Dear friends,

Greetings to you.

Many thanks for the support we received on Brian for his surgery last year.

We are back in Nigeria and he is doing well. Recovery is steady and he is gaining weight too.

God bless you all and I am indeed very grateful for all the support in prayers, solutions and advice you gave.

Hello Jephconcer and olu4life,
How is it going?
Have you been able to offset the bill?
I wanted to know if its still okay to send

Hello @ Salsera,

Many thanks for checking up on us as per the fundraising.

Yes, the fundraising is actually very ongoing as per mentioned in the mail thread.

Apologies for not responding aftera few days.

I havent been able to access internet regularly and also, there was a bit of minor setbackwith baby when he had an infection (being treated already- was informed that infections are likely to occur with prolonged stay on ventilator)

Presently, efforts have been on ensuring his weight is worked upon and he has been on some diets placed by a dietician.

This will also support his faster recovery.

Many regards,

Jeph

Kindly post account details.

Hello friends,

Greetings to you all and hope you are enjoying your holidays.

Fortunately, my family have had to remain in hospital as Brian recovers from the ICU.

Fortunately also, he has been off the ventilator in the last 4days, a very vital sign he is improving and doesn't need life support as initially done. He has been placed on what the doctors call "bubbles" which helps to clear his lungs and also still on medications.

He looks very strong at the moment and has an all peak weight of 3.4kg! The maximum he weighed before surgery was 3.1kg and that was with a lot of battle.

I have asked when he will be released to the open ward and subsequent discharged and I was told likely on Wednesday or Thursday.

In my conversations with some of the Nigerians ,I realised that the Indians may be a bit crafty when it comes to bills. And that they may keep posting a discharge case until bills are settled.

Its been the same concerns I have as the bills are heavily uncleared , not because we didnt hit our initial budget but because of some factors that came our way eg devaluation of the naira and other factors that is quite unfortunate.

I appreciate tge prayers and financial support we have received and will still feel sadly unhappy I am having to request this again from friends in the group.

I will be happy to receive your support to offset the bills. I received 50,000naira from the initial budget balance and still looking at 610,000naira.

I am trying to offset other bills like the visa extension by some weeks because we got a 2month visa which expires in a few days.

Thank you and God bless.

Though a very small sum compared to life, its also so huge. I wish I had ideas on how to raise this sum here.

Its refreshing to know that Baby Brian made it. For that, I am so grateful to God

Thanks so much for your support so far.

We are hopeful we get the bills sorted with the commitment to this course we have seen. It appears slow, but we pray God rises up again for us.

It can be disheartening when the hospital reminds one of the outstanding but I am hopeful.

Regards ,

Jeph

Praying for the Lord's mercy upon Brian.

I put in a little contribution in the gt account.

Hello bro,

Good morning.

Thank you very much for the kind support. I acknowledge receipt.

I appreciate the kind support and do look forward to supports as pledged.

Brian remains in ICU presently but stable. He had a throat infection from the surgery but this is being managed with antibiotics and he is still on and off ventilator until he picks up.

Thank you and God bless.

Dear friends,

Greetings to you all.

I have had to sneak out of the little chance I have to access the internet ,to mail.

I want to thank the many who have supported us through till now. I had to peep in here and I was amazed to see that everyone is still interested in this process. I am grateful for this.

Olumide has been excellent in giving feedback on my behalf. Thank you abundantly .

I won't go through the lengthy story of what we had to go through , but it was easier with you guys with us. I will just say we thank God, he who is able to keep us all from falling.

I have faith that the surgery scheduled initially for thursday and now monday 15th Dec will be a walk over.
It was moved when we arrived at the hospital on monday. Usually, a patient checks in two days earlier and will be admitted, observed and gets operated . Ours was moved , I dont have full details on why, but I was told its in best interest of the child . And I fail to be disappointed! I saw God working to ensure its a smooth sail.

Dollar has been unfair to us. It crumbled us in our plans. But we are hopeful we will get this done. It has been tougher than we thought without the usual contigencies. I hadnt planned for such a leap in currency from the 165naira we planned to the over 180naira it exchanges for. The hospital goes with the latter !

I am immensely thankful to all of you .

Words cant say enough how we appreciate you. Brian looks brighter daily even when surgery has not been done and I am hopeful that the extra treatment we got to boost his hemoglobin from 8.4 to 14.4% as at last Thursday would be a cheer!

We are checking into hospital tomorrow afternoon (we have been staying in an apartment paid for at 1000rupees daily and have lived there for 30days approximately) .

We shall move to Manipal Hospital HAL Hospital Road and the lead surgeon is Dr Devananda who is one of the country's best. We have placed him in the hands of God, who will perfect his skills on the day he leads his team to restore Brians health on Gods direction.

Thank you all.

Hello friends,

I decided to take out my time from work, much as you have all been passionate about this whole issues on my behalf.

You will find I mentioned in my comment that I had registered with nairaland in the past and I have decided to be on it to see its workings.

I appreciate comments, and nairaland is just one of many options for seeking funding to support the course.

I do not think we should be trading words on this in any way, as it is not healthy.

If you had been in my shoe, perhaps you may have understood how much energy it takes to run this.

Apart from the fact that being on the social platform will nearly be a forgotten itinerary.

What I do when I see a full name in my capacity is to do a thorough check starting from the name. I try to check on google if this person exist and how often it does.

In other to try to give a face, I decided to fix up my name( completely). So I am at a loss as to how much else, I should give my details.

And for those who have issues about my just coming online, it should be clear that just like you have been concerned, friends have helped me cover up miles that I may never have reached. So I could hardly be everywhere at some points.

But regrets that this seems late.

I am sorry about your experience, and I share the thoughts.

Thank you for your support through our trials.

God will thank you enough.

Dear friends,

This is Jeph Ighodaro, Brian's dad!

I had to come online, at least to give a face to this race.

I will begin by thanking the many who have believed in Brian's ability to go through this. And also, say that I understand quite well the many who had doubts about this.

For one reason, I shouldn't have had a need to come online to raise funds, especially because I work. But sometimes, life throws at us impromptu anxieties that we can hardly grapple with.

I registered on nairaland many years ago, and not until today, I decided to come online, perhaps to understudy how it works. Most importantly, to thank everyone as we are wrapping up on plans to help sort out the surgery.

Its not a day to write a lot for me, because I do not want to sound very disbelieving about what I have read through the pages here. Olu had requested for a video, albeit, I reluctantly shared same. I want to specially thank him for helping me in this course. I understand that supporters want to be sure, and rightly so, because I run an NGO (http://defenceforchildren.org/dci-worldwide/dci-africa/nigeria.html) on the side whilst working, so I know what that means.

But I wasn't in favor of having videos to be watched throughout the earth, with intention to seek beyond the needful.

A group member had mentioned that I should have been more involved. I will simply reply that there can be no more involvement than being so emotionally traumatized watching a child, one out of two, with the intent of trying to save it! But be assured that I am working on this and have not relented, because if I had to relent, we would never have reached the extent to which we have.

Remember that when we honestly ask ourselves which people mean most to us, we often find out that it is not those who offer advice or solutions, but those who have rather touched our pains with a gentle hand. The ones who face with us, the reality of our powerlessness.

This is the one who cares, and that is what I have seen with the group here.

I want to thank you. And I will try to be more frequent here, so I can share updates as the days parade by. In the new week, we are making plans to make the trip, earnestly.

I want to specially thank everyone who have supported us, the many who will support the course, and the few who would have wanted to, but haven't been able to due to circumstances that are beyond control, to those who sent in their widows might, especially students and corp members who humbled me and helped me to see that what one gives, he gets in return, I am most grateful.

Sustainably yours,

Jeph Ighodaro
