Meet the First Woman to ride solo from East Africa to West Africa on a motorcycle, Ebaide Joy Udoh



Ebaide Joy Is an Afro beat singer and biker, who hailed from Edo state, Ubiaja in Esan East local government of the state.

Ebaide who relocated to Kenya few years ago has got lots of attentions online for her creativity and enthusiasm. she lived in Lagos for many years before her relocation to the eastern part of Africa.

In searching for new experiences, Ebaide decided to explore living in a van , an experience she has found to be quite fulfilling .
After months of living out her dream of Van Life and at some point driving a tricycle for about ten weeks , Ebaide decided to fulfill her biker fantasy by embarking on her solo ride from Mombasa Kenya all the way to the mother land, Lagos Nigeria

The journey from Kenya to Lagos will mark the first leg of her many travels as Ebaide intends to pursue more experience that will commence from Nigeria to Morocco. The fast rising singer and biker who embarked on her journey from Mombasa, traveled through Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zambia, Angola , Republic of Congo, Cameroon and Nigeria.
She covered over 11,000 Kms and she was on the road for over 3 month.

During the journey, she encountered many challenges, language, visa restrictions, bad roads, border crossings, wild animals and most significant was her encounter with a black mamba snake that almost jumped into her in Tanzania which trend on social media with over 15millions views on her instagram page.

She arrived Nigeria through Akwa ibom and was accompanied by bikers in different state and also she made her first stop at edo State where she was warmly welcome by Edo state commissioner for Arts and culture where she was welcomed by with fellow biker before she continue her trip to
Lagos same day on Sunday evening and was escorted by bikers to the finals stop ICM ikeja Lagos.

This Kenya to Lagos is her first phase of the adventure as she planned to embark on her second phase of theAdventure from Nigeria to Morocco.

A Nigerian lady, Ebaide Joy, is set to become the first person to ride on a motorbike from Mombasa, Kenya, to Lagos, Nigeria.

Ebaide began the journey on March 10, 2024, and she is expected to arrive in Lagos, Nigeria, by the end of this month.

The trip will take her through African countries such as Kenya and East Africa, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zambia, Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Congo Brazaville, Cameroon, and finally Nigeria.


The Edo State-born music artist, while stating what prompted her move to embark on the journey, noted, “When I was 23 years old, I was involved in a car accident that put me in a wheelchair for several months, and I had to undergo surgery to fix my spinal cord.

“That second chance at life gave me the inspiration to live life to the fullest and to explore the world. I had in the past converted an old van into a camper van to travel; at some point, I spent some months travelling in a tricycle.

“I decided to buy my by motorbike in July last year, I will be using the trans-African highway. Every day is an opportunity to remind myself that limitations only exist in my head. Living with titanium screws and rods and holding my spinal cord in place has never stopped me from experiencing life to the fullest.


“I chose a motorcycle no vehicle makes me feel nearly as alive as my motorcycle does. I will be riding against the wind, knowing that the course of my existence lies in my hands. I hope this motivates more people to kick fear in the face and live their lives on their own terms.”

Ebaide is currently in Tanzania and she is expected to be in Zambia this week.
