It will be quite difficult.

Only a governor can do that.

And One of the governors did that but they didn't allowed him to get re elected as governor and he was killed

Can you share the name of this governor? I guess this happened during the military era.

the
Alpha jet sent a signal that it had been hit and the two pilots’
families met air force officers in the days that followed and were
told it had crashed.
The jet came down in the heart of rebel-held territory, making
search and rescue impossible, he added.
In the video, Shekau is seen on the back of a pick-up truck firing
a powerful anti-aircraft gun and boasting about other aircraft
Boko Haram has shot down.
Group identifies pilot, tells his story
Meanwhile, a group identified as the Nigerian Army Support
Group, yesterday, declared the death of the air force pilot who it
named as Wing Commander Chimda Hedima.
In a post on Facebook, the support group described the pilot as “a
true Nigerian hero”, noting, “It is with deep regret that we
announce the death of a true Nigerian hero, Wing Commander
Chimda Hedima (1975-2014)”.
Continuing, the group said, “This is his story. Read it, share it.
This man was a hero, of the highest order.
“On 11/09/14, a company of NA soldiers attempted to overrun a
BH position in Borno. Due to the low altitude, the plane suffered
significant damage from the terrorists’ gunfire. Wing Commander
Hedima and his partner realised that they were going to crash.
“They, instead of hurriedly parachuting to safety within Nigerian
controlled territory, chose to embark on a mission to destroy as
many terrorists and their weapons as possible”.
“They parachuted out at the last minute but not before ensuring
their plane slammed into a column of terrorists; 63 Boko Haram
members were killed as a result of their bravery

OP, what makes you think you’re right? Funny how the average Nigerian believes his line of thought is the most correct.

Check the calculations...the figures for each would never go down as discharges are still left in the total. The reason For this is that NCDC’s report is based on total (active + dead + recovered) cases so the numbers for each state would remain the same if the state as not gotten any new cases.

What are the pros and cons of doing this?

All I see are Rice mills everywhere. Where are the farms that would provide for these mills to function?

The farms are there...maybe not getting as much attention. Most of these rice mills are off takers so they buy directly from small to mid scale farmers - process and then sell in their own brand name. Some of the big guys like Chi, Cosharis run this model even though they may have their own farms where they produce and then process at their mills.

Rightly said. I’m yet to see a sound counter argument otherwise.

Bross if I should tell you the number of appointment letter that have been issued in the last two months you will be marveled, a federal college of education issued out 400 appointment letter in two weeks backdated the appointment to years back and this are ghost workers that some staff have been collecting their salaries in the same way federal university wukari have issued out over 1000 appointment in one month. If I should start mentioning higher institution here Nigerian will be ashamed of our country

My advice to Nigerian govt is that they should not back down on threat by ASUU not to join ippis

Their is something ASUU is protecting which is ghost workers

Imagine the level of corruption. The next step after enrolling these lecturers is to do a forensic audit. Ghost workers won’t work cause of NIN / BVN - it has to be tied to an actual person. Then they can always verify the qualifications against the job posting.

Education / Re: IPPIS: Ten Reasons Why Lecturers Did Not Register On The IPPIS Platform by Iolo(m): 6:09pm On Dec 22, 2019
FIRS and CBN are revenue generating bodies and they pay salaries from revenues they generate. Hence they may be exempted from IPPIS since the government doesn’t pay their staff from its coffers directly.

The Nigerian Army and Police have all joined the IPPIS scheme and one thing everyone will agree with is that it has helped to curb the era of ghost workers.

ASUU unfortunately is afraid that it’s arbitrary deductions from lecturer dues will negatively affect its ability to raise funds. Till date I am yet to see any lecturer or non-teaching staff who outside of ASUU complain against IPPIS.

It brings about a new level of transparency our universities simply aren’t accustomed to.

Many of the issues raised above like accommodations for lecturers above 70 years are system configured features that can be changed for university staff.

Not to mention that until our universities are able to pay salaries from their own IGR the claim of independence from government remains mute.

I think they should also use NIN alongside BVN next time which will help in creating a database for Nigerians.

Both are already connected together. You will find that when registering for your NIN having a BVN makes the process faster because NIMC has gone ahead to create NIN for everyone with a BVN already.

It's not a good development. We cant close our borders and task neighboring countries to fight smuggling. Our problem is institutional. There is corrupt in our customs, these officials are enabling the smuggling and making huge money from it. Fix the organization and you've fixed the problem. Rice is not the only commodity affected, every business must not suffer because of only rice.

This is what we get when we allow illiterates run the economy.

Let me try to show you a different perspective in addition to what you’ve said which is also mostly correct.

A country such as Benin is actually working to directly sabotage our economy. They are currently one of the top 10 importers of rice in the world. And this was by design through active steps taken by their government to promote importers into Nigeria through their ports. At the time the Nigerian goverment was raising imports on rice to 35%, they were decreasing theirs to 5% and promoting incentives.

Besides fixing the corrupt customs, the Nigerian government must show its strong hand in being able to deal with economic saboteurs around it and this is what they are trying to do.

Courts (The Judiciary) don't compel the NASS (Legislators) to amend the Constitution, they only interpret the law....!!!

The term in the constitution has no ambiguity and is not a birthright of any individual.
If two term is against your fundamental right then, you are free to create your own country...!!! Planet MARS may be suitable...!!!

They (Legislators) carry out such amendments based on their legislative duties raise among themselves which then is subject to majority vote

Suit should rightly be dismissed and the litigant fined heavily for wasting the courts time. Why didn’t he channel this by sponsoring a bill in parliament? Too many educated illiterates in this country.

Let's be sincere, is this not the work of the police? How much do they get medical reports for? 5k, right? You mean a whole EFFC will leave their office, fuel their trucks or buses and drive with siren to arrest such doctors when there are police stations everywhere? This is 2019 now not 1819.

Haba.

The thing is fake medical reports are being used to circumvent corruption cases. People use these reports to stall their trials, get endless adjournments and previously travel aboard on “so called medical treatment trips” to never return.

So it is within the purview of the EFCC to track and stop this so they can get more cases out of the judiciary in good time.

If only Nigeria was truly a nation, innoson and similar entrepreneurs will get govt max support.

In the US, Govt bailed Genera Motors when it went bankrupt. In this clime, people are working to ensure such businesses dont succeed in the long term cos its not owned by their tribe.

There is no hope for Nigeria in sight.

Well...if we are being realistic. Innoson presently has a lot more demand from government and other buyers than it can cater for. They need to scale up very quickly.

Politics / Re: IMF Backs Nigeria On Border Closure by Iolo(m): 7:44pm On Oct 19, 2019
I see five major benefits to the border closure:

1. Supporting the local industries: Making local rice more attractive to us Nigerians. People will buy what they see and if it takes banning imported rice for more Nigerians to consume local rice then this works for the government.

2. Saving Money spent subsidizing fuel smuggled to Benin: The government has realized that about 10% of our daily consumption as a country is being smuggled to Benin. The issue this brings is the country is effectively paying for another countries consumption. Easy solution to this is to remove fuel subsidy but doing that affects Nigerians adversely. Closing down the borders makes it all the more difficult to continue to smuggle fuel across. I don’t recall the numbers now but NNPC has recently reduced a drop in our daily consumption as a country which proves this theory correct.

3. Increase income from duties by encouraging importers to come through Lagos ports rather than cotonou:

the goal here is simply revenue generation. The customs has proven this correct as well as their revenues have gone up in recent weeks. The government only needs to fix the port roads and drive more efficiency at the ports otherwise this will be a temporary fix once the borders are reopened.

4. Foreign policy benefits (I.e. resolving issues of economic sabotage) : this will give us more bargaining chips as the FG looks to resolve issues of economic sabotage coming from Benin republic. The Benin government makes a lot of money by sabotaging our policies. Case in point is a statistic that shows Benin as the third largest importer of rice in the world whereas we all know where much of that rice ends up.
Importers who bring in this rice pay duties to the Benin government and then smuggle it into Nigeria.

5. Foreign policy benefits (I.e. resolving issues of non-cooperation was towards dealing with boko haram: a lot of our neighbors have taken a non commital attitude towards fighting boko haram head on. Some of our neighboring Countries such as Niger and Chad are entirely landlocked and rely on us (In addition to Benin and Cameroon to a smaller extent) for most of their imports. closing the land borders affects their economies adversely which idealistically makes them more willing to do our bidding.

I hope this helps someone here better understand the issues being discussed.

Disclaimer: I don’t work for the government or the APC.

It isn’t illegal to this then.

I guess they pry on lack of awareness that people can do these themselves online.

TGM2015:

Most of those that purchase form are those who have not take the option of online registration. The ladies was charging you for her service of helping you to visit the NIMC website, download and print hard copy for easy of pick up. You are paying for a service.

If you do not want to pay to get your NIN, visit their website, pre-enrolled yourself and print out the filled pre-enrollment form OR download and print the Pre-enrolment form yourself, fill it and bring it to their center. By the time you calculate the cost and the stress, you will realise why the lady sold the form to you for N100.

For more information about Pre-enrolment and free enrolment form, you can visit https://www.nimc.gov.ng/preenrolment-online/
