Software/Programmer Market / Interswitch Integration Help! by jeoma: 5:12pm On May 22, 2009
Hi all,

I am in the process of integrating interswitch/web pay with my website. We are going through the necessary applications with GTB.

Has anybody else has already gone through this.

Specifically my web developer wants to know how complex the integration will be to an oscommerce web site.

Do you know if they have developed an interswitch "contribution" or module to allow integration to an oscommerce cart??

I am looking for this information now so i will not get any surprises at the next stage of the process.

thanks in advance for any insight into this matter.

Business / Re: Woolworths Lagos Closed Down: Any Idea Why? by jeoma: 3:28pm On Sep 15, 2006
I'm not certain how this became a debate about ideologues but it is good to get an understanding how people are feeling on the ground.

I personally believe some where in the middle you are all right. Just as they do in the Europe and America these retailers have an obligation and a moral duty to add value to the indigenous people and customers they are serving. They should meet the demand in Nigeria for choice and quality at value for money prices.

The consumer should be able to choose whether to shop in a mall or a market, choose whether to buy Nigerian made or European made goods. This sort of competition is what advances economies and improves the way people live.

Prohibition is probably not the way as it doesn't actually get at the root of the problem. So long as there is (if there is) a negative brand image amongst the consumer of Nigerian manufacturing, agricultural produce etc they will simply just get this stuff on the black market not buying the domestic produce anyway.

The government are better off doing what other economies do. Allow QUALITY imports only into the country. Provide tax incentives, grants and subsidies to Nigerian companies. Allow all products to be available in the market place side by side. In doing so the consumer will see that there is little difference between the two, equate European made and Nigeria made as comparable and where this doesn't happen it will be the inspiration Nigerian industry needs to get to that next level.

No problem. As i said your comments were definately helpful. Maybe you also know something about TM Lewin. Is there still a franchise operation running in Nigeria.

not sure why you are so upset but in anycase your feedback (underneath the hostility) was helpful.

Not sure i understand.

On one hand you say, any organisation that relies 100% on the importation of goods will fail in Nigeria, on the other you say these outlets were let down by the poor manufacturing sector in Nigeria.

Please explain a little more, i'm interested to learn.

Thanks ,

Were there any clothes brands we'd recognise in Europe?? - were they definately new clothes as opposed to SHC.
Business / Re: Woolworths Lagos Closed Down: Any Idea Why? by jeoma: 8:01am On Sep 14, 2006
Indeed. Woolworths was i believe in Lekki, Lagos.

Does anybody know what merchandise they actually sold. In Europe they sell CD's sweets, electrical goods and some soft furnishing. Was the Lagos store different, see link.

I believe it was due to a ban on the importation of ready-made clothes.

Does anyone know anything other than that? I find it hard to believe that the Woolworth’s franchise operating in Nigeria didn't do the due diligence to understand that this could be a factor that could close them down??

Is there any gist on this?
Business / Business Insurance by jeoma: 12:57am On Aug 29, 2006
Could you advise on any reputable registered providers of business insurance in Nigeria.

I am interested in purchasing insurance which will cover the replacement of stock only in the event of theft, fraud, fire etc. Do these sorts of policy exist based on closing stock with a wholesale value of £21k do you know what sort of premium i'd be looking at.

Thanks as always.

Business / Re: Cost Of Billboard Advertising In Nigeria (Abuja)? by jeoma: 1:02am On Aug 21, 2006
Thanks everybody for your help,

Esona i especially appreciate your remarks with respect to the quality of their work.

Could i ask what sort of pricing structure companies like rocnana usually offer so i have a jumping off point in negotiations.

Do they price a job based on a certain time frame. How long were your billboards displayed for? I will be providing the artwork and would expect the advertising structures to be displayed for a period of approximately 2-3 months. Is it customary to build display time into the price?

, Alternatively is there a price fixed regardless of the amount of time the advert is displayed.

Thanks again.

Business / Business Banking Nigeria (transfering Money Uk To Nigeria - Nigeria To Uk) by jeoma: 4:28pm On Aug 14, 2006
We need to know whether there are any banks in Nigeria with links to Europe (specifically UK)

The problem is we need to be able to transfer cash between the two regions speedily and with minimum cost. Any suggestions on (tested) ways to do this.

We were thinking a bank which operates in Nigeria with operations in the UK could provide some kind of service.

Other ideas and suggestions welcome.
Business / Spending Patterns Of Middle And Top Bracket Nigerian Society by jeoma: 6:22pm On Aug 05, 2006
Has anybody read anything or completed any research with respects to the disposable income of middle to top bracket sections of Nigerian society. Specifically I would like to perform some research on their spending patterns. What these men and women (16-35) spend money on, where they spend it (percentages and absolute numbers etc, )

Does anyone have access to this sort of information, have any quotable reports, or know of any good placees to start this sort of investigation.

, i've tried the 1991 census but these sorts of statistics have not been included.

Many Thanks,
I.j.

I just tried to contact rocnana using the web adress. There is a problem with their contact and quote page. Has anyone used them before, are they reputable.

If so please let me know a direct contact email address or phone number. This is nowhere on the web, even the Nigeria business directory has not recorded their contact details (only their address)!!

Many Thanks everyone.

How Much Would Billboard Advertising Cost In Nigeria Specifically Abuja

Hey whats up.

I'm starting a business in Abuja and i would like to get a rough estimate of how much it would cost to run a billboard campaign, the basis on which they charge, and if anybody knows, the man to talk to.

I guess this is a lot to ask on my first post but you all seem fairly knowledgable. Could you help a lady out.
