Apple is expected to sell more laptops in 2021 than it did this year, according to research firm Finaria, with total shipments expected to reach 17.1 million units.

Furthermore, 2020 is also expected to produce a jump in MacBook shipments, as the Cupertino-based tech giant is believed to have sold 15.5 million units this year, an increase of 23 percent year over year, despite the crazy year 2020 has been.

It’s easy to see why Apple sold more laptops, however. With more people moving to working from home, sales of such devices skyrocketed, especially as they needed more efficient ways to remain productive outside of their normal office.

“The coronavirus pandemic changed that, as the global demand for PCs and laptops surged amid the lockdown. The company’s data show that Apple Mac sales in the first quarter of 2020 amounted to 3.5 million units, 6% less than in the same period a year ago,” Finaria says.

“In the second quarter, Apple sold 4.3 million Mac computers worldwide, a 5% jump year-over-year. The increasing trend continued in the third quarter of 2020, with Mac global shipments growing by 7% YoY to 5.5 million.”
New MacBooks coming next year

In the meantime, however, iPhones continue to be Apple’s very own superstar, and it’s still the number one device that brings home the bacon for the Cupertino tech giant, the report says.

“iPhone sale remains Apple’s largest revenue stream, generating 40.9% of profits in Q4 FY2020. Services, wearables, home and accessories, and iPad sales followed with 22.5%, 12.5% and 10.5%, respectively” FInaria says.

Apple is projected to unveil new devices next year too, including not only new MacBooks, but also a new-generation iPhone in September. New iPads are also likely, with a Pro model refresh expected in the spring of 2021.

Samsung is ready to copy another Apple idea, and the Galaxy S21 is therefore expected to come without a charger in the box.

But according to a recent tweet from leaker Ishan Agarwal (which has since been deleted), the South Korean company wants to go even further with this approach, so the Galaxy S21 would also come without earphones in the box.

In other words, only the USB-C cable would be shipped with the device, which is exactly the approach Apple has embraced for the iPhone 12.

Earlier this year, Apple more or less took the world by surprise when it decided to ship the iPhone 12 without a charger in the box, and the company said the whole thing was a measure aimed at protecting the environment. You know, because there are too many chargers out there, but if you don’t have one, there’s no problem, you can always get one from Apple at an extra charge.
No earphones and charger with the S21

Samsung is most likely going for the same idea, so while the S21 would come without a charger and earphone in the box, you’d still be able to get them separately.

Of course, the exception would be France and Brazil where such accessories must be offered with any smartphone as per the local regulations.

The Galaxy S21 is projected to be announced in mid-January, while sales are projected to begin later the same month. This means it’ll take less than a month until we finally get our hands on the Galaxy S21, though for the time being, Samsung has remained completely tight-lipped on everything related to the unveiling of its new product.

An official confirmation of the mid-January Unpacked event, however, is expected at some point next week.

With the release of the Atlas update, the folks over at CD Projekt RED are one step closer to turning GOG Galaxy into a master client for all your game accounts. Valve has tried that too, as players can add non-Steam games to their library and even launch them from within the dedicated client.

GOG Galaxy 2.0 Atlas update brings a lot more improvements that exceed our expectations. Many of the changes included in the have been inspired by beta participants, GOG confirmed in a forum post.

The most important change added in the Atlas update is the option to manually add games. All games found with Global Search can now be marked as owned, and then linked to an executable for launching and game time tracking.

Another important addition to the game client is Global Search. With the latest update, players will be able to find games, friends, and metadata using the new search button (or Ctrl+F/CMD+F). Also, quick actions like launching games or starting a chat are now available from Global Search.

Some of the new features added in the update like the “downloads view” are only available for games bought from GOG.com. The new feature lets users manage their active, queued, and completed downloads from a new section that appears in the sidebar automatically.

Last but not least, new grid and list views customization have been added. If you're a beta tester, you'll now see new columns available in the library list view. You'll be able to reorder and toggle columns in the list view, customize additional info shown in the grid view, or sort and group with new options.

Microsoft’s work on the new Chromium-based Edge browser advances at a fast pace, and after it revealed some of its short-term feature plans for the app, the company now confirmed another improvement that it has in mind.

Microsoft Edge will soon sport support for Windows 10 Timeline, according to the Microsoft Edge dev team which took to Reddit for an AMA session.

When asked if Microsoft plans to add Windows Timeline integration in Microsoft Edge, the team briefly answered that “we’re actively working on it,” with no other specifics offered for the time being.

Timeline is a Windows feature that creates snapshots of the running apps, documents, and browser tabs and allows you to restore full sets of activities within a timeframe of 30 days.

With Timeline expanded beyond Windows, it’s now possible to sync browsing sessions between Android and Windows 10, so by adding support for the Chromium engine, these two platforms would work together even more seamlessly.

What will be interesting to find out is how Microsoft plans to integrate Windows Timeline support in the new Edge browser.

The original Timeline version only worked with the native Edge browser that comes pre-loaded on Windows 10, but an extension published in the Chrome Web Store enabled similar functionality for Google Chrome as well.

Microsoft hasn’t yet confirmed whether it plans to support Timeline in the new Edge with an extension or natively as a built-in feature, but there’s a chance the company implements it at browser level, especially as the revamped Edge will become the new default in Windows 10.

Without any specifics provided it’s hard to tell when Windows Timeline integration is projected to go live for Microsoft Edge users. At the same time, the company hasn’t shared details as to when it aims to finalize the development work of the stable build of Microsoft Edge.
