You're not really a "heavily educated country" in the real sense of it. Your tertiary institutions and its administrators are abysmally subpar. So, you really can't claim education as one of your strengths if you think about it.

People of the so called "Niger Delta" are the most confused set of people in Nigeria, but am not even in the mood for their shenanigans. I have only one thing to beg you people, it is enough that some of you chose to answer Igbo names while claiming non Igbo. Fine but if you want to answer those names answer it correctly not the adulterated forms in your bid to transform our names into another thing. Answer Nwogbo not Wobo( it even sounds like zobo). It's Ezenwa not Ezenwo. Answer Nwanne not Wene( don't know if it's short for Wednesday ). That's all I want to say., if you people cannot do this please answer names from your tribe ( If it exists ) or you can go and adulterate Yoruba names and answer(Take a cue from one minister from that region ).
It confuses you because you are not well read and do not even know the history of your own country. If you had an iota, you'd understand how the "South South" and "Niger Delta" regions came to be, and why they were created to further confuse Nigerians.

Why should Biafra be 5 states? dont you realise that the last Biafra was the entire Eastern Region? Do you know that the final president of Biafra was phlip Effiong, an Annang man?

Biafra has nothing to do with states, it has everything to do with tribes
Why wasn't Phillip Effiong made President or co-president along with Ojukwu? Why did they give him the cross to bear only after Ojukwu had fled his well fortified bunker into a private jet headed for the Ivory Coast?

Yes Igbos are domineering according to your kindergarten brain. They are so domineering that they ruled this country for more than 35 years... Kudos to their military. They are everything that is wrong with Nigeria. From political subversion to no contribution to the national economic grid. We can even sight their terrorist group that roams about, in the guise of herdsmen, raping women and killing innocent farmers. Igbos are the problem of Nigeria. They will come to your land, set up businesses and thus encourage cash flow in your area. They end up buying land and erecting structures that gives your area a modern look. They are very bad people, because even their economic activities affects the local negatively, because most locals become middlemen, suppliers and contractors, thus gaining employment on the process. Igbos are bad, I swear.
As for Ikwerre, even Akalaka, and Ochichi, an obvious Igbo names, their forebear, were forced by Igbos to bear Igbo name. This Igbo people ehn, nawa for them shocked They are super humans.
While Ibos might not specifically be the problem of Nigeria, there's no denying that they--- along with the North--- are the biggest reasons why Nigeria is the way it is today. All one has to do is go back to pre-independence Nigeria and study all the politicking that went on up until Jan.1966 to understand why blame squarely falls on those two groups. Not to say the other ethnicities haven't been at fault, but the overambitious desire to rule the whole country by politicians from those two areas has led to continual bickering that's usually left the Western Region stuck between the Devil, His Twin brother and the deep blue Atlantic Ocean.

After the civil was Oba Akenzua(who worked as a perm sec in Enugu for many years) and people like Mr. Asemota were the arrow heads of falsely prosecuting Igbos to satisfy Hausa Fulanis, last week I met the wretched old Asemota preaching as a member of the Elder christian council of Nigeria, appealing to and begging Igbos for forgiveness. I guess he doesn't want to die a liar like Akenzua!
.
Why is it only you guys everyone begs for forgiveness before they go on to the great beyond? Even when they were wronged by your tribe, someone always claims they begged for forgiveness before they died. Saro-Wiwa supposedly begged. Allegedly also did Awolowo, Adaka-Boro, Benjamin Adekunle and even Mamman Vasta. I had a Ibo Nigerian man whom ---not knowing how vast my knowledge of/and connection to Nigeria was---once tell me that Sanni Abacha's recorded last words were a plea of forgiveness from the Ibo nation. I resisted with all my strength from laughing loudly because I didn't want to be a rude host.

Yes SW is a British creation
The real Yoruba land is SW+Yoruba Kwara kogi and edo
Yorubas are not begging delta and edo to join them chai
South West is a Nigerian creation that was promoted by (South) Eastern politicians led by Nnamdi Azikiwe (using Anthony Enahoro as a front) to break up the power of the Yorubas by dividing their land. That whole area was formerly known as the Western Region and included present day Delta state. The Western Region was broken up into two, and from that came the Mid-west which Biafran forces invaded on their way to capture Lagos during the start of the Nigeria-Biafra war; that invasion led to a full fledged Nigerian civil war. But for that invasion, the battle would've been solely between the North and East as the MidWest (and the West ) had declared themselves neutral. The invasion left a sour taste in the mouths of the Edos, Itshekiris, Urhobos and co because the invading Ibo forces slaughtered them without remorse, removed them from seats of Governement Authority and instead put ethnic Ibos in charge of administration and governance of the region. It is no surprise then why, when Federal forces came to their rescue, the locals turned against their Ibo conquerors and joined the Federal forces in chasing them out of the Region.

The MidWest was further broken into Bendel State when states were created. Bendel state was later broken into Edo and Delta states.

Hence why it is laughable when Nnamdi Kanu and Ipob try to lay claim to any part of Nigeria after Onitsha. Either they are not cognizant of their history or they're trying to be deceptive. But, either way, if there is to ever be a Biafra the best thing would be to stop thinking of even an inch of land across the Niger River.

Agbakoba obviously has not been following, or is just plain dumb trying to be smart-by-half, or wants a job.

The video when he came to the US soliciting for funds for arms and insinuating he has backing of some countries already is incriminating enough.
I'm glad most smart and intelligent Igbos at the meeting asked him thought provoking questions, questions he could not provide intelligent answers to . . . glad they all quickly distanced themselves from him . . . they clearly told him this is tantamount to treason!

Secondly, Agbakoba (and I had some respect for the man) trying to downplay the criminal vitriol of the Arewas, is even more senseless (considering every Nigerian has a right to live in any part of this country) . . . equating it to some 'leave my house' order is as st00pid as a man can get.

I mean these are men who legally own properties in that part of the country, lived there for ages, some were actually given birth to there. However, Agbakoba thinks an ultimatum to leave or face genocide is legal.

You said it word for word what I would've said. You even started off exactly how I would've. I have nothing more to add.

The Leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has warned on Wednesday that his members and other eligible voters in Anambra State would boycott thev 2019 general elections if a referendum is not held.

Kanu, who spoke at his father’s palace in Afara Ukwu Ibeku, Umuahia, Abia State also stated that the gubernatorial election slated for November would not take place if the Federal Government fails to hold referendum before the election, The Nation reports.

The IPOB leader said, “Nigerian government should build as many prisons as possible to jail all Biafrans because there is no going back and we are ready to go there (prisons) unless the federal government gives us Biafra.

“We are starting with Anambra come November this year. There will be no governorship election in Anambra State. In 2019, the whole of Biafra land will not vote for any President. There will be no Senator, there will be no House of Reps, there will be no House of Assembly and there will be no councillorship elections in Biafra land if they (federal government) fail to call for a referendum.”

He urged his members to remain steadfast and calm as Biafra remains their only hope.

“We are not like any other people. People like us don’t come twice. That’s why I know that with the last breath in this very body that Biafra will be restored. There’s nothing anybody can do about it. Tell them that’s what I said. Nobody on this earth can stop Biafra,” he added.

Just a quick question: Who does Nnamdi Kanu hope to finance this Referendum? Broke Nigeria? This guy is sick and the quicker he's thrown in Prison pending trial, the better for the whole country.

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu reportedly invited about five thousand members of his group to his Afaraukwu residence but surprisingly, more than thirty thousand people turned up.

Kanu addressed the multitude of IPOB members in Umuahia, the Abia State capital in the presence of foreign journalists from reputable international media houses.

He responded to Acting President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo claim that the agitation for Biafra is unlawful in Nigeria. Kanu who’s facial expression obviously showed how outraged he was, said nobody can stop the coming of Biafra and he also unapologetically added that anybody who doesn’t want the coming of Biafra will die.He further urged the Nigerian government to build more prisons where Biafran people will be detained because according to him, they’re not going back until they get Biafra.

ORIENTAL TIMES gathered that the invitation was a calculated plan by Kanu to show the international community how ready the people of Biafra are for referendum.

The over 30,000 persons who gathered at the palace of HRH (Eze) Israel Okwu Kanu, father of the Radio Biafra Director, chanted several songs calling Kanu their saviour and at same time calling for a country of their own, Biafra.

martooski:
By MARK ITSIBOR, Abuja

The two chambers of the National Assembly have perfected plans to strip the executive arm of government of the power to prosecute persons suspected to have committed any offence against the Nigerian state

In the ongoing constitution amendment, the National Assembly is putting finishing touches on a legislation which aims at separating the office of the Attorney General of the Federation and those of the states from the office of the minister of or commissioner for justice.

The 8th Assembly has also approved a Bill for an Act seeking to make the office of the Auditor-General of the Federation and those of the states financially independent by placing them on the consolidated revenue of the federation and of the state.

The Bill provides for new sections ‘84A – 84E’ in section 84, which stipulates that “there shall be an Accountant-General of the Federation” and “there shall be an Accountant-General of the Federal Government”, respectively.

These amendments are part of the 23 item resolution approved by the House of Representatives Special Ad-hoc Committee on constitutional review, headed by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Yussuff Sulaimon Lasun.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the 23 items were also ratified by the constitutional review committee of the Senate, headed by the deputy Senate president, Ike Ekwerenmadu.

The Bill seeking to establish the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and of the states separately from the office of the Minister of or commissioner for justice is aimed at making the office of the Attorneys-General independent and insulated from partisanship.

According to the Bill, the Attorney-General of the Federation shall not be a member of any political party and shall hold office for a single term of seven years and no more until he attains the age of sixty-five years, whichever is earlier
It also seeks to redefine the role of the Attorney-General and provide a fixed tenure, increase the age and qualification for appointment as well as provide for more independent process for the appointment of the Attorney-General.

The Bill seeks to amend sections 150 and 174 of the 1999 constitution (as amended).
Section 150 (1) stipulates that “there shall be an Attorney General of the Federation who shall be the Chief Law Officer and a Minister of the Government of the Federation”.

In the proposed amendment, the section provides that “there shall be a Minister of Justice who shall be a Minister and Chief Law Officer of the Government of the Federation”.

While a new insertion is being proposed to section 174 (A) which provides that “there shall be an Attorney-General of the Federation who shall be appointed by the President subject to confirmation by the Senate”.

The amendment further proposes that a person shall not be qualified to hold or perform the functions of the office of the Attorney General of the Federation unless he is qualified to practise as a legal practitioner in Nigeria and has been so qualified for not less than ten years.
But in the case of the Minister, “a person shall not be qualified to hold or perform the functions of the office of Minister of Justice of the Government of the Federation unless he is qualified to practise as a legal practitioner in Nigeria and has been so qualified for not less than fifteen years”.

In the case of Attorneys-General of states, the bill seeks to amend sections 195 and 211 of the constitution.
Section 195 stipulates that “there shall be an Attorney-General for each State who shall be the Chief law Officer and Commissioner for Justice of the Government of that State”.

But in the proposed amendment, the section provides that “here shall be a Commissioner for Justice of the Government of a State”, while a new insertion to section 211 provides that “there shall be an Attorney-General of a State who shall be appointed by the Governor subject to confirmation by the State House of Assembly”.

According to the Bill, the Attorney- General of a state shall not be a member of any political party and shall hold office for a single term of six years and no more until he attains the age of sixty-five years, whichever is earlier.
Meanwhile, the Bill which proposes to guarantee independence for the office of the Auditor-General for the Federation and for the State seeks to amend Section 6 of the First Alteration No.1, 2011 by inserting in subsection (3) a new paragraph “(d)” “(d) office of the Auditor-General for the Federation.

The Bill also seeks to alter Section 121 of the Principal Act by substituting for subsection (3), with a new subsection “(3)” thus: “Any amount standing to the credit of the- Auditor-General for the State, and Judiciary, in the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the State shall be paid directly to the said bodies respectively, in the case of judiciary, such amount shall be paid directly to the heads of the courts concerned.

Now since we are talking about district courts and in this case federal district courts, I'm correct to call it one of the lowest because compared to circuit courts and Supreme court, it handles every trashy case thrown at it. Now being one of the lowest does not mean inefficient, it only means that cases of highly important magnitudes rarely ever gets settled in district courts. I hope I've been able to enlighten you a little bit....No need to thank me grin grin

Under normal Circumstances, I shouldn't indulge you because you are obviously trolling, but since Im bored I will.

You truly think State Circuit Courts are higher than Federal District Courts? You also really think Federal District Courts handle "every trashy case thrown at it"? grin grin grin

Believe it or not the U.S District Court is probably the MOST POWERFUL ENTITY IN ALL OF THE UNITED STATES; EVEN MORE POWERFUL THAN THE PRESIDENT. Except the Judges don't have the Nuke codes. If your case is not heard by the U.S District Court, it is not going to be heard by higher Courts like the Court of Appeals or Supreme Court. Do you get it now? So, don't think of "Low" in terms of "Worthless". It is low in terms of "hierarchy" and whatever has been decided in District Court is held in high regards by the higher courts.

I believe your country has a similar Judicial system if I'm not mistaken.

It is irrelevant in so far as you tried to use it as a criteria to whether I could be versed in the discussion at hand or not. You alleged I wasn't because, according to you: "As an AUSA, you are a criminal prosecutor. Claims under the TVPA and the ATCA are usually civil matters and don't involve federal prosecutors. I'm no expert here but I studied the TVPA hard in law school.". You also said I didn't know what I was talking about.

If you studied it in school what makes you think I didn't? And if Ive served in the Federal Court System longer than you, what makes you think I don't have more experience in how cases like this usually end up?

I do not think thats contradictory in any way.
