Politics / No More Court Challenges But Service To The People, Baba Tells President Tinubu by ishaqwaaaqil(m): 10:43am On Nov 11, 2023
The Acting Director General of National commission for the co-ordination and control of the proliferation of small arms, ammunitions and light weapons (NATCOM) Dr. Baba Mohammed has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his victory at the Supreme Court.

In a statement issued in Abuja , Dr. Baba said the verdict will allow the President to concentrate on governance in the interest of Nigerians.

The Director General also described the election litigation as a strength for Nigeria’s democracy, urging litigants to cooperate with Tinubu in moving the country forward.

“I congratulate our indefatigable president on his victory at the Supreme Court. Election litigation is a strength of our growing democracy. I’ve strong hopes in our democracy,” the statement read.

Baba reiterated that President Tinubu as Governor of Lagos State years back performed exceptionally well and set to also replicate the success story in the country.

As the Chairman of the ECOWAS heads of state and government, the statement emphasized that Mr president is better positioned to assent to the NATCOM bill passed by the 9th National Assembly.

In conformity with what is obtained in other sister west African countries and in line with ECOWAS protocol and to which Nigeria is signatory to, President Tinubu’s timely consideration will be a quantum leap in the administration’s desire to nip insecurity, unemployment, poverty, economic and other challenges bedeviling the country in the bud.

While the proponent of the NATCOM bill Dr. Baba Mohammed remains the best man in running the affairs of the commission, confirming him as substantial head of NATCOM will be an all round win-win situation for both government and the Nigerian people.

Dr. Baba Mohammed possesses high administrative and managerial competencies.

It will be recalled that Dr. Baba Mohammed fcna, has provided leadership in the capacity of non executive Director representing federal government in the then Nitel, Mtel, Delta steel company, Aladja, Aluminium Smelter company, Ikot Abasi, Nicon Insurance, Nigeria Reinsurance , then Afribank Nigeria plc, the then Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Nigerian security Printing and Minting, Nigerian Aviation Handling company, Transcorp Hotels plc Abuja.

Mohammed also served as member/secretary, African privatisation network, member, Nigeria/South Africa bilateral commission, board member of Nigerdock Nigeria plc to mention but a few.

Dr. Baba Mohammed, a Fellow, Certified National Accountant (fcna), also among other institutions attended PSLC 20, NIPSS, Kuru Jos and also obtained a certificate in Financial Management from Stafford Graduate school of Business, USA.

Politics / Kogi West Elders Adopt Abejide As Consensus Candidate Ahead Of Nov 11 Election by ishaqwaaaqil(m): 10:28am On Oct 17, 2023
Not unmindful of Senator Smart Adeyemi’s suit at the Supreme Court .

The Kogi West Elders Forum (KWEF) has adopted Mr Leke Abejide of African Democratic Party (ADC) as their consensus candidate for the Nov. 11, Kogi Governorship Election.

The forum made this position known in a communiqué of the endorsement signed its Chairman, Maj.-Gen. David Jemibewon, rtd. and read by the Secretary, Dr Tunde Arosanyin, on Monday in Abuja.

The forum however, said it was not unaware of the pending case at the Supreme Court instituted by one of their sons, Sen. Smart Adeyemi of the All Progressive Congress (APC) against the party’s primaries.

They said the forum could revisit the endorsement should the case favours Adeyemi to be able to carry everyone along.

Reading the communique, Arosanyin said it had become necessary to elucidate the approach of KWEF and how the forum had interceded to endorse a consensus candidate for the West Senatorial District in the forthcoming governorship election.

He said the forum had hitherto, agitated for power to rotate to the west since 2019, adding that the agitation was considered legitimate, reasonable, fair and in the interest of peace, equity, and justice in the state.

This, according to him, was because the district had been ‘shortchanged’ from the power-sharing arrangement to occupy the exalted office of the Executive Governor of the state since its creation in 1991.

The secretary said the elders had worked with other groups like the Okun Development Association (ODA) and Okun Think Thank (OTT) with similar objectives and reinvigorated the mechanism for the demand immediately after INEC released the timetable for the election in early 2023.

Nairaland / General / ENDSARS: Is This It For Nigeria? by ishaqwaaaqil(m): 8:51am On Oct 27, 2020

#EndSars: The turn of events has highlighted both beautiful and some painful realities about Nigeria.

The EndSARS movement which represents the largest social movements against police brutality, which started with a single demand, that government disbands the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) and later included calls for holistic police reform in Nigeria.

The movement which started in 2017 as a Twitter campaign #ENDSARS but disappeared and made comeback this October of 2020 has served as a rallying point for many aggrieved Nigerians, the decentralized nature of the movement made it even more appealing for young people from different backgrounds.

Although it started in the Southern part of the country, the movement quickly spread to the northern parts of the country, where police brutality is not as rampant but thousands took to the streets to stand in solidarity with the victims, with protests holding in Kano, Zaria, Kaduna, and Jos plateau and spilling internationally, with massive demonstrations and vigils in London, other parts of Europe and the USA.

Trending worldwide for over a week and accumulating over 28 million tweets made it a truly global movement, this goes to show the level of solidarity the movement has enjoyed on one hand and the level of seriousness that is the case of police brutality is in Nigeria and across the globe.

The unanimous calls to #ENDSARS shook not just Lagos but the Asorock villa, which lead to the disbanding of the rogue police unit quicker than anticipated, with a statement from the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, and backing from the presidency.

One would assume that victory has been achieved and that the protesters will go off the streets, but the reverse was the case, protests continued to grow by the day, and donations to sustain the movement started coming in both internationally and within the country, free foods, internet and charging stations were setup for protesters to use, occupying and blocking the Lekki tollgate.

Refusing to end the protests was due to a lack of trust, many argued that it was not the first time the government said it has disbanded SARS, it has verbally ended SARS for 3 consecutive years, the protesters vowed to continue the protests and blockade until the 5of5 demands presented to the government are fulfilled.

The decision to continue protesting and occupying strategic public spaces raised eyebrows, with the government insisting that the protesters ought to vacate public spaces and the leaders of the movement saying otherwise.

The decision to keep protesters in the street was a defining moment for the movement, the protests continued to get a lot of media attention globally and have made enemies within the country, which led to unknown elements hiring hoodlums to attack protesters in Lagos, Abuja, and Kano and some hoodlums to take advantage of the security and leadership vacuum to cause chaos and carnage in many parts of Lagos which included he killing and lynching of police officers and the burning of public and private property.

The Lagos state government in response to the killings and chaos imposed a 24-hour curfew in Lagos, in an attempt to restore law and order in the state.

The movement descended into chaos when video footage and Instagram live streams“allegedly” showed armed men in Nigerian army uniforms shooting at unarmed protesters standing at the Lekki bridge, the video of the shootings, fake news, and comments made by many social influencers invited more chaos into the mix which pushed the conversations around the protests into a full-blown social media tribal wars, between Nigeria’s 3 main tribes Hausa Igbo and Yoruba.

The conversations around the protests have highlighted the ubiquity of tribalism and other forms of bigotry across the country, we have seen how many supposed leaders made comments that are directly calling for violence and hate on people based on tribe or religion, for not responding to the call to join in on the wanton destruction of lives and public property, these people have since lost a lot of respect and public credibility.

While the movement has achieved a lot of successes, with the government disbanding SARS hopefully for good this time, the establishment of independent judicial panels of inquiry in more than a dozen states, the commitment to compensate victims of police brutality, and a promise of reforming the police, there is a lot more to be done and this time not by the government but by ordinary citizens and the de facto leaders of the movement on Nigeria’s cyberspace of healing the divide caused by the movement through education and enlightenment.

Many of the influencers have contributed to the carnage caused either directly by making reckless comments about people of different opinions or those from a different region, religion, or indirectly through their tone while arguing the need to resist the government.

We must all take responsibility the way we want leaders to, by doing what is needed even when it is not unpopular or risk becoming just like or even worse than the leaders we sit to criticize everyday.

We have a responsibility, we cannot assume positions of leadership when it suits us but abdicate that responsibility when calling people to do the right thing is unpopular.

Nairaland / General / Ehigie In An Interview With Others On The Animation Industry In Nigeria by ishaqwaaaqil(m): 8:23am On Mar 12, 2020

On a TeaTime program on Pulse TV, the host had a very interesting, masterminding and brainstorming discussion on the Animation Industry in Nigeria with special guests; Ambassador Ehigie Moses Ikeakhe (ECOWAS Youth Ambassador, CEO of BWE Studios, among others), Ferdy Adimefe (a creative entrepreneur and an intellectual buff) and Harry Dunkwu (CEO Scroll Entertainment, Lagos).

The inception of the discussion was highlighted and addressed by Ambassador Ehigie Ikeakhe who started on the note of advising Nigerians to be focused and determined on achieving greatness.

He said, “I believe in consistency and hard work as these are the secrets that keep propelling me to greatness.” He proceeded by saying “Failure is inevitable but the ability to learn from failure and a little adjustment confers victory.” He, however, shared a word of encouragement to the Animation Industry in Nigeria to protrude in their relentless pursuit in conducting and inspiring Nigerians as well as the new West African Creative in pushing boundaries and applying competent creative skills into production.

The second guest speaker on the show, Ferdy Adimefe (A creative entrepreneur) furthered in emphasizing on the ideology of entrepreneurship and ways in relating its skills into production as a vast and generally accepted technique in all professions.

He said, “Entrepreneurship requires a lot of sacrifices, so you must be able to stay and delay gratification; you must be able to think of your company/business and your people before yourself.” He reinstated in another dimension by saying “Entrepreneurship is like a special relationship that you must nurture.”

He concluded by being laudable of the fantastic dots of professionalism and enthusiasm pulled out by Animation Industry in Nigeria and urged them to be ever consistent and determined as these are the prices required in achieving success.

The third guest speaker, Harry Dunkwu, (CEO scroll Entertainment, Lagos) fueled the discussion by talking about the scope, limitations and of course the challenges of his profession. He started by outlining some of the challenges he encountered.

Absence of funding and infrastructure

From getting a studio space, furniture setup, buying of high end graphic computers, graphic tablets, rendering machine, power generating machines, inverters (due to power failure problems), payment of staff and so on. Funding an animation studio is a capital intensive venture, every project burns money from the inception.

Absence of open culture that leads to collaboration

It is important to note that collaboration and openness helped transform the Tech space in Nigeria to what it has become. Embracing a more open way of collaboration that focuses on leveraging on team strengths and not on an individual’s strength is key to finishing projects and maintaining the sanity of the artists involved.

Lack of quality training hubs

The world wide web (WWW) has made it easy to acquire some certain skills in animation, but trained people also need to learn how to work in teams while being trained. Seeing training institutes as hubs will help trainees appreciate every part of the system and understand the technicalities involved with working in a team.”

He said “The animation space in Nigeria is still small with limited professional hands available. The absence of quality studios with the necessary technical know how is a challenge that sees individuals starting studios all over the country in order to meet the needs in the market for animation.”

He however said “My passion for creativity is innate. I studied Electrical/Electronics Engineering at the University of Benin, yet I decided to become a Digital Artist. I founded a start up Animation Studio (Scroll Entertainment) in Lagos, where I work daily providing digital art content solutions for client who want to tell their stories. I also conduct digital art and 2D animation trainings between.” He said that he’s delighted by the progressive status of the Animation Industry in Nigeria.

He said “Art for me is a portal to a world of unlimited possibilities for storytelling. I started creating comics and my business (then scroll comics) was shortlisted in 2014 as a top 50 business in Nigeria by Etisalat.

He thereby advised Nigerians to set a goal in any professions/businesses they desire and work towards in achieving those goals, as age is not a barrier or any form of excuses in tasting greatness.

He however concluded that Animation Industry in Nigeria is just at the verge of unstoppable breakthrough and will eventually be a blockbuster in the nearest future provided the consistency continues.on TeaTime program on Pulse TV, the host had a very interesting, masterminding and brainstorming discussion on the Animation Industry in Nigeria with special guests; Ambassador Ehigie Moses Ikeakhe (ECOWAS Youth Ambassador, CEO of BWE Studios, among others), Ferdy Adimefe (a creative entrepreneur and an intellectual buff) and Harry Dunkwu (CEO Scroll Entertainment, Lagos).

Nairaland / General / Ehigie: Why Nigeria Should Invest More In The Animation Industry by ishaqwaaaqil(m): 1:41pm On Mar 05, 2020

– By Amb. Ehigie Ikeakhe

Boom! the 21st century world no longer deal in the analogue type of communication system, we are much vast in technology, science and art. We have been able to make those three parties to coexist as one. In the kind of world we are today people hardly have time to read long newspapers or make huge purchase of the prints unlike it used to be in the past decades, it is becoming more interesting that people are beginning to lose their interests on watching local news stations like NTA, Channels TV, Sliver bird TV and others. Through our mobile phones and tablets, animation has meddled its way through the minds of users and have locked all these systems (TV News, etc) in another prison of odd, most especially the young folks.

This may look sad but remains the honest-truth.

What way can we then make communication and interaction more easier? Animation.

Animation, in simple terms, is a virtual, visual medium where you can create cartoon characters to represent the owner of a particular message or information, since this is in a video format and can be stored and carried everywhere in our phones, laptops and other audio visual devices, it makes the game increasingly amazing.

Animation is more widespread than a lot of people would realize. Apart from feature films, short films (cartoon), animated GIF’s and other media that are devoted to the display of moving images, animation is also conventional in video games, motion graphics, user interfaces and visual effects.

The concept of animation is generally divided into the 2D and 3D display, although there are others like the Traditional animation (hand-free animation), motion graphics (animated logo).

Animation so far has been widely accepted in all countries which can be refer to as an internationally accepted media or way of passing message from one angle to the other. Recently the Chinese are hitting on the market with animation and they are using the animation system to spread their culture around the world.

In China alone, top universities started to set up animation-related majors only since 2000, and many of their graduates have been attracted by the higher-paid online game industry, most of the recent successful animations including “Monkey King” and “Ne Zha” which were adapted from well-known folk legends. About 50,000 professionals worked in the core development section of China’s 150 billion yuan animation industry, research showed. Today we are here enjoying their creative work of animation and every single day it is generating more income not just to the creators or animators but, for the country itself.

Of the recent, the Nigeria comedy circle are beginning to hugely delve into animation and comics because those are what people find more interesting. Having said that, if Nigerians can actually invest their time, creativity and energy in animation plus the government and entrepreneurs investing in the animation industry, it will lead to a greater development in the country and as well become a means to reduce the pressure of unemployment in Nigeria. Meanwhile there are other reasons why Nigerians should invest in animation.

Communication speed: Taking excerpts from the new cases of CoronaVirus, which mostly include the spread of the virus, the symptoms, the history and other related information on the virus was (and can be) quickly spread through the creation and sharing of animated images and videos in YouTube and other social media platforms which helped in spreading the information faster and this is reason why the WHO (World Health Organization) had to engage animation creators.

Income Generation: In 2018, according to statista.com the global animation market was worth 259 billion U.S. dollars, and is expected to grow to 270 billion by 2020. Animation is big business, with consumers increasingly expecting higher quality graphics in gaming, better visual effects in movies and a more immersive consumption experience wherever they go. Animated features have in most times performed well at the box office, with films such as ‘Shrek’, ‘Finding Nemo’ and ‘Minions’ proving to be hits with children and adults alike across the globe.

The Spread Of Nigeria Culture: Not long ago, animation companies are beginning to surface in Nigeria movie industry like Anthills, Lotusfly, BWE Studios, Komotion studios, etc some of which produce culturally oriented movies. Few animation cultural short films have appeared in the media like the Animated Story of Sango, featured on Channels TV, The Orishas among others, bringing the culture of the Yorubas to life and promoting the piece at the same time using characters that are assumed to be human beings. This way we are actually spreading the Nigeria western culture and through that way a lot kids and adults will learn about these characters and their gifted powers. It will also preserve and promote the culture and heritage of our tribe and it will go a long way of teaching Nigerians their culture and tradition and other countries will also be aware of the vivacious beauty in those cultures and traditions. Just like how the Koreans and Chinese are providing wonderful animation on their culture.

• The use of voiceovers to achieve results
Unlike a traditional film shoot, animation does not require video production professionals to start hunting for a location, apply for permits, or hold day-long casting calls to get a whole casts and crews on board. Having faith on animation also overcomes the challenges of scheduling interviews or other scenarios within an organization’s environment. In order to put the entire story together, all you need to do is to ensure that a number of variables are removed and an animator can focus on timing the visuals with voiceover and background music. And, if there is a script or major content change during the post-production, it’s easier to record the voiceover again rather than scheduling a new interview, not to ignore, this has cut down the itches of transportation, to and fro.

• Delivers Complex Information in a Simplistic Manner
Animation is an advancement and one of the reasons why we seek for advancement is to reduce stress, make works easy, better and attractive and that is what the animation industry is all about. Connecting the dots, the most effective stories connect with their audiences. Without establishing a connection, audiences often have a difficult time understanding exactly how a product or service works, and therefore why they should engage your services. Most potentially-looking successful businesses have collapsed due to this. That’s why one of the biggest benefits of animation is the ability to describe complex ideas in a simple manner. For instance, technology companies often use animation to convey how a complex solution or process works. It’s the perfect solution for breaking things down that are not easily explained or even possible to film. When combined with a tightly written script, animation can really simplify a company’s solution and relate the material to audiences even more quicker.

The BWE Studio is currently working on a 3D animation movie which is supposed to be the first of its kind and the script (storyline) is a mimicry of the Ebola virus that erupted Africa including Nigeria. The ‘epic’ fictional movie is still in its production phase and the team is putting together all creativity to bring out the best out of it. The name is Alobe Virus.

In a nutshell, animation industry is a very good system Nigerians should look forward to and invest in because very soon so many amazing stories will be created through this medium and the world movie industry is likely to be taken over by animations and adventures.

What is then our preparations and contributions.

Nairaland / General / Amb. Ehigie Ikeakhe: Age Is No Barrier When You’ Re Diligent, Hardworking by ishaqwaaaqil(m): 10:55am On Feb 29, 2020

ECOWAS Youth Ambassador, Ikeakhe Moses Ehigie, speaks on his career, how he achieved success at a very young age and established a multi-business agglomerate in Nigeria.

What’s your background like?

I am from Uromi, Esan-East North Local Government Area of Edo State and I was born and brought up in Benin City, the state capital. I was born on March 26, 1994, into a family of nine: six girls and three boys. My primary education was at Hills International School and my secondary school education was at Uniben Demonstration Secondary School, UDSS, both in Benin City.

I did my bachelor’s degree in Florida International University, Miami, Florida, USA. I am currently studying Media Communication and Business in Moscow, Russia. I also have a degree in International Relations.

As a well-established businessman, what’s your experience?

I have been in business for a decade now. I believe in consistency and hard-work. These are some of my secrets and mind you, I have failed so many times. We will win only if we fail and learn from our failures.

I am into media, hospitality and entertainment. I have been able to build an empire that serves as a movement for the African youths. I believe that age shouldn’t be a barrier to set up something for yourself or community. We should be carriers of diligence and encouragement. I started business very early and got inspired by my lovely mom, Mrs. Caroline Ikeakhe.

But generally, I am from a business-minded home where I grew up watching people hustle in every corner of my home. For instance, my parents were owners of a bakery. Now, I can happily say that I am the Chief Executive Officer to Born Winners Empire, BWE. This is a brand that has given hundreds of Nigerian youths jobs and millions of youths a platform including Frost Water, El-Castillo and Caroline’s Kitchen with BWE Studios and BWE TV.

We are currently building the biggest animation studio in Nigeria, where we will bring many untold stories to life and we will give back our culture and history to our kids and younger generation. Lest I forget, we are also working on a full-time 3D animation movie entitled Alobe Virus. Please watch-out for it.

What was the biggest challenge you faced?

Criticism, which I rather see as a motivation. We live in a space where age is a big factor. I get “you are to young to be making money” because I understand our mindset in Nigeria. In line with that, I organised a youth empowerment conference in 2018 entitled “The Future”, where I had some of our stars in every industry that are doing well for themselves and the community to talk to 600 youths. This was a free event for the youths. It was a huge success because the feedback was great.

I started business at a very tender age. I started investing little pennies and flipping it twice and that built my courage that the more I save to do this, I could make more money out of it.

Additionally, it hasn’t been easy for start-up businesses in Nigeria. This is because we are faced with all kinds of challenges; from lack of electricity to unaccounted taxes and others. The truth is that it’s not every business trip you embark on that will flourish in initially. Most business would instead require loads of time to grow, as in the development and productivity of a human being. Nevertheless, one important thing an entrepreneur must be oriented on is that businesses need bounties of encouragement and fuelling.

What has kept you going?

I have so much believe in my goals and vision. I knew my business ideas would lead me to success regardless of the challenges, so I was ready to fail so many times. The fearless spirit in me was really helpful in the hard times and for sure, God has been very supportive. The Nigerian market is big and underrated. Our population alone is a big factor to enhancing business success. We are over 200 million and that is a huge figure for the growth of a business and this is what we are building to engage and utilise the entire populace.

Have you ever felt like quitting?

Nay. I have never for once felt like quitting, because each time I think deeper, I got to realise that I have millions of youths looking up to me, including the generation unborn. So I stayed strong and always I get motivated by the youths I mentor. Then I turn to myself and say, I have to keep the train moving.

You are well travelled. How do Nigerian youths compare to those of other developing nations?

Well, I will say I am really impressed with what I see and hear about Nigerian youths. We are making good waves in every part of the world and we always adapt easily into a new system far different from where we come from. Most of the best doctors are in the Nigerians, as well as the best technicians. I will use this opportunity to give accolades to the young man with name Silas Adekunle, Co-Founder of Reach Robotics. I am sure you know his story. Its time the world recognises Nigeria as a great nation.

Say something about your ECOWAS Youth Ambassadorship?

I was very surprised when I got a leadership award recognition from ECOWAS Youth Council in 2018. That’s after I did my first youth empowerment conference. It is a huge honour for me and I am just getting started to serve the people and my community. I am looking forward to greater things ahead.

Going forward, I will still be here creating opportunities, platforms and serving the people. I have been striving for a global reach-out to keep the flag up and tell the world what we stand for.

What is your philosophy of life?

Life is a race that has a dead end, but while we are running we should carry our competitors along. Whether they fall or get tired, we are edging to the same dead end. Forget who gets there first, simply create a giant impact and love.

What’s your hobby/pastime?

I have a lot of hobbies. I love sport; football especially. I love to read all kind of books, good or bad and I learn from every situation. Travelling is another way to educate myself, so I do that often because I believe that “knowledge is never too much”.

I enjoy dancing and singing even though I don’t know most of the lyrics.

Again, I enjoy driving too and off course cleaning, as one of my best therapy. A lot more, I am a very different person and I am still growing to new things that keeps me positive and happy.

Who’s the lucky woman?

My mom and my future daughter are the lucky women.

Any advice to the weak young ones out there?

Stay strong! I know its hard to stay strong but look out for someone that you can connect with all the time. This same person might be doing better than you in most cases, but that is the thing, that is the strong energy that will always charge you up and follow his/her good steps to greatness. Life is not easy for just you, but everyone. People should only try to live it without sorrows and negativity.

Nairaland / General / Fear: A Dominant Natural Phenomenon – By Isyaku Baba. by ishaqwaaaqil(m): 3:16pm On Feb 01, 2020

My hypothesis: In every domination of fear (dominant fear) there’s a proportion of recessive courage. To be at the lead (or make a leeway) and be successful, you have to solve yourself to override the dominant fear with the recessive courage. -Isyaku Baba.

Human beings are majorly characterized by their level of control, intelligence, and understanding. This makes us a species of high animal, unlike the monkey and others.

It is with this feature that we are able to harness our world and as well contribute largely towards the comfortability and advancement of the lower animal world including the entire ecosystem.
This is again our distinctive variation between the latter.

Although man possesses a unique structure (well situated, arranged and accurate) while animals differ in various species, big, medium and tiny which alone is a factor of disability, disorder, and disagreement between them in fighting for survival and natural selection. Here again, man standstill.

Human Evolution has overtime been a linkage of the apes to man but I in my own definite resolution see it as untrue.
Man is a creature with high quality and value, so one cannot in any instance describe a man as a fine product of ancient and ancestral Apes, one would rather say that Apes are a high class of monkeys while man remains itself in its own nature. As Dinosaurs and Dragons went into extinction, so are Apes. Like Selam, Lucy could also be another separate fossil species of Ape who didn’t make their stand to the feet of the world.

If the definition of animals can be simplified as the ability to eat through the mouth, communicate by the tongue, breathe through the nose and move from one place to another, then I can agree more that human being is a higher animal.

Every animal that has lived life has an inherent character of fear.

Fear: Fear is an emotion induced by perceived danger or threat, which causes physiological changes and ultimately behavioral changes, such as fleeing, hiding or freezing from perceived traumatic events. Fear in human beings may occur in response to a certain stimulus occurring in the present, or in anticipation or expectation of a future threat perceived as a risk to oneself. Without going too scientific, Fear, in my own terms, is any frightening reaction or response from oneself as a result of an event that happened or about to occur which may not necessarily be hazardous or harmful to the body. Such fear could come after seeing a bad school result.

Every human being today is birthed with a deep level of fear infused in its mind. In fact, the first thing human is exposed to at birth is fear which goes on to ignite cry of the baby. This fear remains with the baby until it is given the courage to remain silent, hence, fear is a dominant natural phenomenon in human life.

Courage: Courage is a mental or moral strength developed to persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty. In another word, courage is the quality shown by someone who decides to do something difficult or dangerous, even though they may be afraid. Well, sometimes it must not necessarily be a danger to life before you develop courage. So, to me, courage is just the ability to fight against the fear instilled in one’s mind without the use of a weapon, sheath, and sword.

Developing courage as a counterfeit to fear in our lives is of utmost paramountcy and this is because it takes stronger courage to beat big efforts and take the lead.

At the first phase, were the major characteristics of a human being but those features will be so incomplete without the inclusion of courage.

The lion is the king of the jungle today not because it is the wisest or the wildest animal but because lions are born with the heritage of overriding their dominant fear with the recessive courage in pursuit of food to put on the table.

You can only be a rich person, a leader, a champion, a winner, a record-breaker and a pacesetter when you roar like a lion.

After reading this, I challenge you to roar like a lion to conquer your fears, now and always.

Politics / Donald Trump May Intervene In Sowore’s Case by ishaqwaaaqil(m): 4:09am On Dec 08, 2019

AS the case of the convener of #RevolutionNow protest, Mr Omoyele Sowore gets messier, intandem with allegations of violation of law and order by the Department of State Service, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, on Saturday wrote to the United States President Mr Donald Trump to intervene.

The group’s letter was precipitated by the alleged invasion of courtroom and intimidation of Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu.

Reports had it that the DSS stormed the courtroom yesterday, caused pandemonium at the court and physically assaulted Mr Sowore.

The group which condemned the action of DSS yesterday opined; “The appalling invasion of the courtroom and the ill-treatment of Sowore and Bakare is a blatant attack on the rule of law and the sanctity and integrity of our justice system. An independent judiciary, free from intimidation and harassment is a basic precondition to a functioning democracy under the rule of law.

“The violent re-arrest of Sowore and Bakare right inside the courtroom is a textbook case of a mockery of justice and abuse of the judicial process. It drives home the failure of the Nigerian government to fulfill its constitutional and international human rights obligations to respect citizens’ human rights and observe the rule of law”, SERAP said.

In view of the above, SERAP via its Twitter handle solicited for the intervention of Trump, clarifying that Sowore is a husband to a US Citizen which compels him (TRUMP) to act.

Education / House Of Reps Calls Fut Minna To Maintain Status Quo On Its Fees And Charges by ishaqwaaaqil(m): 12:52pm On Nov 28, 2019

The House of Representatives has called on the Management of Federal University of Technology, FUT Minna to downward review of it’s new fees and charges for both fresh and returning post graduate students.

This following a motion moved today during the plenary session by the Member representing Bida/Gbako/Katcha Federal Constituency and Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Finance, Hon. Saidu Musa Abdul.

Hon. Musa Abdul noted that the Federal University of Technology Minna, Niger State recently came up with new fees and charges for both fresh and returning post graduate students of the institution which is on the high side and would affect students.

The lawmaker observed that the new arrangement which shows almost 100% increment in the fees and charges to be paid by both fresh and returning students has placed Federal University of Technology Minna among the most expensive public tertiary institutions in the Country.
According Hon. Saidu Musa, “the increment is coming at a time serious lamentation of economic hardships exists in the country and as such many parents and self-sponsored students will not able to pay the new fees/charges and consequently, the possibility of mass dropout is visible.
He further stated that school dropouts have always been accompanied by increase in idleness, social stigma, unemployment thereby breeding high rate of crimes and social vices in the society.

Education / Inside Life: Student Impregnates Female Lecturer In Nigeria by ishaqwaaaqil(m): 8:58pm On Nov 26, 2019

Information reaching Campus Cam Ug is that a bachelor of computer science student, Kevin from the Federal University of Lafia (Fulafia) has been expelled from the higher learning institution, after sleeping with a lecturer and successfully impregnating her.

Nigerian Student Impregnates his lecturer
The university disciplinary board is said to have received the disheartening news of the student impregnating his lecturer with acute shock, before deciding such a cruel penalty on the student.

Kevin’s action which has since put the university in the limelight for immorality and promiscuous behaviour has not only watered down the dignity of the university, but also the integrity of the lecturers therein.

A number of people have come out to criticize the level of self-respect for the lecturers and the codes that regulate the teacher versus student interaction.

The student who was called by the board to receive his expulsion letter argued sadly that the mistake was not entirely his. Kevin clarified that the initial advances into the love affair were initiated by the lecturer, who ended up desperately pleading with him to engage in a sexual affair with her and even possibly impregnating her.

He confessed that on times without numbers, the lecturer had convinced him to smash her cookie jar through her seductive moves and highly palatable figure. He said that he could not turn down the offer that came with harsh penalities from the lecturer and of course, his desire to swim in the attractive waters and get cool his appetite.

Kevin confessed that the lecturer had served him with ultimatums that would only be injurious to his stay in the university if he failed to drink from her river of life. Therefore, having no other choice, but to get down to business, confessed the lad, he jumped into the sweet business.

How the peculiar news went around the university and reached the board still remains a mystery. What the student recalls was an urgent call he had received one fateful day morning, requiring him to appear before the board the very day not later than noon.

Politics / DSS Boss May Go To Jail Over Sowore’s Continued Detention – Court by ishaqwaaaqil(m): 1:45pm On Nov 26, 2019

After a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, the court has threatened to jail the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Bichi, over the continued detention of the convener of the #revolutionnow movement, and his co-accused Olawale Bakare.

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu gave the warning on Monday after previously issuing a “notice of consequences of disobedience of court order,” on the DSS.

The court warned that unless the DSS director general obeyed the order of the Federal High Court ordering him to release the defendants, he would be guilty of contempt of court and will be liable to be committed to prison.

Sowore was arrested on August 3, 2019 for planning a protest which gained public attention under the hashtag #revolutionnow and has been in detention since then.

Although they had been granted bail twice, both Sowore and Bakare have still not been released by the DSS, which insists that Sowore would only be released to his sureties.

Meanwhile, Sowore has also filed a suit against the agency demanding N500 million for illegally detaining him and violating his fundamental human rights.

Politics / Minna-bida Road: How Did You Spend $181m Loan? Ex-gov Aliyu Asks Niger APC by ishaqwaaaqil(m): 11:22pm On Oct 26, 2019
The former Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu, on Saturday asked the All Progressives Congress-led government of the state to account for $181m he (Aliyu) sought and got from Islamic Development Bank for the dualisation of the Minna-Bida road that is now in deplorable condition.

He said that the loan did not hit the state’s bank account until after he had left office.

Aliyu disclosed this in Minna at the inauguration and presentation of flags to 25 chairmanship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party contesting in the November 30, 2019, Local Government elections in the state.

“I went to Jeddah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to seek for an interest-free loan to dualise the Minna-Bida Road, but by the time the money came I had left office in 2015.”

The former governor wondered why the present All Progressives Congress government has not utilised the money for the purpose, it was intended which has resulted in the total collapse of the road and untold hardship on motorists.

He asked the people of the state to challenge the APC government to give an account of what they had done with the loan.

Aliyu also accused the APC government of abandoning the security agencies in the state, a development which he said has brought about serious insecurity across the state.

“When I was in government I held regular security meetings with all the security agencies and traditional rulers and as well provide them with utility vehicles and boots,” he said.

“In the past, I meet regularly with security agents and provided what they need, but now I take a look at their shoes they are worn out. Government should stop lying to the security agents, they should stop promising to pay what they will not pay them.”

Aliyu went on to ask the people to vote for PDP candidates during the LG election in order for them to enjoy a better life at the grassroots.
