Just give us the update when you finally fixed it bro and don't be discouraged, things will soon get better as for those saying he should sell his car and buy a new one, did you think it is that easy? If you have things going well for you, keep it to yourself if you can't help and leave the OP alone, let's stop making mockery of everything, let's learn to encourage others with our words. Peace

I agree with you that it is not a rossy business but even the white collar job isn't too. You get to face insults, threat at work and even spend unplanned expenses all in the name of trying to get to work early enough. Some even had it terrible by facing dismissal when they never saw it coming. No job is rossy, it comes with its own challenges too.

Well said nothing good comes easy, the OP should be consistent, careful with spending and don't judge his own success by others, some may make it in 6 months, some 1 year, some 2 years and it may take others more time to make it, may God continue to guide and protect we transporters because we face so many hazard on daily basis.

Did you read my comment at all before typing? If you read it, you will see that what you just typed as it relates to imaginary figures does not hold water.

So, we are both clear on this. When I did the calculations on that very day while in the guys vehicle, I was tempted to ask him and he opened up on this. So, this is not an imaginary figure but something real. Maybe you are moving through routes where all you make is N50 per passenger per trip. Please, I know what I typed and I stand by it.

Having a good vehicle (even if it is a second hand) makes the difference and I am aware that maintenance cost is to be considered. If this is done routinely and you don't wait till the vehicle breaks down completely, you will enjoy your vehicle better. Naija mentality is to over use the vehicle before simple oil is replaced. Then, we come up with stories of not making money.

Asides the car transport business, I know a man who engaged in bus transport business and within two years, he bought a land and built a beautiful house on it. While building his house, his only child gained admission to a private University and he paid for her expenses till he graduated. All these he did through the business alone. This man I know personally and the man is still sane as he was when he started the business.

Getting it right from the start matters a lot. So, please I stand by everything I typed.

Bro you are getting me wrong, I didn't say there is know money in transportation but I am into the field, I know what men chuck themselves into when it comes to transportation, a man will only tell you what he wants you to know and see him as a good person, but will not tell you the dirty part, I agree that early maintenance help strengthen the vehicle and prevent unnecessary breakdown, but transport is not as rossy in real life as it sound on paper. Peace

Can you please stop this? I know what I typed and even went further by asking the transporter. So, please if you are having issues with yours then find out what went wrong.

Besides, read my post again before you mention me and type these.

There is money in transport business and I stand by it. If you have a good vehicle, maintenance should not cost you so much that you will want to stop the business. Except you don't routinely carry out maintenance works on your vehicle and wait till it breaks down before doing anything.

To even go further on this, a bus owner (not car this time around) bought a land and built a house through transport business and also, sent his child to a private University all through this transport business and nothing else. This, he told me himself too and the property thing he achieved this within the space of 2 years doing the business while also paying for his daughter school fees.

There is serious money in transportation as long as you get it right.

I will not argue with you but all you are saying is hear say, a bus owner within a space of 2 years built a house and send his child to a private university? That's what he told you right? Did you know other things he is involved in that he may not want to tell you? Like I say it is easier to cook vegetable soup with mouth than reality, but I am surprise you are not into transportation since you have successful people doing it around you. Peace

Not a transporter but if you have ever owned a car and take a cursory look at the lives of those drivers you would understand how that job is an endless pit of money down the drain. 90% of mechanics out there know nothing coupled with fake parts, over aged cars and very terrible road networks. The card is stacked against you as a driver in such circumstances.

Most giving figures are arm chair analysts who have never ventured into a biz in real life. They think once you own a car and put into biz . You are set for a killing. Lol. They would learn the hard way.

You are right, I am a transporter myself, it is not easy as people paint it to be, Imagine all the high figures the arm chair analysts do give, if it is that easy then 60% of transporters should be swimming in money by now.

She maybe right. Yes there is money in the transportation business but you would lose so much in terms of good health, mental balance and strength that any money you make from driving would be spent on medical bills and stress induced fatigue.

Also what ever car you are buying would definitely be Nigerian used. For a less than 1 million naira car i am sure you would spend more days at the mechanic shop than driving the car. Have you factored in wear and tear?
State of Nigeria roads? Agbero and touts you would have to contend with? Also i am sure you would be buying a saloon car which can only ferry max 4 people. No matter the number of turns you make you cannot make ends meet from such as the car is not configured for mass transportation except you would be charging premium fees which is impossible given the circumstances. You can sit down and do the maths. Let's say you do runs around Surulere in Lagos. Max fare in Surulere is 100 naira per run. That's 400naira per trip. 100 naira would go to the Agbero. 100naira on fueling the car for such trip. You are left with N200. You would need to make 10 trips to make 2k which is impossible given the timing you intend to run it.

Guy better keep that money and sleep over things for months before making a decision on things. Else you would regret it. 1 million is like chicken change in this current Nigeria. 3months and you would be back to square one stuck with a rickety car, empty account balance and terribly fatigued body.

Your ex might be right in pushing you to use your brain as a graduate. Not everything is about she not wanting you to hustle. Hustle with sense.

I like your quote, it's either you are a transporter or you are close to someone in the system, I will keep saying it, there is money in transport business but if one is not careful maintenance will take back the whole money, people will be giving figures as if the OP will be the only driver on the road. If you are not into haulage to make good morning from cab these days, you have to huzzle well.

Your gf is a low thinking fellow. You don't need such in your life.

She has no idea what those transporters make per day.

A man who owns a Sienna vehicle makes N10,000 per day based on the fact that he works with a company. So, when he goes to work in the morning, he carries passengers and when returning home. Based on the N810,000 he makes per day, he will make at least N200,000 per month (assuming 20 working days per month). Some people's salaries are not up to this.

Now, imagine if this man does this full time. That gf of yours has no thought and never a business minded fellow.

Please stop giving imaginary figures, I am a transporter and I know what it takes to make it through transport, I own the car myself so don't even think I deliver to anyone, fine there is money in transportation but not as you are painting it to be, if you don't know your game well, car maintenance will drain you to zero.

Making 8k per day is not bad et all. Most white collar job salary earners don't earn up to half of it per day if you divide the monthly salary by 30days

Cele to mile2 is 100 naira and people will drop before ijesha.

I can't argue with you

If that is how transportation works then 60% of drivers will be millionaire, as if 10 trip is easy, you will have to queue at times, because you are not the only driver plying that route and again for the 10 trip the car will run on water right? You won't pay for ticket, no holdup and so on. It will surprise you that after deducting everything you might be left with 8k and e know dey come like that everyday.

From my experience, I think the Suzuki bus should be better. With due maintenance, it seldom gives fault.

When I was plying iyana ipaja to ayobo, from 6am to 8pm (including resting for one hour), I make about 7-8k excluding agbero and ticket fee. You can easily save 3k or moreeveryday depending on your strength ( that's after feeding, fuel and miscellaneous expenses).

I don't know the amount a tokunbo is sold for now, but when my oga bought it for my friend then it was around 750k

Well done bro, you are a real driver, not people who claim to be making 100% ROI within four months, now to the OP transportation is sweet and come with its own stress, I am a cab driver in Ibadan, you make profit someday and make looses too. If you can huzzle well you should be able to save from 2k-4k daily or more sometimes, Monday to Saturday, but be rest assured that you will face, VIO, Police, FRSC even with complete papers. Sometimes rain will scatter work, you will be too weak to work at times and so on, but in all transportation is sweet if you own the car. And the more you use your car the more it wear and tear. Though am planning of switching to haulage, get a cabstar to convey market women from the market or farm produce, it's stressful but the money come in once, unlike the 50 naira to 300 naira per passenger after shouting at the top of your voice.

Uber is like part time job and must be night clawer to see more gain. It is either you get lucky or unlucky plus the whole recession coming into play.

[s]All people take uber to parties, club, church.[/s]

Within 4months if dedicated on your mini bus, you will get your 100% ROI

Uber takes aleast 9-18months 100%ROI

Note.. You are getting a toks min bus for 800K at most

2003 Toyota corrolla toks starts from 1.6 -2.2 for toks at most.

my 2cent advice, If you are not shy! Go for the mini bus plus you can spend your gain on the polutry business as you german german join your mini bus!

4 months 100% ROI then transportion must be very sweet and profitable in Lagos oooo

Don’t make the same mistake that I made .
I bought a mini bus sometime ago n in less than a year was able to raise about 1. 5 million to buy a Toyota Corolla for uber.
This was a mistake I ended up regretting cos the Corolla I bought almost twice the mini bus made a weekly delivery of 35 k where as ,the min bus paid me 30 k weekly
If I had bought 2 mini buses with that money my weekly returns would have been 60k as against the 35k the Uber guy was delivering. So guy u better invest that money on a minibus n continue to multiply it until you have made enough money to acquire a Toyota Corolla while still having your minibuses running. The corolla would then just be there for convenience.
My point is if what you want is to make money... go for the mini bus.
In terms of stress ,they are both stressful .

You must be very hard working to have made 1.5 million from a mini bus within a year, going on tour with bus self don't give that much in a year at times, due to maintenance and other unforseen spending.

I din't answer your question because it was a redundant question.

The state already collects fees all over the place from transportation workers so what are you talking about? The also need their union fees after collecting all manner of registration and permit fees from them?

What is their business with NURTW and the fees they collect from their members?

Is Oyo state government now a fees collecting trade union?

They have NURTW branches all over Nigeria so I just wonder why many of you are losing sleep over Oyo state and not advocating for Abia Zamfara, Enugu, Alwa Ibom, Edo, Kwara and so on to also proscribe NURTW?

Some moves and polices are just dumb, just like Makinde, he's truly very dumb

After this I won't reply your mentions again for now Seyi is the one in charge and he has his say. Maybe when he finishes his tenure and another government comes on board he might allow them to be collecting dues again. If you must know virtually everyone driving pay for registration to NURTW so what other due did they want aside registration fee Know more free money, driving is not easy we can't be risking our lives on the road only for some people to be enjoying it all in the name of Union. Let the government collect the money and build better social amenities with it.

I don't feel like wasting my breath on your kind, Makinde is very naive and immature, but he's not suicidal, he'll back down and make the necessary adjustments in favor of NURTW because he can not sustain any kind long term friction with NURTW, it's just a matter of time.

Makinde is a learner.

Well let's wait and see since you are deviating and avoiding the questions I ask, for now Seyi needs the money and if he fails to account for it then we petition him. Gone are the days when driving profession is seeing as touts work, we graduates are coming in and we demand accountability for every penny we pay as due.

Mr sense that knows all tell me the union that collect dues everyday aside NURTW. If you think it's easy why not resign from your current job and start driving cab so that you will be paying the dues with your self aclaim sense. Did you know how much we pay for tickets daily, we pay at virtually every bus top and whenever there is Police, VIO or Road safety wahala we are left alone by the so called unions that you want us to be paying. For now seyi needs the money to do better things in Oyo State so know more free money, if you want free money buy a car and give it out on hire purchase or better still, drive your car yourself. And who says the union has not been meeting the welfare of its members from those dues collected? If you aren't a union member you can't boldly imply all you said above.
Ask yourself why the drivers pay for those tickets? Like I said all unions have a way of levying it's members. The drivers only complain of money collected by the touts at different bus stops which are illegal and are extortions. such money cannot be collected by government. Like I said earlier it's corruption that made government not realise enough money from parks NOT NURTW. with the advent of park managers the government will only able to collect all that should go to it and not union dues as they have been proscribed.

If you must know I am a registered member of the said union in Ibadan, and I do drive my car myself, since you seem to know how they operate kindly tell me how the Union has been meeting the welfare of we members, did you know how much we use to pay daily before the proscription?

There so much misconception about the revenue at the motor parks and how it's generated.
Inside approved standard motor parks the local government generates revenue, the state government gets its own while the transport union(s) also collect.
Because of corruption, little of what is supposed to go the governments get there but the NURTW gets most of its revenue intact which makes it earn most from motor parks...What NURTW is doing in parks is what tailor association or barber associations do, the only difference being some NURTW tickets are daily, mostly for the unit a driver belongs.
Some of these tickets are daily, weekly, monthly or annually

Why my epistle, the only thing that will be different when park managers begin to manage the parks is that the government will make more money as the corruption loopholes would have been blocked. The government CANNOT collect union dues......... All those millions unions collect daily are actually union money NOT state government revenue

Union collect the money to do what exactly? To borrow drivers in the case of theft, accident or financial crisis Or for the Union leaders to sit somewhere doing nothing then expecting return to flex with in the evening?? Did you know how hard it is to be a commercial driver?? The money spend for putting d vehicle up and running. Only for someone who has never in anyway helped me when I was looking for money to buy my car or repair my car live and feed fat on my money. My brother let the state government collect it and use it to develop the state, afterall NURTW is not the one fixing bad roads.

Jay7 you are wonderful. Feed formulas are so greedily hidden, not wanting to share or some charge a huge amount before giving, yet here you are giving out one of the most sort formula (finisher). Because this the stage at which broilers feed more. And for the fact that feed constitute about 70% of the cost of raising broilers, this is a huge savings you are giving to farmers.

Though this topic was in 2016 but the prices may be a little be different currently, not withstanding one can make a bag of 25kg at about N3,000 as against market price of N3,600 over here in Kaduna. A saving of N600 per bag is huge. Imagine if on is to buy a ton of feed (40 bags) saving on feed alone will be N24,000 which is fantastic.

For a farmer that is into 1000 broilers may use a total of 150 bags, (savings in feed will be about N60,000). This very pleasing and encouraging.
Once more thanks for sharing Jay7.
