Education / Re: Should I Continue With Mathematics Or Write JAMB To Study Computer Science? by jaaif: 6:06pm On Jan 10, 2019

I love programming and I love Mathematics. I choose Mathematics myself when I applied for jamb since 2017. Currently in 200lvl. My eldest brother called my dad and ask him what I was studying, so he told him it's "Mathematics". After their discussion, I was told to start planning to write another jamb and choose computer science. I don't know how to convince them. pls help, should I continue with Mathematics or sit for another jamb.

pls, I need your candid advice.

I'll advice you to continue with your mathematics program. Computer science is not something you drop out to study, with the proliferation of MOOCs everywhere on the internet, you can learn just about everything a CS degree in Nigeria would give you.

Listen, myself and a lot of my friends are hardcore programmers and software architects and none of us have a CS degree, we learnt the art of our trade online, study mathematics and do the same.

Though, these days, maths by itself is useless without programming. The beauty of maths in my industry is in the application which basically means you should focus more on your numerical methods. Scientific computing is hot right now and is a fine blend of both worlds (maths and CS).

As for job opportunities, so long as you can master a few programming languages, you'll never have a problem. You're in 200 level, which means IT soon. Just improve your numerical methods skills (I mean master and own it) and you can apply at CypherCrescent LTD www.cyphercrescent.com, it's a Nigerian company that has some of the smartest dudes in the country, they do a lot of mathematical modelling, just the sort of thing you'll like. Look them up, contact me if you wish, I'll love to help you harness your passion for maths. Cheers bro.

I just pity this country. I think it's really time for revolution. The people against the government. Make we kukuma destroy the country start over again. It's too much sef. Every time from frying pan to fire. Weda it's apc or pdp i don't give a hoot. I don't even think there is any political divide in this country. They are all one body acting a script. These same people who bash each other have their secret place of meeting where they strategize for their next move. It's time for we as a people in unity to fight this government and oust all of them. Very incompetent set of people in leadership positions. I watched a movie yesterday "Snowden" in that movie it wasn't even the fact that America is spying on the whole world that got my attention. It's the level of intelligence these people have. I was baffled. As it is, america is already in the future while Africa is still trying to copy their past.
I get sick to my stomach when i see how our youths who are supposed to be the leaders of tomorrow let themselves to be used as pawns by these politicians for their selfish gains.
It is time to take OUR country back!
It's not Apc or PDP who owns the country. It's you and i. Trust me. Even if leadership changes hands it's still going to continue like this or even worst. The political system needs to be purged.
Lets start making the noise!

REVOLUTION!!!
I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK!!!
Lets kick off this trend.
I'm ready to give my life for this course i swear!
#GIVEMEMYCOUNTRY

How do we start bro? There's nothing I would want to do more than back this "noble" cause.
