You must be quite ignorant of the corrupt politics that the ancient popes engaged in? You are truly a brainwashed fellow. Even your username (Italo is short for italy) shows subservience to Rome (the vatican). You sound like the ancient altar boys in the Borgias play- groomed and brainwashed for servitude to the church.

Ad hominem.
JackBizzle:

As for hospice, in my village and up till today, we have a "herbalist" who looks after strong cases of illness. He helps them pass on to the next life. The herbalist and his disciples feed and wash the patients till they die.

Guy. smiley

Aha! So you know there is a next life. grin

No. Neither did God tell me to feed his sheep. He told it to Peter alone and gave him the keys to the kingdom.

I will like to ask you one question
Why is it that catholic world believes in bowing to graven images while God in exodus 20 verse 4 says you should not.
All over the world graven images are all over catholic churches and they kneel to bow to it

Read Joshua 7:6, then come back and tell me if Joshua and the Israelites bowed to graven images or not.

Wait......fact checking......

The catholic church did not invent charity. The catholic wealth from which they do charity is an ill-gotten wealth. Political skulduggery, Land grabs, brainwashing for offering etc.

The catholic church did not invent hospices. Many early society had organised ways to care for the dying. Your Nigerian culture and ancestry had a version of hospice. See how catholic church has destroyed your brain? You even deny your own culture.

smh. Italo

Mention the Nigerian hospice you're talking about. And tell us if it was run by Atheists.

And provide proof that the Catholic Church gets its charity money illegally...bitter thing.

Plundering which people? When and where?

You're just bitter that the Catholic Church is the biggest charity in the world offering education, health care and other help to billions in the world, while Atheism only offers bitterness, emptiness and destruction.

Atheism is not a rival church or religion.

By the way, why not mention the torture devices, genocidal crusades and suppression of knowledge (science) tactics your catholic church invented?

grin

If Atheism isn't a rival religion, why did you compare the ages of Atheism and Catholicism?

If the Catholic Church suppressed science, why was a Catholic priest Fr George Lemaitre the first person to propounded the big bang theory? Why are 35 craters on the moon named after Jesuits? Why did a Catholic Priest Jean-Baptiste Lamarck prefigure the theory of evolution? Why are Thomas Aquinas and Roger Bacon credited with helping to develop the scientific method?

If the Catholic Church invented torture devices, why did torture devices exist before the Catholic Church?

The Crusades were a beautiful invention. We need another Crusade against ISIS.

By the way, it's very telling that you can't point out a single benefit Atheism has offered humanity...Just bitterness and destructiin.

Ramen!

Serious? Yet Atheism waited for Catholic Church to come and invent hospices, modern university system, become the single biggest charity organization in the world, etc

Why would I need an atheism section? I'm not afraid of my views being challenged. In fact, it's kinda healthy to constantly have to rethink your stance on a subject.

It's just when I saw the title, I was expecting OP to cite some archaeological findings and what-not. I was disappointed to find some weak questions that anyone who calls himself/herself a Christian should know.

All the archeological evidence shows the Catholic Church to be the first/only Church.

Nevertheless.

The context was a PHYSICAL WALL to be erected between the borders of Mexico and the US and the Pope did not mince his words.

No one has the monopoly on charitable deeds to the poor. There's no way you can say Donald Trump doesn't assist the poor from his enormous wealth.

Was Pope Francis also talking about metaphysical homosexuals when he said he can't judge them?

Please stay within the context and leave sermon for the pulpit.

Pope Francis: "And then, a person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian."

So you believe the Pope was talking about physical bridges too abi?

What poor understanding you're exhibiting!

@blue, yet he said to Donald Trump who claims belief in Jesus Christ,
that he is not a Christian.
The popes accusation was not Christian.

Phil Pullella, Reuters: Today, you spoke very eloquently about the problems of immigration. On the other side of the border, there is a very tough electoral battle. One of the candidates for the White House, Republican Donald Trump, in an interview recently said that you are a political man and he even said that you are a pawn, an instrument of the Mexican government for migration politics. Trump said that if he’s elected, he wants to build 2,500 kilometers of wall along the border. He wants to deport 11 million illegal immigrants, separating families, etcetera. I would like to ask you, what do you think of these accusations against you and if a North American Catholic can vote for a person like this?

Pope Francis: Thank God he said I was a politician because Aristotle defined the human person as 'animal politicus.' At least I am a human person. As to whether I am a pawn, well, maybe, I don't know. I'll leave that up to your judgment and that of the people. And then, a person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian. This is not in the Gospel. As far as what you said about whether I would advise to vote or not to vote, I am not going to get involved in that. I say only that this man is not Christian if he has said things like that. We must see if he said things in that way and in this I give the benefit of the doubt.

http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/full-text-of-pope-francis-in-flight-interview-from-mexico-to-rome-85821/

What do the bold say to you (noting that the Pope is not speaking of physical walls and bridges)?

It says to me that it is a conditional, non-definitive statement.

Find answers within. grin

An2elect2:
1) Is there a history of christianity in the bible?

Yes.

2) Where did the bible say it all started?

Israel.

3) Does the bible recognise an institution OR a group of people washed by the blood of the lamb as the church?

Yes.

4) Does the bible recognise any authority that concerns spirituality order than the bible itself

Yes. 1Tim3:15 "...the church of the living God, the pillar and bulwark of the truth." Matt16:18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

5) Who was Peter according to the bible?

The Prime Minister of the Kingdom of God, who had the keys to the kingdom and the authority to bind and loose on earth and heaven. smiley(as seen in the verse above)

6) Did the other apostles/believers consult Peter for spiritual direction/judgement.

Yes. Luke22:32 but I have prayed that your own faith may not fail; and once you have turned back, you must strengthen your brothers.” Paul (even after meeting Jesus) went to Peter and stayed 15days before beginning his ministry (Gal1:18). It was Peter that resolved the first doctrinal dispute in the Council of Jerusalem Acts15). How could they not consult the one with keys to the kingdom? grin

7) Was Peter seen as a Jesus-representative/vicar by other believers. Or was he a fellow elder and believer who had many weaknesses like the others and had to rely solely on the grace of God?

Peter was Christ's representative and Vicar. John 21:15-17 - Jesus charges Peter to "feed my lambs," "tend my sheep," "feed my sheep." Sheep means all people, even the apostles. Yes, Peter had weaknesses, but that doesn't stop him from being the Vicar of Christ.
Acts 1:15 - Peter initiates the selection of a successor to Judas right after Jesus ascended into heaven, and no one questions him.
Acts 5:3 - Peter declares the first anathema of Ananias and Sapphira which is ratified by God, and brings about their death.

Being a Christian is not about whether you want to build walls or not,
it's about having faith in Jesus Christ.

The pope may not know much about true Christianity.

Being Christian is about Faith and action!

Matt25:34 Then the king will say to those at his right hand, ‘Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; 35 for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,

The Pope obviously knows far more about Christianity than you and all your pastorpreneurs put together.

False! Pope Pius XII used to sneak out to help smuggle Rome's Jews to safety during World War 2.

Many Pope's could have done it without the press knowing and spreading it. No pope would want to publicize it. Francis' secret trips were not confirmed in this story, remember.

Religion / Re: Catholic Bishop's Ordered Not To Report Clerical Child Abuse To Authorities by italo: 8:12am On Feb 11, 2016
luciomoggi:
Catholic bishops have been instructed to deal with clerical child abuse domestically rather than report to the police.

This is contained in the training guideline which was written by French psychotherapist and Monsignor, Tony Anatrella. Anatrella is also a consultant for the Pontifical Council for the Family . The guideline was made public during the training of newly named bishops recently .

The guideline stated that reporting clerical child abuse to the police was a "moral obligation" rather than a "civil obligation". The guideline tries to downplay the damage child abuse has done to the Catholic church in the past and claims the increased child abuse are mostly committed by family, friends , neighbours and not authority figures.

The training program has also covered 30% of Catholic Prelates since it's introduction in 2001.

The Pope (Francis) has been criticised severely for been too silent on an important issue like clerical child abuse. This is not the first time , the pressure is on the Catholic Church to make reforms to carter for such negative actions as a few years ago, Cardinal Bernard Law was forced to resign over sexual abuse scandals that hit his Boston archdiocese, as more than 150 priests were accused of child molestation.
