Nairaland / General / Five Things To Avoid When Chatting Up Someone by Jahelastic(m): 1:25pm On Jul 30, 2016
Communication between two strangers can be hard. Make them both of different genders and you have the world’s oldest mystery on your hands. Contrary to what our parents said, it’s not one of those things you get better at by being a good boy and reading your books. In fact, it seems to get worse the smarter you are.

Have you missed out on an opportunity to get to know someone because you were tongue tied? Well hopefully this will happen never again. The next time you want to walk up to someone, here are five things that you should avoid.

PS: Ladies, don’t leave the challenge to the men, you can use them too.

1) Having Nothing To Say :

Impulse is not always bad and sometimes there’s no time. But the last thing you want to do is hold her up and not be able to string together a coherent sentence. You might still get her number out of pity but is that really a first impression you’d like to leave? Whether it’s a compliment or a joke, have at least one sentence ready.

2) Using Clichés:

‘I think I’ve seen you somewhere before’ or ‘You must have fallen from heaven’. Unless you are absolutely sure this is true, no one wants to hear these clichés that have been around since 1000B.C. It immediately makes people distrust you and raise their walls even higher. Your best bet is honesty. Simple sentences that say exactly what you mean, devoid of Shakespearean phrases will always go down well.

3) Being Dishonest:

Not all Prada wearing women are the Devil. Contrary to popular opinion, a conversation that is honest gives you a much better chance at walking away with her contact details than one in which you’re lying through your teeth. Exaggerations of wealth and status are particularly annoying because either way, when the truth is out your dishonesty buys you a ticket to Blockedville. Women have various people try to talk to them daily and they so become pretty good at spotting phoniness a mile away.

4) Making It About You:

Confidence is a nice scent, but not when worn so thickly that we reek of narcissism. Speaking in a way that implies you deem it an honour to the other person that you’re talking to them (because after all, here you are) is a must. You should put the focus on the person you are speaking to before yourself. Ask them about themselves instead of weighing them down with your own life story. You come off as haughty and no one wants to be friends with anyone like that. Speak in a strong clear voice and make eye contact, implying that you know your worth, but never blow your own horn.

5) Appearing Desperate:

Sometimes a ‘No’ means just that and not an invitation to try to convince her by going down on your knees. When in doubt, her body language definitely doesn’t lie. Over the top displays of affection will not only embarrass you both but make you seem creepy, thereby putting the nail in the coffin of your plans. Women are not all fickle creatures whose minds can be changed by grandiose gestures. Smile, say bye and walk away.

Do these tips still apply if the person is halfway across the globe? Sure; what’s more AfriMobile offers cheap calls intonationally. You can even connect with your loved ones for FREE, using voice or video calls and text messages. So sit back, collect yourself and enjoy the conversation. We love connecting people!

Nairaland / General / Flood Kills 14 Wedding Guests by Jahelastic(m): 12:39pm On Jul 30, 2016
Flood kills 14 wedding guests

At least 14 people were killed Saturday when a vehicle carrying wedding guests was washed off a mountainous road by floodwater and flung into a gorge, an official said.

“Dead bodies of 14 people had been retrieved, most of those killed and wounded were women and children,” Rahimullah Mehsud, a local government official of Khyber tribal district, where the incident took place, told AFP.

The accident happened when a pick-up truck carrying the groom’s party of more than 20 people was hit by floods in a remote village of Khyber, one of Pakistan’s seven tribal districts bordering Afghanistan.

Mehsud said a search was ongoing for the missing but rescue workers and residents were facing difficulties as the “area is remote and mountainous”.

He added: “We have no exact number of those travelling in the Datsun pick-up but residents told us there were more than 20.”

The heavy monsoon rains began earlier this month, drenching the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and central Punjab provinces, which have been badly affected by flooding in recent years that some scientists have linked to climate change.

Romance / Why Most Women Are Not Sexually Satisfied by Jahelastic(m): 9:51am On Jul 30, 2016
Sex has been described as one of the activities that boost closeness in marriage, but the lack of it, or its inadequacy, can equally be detrimental to the success of union.

This all-important activity is so vital that marriage counsellors and psychologists often advise couples not to joke with it, for the sake of keeping their homes together, even if they have to prepare a timetable for it, so that the needs of both parties can be well taken care of.

Meanwhile, sex is only good when the two persons enjoyed the act and reached climax (ejaculation for men and orgasm for women), but findings have shown that in most cases, men reach orgasm in about 95 per cent of their sexual activities while about 25 per cent of women reach orgasm in their sexual encounters.

Mrs. Motun (surname withheld) is one of such women who could count how many times she has reached orgasm on her fingers; even with that, she won’t go far on the first five fingers.

“And you know the irony there, my husband and I have sex at least thrice a week, but he’s the only one who enjoys it,” she told our correspondent.

She continued, “Perhaps there is something wrong somewhere. It has almost become a norm and it is an issue you can’t talk to anyone about, so as not to be labelled as being wild. After two to three minutes, my husband ejaculates and that is the end. And the most annoying part is that he sleeps off shortly after. It can be so annoying.

“Initially, I thought it was normal, but while interacting with people, I found that a woman can also reach orgasm. Maybe because I didn’t have experience about sex before I married, so I didn’t know much about it. The situation has made me to lose interest in sex because he puts me in the mood and leaves shortly after.”

Out of frustration of being left hanging after every sexual activity, Motun confronted her husband on the need to satisfy her as well, but was shocked when her husband told her “I’m trying my best.”

Mosun, a mother of one, is one out of millions of women who rarely or never reach orgasm, as evidenced by the responses of women who spoke to Saturday PUNCH. It wasn’t an issue many of them were willing to talk about, because it is considered a taboo for women to discuss such a topic in public, but those who spoke to our correspondent expressed their frustration and more importantly, the fact that they are helpless.

Even though reaching climax or not has no impact on women’s ability to conceive, it has a lot of impact on how much they enjoy sex.

It is therefore helpful to decipher why many women don’t reach orgasm.

Here is the reason. Men are able to reach orgasm quickly because the nerves that trigger that intense pleasure are located in the glans (the rounded part forming the head of the penis), thus, its stimulation, usually through rubbing the vaginal walls during intercourse, helps them to ejaculate in ‘record’ time.

But for women, those nerves that should drive them to reach orgasm are not really in the vagina where they can be stimulated during sex; they are located in the clitoris, which is located at the anterior end of the vulva, or say towards the north (upper) part of the vaginal opening.

Due to the location, the clitoris, which is female’s most sensitive zone, is usually not directly stimulated by the penis during intercourse. Thus, a large number of women are not able to climax, even if the sexual act lasts for a longer time.

According to previous studies, sexual activity is usually between 33 seconds and 13 minutes, and understandably, some men could take longer before they ejaculate, but regardless of the length of time, a number of women may still not reach orgasm.

Therefore, it is for no hidden reason that women who are unable to reach orgasm get to that destination when their clitoris is stimulated by mere hand, simply because that is where the nerves are.

According to a consultant endocrinologist, Dr. Olamoyegun Michael, the primary reason women don’t reach orgasm through penetrative sex is the inadequate stimulation of the clitoris by the male organ during sex.

He said some women actually do reach orgasm but that a significant percentage of women don’t reach that peak and that it is as a product of so many factors. He said even among those who claim to reach that level, some fake it to satisfy the man or not to puncture his ego.

He added, “Clitoris is located at the upper part of the vagina wall. And because of that location, penetrative sex may not drive it to orgasm in some women, unless you use some other means.

“However, some women can reach orgasm through penetration, depending on the experience of both of them, how roomy the woman is, how big the man is, the technique and some other factors. So, it is not hidden that clitoris can affect their ability to reach orgasm or its frequency.

“That is why in the olden days, when women were circumcised, which is the removal of the clitoris, the belief was that those who were not circumcised could be promiscuous, and that goes to show that the clitoris is very sensitive and is important in female sexual satisfaction.”

He explained further that the clitoris can be likened to a man’s glans, noting that contrary to some beliefs, clitoris does not grow with age. He said the clitoris only expands in size when stimulated due to the increased blood flow.

He stated, “It is not that clitoris grows with age and it doesn’t mean that the size of the clitoris in a 10-year-old is the same with that of a 35-year-old. No. It grows, but that increase is related to stimulation.

“Just as it is in men, when the male organ becomes more turgid during sexual intercourse due to the increased blood flow, the same thing happens to the clitoris. When it is stimulated, blood flow to that part increases and it expands the size, length and its sensitivity. And the rate at which it will expand varies from one person to another, just as some women release fluid in their genitals after reaching orgasm while some don’t.”

Overall, Olamoyegun maintained that when it comes to penetrative sex, the penis may not reach the clitoris well enough, because of where it (clitoris) is located, but that through other means, like manual stimulation, women may find it easy to reach orgasm.

Notably, there are many routes to sexual satisfaction (orgasm), including stimulation of nipples, the earlobes and kissing. And once the woman’s erogenous zone is explored during that activity, it takes them to that destination.

But given these options, some women still do not reach orgasm. Olamoyegun explained that women who have previously been sexually abused, or are being abused or maltreated by their husbands may find it difficult to reach orgasm and those who are frigid (inability of a female to respond to sexual stimulus) may find it difficult to reach orgasm because of their past experience.

He noted that those who have worries, challenges and those who have financial issues may also find it difficult to climax because of their state of mind.

He added, “Some women are frigid and such people are usually tensed. Thus, they don’t enjoy sex, let alone have orgasm. That could be a product of previous sexual abuse or rape. It is the same experience when the woman is being abused by the man. In addition, there are other medical conditions that can cause it, like diabetes, but there are drugs that can help that now.

“Then we have economic factor, which also applies to men. When there is no money, sex might be the last thing on his mind. So, for a woman too, if there are domestic or other issues on her mind, sex might not appeal to her.”

Family / My Husband Dates Four Girls On Our Street by Jahelastic(m): 3:17pm On Jul 28, 2016
A 42-year-old woman, Mrs. Cecilia Ajayi, on Thursday pleaded with an Igando Customary Court in Lagos State to dissolve her marriage with her husband, John Ajayi, aged 46.

Cecilia, the petitioner, accused Ajayi, the defendant, to whom she had been married for 20 years of being as a womaniser.

“My husband is a womaniser; he is dating four girls in our street and brings them into our matrimonial home.

“On many occasions he and his lovers had beaten me up whenever I prevented them from entering our room.

“He was not satisfied with his lovers, as he severally made attempts to rape my younger sister,’’ the wife told the court on Thursday.

She also accused her with who she had three children of being a drunk.

Cecilia said, “John is a drunk. After drinking to stupor, he will be falling inside gutter, talking in an incoherent manner.”

She also claimed that her husband sent her packing because she was not educated, saying, “he can no longer cope with illiterate.”

The wife said that John refused to leave his family house since they got married in 1996.

“On three occasions, I was attacked by John’s family members over inheritance,” she said.

“My husband’s family wanted to kill me; they said that I was the one preventing my husband from sharing his late father’s property.”

“John always said that he could not relocate from his family house.”

She urged the court to end the marriage, saying that she was no longer interested in the affair because her life was no longer safe.

The petitioner, John Ajayi (46) , however, denied the allegations, saying that his wife ran away with a man because he lost his job and no longer financially buoyant.

“Things were moving on fine until I lost my job and her behaviour changed, she packed out to live with another man.

“She even gave birth to her new lover two months ago,’’ the author said.

The respondent said that he could not leave his family house because he was the only son in the family.

John, therefore, begged the court not to grant his wife’s wish adding that he was still in love with her.

The President of the court, Mr. Adegboyega Omilola, after listening to the couple, adjourned the case to September 27, his for judgment.

Sports / Keshi Did Extraordinary Things – Pinnick by Jahelastic(m): 3:05pm On Jul 28, 2016
The President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, on Thursday paid tribute to the late ex-Super Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi, describing him as a super hero.

“I have always described him as a super hero because he was a super hero. He did not do things that were regular he did things that were extraordinary,” Pinnick said at the funeral mass for Keshi.

Pinnick, who led an NFF delegation to the funeral mass, which was held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Benin, said the federation would honour the late icon.

“That (honour) is definitely going to be done,” Pinnick he said.

Keshi died on June 8‎ in Benin at the age of 54, after a 44-month spell as coach of the Super Eagles.

He was one of the only two players to have won the African Cup of Nations both as player and as coach in 1994 and 2013.‎

One of the in-laws of the late coach, Richard Aburimen, said he would remain in the hearts of his loved ones.

Aburimen said, “Stephen Okechukwu Keshi was, quintessentially a good man, a man of peace. He was a giver; he never held back and that why he was as big as he was.”

Also present was the Chairman of the Edo State Football Association, Frank Ilaboya, and former team mates of the late football strategist, including Austin Eguavoen.

The officiating priest, Very Rev. Fr. Richard Ofere, said that Keshi lived an exemplary live as a member of the parish, where he contributed selflessly to the development of football.

While stressing the need to believe in the resurrection, the priest noted that death was not the end of the life of a true Christian.

Ofere added that righteousness and true worship of God were prerequisites for Christians who desire to see God.

‎‎After the funeral mass, the body of the former Super Eagles captain was later moved to the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium for a novelty match between ex-internationals and all stars.

Afterwards, there would be a lying-in-state‎ and tributes at the indoor hall of the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State.

Nairaland / General / Cockroach Milk Is The Protein Drink You Didn't Know You've Been Missing by Jahelastic(m): 8:22am On Jul 28, 2016
:PA little cockroach milk with those cookies? Chock full of protein, the insect milk may someday be transformed into a food supplement worthy of human consumption, new research indicates.

Scientists have found that the Pacific Beetle Cockroach feeds its bug babies a formula which is remarkably rich in protein, fat and sugar.

Don't expect to find it next to the regular milk in the dairy section, however, at least not for now.

"Any liquid harvested from a cockroach is not true milk. At least not as we think of it," said Becky Facer, director of school and educator programs at Fernbank Museum of Natural History in Atlanta.

Most people would agree. After all, the insect liquid takes the form of protein crystals in the guts of baby cockroaches.

"The protein crystals are milk for the cockroach infant. It is important for its growth and development," said Leonard Chavas, one of the scientists behind the research. He explained the crystals have a whopping three times the energy of an equivalent mass of buffalo milk, about four times the equivalent of cow's milk.

"The interest here was, what is it really made of?" said Chavas, one of the authors of the research, published in July in the journal International Union of Crystallography.

Chavas and his colleagues examined the species, also known as Diploptera punctata, which is the only species of cockroach known to be viviparous -- able to bring forth live babies that have developed within the mother's body, instead of the mother laying eggs to develop outside her body.

Like other viviparous creatures, this species of roach nourishes its growing embryos with a protein-rich liquid secreted by its brood sac -- the roach version of a uterus.

Soon after the embryo ingests the liquid, protein crystals develop within its midgut. Chavas and his colleagues extracted one of these crystals to learn more about it and its potential nutrition. Following tests and even genome sequencing, they discovered it was a complete food.

"It is what one would need: protein, essential amino acids, lipids and sugars," Chavas said, explaining that the energy content is so high that it helps infants within this unique species grow much bigger than cockroach babies of other species.

Though the crystal formation may seem surprising, other crystals, including insulin, take shape within the body for easier bodily storage -- and it could have potential for human consumption, the research suggests.

So, how do you milk a cockroach?

The crystals are currently extracted from the midgut of cockroach embryos -- perhaps not the most efficient way of feeding a growing world population.

Ultimately, however, Chavas and his team are hoping to reverse bioengineer cockroach milk, but first they need to understand the exact biological and chemical mechanisms underlying the process.

"For now, we are trying to understand how to control this phenomena in a much easier way, to bring it to mass production," Chavas said.

Having lost a drinking game with his colleagues, Chavas tasted the cockroach milk once. "No particular taste," he commented, though the idea of ice cream appeals to him. He imagines "a flavor with honey and crispy pieces."

Laugh as you may, there is no irony lost on the fact that that this insect that can survive a nuclear disaster may someday provide the ultimate liquid superfood.

Nairaland / General / Final Year UNILAG Undergraduate Dies In Hostel by Jahelastic(m): 8:20am On Jul 12, 2016
A 500-level undergraduate of the University of Lagos, Odusami Matthew, has died after slumping at the Biobaku Hostel.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Matthew, a student at the Estate Management Department, was playing football with some of his friends on Friday when he slumped.

He was reportedly rushed to the school’s medical centre where he was confirmed dead on arrival.

Our correspondent was told that the remains of the student had been deposited at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba.

When our correspondent visited the hostel on Monday, one of the residents confirmed that the incident happened around 4pm.

He said, “He stayed in this hostel. Around 4pm, he decided to play football with some of his friends. He was not tackled neither was he with the ball when he collapsed.

“Nobody understood what went wrong with him. He was rushed to the medical centre, but he died on the way. It’s really a shock to us.”

A colleague of the victim, who spoke to our correspondent at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, said Matthew cried that his head was stiff before he died.

“Actually, he had stopped playing. He took time off to rest and sat on the sideline. Suddenly, he started crying that his head was stiff and he could not feel anything again. He slumped shortly after and died,” the colleague, who did not want to be named, said.

A man, who claimed to be Matthew’s close friend, said he spoke with him on Friday, adding that he never had any premonition that he would die suddenly.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the friend said, “He was a nice guy. He was also hard working. He had a strong second class upper grade. I still cannot believe he’s gone. I am grieving and don’t want to say more than that.”

However, the Deputy Registrar and Head of Information Unit, University of Lagos, Mr. Toyin Adebule, said Matthew was playing football at the university’s sports centre, where he slumped and was rushed to the medical centre.

He said, “A student was brought from the sports centre to the medical centre. When he got there, he did not have any sign of life. The director of health centre and other workers there tried to resuscitate him to no avail. He was dead.

“The dean of students’ affairs and other representatives of the school were there. We have reached the family and broken the news to them. Our prayers are with them that God will give them the fortitude to bear the loss.”

Actor and ex-husband of popular Yoruba actress, Toyin Aimakhu, Adeniyi Johnson has described reports that he is making moves to bring back his wife as a blatant lie.

He said that since the marriage broke up, he had not thought of going back, adding that it was Toyin who had been calling and pleading for reunion.

Niyi was speaking with Saturday Beats, where he waved off the reports that he had been reaching Toyin every time in order to see if they could make amends in their marriage.

He said, “This is a blatant lie! In fact, the reverse is even the case.

“I can’ t even remember the last time I spoke to her; it probably was sometime last year.

“I have never called her since this controversy started.

“But she has been the one calling me. I have a lot of evidence to prove this.”

Niyi, however, said that things will unfold in few weeks about their chances of coming together again as man and wife.

He added, “I would rather not talk about it. But I have to tell you that in a few weeks, things will unfold.‎”

Nairaland / General / Smoking Almost Killed Me – Yeni Kuti by Jahelastic(m): 11:19am On Jul 10, 2016
First daughter of late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Yeni, has revealed why she stopped smoking.

She said she only quit smoking three years ago so as to stay alive for her only daughter, Rolari.

Speaking with the Sun, Yeni said, “Before my daughter went into the university, I used to smoke and suffer chest pains. I was like ‘if I continue smoking I may die before my daughter graduates’.

“That was the inspiration I needed to stop smoking because for years, I had been telling myself that I would stop smoking on the first day of January, but by January 4 I was still smoking.

“But this time, I didn’t wait for January 3 or 4. I simply told myself that if I continued smoking, I would die and never see my daughter graduate. And that was just too important for me, so I just stopped. I have stopped smoking for three years. The fear of not being able to educate my child gave me that inspiration. I was like, who will educate this girl if I die?”

Continuing, she said, “I miss my daughter but we talk regularly. I can’t call her in her husband’s house the way I used to call her before.

“I am a very happy mother because my daughter is married and settled, and they both love each other,” Yeni added.

Nairaland / General / Parents Tackle Teacher For Flogging Pupil by Jahelastic(m): 4:04pm On Jul 09, 2016
A teacher of the Faith Academy, Gowon Estate, Lagos, has reportedly been charged to court after a pupil she flogged sustained serious injuries.

The tutor, identified simply as Mrs. Onakoya, reportedly flogged Michael Modupe, a JS3 pupil after a misdemeanour, leaving him with cane marks and serious injuries.

A source close to the family told our correspondent that the parents of the boy were shocked to see their son with his skin peeled off by cane.

“The boy was beaten ruthlessly because he went to the bathroom without the teacher’s permission.  He was beaten almost to a state of coma for not obtaining the permission of the teacher. He said he tried to explain but she flogged him mercilessly.

The beating was so severe that he had to be taken to a hospital for checks. The parents have commenced legal action against the teacher to serve  as a deterrent because we know that she could not have flogged her own child like that,’’ she said.

Meanwhile, the Principal, Mr. Ishola Ayoade, has denied knowledge of the suit. While admitting that the incident happened, Ayoade said the school had written a letter to the parents to resolve the matter.

“When you are a soldier, you should not be surprised to hear the sounds of gunshots. There are peculiarities of running a school and the teacher involved has been sanctioned.  We are not aware that the teacher has been sued. The school has written the parents and the sanctions given to the teacher was communicated to them.

“As a mission school, discipline cannot be compromised but there are procedures to follow.  We do not condone indiscipline from both teachers and pupils. There are times that pupils will anger you so much that you will misbehave if you are not careful. The teacher has been sanctioned but it is an internal matter such that the details cannot be discussed with you,’’ he said.

Nairaland / General / Couple Torture Toddler To Death For Rejecting Breakfast by Jahelastic(m): 1:00pm On Jul 05, 2016
A Singaporean mother who tortured her two-year-old son to death for not eating his breakfast and disobeying her was jailed along with her boyfriend on Tuesday for what the court described as the couple’s “senseless brutality”.

District Judge Bala Reddy cited the “ruthless and unrelenting” violence in the case and the couple’s lack of remorse before handing down an 11-year term for 41-year-old mother Zaidah, who goes by one name.

Her boyfriend, Zaini Jamari, 46, was jailed for 10 years and sentenced to 12 lashes of the cane.

The court heard how over a five-week period last year, the couple punished the boy by making him stand for hours wearing only a nappy, kicking and slapping him whenever he got tired.

“For more than a month, the two of you in a ruthless and unrelenting manner inflicted severe torture on your two-year-old child who was unable to retaliate or defend himself,” Reddy said.

Nairaland / General / Rio Olympics: Brazil To Distribute 9 Million Condoms by Jahelastic(m): 12:39pm On Jul 05, 2016
Brazil’s government will hand out nine million condoms for free around Rio de Janeiro during the Olympics in August, a push meant to encourage safe sex and also defend the Amazon rainforest.

Rio’s local Olympic organising committee said about 450,000 of the sustainably-produced condoms would be destined for athletes and staff housed in the Olympic Village.

The rest will be made widely available to the many visitors who will be arriving in the city in just a few weeks, the Health Ministry said.

All the condoms to be distributed are produced by Natex, a factory in the western Amazonian state of Acre, deep in the rainforest near Brazil’s border with Bolivia.

The factory, run by the Acre state government, uses latex gathered from Amazon rubber trees by tappers who are employed by a government-run program designed to protect their traditional livelihood, foster sustainable use of the rainforest and deter illegal loggers.

The tappers see themselves as guardians of the rainforest.

On a recent outing, Raimundo Mendes de Barros, a 71-year-old lifelong rubber tapper with a stark white beard, gathered the milky-white latex dripping into metal buckets hooked at the base of countless trees. Above, the tropical sun was filtered by the Amazon canopy.

Barros spoke with pride about the fierce fight he and other sustainable rubber tappers wage to maintain their craft.

“Our condom factory, aside from guaranteeing a fair price for the rubber, employs hundreds,” he said.

“It gives the world a product – the condom – that will be very present there in Rio, to fight disease and help with birth control.”

For decades, tappers like Barros have been on the front line of pushing Brazilian leaders to do more to halt deforestation, which is mostly caused by the illegal clearing of forest for ranching, soy farms and timber extraction.

The fight has sometimes come at a heavy cost as farmers and loggers have sometimes retaliated with hired guns. Scores of people have been killed over the years trying to protect the forest, most notably the internationally known environmentalist and rubber tapper Chico Mendes.

His 1988 murder in Xapuri, where the condom factory now stands, helped galvanise the government to take serious measures to battle deforestation and the violence against Amazon defenders.

For several years Brazil’s Health Ministry has distributed millions of condoms from the factory for free at big events around Brazil – most notably the annual bacchanal of Carnival.

Popular Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw, who last week called out comedian Akpororo for using her name and image to promote his show without seeking her approval, said she has forgiven him.

Henshaw had put up a post through social media issuing the comedian 48 hours ultimatum to apologise and withdraw her name and image from all his publicity materials.

Akpororo responded immediately with a public apology to the actress on the social media.

He wrote, “Good evening ma, before anything else I just want to say I am very sorry ma for the misunderstanding.

“I am so sorry for not following up after our last conversation about my show when you were out of the country the other day.

“I will never disrespect you or even take you for granted for any reason, I respect you so much ma, please pardon me ma. Thanks and God bless you ma.”

Speaking to Sunday Scoop through her manager, Funke Kuti, Henshaw disclosed she has forgiven the Delta-born comedian and will attend his show.

“The apology has been accepted. It was a misunderstanding. She has forgiven him. She will be at the show”, Funke Kuti said.

Business / BREAKING: CBN Takes Over Skye Bank by Jahelastic(m): 10:43pm On Jul 04, 2016
The Central Bank of Nigeria has taken over the Board and management of Skye Bank Plc after the lender failed to meet the regulator’s minimum key liquidity and capital adequacy ratios.

The Central Bank Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, disclosed this at a news conference, which was held at the CBN’s head office in Lagos.

Emefiele said the apex bank had appointed a new board and management for the bank following the resignation of the Chairman, Chief Tunde Ayeni, and Management Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Timothy Oguntayo.

He said the bank’s outgoing board and management had consistently failed to turn the fortunes of the bank around despite consistent warnings from the CBN.

In place of the outgoing board and management, Emefiele said the CBN had appointed Alhaji MK Ahmad as the new chairman, while Mr. Tokunbo Abiru is the new MD/CEO.

The governor also said the CBN had removed and replaced all the non-executive directors and two longest-serving directors of Skye Bank.

The CBN boss urged shareholders and customers of the bank to remain calm, stressing that the bank was not in distress.

“I maintain that Skye Bank is not in distress. We have only taken this unavoidable decision to ensure that depositors’ funds are not eroded,” he said.
