Education / Michael Okpara University Varsity Women Association Opens Events Centre In Abia by jeff500: 12:57pm On Feb 24, 2016
The saying that whatever a man can do a woman can do better was demonstrated recently when a group of women under the name of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Women Association (MOUAUWA) commissioned an ultra-modern events centre they for the school.
The commissioning which took place at the events centre located at a land that is adjacent to the main campus of the university attracted a lot of personalities with the wife of the state governor, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu, declaring it open for use.

Speaking while commissioning the centre, Mrs Ikpeazu said that the modern event centre was in line with the aspirations of her husband’s administration in the state, which is placing emphasis on education, adding that the administration was committed to education to enhance employment, adoption of schools and free school meal which would provide calories needed by pupils in the state school system.
“The women of MOUAU have done marvelously well by building this edifice and it tells of their resourcefulness and determination to achieve success. This also shows that women are capable of achieving any goals they set for themselves”, she said.
Earlier in her welcome speech, the President of the association, who is also the wife of the Vice Chancellor of the university, Mrs Georgina Edeoga, said that the centre would serve as lecture hall, exam centre, conferences, workshops, seminars and social events.
“The initiative is in line with the vision of the vice chancellor, Prof Hilary Edeoga who vowed to massively transform the infrastructure of the university when he assumed office five years ago. The reason for building this project is the commitment to meet the varied needs of our society.

Jokes Etc / See What A Little Boy Put Me Into by jeff500: 11:43pm On Dec 29, 2015
See what a little boy put me into

I was walking down the street
yesterday afternoon when I
noticed a very small boy trying to
press a doorbell on a house across
the street. However, the boy is very
small and the doorbell is too high for him to reach. After watching the
boy's efforts for some time, I
moved closer to the boy's position.
I stepped smartly across the street,
walked up behind the little boy
and, placing my hand gently on the child's shoulder, I leaned over and
gave the doorbell a solid ring.

JOKE: A lady approaches her priest and tells him, "Father, I have a problem. I have two female talking parrots, but they only know how to say one thing." "What do they say?" the priest inquired. "They only know how to say, 'Hi, we're prostitutes. 'Want to have some fun?'" "That's terrible!" the priest exclaimed, "but I have a solution to your problem. Bring your two female parrots over to my house and I will put them with my two male talking parrots whom I taught to pray and read the bible. Politics / President Buhari To Ministers: Be Prudent, Drive Change by jeff500: 5:42pm On Nov 06, 2015
•Flags off 2-day retreat
President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday warned ministers-designate that they should avoid waste and conserve resources because government at all levels will now run on prudence administration.
He also told them that as the vehicle for good governance, they should count themselves privileged to have been chosen among millions of their compatriots to be the drivers of the Change Agenda which the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) promised Nigerians.
He stated this at the opening of a two-day presidential retreat organised by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation for ministers-designate held in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The retreat has the theme, “Delivering change from precepts to practice.” It was attended by the President; Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; all ministers-designate and other presidential aides and top government officials.
Immediately after Buhari delivered his opening remarks, the retreat went into a closed-door session.
While admitting that the expectations of Nigerians from his administration were high, he urged the ministers-designate that their determination to succeed must be equal to the nation’s challenges.
The President again reiterated that he intends to deliver on his campaign promises which were to tackle corruption, insecurity and improve the economy. Buhari disclosed that diversification of the economy would be the focus of his government.
He said the administration will count its achievements based on the number of Nigerians it succeeded in moving out of poverty.
The President also promised that his administration will uphold the Rule of Law and ensure that impunity was removed from governance.

Politics / Fuel Scarcity To Linger For 3 Weeks..... by jeff500: 5:30pm On Nov 06, 2015
Despite the Federal Government’s approval of N314 billion subsidy payment claims to oil marketers, Nigerians should brace up for a prolonged fuel scarcity of not less than three weeks.
Recall that the Federal Government Wednesday approved the payment of N413 billion to oil marketers to ensure that filling stations remain wet with petroleum products all year round.
Speaking to Daily Sun, Executive Secretary, Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN), Mr. Obafemi Olawore, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for approving the N314 billion subsidy claims, stating that what was approved was 90 per cent of the amount owed.
Olawore had, in an earlier interaction with journalists in June, explained that it takes an average of two weeks for the ordered consignment to arrive the country. On the approved N314 billion, he said the association was expecting to receive the money any moment soon.

‘‘What they approved for us is about 90 per cent of the amount owed. We are grateful to government for that. And for other outstanding bills such as interest rate and foreign exchange differentials, we are working together to arrive at a reasonable conclusion,’’ he said. Meanwhile, the Department of Petroleum of Resources (DPR) yesterday closed down the depots of Total Nigeria Plc, Dee Jones Limited and Eterna Oil Plc in Ibafon area of Lagos for hoarding over 46 million litres of petrol. The agency has also debunked the claims by marketers that there is scarcity of petrol and blamed the tight supply situation on depot owners, who hoard products, thus causing panic buying.
While Total and Eterna Oil were hoarding 13.6 million litres each, when DPR’s surveillance monitoring team visited the depot, Dee Jones was hoarding about 19.5 million.
However, the General Manager of Dee Jones, Mr. Willy Ikeora, denied that the company was hoarding the product in its depot, stressing that they were loading but not as fast as expected by DPR.
The regulatory authority also queried Ascon Oil and ordered the management of the company to appear at the agency’s head office by 3pm yesterday to explain why the company should not be sanctioned for its slow pace of loading tankers despite the availability of eight million litres in the depot.
Integrated Oil and Gas Limited was also directed to speed up the loading process as the company had up to 10.2 million litres of petrol when the agency’s surveillance monitoring team paid unscheduled visit to the facility.
Addressing journalists during the inspection, the Director of DPR, Mr. Mordecai Ladan, stated that the sealed depots would pay a fine of N2 million each, while the others should explain why they were loading at very slow pace.
“This exercise was embarked upon because of the impression that the general public has about product supply and distribution. We have been inundated with a lot of enquiries on the right situation and we have been telling the public that the people should not engage in panic buying because records at our disposal indicate that we have enough of this product. As at yesterday nationwide, we had in stock almost over 300 million litres.
In the Lagos storage area, we have over 220 million litres,” Ladan said.
“So, today, we have decided to come and see things for ourselves and as you can see, we have visited about four different depots now and these products are really in stock. Where we are now, you can see that they have 13 million litres in storage but they are not loading. Why? So, we have given the management of the depot up till 3pm today (Thursday) to come and proffer the reasons why liftings are not taking place and where liftings are taking place, why we have trickles of liftings,” Ladan added.

Politics / High Court Dismisses Saraki’s Application .. by jeff500: 5:10pm On Nov 06, 2015
The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has dismissed a fundamental human rights application filed by the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, seeking to stop his trial before the Code of Conduct Tribunal in Abuja.
Presiding Justice Ibrahim Buba held that his court did not have jurisdiction to entertain the application.
The Senate President had sued the Attorney-General of the Federation, the EFCC, ICPC, the Inspector-General of Police and the Code of Conduct Bureau.

In the suit, Senator Saraki asked the court to declare that his arraignment and trial before the CCT falls short of the African Charter on Human and Peoples Right and Section 36 of the Nigerian Constitution which guarantees his right to fair hearing and personal liberty.
He also asked the court to nullify the charges of false assets declaration pending against him.
The Senate President also wanted the court to restrain the respondents from inviting, arresting or prosecuting him on the basis of any allegation arising from his tenure as Governor of Kwara State from 2003 -2011.to
The court said that the issues cannot be resolved in Lagos and struck out the suit for lack of jurisdiction.

Phones / Run Two Whatsapp Account In One Andriod Phone... by jeff500: 11:09am On Oct 29, 2015
WhatsApp is one of the most popular messenger app that also lets you share pictures, videos, music files and so on. By now, everyone of us have WhatsApp in our smartphones. I prefer WhatsApp among other messaging apps due to its simplicity and instant messaging service.

Although each and everything is quite handy in WhatsApp, but "What’s the most disturbing part that you came across?" For me it is:

If you run dual SIM in your Android smartphones, you might be willing to enjoy two separate WhatsApp account for your two different telephone numbers on your smartphone. Isn’t it?

However, this is where WhatsApp puts limitations on its users. WhatsApp users can not use more than one WhatsApp account on their mobile devices -

However, you are probably wondering:

"How do I find an excellent solution for this problem that actually works?"

Today, I am introducing you two different Android apps -- OGWhatsApp and SwitchMe -- that allows users to run multiple WhatsApp accounts on a single smartphone.

METHOD 1: USING OGWhatsApp

OGWhatsApp is an Android app that allows you to use two separate WhatsApp accounts on your single Android device without any need to root your Android device.

While running your normal WhatsApp account on your smartphone, you can follow some simple steps (below) in order to run a different WhatsApp account on the OGWhatsApp.

Follow these simple steps to go

Step 1: Take a complete backup of your WhatsApp data and restore it.

Step 2: Delete all the WhatsApp data by going to Settings>apps>WhatsApp>Clear Data.

Step 3: Rename the /sdcard/WhatsApp directory to /sdcard/OGWhatsApp. You can use any file manager for Android to do this task, or from Windows.

Step 4: Uninstall your original WhatsApp app from your Android device.

Step 5: Now install OGWhatsApp in your Android smartphone.

Step 6: Once installed, remember to verify your old number that was previously registered with the original WhatsApp to OGWhatsApp. That is it.

Step 7: Now re-install the official WhatsApp for your other number from the play store.

Enjoy two separate WhatsApp accounts for both telephone numbers on your single Android device without even rooting your Android device.

METHOD 2: USE SWITCHME TO RUN MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS

SwitchMe-multiple-accounts

SwitchMe is another Android app that allows you to have two separate WhatsApp accounts on a single Android device, but this app requires your Android smartphone be rooted.

Here’s the deal:

Switchme multiple account app allows you to log in and out of multiple user spaces however it needs root access to do this. However, users cannot access the other profile from their current profile because each account within the multiple profiles will have its settings, applications, and data.

Follow these simple steps to go:

Step 1: Root your Android device.

Step 2: Make sure that you have WhatsApp app installed on your smartphone.

Step 3: Install SwitchMe Multiple accounts on your smartphone.

Step 4: Run SwitchMe Multiple accounts, it will ask for Superuser request that you need to grant.

Step 5: Now create a user profile with your name in SwitchMe app. This profile will be an administrator account containing all the current apps and settings, and will also reflect your WhatsApp profile that is already installed on your smartphone.

Step 6: Now create another profile using a different name by tapping on the Create Profile button in SwitchMe app, and then choose the Switch option by selecting this account.

Step 7: Now your smartphone will restart automatically and once it is ready to use, install official WhatsApp again from Google Play Store and register it for the different phone number. That is it.

Congratulations!

Now you can easily use multiple WhatsApp accounts on your single Android smartphone. The Free version of SwitchMe Multiple accounts app allows you to use only two user account.

So, I have made available solutions for both users who want to use multiple WhatsApp accounts on their smartphone without rooting their Android device and with rooting their Android device respectively. read more gist http://ogudos..com.ng/2015/10/run-two-whatsapp-account-in-one-andriod.html
Politics / APGA Faults Tribunal Rulings On Election Petitions.... by jeff500: 12:24pm On Oct 28, 2015
The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has condemned in totality, the judgments the party got at the various election tribunals across the country, insisting that the rationality and propriety of the rulings have been called to question.
Speaking during a press conference in Abuja yesterday, the chairman of the party, Dr Victor Ikechukwu, claimed that there was an orchestrated plan to sabotage its efforts to contribute to building an egalitarian society in which generations unborn will live in peace and tranquillity.

His words: “The first key national issues we want to address is about the election tribunal. Some of the outcomes of the judgments from the tribunals have not been too pleasant. It is not in our character to question the integrity of the judiciary.
“The judiciary is doing its best to ensure that it discharges its statutory responsibilities as fairly as it can, but the present development has put a question mark on that.
“In Abia State for instance, where it was very glaring from day one that APGA won almost all the elections in that state, our candidate was shortchanged but we decided not to take the laws into our hands as law-abiding citizens of this country. We put the national interest above our own parochial interest. “We sort relief in court, we went to the tribunal believing that we will get justice from the tribunal but what we got was far from what expected. This has aroused some sense of uncertainty around us that we are pushed to begin to question the rationality and propriety of some of the judgments that have been delivered.

Phones / Huawei Nexus 6P Full Specifications & Price - Google Nexus by jeff500: 9:33am On Oct 02, 2015
Nexus devices unveiled by Google - the other being the LG Nexus 5X. Also known as the Google Nexus 6P, it is the larger of the two phones but shares certain features with the smaller device, including main camera, fingerprint sensor and USB Type-C support. It crams in a massive Quad HD display and is powered by a sturdy octa-core processor.
LG Nexus 5X.

Design and Display

This large smartphone shows off a more premium look than the Nexus 5X with an all-metal chassis. The Huawei Nexus 6P parades a cute unibody design with diamond-cut edges - you are sure going to love the look.

Huawei Nexus 6P is somewhat surprisingly thinner than the Nexus 5X at just 7.3mm thick. And in spite of its aluminium construction, the weight is manageable at 178 grams.

The smartphone crams in a 5.7-inch AMOLED display, meaning it should be easier to handle than the Motorola Nexus 6. The display, which has a stunning resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, promises awesome colours and superb viewing.

Camera and Storage

The same 12.3-megapixel rear camera provided on LG Nexus 5X is used here. The shooter has f/2.0 wide aperture, dual LED flash and ultra-fast laser-assisted autofocus for breathtaking shots.

The front-facing snapper is a more robust 8-megapixel sensor with 1.4-micron pixels for selfies you will love to share. Unlike the smaller Nexus device, Huawei Nexus 6P will be available in three larger storage versions: 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. It does not allow for storage expansion, sadly.

Performance and Other Features

Huawei Nexus 6P packs a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor for highly responsive performance. The eight-core processor is backed by ample RAM of 3GB capacity and an Adreno 430 GPU to deliver convincing performance. The phone is powered by the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow for the best experience on Google's operating system.

A larger 3450mAh battery sees to the supply of juice needed to enjoy the heavy-duty performance Huawei Nexus 6P has to offer. It features similar Nexus Imprint fingerprint sensor as the Nexus 5X for enhanced security.

The massive phone comes with a USB Type-C connector for charging and data. Connectivity features include super-fast Bluetooth 4.2, NFC and dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac.

Pricing and availability

Huawei Nexus 6P is not yet available in Nigeria. When available, you can buy at leading online stores in the country, though Google plans to sell the smartphone online via its own store. Huawei Nexus 6P Price in Nigeria is expected to range from N100,000 to N110,000, depending on your location.

Politics / Ministerial List: Buhari Defaults, Senate Gets List 6 Of October by jeff500: 7:48pm On Sep 30, 2015
(NEW YORK | ABUJA)

Hopes of Nigerians for a glimpse into President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet was dashed Wednesday when the nominee list failed to arrive the Senate on schedule.
Buhari had promised at several fora that the ministerial list would be sent to the Senate on or before September 30.
On Wednesday, the last day of September, there was no ministerial list in the chamber, prompting Minority Leader Godswill Akpabio to raise a motion vide Order 14 of the Senate Standing Orders. He drew the attention of his colleagues to Buhari’s promise and asked Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, if the list was on hand.
Deputy Majority Leader, Bala Ibn Na’Allah, quickly countered him. He said the office of the Senate President was still open till 12:00 am to receive correspondence from Aso Rock.

However, gathered that the Buhari-approved list would be read in plenary on October 6.
Nigeria celebrates her independence anniversary on October 1 and next Tuesday is the next legislative day in the Senate.
Traditionally, the Senate President reads presidential communications in plenary, after which it would be referred to the relevant standing committee for consideration.
Addressing newsmen after the Senate adjourned plenary, Chairman of the Adhoc Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Dino Melaye, promised to inform Nigerians as soon as a formal notice was sent to the National Assembly.
He said the Senate waited patiently on Tuesday for the list, but to no avail.

“As I speak to you, the Senate is yet to receive any list of ministerial nominees from President Muhammadu Buhari. We have adjourned till next week. But in the event that we get the list before midnight today (Tuesday), we shall inform Nigerians about it,” Melaye said.

In a related development, Daily Sun gathered that the Presidency is fine-tuning the ministerial list here in Nigeria which is reportedly ready for submission.
A Presidency source said: “the first list contains 41 names,” adding that, “the President intends to really cut down on the number of ministers and the list right now contains more names than the required constitutional one-candidate-per-state.

“Some states like Lagos and Ekiti have three candidates each and only one of them can become minister.
“Former Lagos State governor, Babatunde Fashola, Abike Dabiri-Erewa and one other female name are said to be on the list.”

Another source added that Buhari has come under intense pressure from the political elite for him to accommodate acolytes in the cabinet.
“The President has been under serious pressure to drop Fashola, as a topshot in the All Progressives Congress (APC) would not hear of the President appointing Fashola. But the President prefers him above others…”
The final decision, it was learnt, will be taken in the Presidential Villa. Also, in the case of Ekiti, two former governors of the state, Segun Oni, Kayode Fayemi and human rights lawyer, Femi Falana are also said to be on the list.
“As consolation those who don’t make it to be ministers will be compensated with other appointments,” the source said.
The source continued that the ministerial list was one of the reasons Buhari invited some of his National Assembly aides to New York, “in order to strategise on how to avoid any hitch after the list has been submitted, considering the crisis following the Senate President’s trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

Politics / Ndigbo Must Unite To Build New Nigeria – Ogbonnaya Onu by jeff500: 5:09pm On Sep 30, 2015
Former governor of Abia State and national leader of the All Progressives Congress ( APC), Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu has called on Ndigbo, both home and abroad to unite in order to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of Nigeria.
Dr. Onu, who spoke in Abuja on Monday night as chairman of the 2015 Igbo Day Celebration, organised by Ohanaeze Ndigbo (FCT chapter), told the gathering that only a united people can collectively make any contribution.

He reminded them of the numerous sacrifices Ndigbo had made in order to keep Nigeria as one indivisible country. Onu predicted that in the nearest future, the Ndigbo would assume their rightful position in the scheme of things in Nigeria.
“I am convinced that the event of this night will rekindle hope in many that when a people come together in search of a common purpose, surely no obstacle can defeat them in the pursuit of a better and brighter future.
“We have a rich history as a people. We have given to our beloved country, men and women of distinction who have made important contributions to national development. We have substantially contributed to the growth of our economy through our resourcefulness and enterprise. We have strengthened our nation’s unity as we live, work and raise a family in virtually every village in all parts of our beloved country.
“In this long and beautiful journey, we should renew faith in ourselves and absolute trust in God. ‘Onye Kwe Chiya Ekwe’. We must resolve to love one another and together affirm that we shall succeed. Self-confidence is the manure that nourishes achievement. I believe that if we resolve to pursue our manifest destiny as one people bound together in strength and purpose, Nigeria’s greatness would be achieved.
“I am confident that Ndi Igbo will help renew Nigeria. We cannot achieve this if we are not united. I urge that we do not allow division among ourselves and hence work together in love and unity in the pursuit of a common destiny. When we work together for the common good, our individual talents, strength and achievements will be better appreciated by all. We did it in the past. We can do it in the future.”

Politics / Man Who Removed Father’s Heart After Killing Him Reports Himself To Police by jeff500: 5:01pm On Sep 30, 2015
A 34 year-old man, Oamen Nelson, accused of stabbing his father: one Ehiremen Oamen, to death in the Ipaja area of Lagos, has turned himself in to the police.
It will be recalled that Nelson, who was said to be a drug addict, had allegedly stabbed his 74-year-old father, an indigene of Edo State to death during squabbles on Monday, September 21 and reportedly escaped from his father’s apartment in Block 272, Abesan Estate in Ipaja after the incident. He had also reportedly removed his father’s heart and took it away.
Nelson’s younger sister was the one who discovered her father’s corpse after finding traces of blood in the family’s sitting room. The lady, who did not want to disclose her name, had found the septuagenarian in a pool of blood. She subsequently raised the alarm.
Some neighbours and residents, who also rushed to the room to see Ehiremen, observed that there was a deep hole on the left side of his chest and later discovered that Nelson removed his father’s heart before absconding.
However, Nelson who had earlier escaped from the house reported at the Ipaja Police Division and had been reportedly transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigation (SCID), Yaba, for further investigation, PunchMetro reports.

Politics / 10,000 Jobs To Go As NNPC Closes 500 Affiliate Retail's Station by jeff500: 10:16am On Sep 28, 2015
STRONG indications emerged last weekend that an estimated 10,000 workers of about 500 NNPC Retail Limited, franchisees outlets across the country may soon lose their jobs over mounting debt profile and other bottlenecks militating against the state oil firm’s ongoing reform initiatives. The NNPC Retail Limited, a subsidiary of NNPC has been overseeing the operations of the franchise retailers since August 2002 at a cost which its current management considers unsustainable in the face of daunting challenges.

Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, who gave this hint at a meeting with Energy Editors in Lagos, attributed the impending closure of the franchise outlets to rising debt burden which the parent body can no longer shoulder in the face of its dwindling revenue.

He disclosed that while the franchise holders operate 500 stations, NNPC on the other hand has about 20 stations directly, lamenting that the affiliate stations have continued to enjoy some economies of scale and other benefits from the NNPC which it can no longer sustain.

But as part of plans to prune its operations to reduce cost, the NNPC boss has said it would no more be business as usual.

Kachikwu disclosed that the move had become expedient in the face of the unprofitable nature of the business entity.

He maintained that the corporation could no longer cope carrying on the huge financial burden of the retail outlets to the detriment of other businesses among the NNPC subsidiary companies.

A visibly worried Kachikwu explained that the 500 affiliate stations have consistently failed to pay for products supplied them by NNPC, hence the mounting debt profile, which has made the business unattractive.

“While I ran my own private business, operators made payments to me before products are supplied to them. I don’t need to even wait for their payments. They pay far ahead of supply. But in the case of the affiliate companies, the reverse is the case,’’ he lamented.

He said when he came on board he discovered that a lot of products disappeared along the retail value chain, while there are no attempts to recover some of the debts owed.

He said he has instructed that the credit time lines be reduced because it has been abused by the operators, while product delivery to affiliate stations would henceforth be on cash and carry basis in order to return to profitability.

“For now, we will be returning to our initial 20 fuel stations while we grow capacity gradually. The present affiliate arrangement is not working for the retail company. But we will keep working to come up with other sustainable options to keep the initiative moving,” he said.

But a former GMD of NNPC, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi Barkindo, had said NNPC was targeting 50 per cent ownership of fuel stations.

“In all developing countries, their national oil companies operate across the supply chain, including the strategic downstream sector and it is not only seen from commercial perspective but also from national security implications. You cannot handover that sector to a group of people, private individuals, who you cannot predict their political coloration, decision they may take and the implication of such decision,” Barkindo had said.

Reacting to the decision of NNPC to close the 500 retail outlets, a franchisee who pleaded not to be named for fear of victimisation said the threat by NNPC is good riddance to bad rubbish, insisting that it was the franchisees that are running the business at a loss.

“Despite several requests to the NNPC Retail Limited, the unit in charge of the transaction, for upward increase in profit margins, the management of the corporation is yet to accede to the request.”

He regretted that it had been very difficult to get the NNPC Retail Limited management to discuss final approval of the margin increase, adding that they have been operating at a loss since the partnership started.

If NNPC goes ahead with its decision to shut down about 500 retail outlets, more than 10,000 workers employed of the affected outlets will return to the labour market. decision to shut down about 500

On the way forward, the GMD said the corporation will not be in any rush to sign on affiliates into its retail chain, but would rather take its time to steadily grow the 20 outlets that belong to NNPC.

Barkindo maintained that the move was informed by the determination of the corporation to break the monopoly that currently exists among the marketers who play key roles in the supply chain.

NNPC Retail Limited operations commenced in August 2002 when the first outlet was commissioned in Lagos to market petroleum products to the public.
