back after 10, 12 years or more, if you come back after so many years some of your friends wey no go anywhere still fit better pass you. It is possible after your return deep down you'll be filled with gilt asking yourself why did you leave home in the first place. Lastly remember say Old ago go come. This journey just dey too stressful and mentally detraining MAKE WE MAKE NIGERIA GREAT!!

I am speaking from my own experience, 6 months is enough to stabilise when u move to Europe legitimately like I did, with a skill, certificate and hardworking. You will be fine in max 6 months.

Stop discouraging people from going to a country you have never been to, I have been in Nigeria, I have been in Europe. I know what I am saying.

I didn't say it is a bad country, but it is obvious you don't really know about country, for God's sake, Italian is the official language in Italy, what is a Nigerian who can't speak Italian doing there, thats the first challenge you will face in Italy, because, no one will give you a job, when this happens you start shouting that you are suffering in Europe.

Your expectations go SHOCK you!! Make una no dey sell dreams wey dey far from reality!! I'm not against traveling for opportunities but do so with proper planning and expect the unexpected expect a long walk to success and have it in mind you may make it or not because in the end future is not guarantee wherever you're in the World! There are people in America or in the UK citizens who doesn't have 200 dollars in their account

Where una dey get this una statistics from now, 200 dollars is what someone can make in a day. Make una no dey lie now, for the fact that these guys can't dash 200 dollars doesn't mean they don't have it. If I may ask, did u check his account statement to know he doesn't have 200 dollars?

To whom it may concern, if you have the legal means to leave Naija, pls do, it might be difficult settling down in the first 6 months, but sincerely, you will be fine afterwards. Try it and even if you are not fine, you still have your naija passport, you can go back. Don't allow people who don't have international passport deceive you.
