tank God u know putting it in an acct is nt a gud idea in ds period.so pls enlighten me.more n hw to go abt ds issue cus i truly have saving problem
You are right putting it in your account is a no go area because need will arise and you will spend it, but like I said earlier you can set a target for yourself let say you want to open a barbing saloon for someone to be giving you a certain amount every month you can start with the estimate of what you need then you will be buying it gradually till you finish buying the materials needed for the business doing so will keep the money out of your account or you can do a feasibility studies and see what is cheap now in your environment which might shoot up in price in two to three months, you can buy an store them then you resell later, mind you buy items that cannot spoil easily. the above epistle is just an analysis you know what you want just set a target and savings become easy.

If transportation is not the one draining your money then you need to work on your savings, set a saving target for yourself and have a purpose for saving, let say you want to buy a bag of soyabean at the rate of 25,000 naira and resell later all you have to do is deprive yourself of somethings, you can buy half bag this month then half bag next month, because it's hard at times to save money in one's account without spending but buying and reselling of most agricultural products has been helping me save my money.
Education / Breaking:ASUU Strike: Lecturers Reach Agreement With Nigerian Government by jay7(m): 7:38am On Sep 08, 2017
BREAKING:ASUU Strike: Lecturers reach agreement with Nigerian govt

ASUU Strike: Lecturers meet Nigerian govt delegation
The striking university lecturers, ASUU, have agreed to consider the federal government’s offer and suspend their strike.

The agreement comes after 12 hours, 30 minutes of a closed door meeting between ASUU and a government delegation in Abuja.

The leadership of ASUU, however, said though it accepted the proposal presented by the government, it will take the proposal to its members and get back to the government in a week.

Biodun Ogunyemi, the national president of ASUU, told journalists after the meeting that the union will come back after one week to take its final decisions.

“Now we have some concrete proposal that we will take back to our members for consideration,” he said.

On his part, the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, said ASUU’s demands have been addressed and the union will get back to the government in a week after consulting with its principals.

The meeting started 1:38pm on Thursday and ended 2:15 a.m. on Friday.

Details later…

my bro,..days wot am talking about,..does one really hsv a choice?

shd I cut d cost s by buying substandard tyres? 2 front tyres alone cost me 56k.
trust me,its not all costs u can cut. generating sets at hometown cost abt25k to repair,..coupled wit daily fuelling with abt 2k worth of fuel

You don't buy tire every month and moreover one has to cut his/her cloth according to the available material, a man using Golf 3 with A.C in good condition and a man using Camry Muzzle with A.C in good condition will spend differently on maintenance, what i have promise myself is that I will not buy things I don't need now just because my friends are buying it because what works for Taiwo might not Work for Kenny. And there is a saying that if you buy what you don't need now you will sell it to buy what you need later.

Here is my views on Wealth.
1. No amount of money may ever be enough for you.
2. Every salary increase may increase your taste for a better life hence insatiability sets in.
3. To be contented, build your self esteem
4. To be contented, don't compete with friends or colleagues.
5. Only money can solve money problems
6. Only a man who works for himself & God may be satisfied.
7. If you are on a paid job, don't plan to retire on paid jobs.
8. Savings may not be the solution.
9. Wealth creation is the solution
10. Hence, Invest more than savings but not MMM
11. If u save, save to invest, not saving to spend on commodity.
12. Investment can be as little as 10,000
13. Get Ideas, get knowledge, find time.
14. If your rent/year is more that your 1month salary, all your savings in 12months may only be able to pay rent for the next year. Do the maths
15. If you are married, be open to her with your finance, financial goals & plans, get her to key in.

Waoh nice post "investment can be as little as 10,000" many people want to start with thousands before investing into something, I started mine back then with less than 50,000 and today it's feltching me more than the startup capital, just dedicate your time to what you believe in, pray and be good to people around you especially your workers, before i round up my post i know of a pop corn seller here on campus who buy and resell and he is making a living from it, start somewhere, save the little you earn to start your dream business.

I had to pay for her to start at a new place and now all I hear is that she would be signing up for another male garment training when the current one elapses. She has done childcare before so I rallied resources to start us a daycare center with a shop in my care, the very next weekend she came back and told me a narration of her prophetess seeing a vision that she can't start a daycare because of Aye. Thanks for your concern sir, I just needed to unload somewhere!

You're not missing any necessity. As a matter of fact, it's possible to live well below that #204k in many parts of the country. Even with a family of 3, #120k is good enough in many places in SW Nigeria, except Lagos.
I know a lot of families with educated, prudent and lovely couples who, though not satisfied with their current condition, are living a 'good' life with love.
Prudence is the key. Even with a million naira monthly income, you may still live like a pauper if you're living above your means.

Your response is short and catchy there are things you don't pretend to be when your income is still struggling, like the subscription he mentioned why pay 10,000 on subscription when we have dstv 1800 subscription a month which have basic channels, feeding is something you eat when you are hungry if not for the hike in foodstuffs a family of 3 cannot eat/finsh a half bag of rice in 2 months and half bag is around 8500 to 9500. all am saying is one should not try to play i gats to belong when you are still struggling to grow, I am not from a wealthy home neither am i from a poor background but i have friends who are struggling with life serving along side with them really thought me so many things about life.

Salaries? In January 2017, I hustled money to arrange drivers license so as to earn something higher than 15k a month, with a not working, live in baby mama in tow. In March, my wish was granted I got a 40k driver job in a location close to home. I work late, I work Monday to Saturday, I am depressed, from my larger than previous salary I can't buy myself a shirt, I still dress in my rags to work. Salaries are the reward in a permanent rat race, only those who break out of the box end up well.

Well-done but your so called baby mama should not just sit idle doing nothing, if she is a graduate she can look for a teaching Job no Matter small she earn she will have something to support you with at the end of the month.

Here's my take on it : How much minimum would you need live ideally?

I'm using the dollar as my reference, so:

Before inflation : $1 = 160 Naira
Now : $1 - 360 Naira (225% Increase)

Therefore, to get the same value of 100k before inflation time in present day, you would need to be earning 225,000

Assuming you're putting aside money for rent monthly (lets say 800k divided by 12 months), 66,000

Feeding expenses are usually anywhere from a quarter of your income to half. Choosing half of 225,000: 112,500

Transport? Assuming 30% of 225,000 : 67,000

Adding all of this, we have a total ideal of N470,500

Now, Ask yourself, what level/position within your company would you need to be to be earning that?

While you're asking yourself, lets convert this to dollars at N360 per dollar. That's $1306 a month.

If you check salary benchmarking sites in others countries you may find out what they earn monthly is way above that.

Example :

Nigerian Salary for Front web developer (approx) : 60k ~ 240k ~ higher which in US dollars is $166 ~ $240 per month
Arabian Salary for Front web developer (approx), the amount in US Dollars is $1000 to $2000

Conclusion

If you take the lowest amount in an arabian country ($1000), and convert to naira, you'll see its barely enough to sustain you based on our ideal income

We live in a country where we need to almost out-earn international counterparts to put body and soul together, but our economy can't afford to pay us our worth.

At times I wonder how people reason, must everyone in life be rich as Dangote or Otedola before they can claim to be ok, I read from your post that house rent = 800,000 is it a must he rent an apartment as high as that? I have a friend staying at Maraba/Yanya Abuja and he is not paying upto 130,000 for his 2 bedroom apartment and moreover most people that work in Abuja stay/reside in the said area. What matters in life is planning and contentment, we can not all go to private schools and Infact there are still private schools that pay less than 50,000 per term and remember we have 3 term in a year which the Op one month salary can handle and if he is staying in a house not more than 150,000 per year he is left with 10 months salary plus his side business to plan, eat, save and do other things.

Technology Market / Re: A Generator That Will Power A Photocopy Machine by jay7(m): 8:45am On Aug 18, 2017
oblo:
Just saying "a big photocopy machine" is vague. What we should be looking at is how much power the copier uses to start and run.

Take a look at the back of the machine and there would be a tag with power ratings. Same goes for the desktop computer. The total power consumption can then be used to get the appropriate generator that can power the gadgets .

It's also a a good idea and best practice to get a generator that will have some extra power to spare as well after the basic power required.

Note that more modern copiers require less power to start and run than some older copiers. All these and more have to be considered also in your acquisition of a copier.

My tucent. grin

Thanks I really appreciate ur candid advice it's actually 220-240 volt and 50-60 HZ

Actually it's not the % of nutrient that matters. It's the % of digestible nutrients that counts. 24% crude protein in feed doesn't necessarily mean that it's all digestible. it could only contain as little as 10%-15% digestible crude protein.

I understand you but both matters
Agriculture / Re: My Poultry Feed Formulation Experiment On Broilers. by jay7(m): 4:09pm On Jul 27, 2017

Family / Re: How Much Income Is Reasonable Before Marriage? by jay7(m): 3:12am On Jul 23, 2017
iamrealdeji:
my guy,my married neighbour sleeps on the mat at the corridor whenever his wife's relatives are around,he vacates the one room he lives with his wife for them. I once sent this guy to fill my gas cooker for me and he stole part of my money and threw the receipt in a tyre for me not to know the actual amount just to feed his family, you should see how this guy complains bitterly whenever he wants to buy their baby's pampers. no rest of mind for him because he borrows money to take care of his family at times if there is no money, and yet, other older married men usually say he has not seen anything yet that it would get to a time he would feel like he's just fetching water into a basket and feel like running away when they have their second child and children start school and all.
A caretaker that rented my shop to me advised me not to rush into marriage. he said he rushed into marriage and now he's in his 40's,he is struggling so hard, sold his car for him to pay his children's school fees when they entered higher institution and upkeep, one child even had to wait for another . he said the reason he's so backward is because he rushed into marriage. his salary is not bad but raising family in Nigeria requires preparing well before marriage. there is nothing like favour coming after marriage o,its pure lie and African formulated fallacy. most marriages I've seen are not like that at all, only few men become successful after marriage and its because they're on the way to success even before marriage or just lucky. married men that didnt prepare well before marriage are the ones that are feeling this recession most,I do pity them. lots of married men that didn't prepare well always do soughts of illegal stuffs even after salaries just to take care of family, send them to buy you something, they would always try to steal part of your money and tell you the wrong price, many of them have done that to me

From your write-up you said something about preparation, I will like to say something about that, there is a popular saying that failure to plan is planning to fail, if you want to succeed make a plan and be deligent with what you are doing, work with the right people and you will be surprise at how fast you will be successful, know matter how local your environment is there are people who are making it real big legally there, why not study them and take a clue from what they are doing, like I always say been a graduate is not a guarantee that one will be successful because we overate certificate in this part of the world 80% of graduates want to work in a multi-national company forgetting that the said company started from the scratch by someone and again we graduates claim too big to do some menier jobs which gives high return because the said job will not make you look clean, take a look at the Northern part of the country life is a bit cheaper there compared to the other parts especially agricultural produce, there was a time a bag of onions is 2,500 naira where as the same bag sells for as high as 6000 to 10000 in Lagos and some other part of the country and the cost of transporting it to anywhere is not more than 1000 to 2000 naira, let's say you are making 1000 naira on a bag and you are able to sell 25 bags in a month as an wholesaler that is 25000 add that to your monthly income and you will see the difference, I am saying this not because I am better or because I am wise but most people will stop huzzling after marriage trying to measure up or compete with an already established man, my own take on the issue is marriage will not make you rich or poor what will make you rich or poor is your mentality and the ability to see opportunity wherever you find yourself but most importantly have a projected plan and a source of income before going into marriage.
