Politics / Re: Is Lamido Sanusi (CBN Governor) Pursuing A Hidden Agenda? by jaho: 5:08pm On Aug 17, 2009
Nigerians are fond of discrediting the good intention of reformists like Lamido Sanusi. The action taken by the CBN governor is based on available facts. The banks are mere shadows.
Politics / Re: Tinubu And Fashola At Loggerheads ! by jaho: 6:51pm On Aug 09, 2009
I for one want to wholeheartedly believe that it is a rumour. Both men are fine gentle who can sort out whatever difference they have amicably. As we all quite know, it is human to disagree but it is more sensible to reconcile.

Let me use this opportunity to inform these two human blessing to Nigeria that they should prove this rumour wrong, as we who are the progressives and reformist would be most disappointed if they happen to depart at this point of national rebirth.

May their friendship continue to flourish.

Politics / Re: Nuhu Ribadu: Nigeria’s Next Obama? by jaho: 12:45pm On Aug 07, 2009
At a time like this when Nigeria seems to be at a crossroad without any slightest hope that he government of the day can deliver its promises (considering the directionlessness of the Yaradua administration), he mention of names like Mallam Nuhu Ribadu evoke confidence in us that at least their are still some Nigerians whose image can dampen the negative effect of the present government's activities on the global scene.

Mallam Nuhu Ribadu will win an election in Nigerian any day provided the election are allowed to go free and fair.

He is a man of action who can instill the much expected change in Nigeria polity.

I hope to see him serve in another capacity, notwithstanding his current travails.

Education / Re: ASUU Strike, Your Views And Objections by jaho: 5:57pm On Aug 05, 2009
That the strike action embark upon by ASUU is still on is a great embarrassment to this country, mostly when viewed from the fact that the government actually reached an agreement with ASUU on to fail in implementing same.

In my opinion, ASUU should continue with the strike until the government yield to its demand. How can government take people of ASUU's calibre for granted. Come to think of it, how can government constitute a committee with the likes of Gamaliel Onosede as head and the same government will take a u-turn when it comes to its implementation. In fact government should be thought a lesson even if only for once.

I strongly support ASUU argument that a professor should receive the same salary with a senator.

Nairaland / General / Re: Is Nigerian Police Your Friend? by jaho: 6:16pm On Aug 02, 2009
THE NIGERIAN POLICE FORCE IS AN EMBARRASSMENT TO THE NATION. THE SCENARIO DESCRIBED IS TRUE TO THEIR TYPE.

I AM VERY SURE THAT THIS WILL END ONE DAY, BUT NIGERIANS MUST MAKE IT HAPPEN, THROUGH A PEACEFUL REVOLUTION LIKE WHAT HAPPENED AT BABCOCK.

Nairaland / General / Re: Is Nigerian Police Your Friend? by jaho: 5:57pm On Aug 02, 2009
One institution that has brought untold shame to our Nigeria is The Nigeria Police Force. It is a body in dire vneed of re-branding (including its uniform, modse of intake, road blocking etc).

That they were able to carry out such a shameful act against their fellow country men is not a surprise. As per the question whether the police is my friend, my answer is NO! They are not.

Infact, the primary concern of every police man is to extort money from the people (whom they are suppose to protect).

A chnge in their mode of operation is long overdue.

Politics / Re: 1960: Were We Ready For Independence? by jaho: 9:50am On Jul 28, 2009
It is suicidal to live in the past, and simply saying that Nigeria was not ready for independence amounts to living in the past.

As a matter of fact I would prefer a Nigeria built by Nigerians that a Nigeria built for Nigerians
Business / Re: How Do I Get A Loan Without Collateral? by jaho: 9:11am On Jul 28, 2009
It is possible to get a loan without a collateral, but you have to do a lot of home work which include a highly marketable business plan and a good relationship with the lending bank.

Though I don't have the details at the moment but I would never join those that says 'it is not possible' because I am a possibilitist.

Politics / Re: Imo Governor Deflets To Pdp by jaho: 1:03pm On Jul 27, 2009
Governor Ohakim's defection is an open admission of his un-popular nature. He is only telling us that he cannot climb without PDP. It is a shame. Even the PDP top notch that graced the occasion are also shameless most especially the president. They have thrown morality to the wind but they will surely account for their untruthfulness.

Politics / Re: Nigeria's Oil Revenue Cut By Half In The Ist Quarter by jaho: 11:04am On Jul 27, 2009
That income from oil revenue is on the decline is no longer news, we all no the reason behind this downward trend, but I am surprised that government is still pretending as if it is on top of the situation. To be frank the government has lost the battle to cow the militants.

From all indication, MEND is out for a total war and government seems not to appreciate this. Not until the government address the issue of marginalisation and equitable distribution of resources (which are the core issues at stake as stated by MEND in particular and the Niger Delta in general), oil revenue will continue to take a nosedive.

Amnesty or not truth must prevail
Politics / Re: Onovo Assures Of Crime-free Society by jaho: 9:14am On Jul 26, 2009
Although, I don't know the newly appointed Acting Inspector General of Police, Ogbonna Okechukwu Onovo, but something interest in this man. For those who have forgotten, this is the second time Onovo is acting as Inspector General of Police (having acted for one day when Sunday Ehindero left office until Mike Okiro was appointed Inspector General).

So, what is it that interests me? From all indication, he must me a patience, focussed and highly tolerant personality. Otherwise, he would have left the Police force due to arrogance when he almost got the mantle of leadership but missed it by the whisker only for the mantle to be giving to an officer whom it is rumoured Onovo is senior to (I stand to be corrceted here).

With that singular dislpay of sportmanship and tolerance Onovo deserves the respect and co-operation of not just the Police Force but that of Nigerians as well. I am sure he will succeed. In order for Onovo to succeed (not in the contest of amassing wealth as seen in the case of Sunday Ehindero) he should lay his hands on the speech delivered by Barrack Obama in Ghana. It can serve as a blue print.

Just few quotes from the speech:

"No country is going to create wealth is its leaders exploit the economy to enrich themselves"

"No business(man) wants to invest in a place where the government skims 20% off the top or the head of the Port Authority is corrupt"

"No person wants to live in a society where the rule of law gives way to rule of brutality and bribery"

"Governments that respect the will of the people, that govern by consent and not by coercion, are more prosperous, more stable and more
successful than governments that do not"

I wish Mr. Ognonna Okechukwu Onovo the best in his acting capacity and his eventual confirmation. Younger Nigerians have a lot to learn from your personality.

Politics / Re: SS Governors Threaten To Pull Out Of Amnesty Deal by jaho: 8:36am On Jul 26, 2009
The threat from the South-South governors to pull out of the amnesty deal is a welcome development. In fact their earlier support for the amnesty package was misinformed and premature, because the conceptual framework of the amnesty package was erroneous and as such doomed to fail.

In my opinion, the amnesty deal was hurriedly packaged by Yar'adua and his selfish cronies when they discovered that the 'oil war' declared by them in the Niger-Delta region is far from being won.

If the government is sincere why not start from the the Mitee led Technical Committee on the Niger-Delta report. Whether, the federal government like it or not, I must let them know that the are already losing the war which they declared by the invasion of Gbaramatu Kingdom.

Is it still news that oil production has plummeted from 2.2mbpd to less than 1.3mbpd. Is this a sign of victory on the part of government?

Thank God our governors have come back to their senses. cool. www.internetbusinessdon..com
