No it doesn't, qualification is what they are assessing, they are not bothered about whether your separate studies are linked, its only in school matters that may come up and even at that, i doubt it cuz, school will reckon only with the qualification you are using to apply to a programme with them

You don't get my point. One way or the other, length of study comes into play. Two different degrees of collective 6-7 years of study duration stand a good change of being assessed as 2 or more degrees. In another perspective, OND (2years duration and HND (another 2 years duration) get assessed as 2 more degrees, but for some bizarre reasons, OND (2 years) and BSc (another 4-5 years) get assessed as one degree. It doesn't add up.

I took the liberty to check on CIC criteria for 2 or more degrees (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/eca-conversion.asp), it stated that one must be for a program of three or more years (which BSc fits the profile) PLUS any of the qualification below

Post-Bachelor's Certificate
Post-undergraduate certificateFootnote 1
Post-Bachelor's Diploma
Post-undergraduate diplomaFootnote 1
Graduate Certificate
Graduate Certificate with a focus in [area of concentration]Footnote 1
Postgraduate certificate
Postgraduate Diploma
Graduate Diploma with a focus in [area of concentration]Footnote 1
Graduate diplomaFootnote 1
two-year Postgraduate Diploma, specializing in [name of discipline]
two-year Bachelor’s after degree with a focus in [area of concentration]Footnote 1
one-year Postgraduate Certificate in [name of discipline]
one-year of graduate study with a focus in [area of concentration]Footnote 1
Study Toward a Master's Degree

I reckon an OND qualifies as a graduate diploma (not sure though); if yes, that implies that the OP may be able to use it claim more points ESPECIALLY if the total years of study (BSc+OND) is like 6-7 years; i.e if he did 2 years in Poly and 4-5 years at the UNI.

The Diploma won't fetch you an extra mark because it was done before the Bsc, cases where it has fetched people extra marks are when it was done after first degree. Your masters would have been the best but you are yet to finish let alone get your result and transcripts so, you can only evaluate your Bsc for now. When you finish your masters and have gotten result and transcripts ready, you can notify wes to add it to existing Bsc credentials with them(they may not charge you extra).

Does it make any difference if they are exclusive of eachother? E.g OND in accounting and BSc in Economics. Or when your ond was not used towards your BSc admission.

Thank you Irondome. Based on your explanation and the search i have conducted, Senior government official and Chemical Technologist NOCs are out.

I think NOC 4161 is more in line with my job responsibilities than 5121.

Thank you once again.

4161 is it then. CIC prioritizes job description over job title.

Hello Zandora,
Please I had an OND before I can went for my BSC and am almost through with my MBA, can I evaluate the OND separately? if yes I cant see the space to include it in the evaluation link

regards

Yes, you can. Your OND and BSc may be assessed as being equivalent to 2 or more Canadian degrees, which fetches more points than just bachelor.

On the link, I reckon there should be a space for DIPLOMA (OND is a diploma degree); am not sure though, others who have assessed their OND degree may have a more definite opinion.

Good day all.
I worked as a Senior Officer (Standardization and Quality Assurance specialist) with a Federal Government Agency for 3 years. Now within the office, i specialized on Chemical Technology Companies. I don't necessarily , even though i did where necessary, carry out chemical tests. However, i was involved in Standards Writing and implementation, enforcement activities and inspection and auditing of companies' processes, environment, health and products quality.

My question is, what NOC do i classify the above job responsibilities? A senior government official, Chemical Technologist, Standards Writer or a Researcher? Kindly advise.

Do get confused with the title/position of your job, but rather focus on job descriptions. Your job description must match your selected NOC by over 75%. In view of this, I would advise you chose an NOC that closely match your job description; i.e if these tasks (Writing and implementation, enforcement activities and inspection and auditing of companies' processes, environment, health and products quality.) closely match the NOC for Senior Officer (Standardization and Quality Assurance specialist) as specified by CIC; then you select that NOC.

Hi @Zandora and @Jesustheway,

I got a couple of questions concerning the express entry.

Background: 3.3yrs in manufacturing as a process engineer and production manager in Procter & Gamble. IELTS - 8,7.5,7.5,7 (RWSL),skill type NOC 0

1) Do u know about any province with more manufacturing job opportunities?
2) Is it possible to get a job offer to boost the application process?
3) Is it advisable to lower ur profile from NOC 0 to B since my work experience is less than 4yrs in the manufacturing?

Thanks in advance.

1) Do u know about any province with more manufacturing job opportunities? Ask google sir
2) Is it possible to get a job offer to boost the application process? Not impossible, but extremely unlikely for an outband applicant.
3) Is it advisable to lower ur profile from NOC 0 to B since my work experience is less than 4yrs in the manufacturing? I reckon the maximum number of years you can claim point for in respect of foreign experience is 3 years. Anything beyond that is of no value; suffice to state that your 3.3 years is adequate.

Just a little advice, your IELTS score is cool, however, your CRS point would increase significantly if you can re-attempt the exam. You need a 8,7,7,7 (LWRS) to get an extra 50 points under transferable skill.

Well done @ Jesustheway, Zandora.
Pls we are applying, my husband as d principal applicant. Our Masters transcripts are IELTS are ready. But the immigration agent is insisting we get B.SC transcripts. This has taken more than one month. Can we go ahead and enter the pool ourselves?

I am 3 months pregnant, if after 6 months we are successful God willing, when is it advisable to travel with the new baby?

What additional preparation do we need for the new baby?
Thank you.

The question is? Have you guys done your credential evaluation with WES? If no, you might want to start from there. If affirmative, then you can go ahead to create your EE profile (i.e enter into the pool). You do NOT need a transcript to enter the pool; in fact, you do not an ECA to enter the pool, however, you would not be awarded the much needed points for your degree.

From your point above, I can infer you may not have done your ECA, I would suggest you assess just your Masters (especially if it's a foreign master); that way, you do not have to wait for your BSc. CIC awards points based on highest qualification, as such, you would be getting all the points possible for your degrees.

Congrat on the baby you have on the way, I don't think that would be a problem; one step at a time.

For the records, over 50% of your 1.1trillion in 2014 came from oil related tax while the same oil related revenue accounted for just 30% of the 980billion in 2015. So common sense tells us that the bulk of the dip came from the lull in the oil sector.

Spot on.

Thanks bro.

Also, can you confirm the "document by document" WES evaluation is good to go in this case since its for Immigration and not study purpose.

I asked because that should cost 150 canadian dollars (which is equivalent to less than 30k naira), but I read earlier in the thread that some pay as much as 50k naira for the evaluation so I'm at a loss as to why. Im I missing something?

Did mine some 15 months ago and I paid $180 (not so sure though). May be others who did theirs recently can help out here.

Hi Zandora,

Quite appreciate your insightful inputs to the numerous queries.

However, need clarification on the bolded from your response above. I have a BSc from Nigeria (5 yrs) and an MSc from UK (1 yr). Obviously, the UK MSc is the highest degree, which I have checked to be an equivalent of Canadian Masters.

Am I correct by saying, your advice is just to evaluate (using WES) only the Masters degree and not necessarily the BSc from Naija uni in my case?

Would evaluating both degrees not enhance my points and enable me stand a better chance?

Lastly, on average from those who have done this WES evaluation, how long does the process take for Universities in Nigeria and for UK Uni's?

What really matters to CIC is your highest degree, as that determine how they would appropriate points to you. Going for the assessment of both degrees would only increase your ECA turn around time as WES is likely to access your UK masters faster than your Nigerian BSc.

Your MBA/MSc fetches you a higher point than the 2 or more degree category; so your best bet is to access just your UK Masters

Thanks to you all! Application submitted! Total CRS score 456, I see the next draw coming down to 450 or below......... @Zandora, JesusDway and other bosses! What do I do now? any link for document list? so I can start getting ready. Thank you

Personal opinion, I don't think the next draw would drop to 450, as the wait period is over 2 weeks already. However, 456 could be a possibility, but still unlikely.

On the document checklist, you would be given a personalized list after filling in the form (post ITA). Generically, some of the documents include
1. Your e-medical form which you would be given after completing you medical exam. I would advice you schedule an appointment with one of the panel doctors after receiving your ITA.
2. ALL your academic certificates and transcripts. You can also merge your WES ECA and IELTS form to these certificates, just to be on the safe side.
3. All Reference letters of the company that you have claimed points for. The letter should detail your duties (which should match your NOC), your salary, duration, number of hours; must be on company letter head and duly signed.
4. Data page of your travel documents.
5. Your POF document, which should detail your account details (date opened, six months balance, account number, etc). You may also want to include your regular six months financial statement.
6. LOE as to any of the statutory questions you might have answered Yes to (e.g, previous visa refusal, Medical issues, etc)

7. Others I might have missed.

The sum I av in my bank account is not significant to the POF I am expected to have for family of 5. Can I present à letter from the cooperative as POF ? Can I also present my treasury bill certificate as POF ? Can I present letter from the assurance coy as POF ?
Second question is on PCC- I know it has been mentioned in thé past but I cannt remember the page for référence, please aw much will it cost me and am I to go with just my passport photo and biodata page of my int'l passport ? Also, is the validity one year ?
Thanks in anticipation

Do you have an ITA yet? If otherwise, you might want to delay your PCC until you receive one as PCCs have validity date. Furthermore, there is no point in rushing as it's what you can get in less than a week. It's inscribed validity is usually 3 months, however, I think CIC consider it valid for 1 year, may request for a new one if it's older than 3 months.

On your proof of funds, I believe you can use your insurance contribution and Tbills as long as they are not encumbered and you can provide financial documents to back up the funds for a period of 6 months. Can you access/draw from your contributions (cooperative and Insurance) at any point in time? What's the tenure of your tbills?

I do get your point, but like I told you earlier "abnormal" is the new "normal" here on Nigeria.. So screw it, I support the other guys choice of words, eventhough he went too far. Not that they were right but that's the norm here.

Nigerian banks hide a lot. For instance, You think the list of debtors published was correct? U know what it took to maneuver that? U think only First bank, UBA and Skye have hidden MDA funds? They were unlucky coz they got caught. The entire industry is messed up. The TSA will cause hardship for the low level bank staff and the economy at large. The 'ogas at the top' have stolen enough and they won't even get touched.

Your next point will be should we do nothing because of the inherent fraud? Actually, clean up of the sector should preceded funds mop off as the clean up will unveil several abnormally that will even increase funds to be mopped.

Honestly, give it up already. Let me point some things out to you.

1. Irrespective of when and how TSA is implemented; banks are bound to struggle a little bit as most of them rely substantially of these free funds. So why postpone the evil days while the FG continue to struggle financially when it has (unknown) trillions of Naira lying in various bank account. That amounts to LOSE & LOSE situation.
2. Cleaning up the mess in CBN is not an snap of finger act, but a lengthy and continuous process that would take time; as such, putting off a routine regulatory oversight function for such a continuous process sounds absurd and illogical.
3. You mentioned other defaulters; if you know of any, you can do the whole nation the honor of listing their names.

And for the records, I totally agree with your opinion that these funds uncovered are not exhaustive, but the few unlucky ones. We do not even know if there are still some funds lying in ALL the banks, which is where heavy fines come in. In fact, if I were the CBN Governor, I would subsequently order a fresh round of investigation and you won't be surprised to see them owning up to other uncovered MDA funds.

So we should just allow organizations to flout laid down rules and regulations?
Do you understand that this act of undeclaring funds is fraud in its true sense?
What has that got to do with diversifying the economy?
So because they will increase arbitrarily COT (which is not possible as charges are regulated), they should be allowed to fraudulently hide funds?
Do you see the illogical premise of your argument?

Imagine such a warped line of reasoning. That goes a long way to show the kind of person the guy is; stealing is good as long as a fraction of the money is used to feed the needy. Are Skye bank, UBA and FirstBank the only banks with MDA accounts? Why did others obey while these ones decided to flout a presidential directive. Arrant nonsense.

Your MBA may fetch you more points if WES assessed it as equivalent to Canadian masters (which is likely). Was I talking to you bro?

Nevertheless, let's talk about your points.
Should we find a saint before we start adhering to simple rules? NO but let's make it a level playing ground, let's punish all offenders. Are we doing that? NO. There are some sacred cows.. (Won't share details)

The CBN has bruised several of her own orders, they've messed the sector up several times and are even responsible for several decline in the economy. Who'll punish them?? What do you know of the central bank activities, go review access and intercontinental brawl, oceanic sales, Amcon and even NIBBS activities, or check out the BVN messed up DB where ur name and face on the DB don't correlate, lest I forget the Heidal project. Dude, you don't know jack abt the CBN so shut up.

Fine doesn't really solve problem, it create greater and smarter thieves. Find the root cause of a problem and fix it before fining. Close the loopholes.

All these do not negate Mbulela's points. CBN has an oversight function to enforce its regulation, which they have promptly done here; on this matter, I reckon they deserve a pat on the back and not a stick. It's rather preposterous that you are clamoring for the latter.

On who controls the regulators, I guess it's within the purview of the national assembly; you may play your part in our nascent democracy by petitioning the NASS on the issues you raised here.

Olodo rogbodo. You sabi how banking dey work?

Usually, fines should be very hefty, so as to serve as deterrent to defaulters. Look at it this way, how do we know for sure that there are no other shrouded accounts that CBN have not been able to uncover. CBN isn't an all-seeing God, as such, fines should be heavy such that corporate bodies would never ever try risking their going-concern for insignificant gains through cutting corners.

Those fines will still go to private pockets.

Not when you make these regulatory bodies (NCC, CBN, NAFDAC, EFCC, CUSTOMS, NDLEA, etc) profit centres where they are expected to balance their books at year end and remit a certain percentage of their profit as revenue. Even, if they are not seen as profit centres, proceeds from these fines would make them self-sufficient and less dependent on the FG's purse.

Holistically, punitive and control measures are not primarily seen as avenue to generate funds, but as a tool to enforce statutory regulations and maintain sanity in rather chaotic landscape as Nigeria. Suffice to state that, in the least, these fines would serve as a loud signal to all corporate organizations (both local and international) that it's time to sit up.

Do I really need an agent? Personal decision, however, it's what you can do all by yourself.
I had 69 in the eligibility test but I am yet to write the Ielts.please should I select the Academics or general. GENERAL and aim for a CLB score of 9 (IELTS 8,7,7,7, LRWS) and above
I am married with a child my husband and I both have B.sc and over 4 years work experience each do you think if successful, we will get something over there. No one knows, however, the chances are higher with both of you guys over there. I would also advice that both of you should attempt the IELTS tests and ECA assessment for additional points as couples.
How long does d whole process last from start to finish.we intend to write the test in December. Approx. 6 months after final application submission; however, the time taken before you receive an ITA (invitation to apply ) greatly depends on your CRS score. The higher your score, the earlier you get invited to lodge your visa application.
Do we need to choose any particular province. It depends, if your CRS score is above 450, you may not go through the province route; i.e, you may just chose to wait till you get invited. However, if your CRS score is lower than 450, you would have to scout for provincial nominations and apply for a particular province of your choice.
Which province is the most affordable and has job opportunity. I don't know.
Do we need d pnp thing. Answered above already
How much did the whole process cost you i have heard all sort from this agents and I am confused. Total cost for the family, including visa application fee, medical, PCC, ECA assessment, IELTS, Courier services should be less than $5000 (canadian dollars). However, you are required to have a certain proof of fund over a period of six months (less than $17000 for a family of 3, not sure of the exact amount)
Thanks for the response. You are welcome

Please how can I pay as my deadline is fast approaching.

What type of mastercard are u using? Dollar or naira mastercard? I don't think the naira mastercard would have any of such limit. I would advise you fund your saving account and try making the payment with your regular naira mastercard/atm card.

Hello,

Please i'd like to be educated on how the proof of funds work. I have a family of 4.

Am I suppose to have this fund in my account as at the time of entry into the pool?

Can I enter into the pool, then gather the funds together?

At what point am I going to be required to show proof of funds?

and what if the fund is a gift from....say my mum. is that going to be acceptable?

Thanks ya'll

Six months prior to your substantive visa application (post ITA). Yes, you can enter the pool while you gather your POF, but just that you would need to indicate the amount of money you intend to come in with, at the point of creating your profile on express entry.

YES, gift from your mum is allowed, however, such funds require some supporting documents like a detailed letter of explanation, financial document showing the transfer from your mum to your account, your mum's financial standing to prove that she can afford to give out the money without affecting her cash flow, affidavit to prove that the money is indeed a gift, etc.

What ever you do, the money should sit in your account for 6 months prior to your actual application submission; whether it's wise to go into the pool now depends on how long you would be in the pool before you get an ITA. If your score is in the north of 450, it's probably not a wise move as you might be drawn anytime soon. If your score is lower than 450 and you want to take advantage of province sponsorship, then, it's a brilliant idea.

Double checks reveals that the Indians have also stubbornly refused to upload his speech on the conference Web portal

India is Nigeria second biggest investor after China and the worst affected by Buhari's forex restrictions as most of thier companies can hardly source raw materials especially those in the pharmaceutical sector...

Can Nigeria survive Buharinomics?

We asked for it........‎

One question? What happened to Mr Kenyatta beyond the red carpet? Did he walk to the executive/presidential lounge or carried shoulder high like a monarch king?

I actively monitor the just concluded India-Africa Summit. I am afraid Nigeria's presence in Africa is diminishing.
The respect accord to former President Goodluck Jonathan by his African peer is diminishing.
Apart from conveying our president in a trolley as against red carpet reception given to Kenya's President.
The speech of Nigeria's representative during the Ministerial conference was not included on the Summit official website until 24 hours later.
Even the speech is full of typographic errors and grammatic blunders.
Now how do you justify that our President's speech was not included in the list of speeches made at the conference when speeches of the likes of Kenya, Zambia, Burundi, Liberia and several Africa's president have been uploaded more than 48 hours ago?

Anyone with the smallest iota of common sense would discern your loads of bullshit. What sort fathom respect was accorded to GEJ if Paul Kigame of Rwanda could come out opening to castigate him on his disposition to boko-haram? What trolley? You meant an indoor carriage used within a fairly big airport. I am sure if you travel regularly, this would not be new to you. Your topic read " India refused to" but the content of your hogwash read " the speech was uploaded 24hrs later". Which version do we go with? Are you confused or lying?

I know you guys are desperate to play the opposition, but common, do it intelligently and not all these loads of crap.

Well, fingers crossed. I was one of those that got PR during the years the conservatives were trying hard to clear the backlogs created by the liberals. When the conservatives took over the government, backlog was already 10 years+ for skilled workers. Those that had families in Canada usually applied through pnp and were always given priority(fast processing of less than 2 years). The conservatives did a good job by bringing it down to around 6 months.

I hope the liberals have changed their ways though and improve on the immigration policies of the conservatives not revamping it entirely.. Let's hope for the best.

No doubt, the Conservatives did an excellent job, however, I don't think the Liberals would struggle with maintaining the system that has been built ans tested working.

On a personal note, I also prefer the conservatives as they appear more realistic as against the idealistic Liberals. I just hope they do not further mess up the Canadian Economy.
