@seyewest and others please help me with cheapest ticket to new Orleans,have searched and couldn't get a lesser price. Earlier on I asked if I can get to New York first then get a local flight from there to new Orleans ,as a first time traveller hope that won't raise an eyebrow at new York POE? Please help

I'm going for conference next month at Louisiana new Orleans precisely but couldn't get a cheap tickek I saw 756k, so I was told to go through new York airport first which is like 390k then get a connecting flight from new york to new Orleans.please advice is it OK to go through that route ?
