Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 7 by jazzy(f): 3:53pm On Mar 15, 2019
Congrats Ifeoma,

I was sooooo happy when i saw your announcement this morning.. May your journey to canny be smooth and easy and i pray that favor will always surround you.

In other news, i got my remark today... sadly scores remained unchanged LRSW- 8.5, 8.5, 8, 6.5. Hoping to either write the computer based on the 2nd of April or the Paper on the 6th. Till then we match on. Another thing that is bothering is the slowness of WES. It is almost a month my school responded to the verification and i m yet to get past "We received your document(s). We are reviewing your document(s)". i m hopeful that by the time my IELTS result comes back on the 19th of April (if Paper), they should have been done.

Well done guys and enjoy the weekend. XOXO

Hi guys, silent member here.
No question really, just wanted to thank everyone for their input on various topics here, quite insightful. IELTS is a humbling exam truly. I wrote the Academic version (which is supposed to be harder) in Dec 2017 for admissions to a PHD program and it was LRWS : 8.5,8,7.5, 8. Unfortunately i cant use this for immigration purposes. After deciding to pursue this route as Plan B, i wrote GT on the 14th of Feb 2019 and dear IELTS decided to bless me with LRWS: 8.5,8.5,6.5,8.5.

I was so disappointed honestly, because i was quite skeptical about the listening(which i eventually blewout of the park) and writing is my thing really, i do it for a living more or less. I ve decided to pursue EOR, while waiting for my ECA with Wes. I am truly hopeful that my scores will shift. I just want to get this sorted because with an updated writing score, my CRS moves to 462.

Meanwhile Wes is stressing me, my school has responded their verification mail since the 22nd and they have refused to update my status and inform me of my expected date of completion. I ve called them taya. They keep telling me to give them more time.

Oh well, does anyone know BC's timeline for EOR responses? i m hopefully it wouldnt be too long. XOXO

Travel / Re: U.S Visit: Port Of Entry Interview/stories. by jazzy(f): 2:26am On Aug 03, 2018
Hi Guys,

This is me just sharing my POE story, its been a while we had any.
I shared my Visa story in the USA Visa visit thread a while back. i was supposed to go on vacation in May but work took me to another country so, i had to push it till the end of July. I bought a return ticket through Etihad in May. After i bought the ticket, i was sorta regretting buying it because of the long transit time that came with that particular ticket and all the gist about the US preclearance at Abu Dhabi but in hindsight, it was one of the best decisions i'd made actually.

I left Lagos to Abu Dhabi, flight was about 7 hrs plus, landed around 8pm their time and i checked into my hotel (i got a UAE transit Visa before leaving Nigeria so i was able to enter AbuDhabi proper, i stayed at the Premier inn. After a quick breakfast and check out the next morning, i was on my way to terminal 3, gate 61. It was a long walk but good exercise i guess. After all the security checks ( almost at 3 different places), i joined the queue for the US preclearance. I had a Nigeria man right in front of me.

When it was my turn i stepped forward to an African American lady who was smiling with the previous guy she had just interviewed and my conversation with the CBP Officer went like this:

CBP: Good morning lav
Me: Good morning
CBP: Passport please
Me: (Hands over passport and boarding pass)
CBP: What is your purpose of travelling to the US?
Me: Its my annual Vacation,so holidays
CBP: How long will you be staying in the United States
Me: 24 days
CBP: And you have a return ticket
Me: Yes.
CBP: Whats the address you ll be staying at?
Me: (Told her)
CBP: And you l be staying with a friend? Boyfriend? Girlfriend?
Me: Just a friend. A male friend
CBP: From Nigeria
Me: Yes from Nigeria
CBP:Okay, Are you married?
Me: No
CBP: Tell me what do you do?
Me: I work as a Corporate Strategy Analyst at XXXXXX Bank in Nigeria
CBP: Any foodstuffs?
Me: Just dry food, Melon, Chili, Crayfish
CBP: (she repeats them after me), Okay. (Stamps Passport- 6 months). Alright See ya.
Me: Thanks, Bye.

I walked through and that was that, the boarding gate didnt open on time so we had to stay outside standing for a while before they let us in.
Boarded in good time and after a grueling 12 hours plus. We landed at a domestic wing of JFK (Terminal 4) No queues, no nothing. Just picked up my bags and waited for my friend.

Things arent as bad as people have been portraying them to be, at least i didnt see them drive anyone back. As always just be truthful and move on. Currently in NJ and loving it. 1st time here, definitely would be back.

XOXO

Travel / Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by jazzy(f): 3:40pm On May 23, 2018
So, i ve been following this thread since i got my visa approved in April, its funny how i never saw it pre- my interview but daily, i m drawn to just look through and read. let me share my transcript.

Rainy day, got there early, joined the long queue, all i could see was blue papers flying left right and centre, i was calm previously o, until i started observing people returning with their passports and the blue sheet. One particular lady with a shrilly voice wasnt approving any visas, i silently prayed i wouldn't be sent to her. Thankfully my prayers were answered, was sent to a queue with an African American. She took so much time with the lady in front of me and i cant remember if she gave her but i walked up when it was my turn and the following conversation happened.

VO: Good Morning, can i have your passport please.
Me: Good Morning, here it is
VO: What is your purpose for travelling to the United States
Me: i would like to spend my annual vacation on holiday, visiting a friend
VO: Why are your choosing to travel to the United States at this time?
Me: My host has about 15 days ish free and its my vacation period so what better time to travel
VO: (Typing viciously) where will you be staying during in the US
Me: Passaic, New Jersey
VO: What do you do for a living
ME: I work in a XXXX as a Corporate Strategy Analyst
VO: Have you made any trip outside the country before
Me: Yes - Twice to the United Kingdom and the DRC for work last year
VO: (Checks my UK visa with some funny pen that had a light) What did you go to do in the DRC
Me: i work as a Strategy analyst and we went to develop strategic plans for our international subsidiary there
VO: (Silence, continues to type for long) looks up, are you married
ME; No
VO: Engaged?
ME: No
VO: Do you have any kids?
ME: No
VO( continues typing), How long do you intend to stay in the US
ME: About 3 weeks my holidays are just 20 working days.
VO: looks up , picks the white paper and cycles the address to pick up Visa. Your Visa has been approved, please note the amount of time you are stamped in when you get to the POE, so you dont overstay. Have a good one
ME: thank you. have a good day also.

I walked away, entered the rest room, used it and left..
I was a bit nervous with the long silences but i just kept a pleasantly un-emotional face..

I m a bit concerned about this whole JFK business cos, i ve purchased my ticked to fly in through JFK and its even a tad more hectic cos Abu dhabi has a US pre-clearance centre but i m not worried sha. God's gat me.

Nice reading from everyone i guess and thank you for helping people to know more about this process.

i have bin pretty quiet abt bba but its getting on my nerves the max, lerato, kwaku n bertha clique, they are awful, lousy and an annoying bunch, i feel ofu s diary session yesterday when she said she had lost all respect for max because of his comments at dinner the previous day, what does he think he is untouchable, he is wasting time cus he s going, even if our ofu doesnt win the money , neither will those group of people, i was actually getting to like lerato when this thin broke out but now am extremely digustd, but its even worst with kwaku and bertha, just for the love of dat big bellied, fake american accent wannabe ghanian with a face as black as dudu osun, bertha is changing it only goes to confirm dat she s a viper, the one with fangs. no wonder she nominbated meryl, am glad dat one is out though . cheers AS FOR ME MAXWELL IS GOING OUT. I LL MAKE SURE OF DAT.
