nuel80: Completely agree. Meanwhile the government keeps coming up with new “immigration reforms” instead of fixing the horrible resident permit processes in the auslanderbehorde all over the country. In this age, refusing to digitalize the process or find a lasting solution is embarrassing. Imagine waiting 3 months for PR appointment? Ridiculous |

olig: As far as I know, No. Visa denials are normal (unless for fraudulent reasons). Nothing gets stamped on your passport when denied either. Of course the German embassy can see in their system but in this case, the reason would be clear. I hope your job status changes very soon. 1 Like |

olig: I think you should go through with the interview. Because they may put you straight to the end of the line again. In this case, perhaps they will carry out the lawyer verification first before ABH will make a final decision on your visa which would be some months time. That way, you either have a job and it goes through, or it’s denied but you won’t have to do the lawyer verification again. A friend’s wife had the interview when he was a student and she was denied but after lawyer verification and other things were confirmed. He was then given an option by the ABH if he wants to appeal or have the application on hold until he gets a job. |

I think you should receive the documents and confirm what’s contained (if we are speculating, it’s probably a rejection). However, even student’s spouses don’t get rejected for family reunion from Lagos, normally the determination has to get to the ABH in Germany before they reject. This seems too quick. If a key document was missing, this would have been pointed out to your spouse during the interview. You’ll need to see the content of that delivery to know how best to proceed. 4 Likes |

MrKcc: Yea. As soon as you get married, let her do the change of name and get the new passport carrying your surname before she heads for the interview with the necessary affidavits and newspaper publications. You’ll save plenty time. |

Deborah05: My spouse explained this verbally during her interview. We didn’t write a letter or anything like that. She presented evidence of her BSc and employment indicating she works 6 days a week. Every individual cases are of courses treated differently, so you never know until you try. 2 Likes |

Zluky: Yes, verification complete email from the embassy was immediately followed by the request for document from the ABH. I routinely sent a mail to the embassy via their contact form and also contacted my ABH to establish application status. I never received a response from the embassy but I like to assume it helped somehow. 1 Like |

FRV update… Application: July 2021 Interview: September 2022 Lawyer called and visited: February 2023 Request for document from ABH: March 2023 Visa approved by ABH and Embassy: April 2023 Visa delivered: May 2023 Most of the tiny details are similar to most experiences and timeline just a bit stretched while waiting for lawyer’s visit. Wishing everyone waiting for news all the best! 12 Likes |

StarryStarry: If you recently booked it (couple of days), better to cancel and rebook with your name as it’s in your passport. The embassy generally may have no issue but the man at the door may unfortunately not let you in at all. |

Mopricelezz: Re 1 - Testimonial is enough. It’s just confirmation that you did attended the school. The lawyer would check it out and that should be that. 2 - You should complete the form with the most recent secondary school you attended - so, the second one. When you attend the interview, if the question is asked then explain all you did up here. Same goes for the lawyer. He can confirm himself that the school indeed packed up. 2 Likes |

The only conclusion is simple: the entire process is set-up to frustrate applicants and their spouses as much as possible until they either give up or feel thankful upon visa approval. Unnecessary waiting time and nonchalant attitude everywhere. Embassy and ABH. 4 Likes |

Do the ABH always confirm approval to the spouse in Germany in all cases or they may just approve to Lagos and not inform the partner in Germany? Just wondering cos it seems some people get the ABH confirmation and some do not mention it. |

Babbbbbbbbby: That is a very long time to not have received any update. Has your spouse been contacted by the ABH? A friend of mine is also waiting for a lawyer and spouse interview was also in October, but he’s been contacted by ABH during the time. |

FrauPosh: Lol. I think most of us are in the waiting period. Either waiting for embassy, lawyer or ABH. It’s pretty tense and nervy. I had hoped my wife’s visa would be out by Easter and we would celebrate together but embassy get another idea. Hopefully the next few weeks would see further visa approvals 2 Likes |

pseudonomer: Nobody has ever refused that I know lol. Your options would be to either write the ABH/embassy and make a case for why this should be waived for you, or your partner enrolls in an intensive course to get the A1 cert. |

pseudonomer: Unless they have decided to only issue exemptions on a discretionary basis, the information is no longer publicly available. This was on the website as at January, so this is a new update. I already know if 1/2 Blue card holders whose partners have been asked for the A1 requirement. |

chidi4eze: Actually checked and they have completely changed the language requirements. No exceptions are raised even for partners of blue card holders and citizens. This is baffling when you consider the fact that the German federal government announced plans last year to remove the German language requirement for family reunion to enhance immigration and encourage applicants. This is a legislation in preparation! By the way, partners of English speaking western countries do not have this requirement for family reunion, I guess they don’t need to understand German to reunite with their families. While I do not want to ask why you decided to deliberately use falsified information on a critical document as your passport, I believe and hope you would have learned your lesson the hard way now. Next: you need to visit the NIS and explain that this was an honest mistake. Before that, you should approach a high court and swear a valid affidavit to that effect. Everything can be corrected in a passport as long as you can provide adequate proof and legal documents to back it up. The only question is: did you ever provide a legal document to back up the initial falsified information? If you did, that’s forgery. I’ve no legal advice on that, you should approach a lawyer to advise you further. All the best. lextube: 1 Like |

Ugoaus: You should have received your visa by now. I’ll advise you to let your partner in DE contact the Ausländerbehorde in his/her city for clarification and confirmation of the visa. If you receive that, you could send this to the embassy as evidence of visa approval. Unless there is another special reason, you should be in Germany by now. That radio silence thing they do while also issuing visas to others is just ridiculous. 2 Likes |
