Politics / Apc's Sponsored Attacks On Mike Igini: The Truth Behind The Scene by Jerry5050pmg(m): 11:13pm On Mar 25, 2019
APC'S SPONSORED ATTACKS ON MIKE IGINI: THE TRUTH BEHIND THE SCENE

Richard Peters

The 2019 elections have come and gone, but there's a name that has remained. He was not a political candidate, but has remained popular. His popularity, however is synonymous with integrity, truth, good conscience, perfection, peace and honesty. That name sent sleep away from the eyes of evil doers before, during and after the general elections. Sons and daughters of darkness fidgeted when the name was echoed, and the political door of hell wore a somber look as the name was pronounced. That name is Mike Igini, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Akwa Ibom State.

I have not met him in person before, but I have read so much about him since 2011. Mike Igini is a name that resonates integrity in the political circle of Nigeria. Compromise is alien to his nature. Though not too rich, yet he is contented with what he has, a virtue considered to be rare among many. His antecedents speak volume in this regard.

He is one electoral official that I can vouch for. The power, influence, money and intimidation of incumbency cannot infect him. He is one man who values his name more than fame, influence and wealth, and this reputation, he has sacrificially built and natured for decades now.

Both small and great have testified to his uncompromising stance in supporting justice, fair- play and equity in the political arena. From Cross River, Anambra, lmo to Edo, to Rivers, and to Akwa Ibom, the story is the same. Where the electoral umpires are in doubt, the name that first come to mind is Mike Igini, as he has earned trustworthiness over the years. That is who he is, and there's no two ways about it.

When Mike Igini was sent to Akwa Ibom State, hell was let loose. Those who are alien to truth and fairness began to wail and yell, calling for his redeployment. For weeks, campaign of calumny and series of protests were made for him to be redeployed. But those who sent him to the state paid deaf ear to such satanic calls.

Promises were made, and French gifts offered, but he conscientiously rejected them, and punctuated with a phrase that he(Mike Igini) popularised - I came to Akwa Ibom to count votes, and not money.

Today, since the APC in Akwa Ibom could not buy him, or succeed to "tame" him with money and threat to his life and that of his family members, they started labeling and calling him names. He is now seen as traitor, wicked, compromising and dishonest. How did we even get here?

Today, a man who stands for truth is seen as being wicked. We now celebrate evil and crucify justice. On pages of papers, the APC have continued to accuse Mike Igini of colluding with the PDP to "steal" their mandate. This is preposterous! Which mandate?

Several threats have been made to his life and family, yet he is adamant. Should such a man not be hailed and celebrated, rather than castigated? When was it a criminal offence to support justice? Have we come this low?

When he oversaw the Imo inconclusive elections in 2011and 2015, and the opposition then won, he was a saint. When he supervised election in Cross River State, and the then opposition won seats to the House of Assembly had a filled day, and in Edo in 2015 the only state out of 11 states of South South and South East combined where president BUHARI scored 46% instead of 25% requirements of the constitution and PDP was controlling federal might, he was an angel, a man of integrity and honesty. But today, the same man they celebrated for such uncompromising feat is seen as a traitor. Is this not a perfect definition of irony?

Could it be that they didn't really know him when they sent him to Akwa Ibom State? How come they are all crying that he is so straight forward? Is the world coming to an end so soon?

It is time for APC to bury their heads in shame. Those calling for the relocation of the election petition tribunal to Abuja should be ashamed of themselves. If they like, let them take the tribunal to Iraq, Afghanistan or Syria, justice will speak, and only God will prevail.

This is not the first time Mike Igini has rejected gratifications and gifts from political gladiators, yet the people did not wail and yell. Why is Akwa Ibom's case different? Why can't the APC sleep in shame?

Let them leave Mike Igini alone. He should be allowed to rest after a tedious exercise. He must not die for standing by the truth. His family should not suffer for the defense of justice. This is a virtue all Nigerians should imbibe.

Politics / 2019: 166 Suspected APC Thugs Camped At A'ibom Police Conference Hall by Jerry5050pmg(m): 7:27am On Mar 07, 2019
166 Suspected Thugs Camped at A'Ibom Police Conference Hall

Idongesit Ashameri, Uyo

The 166 Suspected thugs arrested on their way from Edo to Akwa Ibom State as thugs ahead of Saturday elections are currently cooling their feet in the conference hall of the police headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo.

The suspected thugs who almost fill the hall to capacity were as at when our correspondent visited the station, secured by some men of Special  Anti Robbery Squad (SARS),  including Supol Idorenyin Akpabio, cousin to Senator Godswill Akpabio.

The buses they were intercepted with were also seen parked behind the conference hall of the police headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia.

Our correspondent reports that the suspected thugs, arrested on Tuesday night at Obot Akara, Akwa Ibom State, with manifest bearing names, phone numbers and next of kin of the thugs confessed they were mobilized by Tony Kabaka a known Thug who works with and for Oshiomhole.

Judging from the threats recently issued by the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole during a presidential thanksgiving visit in the state, many suspect the intention of the thugs to have been  to cause havoc, attack government and other installations to create artificial crisis in the state and cause a postponement of the elections.

Independent reports that Oshiomhole had during the visit to the state vowed, in very strong terms to deploy everything at his party's disposal to ensure his party, the APC comes out victorious during Saturday polls.

For this, many suspect  the thugs were contracted by APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole on behalf of the Akwa Ibom State chapter of the APC as part of the strategy adopted by the APC after Monday's Town hall meeting in Uyo and a close door meeting held at Akpabio's country home on Monday night which was attended by the Vice President,  Prof Yemi Osinbanjo.

The thugs were said to have departed Benin in the early hours of Tuesday, enroute Uyo, and  were intercepted at the Obot Akara boundary axis of the Ikot Ekpene/Umuahia expressway. The suspects were taken from Obot Akara to Uyo by security forces where they are currently camped at the police headquarters.

Efforts to speak with the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Odiko Mcdon failed as calls, text messages and chats sent to his phone line were not responded to. A visit to his office also met his absence.
Politics / Apc, Nsima; Stop Intimidating Akwa Ibom Eligible Voters - Hdp Guber Candidate by Jerry5050pmg(m): 11:59am On Mar 06, 2019

PRESS RELEASE

APC, NSIMA; STOP INTIMIDATING AKWA IBOM ELIGIBLE VOTERS

Fellow Akwa Ibomites, it is saddening that our once peaceful and safe State is at the risk of being overtaken by men of evil agendas without giving considerations to its aftermath negative signifance on Akwa Ibomites.

The plans and thoughts of APC is not for the genuine interest of developing Akwa Ibomites neither their actions geared towards good governance.

As we all anticipate the beginning of a new and greater Akwa Ibom State under my leadership as the next governor of the state come March 9; It is politically salient to note that we (Akwa Ibom State) contributes largely to the growth and sustainance of Nigeria's Economy yet, we are yet to feel or witness the impacts of federal presence in every successive governments since the re-birth of democracy in 1999.

That Akwa Ibom State has been very peaceful, secure and safe as conspicuously acknowledged globally under the incumbent PDP led-administration of Mr. Udom Emmanuel is an indication to point to the fact that while casting our votes on Saturday March 9, 2019; electorates must not mortgaged their conscience, I advise them to exercise their franchise by voting for a pragmatic, compassionate, passionate and morally dignified leader to govern the State.

Yesterday, I read on the social media platforms reports on thugs importation by the All Progressive Congress (APC), ahead of March 9 gubernatorial and state assembly elections. This stories virtually occupied the entire social media space be it true or not, I give glory to God that the police aptly responded along with other security agents.

I call on every Akwa Ibomites to take cognisance of the fact that the gubernatorial election is not a race between two political parties. It's not for APC and PDP. The level of desperation by the APC to forcefully take over the state illegally is a glaring signal of total annihilation. A situation we must all rise and say NO.

For the overall interest of our people, and as the incoming governor of our dear state, I rise to voice out against and to condemn those involved in causing mayhem and sponsors of politically motivated killings that we will resist them, we will not succumb to their antics, we will all rise within the legal confine to protect and defend our votes to ensure it is counted.

Let me at this juncture commend the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Mike Igini who has vowed never to compromise. Kudos to men of the Nigeria police in Akwa Ibom State on their apt response and professionalism towards guarranteing the safety of lifes and properties across the state.

Politics / Buhari Gives Up On Akwa Ibom Apc, Shuns Thank You Rally by Jerry5050pmg(m): 11:49am On Mar 04, 2019
BUHARI GIVES UP ON AKWA IBOM APC, SHUNS THANK YOU RALLY

Monday, 4th March, 2019, 11.20am

Aniekeme Finbarr

President Muhammadu Buhari has been properly advised to shun the thank you rally earlier scheduled for today, Monday.

Sources at the presidency confirm that Mr President is very disappointed by the poor outing of the APC in Akwa Ibom State especially the failure of the Governorship candidate, Mr Nsima Ekere to win his Local Government and Senator Akpabio failing to win his senatorial seat.

Late attempts to convince the president couldn't go through as the president had said clearly that it will not affect the final outcome.

Senator Ita Enang in a release Monday morning confirmed the president's decision, "May I please confirm that His Excellency Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, GCON will visit Akwa Ibom State for the scheduled Town Hall meeting today, March 4, 2019

'His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has so deleted due to unforseen state duties suddenly arising.

The scheduled time and all other programmes remain the same".

It is authoritative, the president and his team have crossed Akwa Ibom State off their list of states likely to be won by APC.

Analysts also think the president may have called off the appointment on the advice of the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari who is threatened by the seeming encroachment on his job as reported by many news organizations yesterday.

All the hopes to stimulate the Akwa Ibom APC back to form has failed. The last Vice President Osinbajo came on the trader Moni visit, not much was achieved.

It is the PDP's game to lose on Saturday. The party is set for another massive victory.

Politics / Army’s Show Of Force: A Smokescreen For Election Rigging For The APC by Jerry5050pmg(m): 4:47pm On Mar 03, 2019
PRESS RELEASE

Army’s Show of Force: A Smokescreen for Election Rigging for the APC

The recent show of force and subsequent declaration of 10 “local Government areas as flash points by the Nigerian army is a veiled rigging plan for the APC. This plan we have learnt was hatched after the failure of the army to effectively intervene at the Ikot Ekpene collation center to save the Warsaw general and failed Senator, Godswill Akpabio. This announcement is therefore a smokescreen to aid the Army high command to deploy military personnel to aid in the hijack of election materials in favour of the APC.

As a party we are at a loss as to the foundation or basis for the declaration of those areas as flashpoints. It is common knowledge that no casualty was recorded in the last elections in Akwa Ibom state, unlike other states where scores of people were killed and maimed. We will like to remind the military that their primary duty is the protection of the territorial sovereignty of our country and not to take over civil policing, except in extreme circumstances (which elections do not fall within).

We hereby totally reject the proposed militarization of our elections and refer them to the judgment in the case instituted by President Muhammadu Buhari, who then was candidate of the APC in 2015 on the role of the military in elections.

We again call on the Chief of Defence staff, Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Army Operations and the entire Army High command to direct the GOC 6 Division to immediately withdraw the over 30 soldiers attached to Obong Nsima Ekere, the 15 soldiers attached to Chief Godswill Akpabio and the 8 soldiers attached to Senator Ita Enang. As an indication of complicity between the Army and the APC currently in operation, it was the APC Governorship candidate who posted the news, even before the Army authorities pronounced it. The APC in Akwa Ibom has been boasting lately that, what the police under the ignoble watch of AIG Kimo could not do, the Army will do. Our obvious reply is found in the scriptural proclamation, “who is he that says a thing and it comes to pass, when the Lord has not commanded”.

We plead with the army to desist from partisan politics and to remain professional in line with their Rules of Engagement, as this is the only guarantee for a thriving democracy. Superior officers should not become subject to politicians in expectation for favourable postings and appointments.

Finally, to the soldiers who are preparing to be deployed, we advice them to brace up to meet with the divine army of God which will be on duty on that day to guide His people and protect them from harm. Our party like always will trust in the name of the Lord our God, who is able to do all things, while the opposition will as usual, put their hopes on their horses, chariots and soldiers(Federal Might).

We encourage all Akwa Ibom people to head out enmasse to their polling units and vote massively for the sustenance of the prevailing peace, the continuation of the prosperity and the comprehensive development that the Udom Emmanuel administration represents.

Politics / Agile Communications Celebrates 5th Year Anniversary by Jerry5050pmg(m): 9:32am On Mar 03, 2019
....AS RUFAI LADIPO'S WIFE " FUNMI" CLOCKS 55

No doubt, today is a party day for Mr. Rufai Ladipo, an icon in the advertising and marketing communications business sector of the economy.

Rufai Ladipo has cause to celebrate. He left the country in 1979 and returned some years back, equipped with the requisite academic qualification for growth. And today, he is the President of Agile Communications Limited, a top advertising and marketing communications company that handles the briefs of ‘A’ brands.

Prior to establishing his company, Rufai Ladipo worked with STB McCann Lagos, a frontline Ad Agency in Nigeria where he joined as an Accounts Director and eventually left as the Chief Executive Officer some few years later.

Rufai Ladipo also had a stint at Scanad Nigeria as CEO, where his exemplary leadership role was evident as a change agent in 12 years, leading the growth of the Agency, both in turnaround and profitability.

As a Past President, Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria, Former Council Member and Chairman, Membership Committee, Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), it is not surprising that in 5 years, with Rufai leading the ‘TeamAgile,’ Agile Communications Ltd is celebrating its 5th anniversary, at the top.

The senior brand communications and marketing professional, with well-rounded client and agency experience in managing multi-million dollar brands, is also married to an equally successful wife, Mrs. Funmi Ajila-Ladipo, whose success in the turnaround of the fashion industry, as the current President of the Fashion Designers Association of Nigeria (FADAN), is almost legendary.

Rufai Ladipo’s wife today turns 55 and he could not hide his joy and excitement, as he thanked God in an early morning celebration, and acknowledged some of those who have given him strength throughout these past years.

"I thank all my close friends and notable clients, like First Bank of Nigeria and its subsidiaries in Ghana, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Gambia Democratic Republic of Congo, First City Monument Bank (FCMB) and Otunba Olasubomi Balogun, who is always asking, "how is your outfit doing, " I thank you sir!

“I also thank Airtel, Hi Impact Planet, especially my friend, Mr. Yanju Lipede for believing in this venture and supporting us. Karrington and Mr. Kunle Adesina a successful businessman for his support, FMDQ, Darbur International who gave us our first break in less than two years in the new business, with the production of TV commercials and video works shot in India with Patoranking, Fly Boku, Ecobank Nigeria, and numerous clients who gave us the required push to carry on.

"Celebrating 5 as an organization also means that I must thank the SSA to President Mohammadu Buhari on Diaspora and Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Abike Dabiri Erewa. We thank you for your patronage, especially handling the 'Point Of No Return' celebration in Badagry. You’re indeed a gem!

“I also have to thank ‘Our Board of Directors’ under the leadership of Dr. Segun Aina, a renowned banker, Ms. Funmi Onajide, formerly of MTN and now Communications/Marketing consultant, and Mrs. Fummi Roberts, a legal luminary of note, for guiding us through and ensuring our corporate governance structure is top-notch. All of us at ‘Agile’ salute you all.

"Not to forget our pioneer employees, and current ones who are hoisting the Agile flag and working hard to make a difference.
"Also not forgetting our statutory and regulatory bodies such as APCON, we thank you. Same for our immediate constituency, AAAN (Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria) where I was a former president, we also thank you.

"How can I forget the Pavilion Parish of RCCG and Pastor Rufus Eyitayo who blessed the venture from Day 1? It's been God's work and it's marvelous in our sight.

"On top of it all is my children and lovely wife, Funmilayo for believing in the Agile narrative. God bless you all.” he added.

Rufai Ladipo said that, Agile Communications Ltd has been a product of hard work and the grace of God. The best according to him, “is surely yet to come as Agile continues to blaze the trail in its sector."

Politics / Breaking: Akpabio Plots To Replace Chief Of Staff, Abba Kyari by Jerry5050pmg(m): 9:01am On Mar 03, 2019
BREAKING: AKPABIO PLOTS TO REPLACE CHIEF OF STAFF, ABBA KYARI

Following his loss at the just concluded National Assembly elections, former Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio has made fresh moves to replace current Chief of Staff to the president, Abba Kyari.

A source at the presidency revealed that Senator Akpabio in the last 48 hours has had a couple of meetings with close confidants of the president and top officials to discuss the move.

Akpabio is proposing that should the president appoint him, a Christian from the core southern part of Nigeria into such a sensitive office, the current notion that Mr President is shielded by a cabal controlling the affairs of the state will die a natural death.

Akpabio is expected to tie the knots on that appointment with President Muhammadu Buhari as the latter is scheduled to visit Akwa Ibom State on Monday on a thank you tour where he will have a town hall meeting with a cross section of people from all walks of life.

The presidential advanced team have already checked into Bexco Hotel and Suites, 24 Abel Damina Avenue, Osongama Estate, in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.

The other presidential advanced team scheduled to be in Imo State have moved over to Delta State in anticipation of the president's visit.

The presidential source revealed that part of the Akpabio's plan is to use the town hall parley in Uyo to instigate the audience to call for the redeployment of current top staff of INEC in the state, which should pave way for the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to take over the oil rich state.

The former Governor of Akwa Ibom State had made similar inroutes into the presidency during the Goodluck Jonathan era, knocking off the like of former Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, who eventually left the PDP in acrimonious circumstances.

Abba Kyari was appointed Chief of Staff to the president on 27th August 2015. He was preceded by Brig.-Gen Jones Oladehinde Arogbofa and Chief Mike Oghiadomhe, who both served under President Goodluck Jonathan.

Politics / Akwa-ibom INEC REC Removal Is “vendetta Against An Upright Man” by Jerry5050pmg(m): 1:15pm On Feb 19, 2019
Civil Society Group says APC call for Akwa-Ibom INEC REC removal is “vendetta against an upright man”

A Civil Society Organisation; the Society for Rule of Law in Nigeria (SRLN) has described the demand by the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole for the removal of the Akwa-Ibom State Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mike Igini as a function of vendetta against the REC over his refusal to “bend” and do the bidding of the APC, especially in the August 18, 2018 bye-election into the Port Harcourt Constituency III, Rivers State.

The group said the APC as a ruling party should not be seen as sending wrong signal to Nigerians and the international community that it was opposed to free, fair and credible elections, especially in Akwa-Ibom State where Igini, a known voice for a free, credible and transparent elections is the REC.

According to a statement on Monday, by its Co-coordinator, Dr. Chima Ubeku, the SRLN said it was uncharitable for a ruling party to go on national television to single out a REC just because he played prominent role in the refusal of INEC to award it victory in a Rivers State bye-election in which miscreants and hoodlums accompanied by heavily armed security personnel in uniform stormed the various polling units and registration areas disrupting voting activities, destroying and carting away election materials including smart card readers and ballot boxes as well as injuring many electoral officials.

It said the call for the redeployment of a REC a few days to major elections is nothing but the beginning of a calculated process to rig elections because when the new man comes, he will have no time to familiarize himself with the political structures on the ground.

The group called on INEC to disregard the call, describing Igini as one of the most upright officials of the commission.

The SRLN described Mike Igini is someone whose integrity and uprightness we as a group can vouch for. He is someone who can never be compromised by anyone and he has demonstrated that on many occasions, the recent being the last year’s botched election into the Port Harcourt Constituency III, Rivers State. Video of his courageous position on the election is online for anyone to see.

Igini had insisted that election must be conducted in a peaceful atmosphere which will allow voters to vote and leave the centre without grumbling. He described what happened on August 18, 2018 in Rivers State as a tragedy and shameful and highest level of electoral discredit.

It is on record that since then, the APC never hidden its dislike for him (Igini).

However, this will not remove the fact that he is one of the few Nigerians that we can close our eyes and recommend to pilot the affairs of INEC, even at the national level.

It is on record that in 2014, Igini openly criticized the ruling Peoples Democratic Party primary elections in Cross River State describing the primaries as being massively fraught with irregularities.

If the APC is afraid of him as shamelessly stated on live national television by its National Chairman, it should be obvious to all discerning minds that he (Igini) must have refused to be compromised by the party.

Calling for his redeployment at this time is therefore misguided, selfish and against the quest be Nigerians for a free, fair and credible elections.

Politics / Re: Attack On Inec Buses In Obot Akara Lga By Suspected Apc Hoodlums by Jerry5050pmg(m): 7:36am On Feb 17, 2019
PRESS RELEASE:

RE: ATTACK ON INEC BUSES IN OBOT AKARA LGA BY SUSPECTED APC HOODLUMS

We wish to draw the attention of the international community, civil right agencies and the general public to the continuous resort to violence by the All Progressives Congress, APC in an apparent attempt to paint a crisis scenario in Akwa Ibom State.

Specifically, we condemn in strong terms, the attack carried out on buses hired by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC for electoral duties, and on some persons in Obot Akara local government area. According to our findings, the ridiculous action was allegedly carried out by suspected APC thugs who wanted to truncate the smooth conduct of the election in the area. This, action corroborates our earlier disclosure that the APC plans to sponsor violent criminal operations that could enable its poorly orchestrated script for postponing the elections in Akwa Ibom State.

Let us sound it loud and clear that Obot Akara a PDP enclave, is home of the former deputy Governor and senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr. Chris Ekpenyong, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Sir Monday Ebong Uko as well as the Dean of the College of Personal Aides of the Governor, Elder Ufot Ebong, among others. This, in addition to the new roads and bridges built by the current administration of His Excellency Mr. Udom Emmanuel to reconnect the area with other parts of the state, cement the area as a stronghold of the PDP.

It is unfortunate that despite the repeated outcry against the threats to violence by leaders of the state’s opposition party, no significant action has been seen to be taken against such threats.

For example, the Caucus leader of the APC in Akwa Ibom on three different occasions in between August and September last year, threatened to unleash Warsaw in Akwa Ibom in a manner akin to the invasion of Poland by notorious German despot, Adolf Hitler. He made those boasts in a church, the town square and in his residence respectively, and the video clips are still available. As if not satisfied with that, Senator Godswill Akpabio went ahead to threaten that he will capture the state under three hours.

The Divine Mandate Campaign Organization wishes to echo for the umpteenth time that election is not war, and as such every attempt by the All Progressives Congress and its so-called Warsaw agents to instigate crises in the state, is hereby hugely condemned. We therefore call on security agents to fish out perpetrators of the dastardly act, and ensure that justice is not only done, but seen as being done.
We wish to conclude by reiterating the call by our leader and Governor, His Excellency Udom Emmanuel, that election will come and go, but the bond of unity in the state, should not be severed on the altar of politics.

Signed,
Otuekong Emmanuel Ibiok
Director, Public Communications

APC May Not Field Guber Candidate In Akwa-Ibom As Nsima Ekere Faces Disqualification …Accused Of N40bn Fraud

By Funmi Akinbolu

A Federal High Court in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State has been asked to disqualify the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the State, Nsima Ekere from contesting the March 2, 2019 governorship election over alleged non-resignation of his appointment as the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and allegation of N40 billion fraud, leading to his sack.

Nsima Ekere was said to have been dismissed from his position as NDDC Managing Director by President Muhammadu Buhari on January 25, 2019 over alleged over N40 billion fraud.

The suit number FHC/UY/CS/14/19 was filed on January 28, 2019, by the Indigenous Contractors of NDDC against Nsima Ekere, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and APC.

The plaintiffs are relying on Section 182(g) of the 1999 Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The plaintiffs want the court to determine; “Whether in view of the provision of Section 182(g) of the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, the 1st Defendant (Nsima Ekere) who did not resign, withdraw or retire from his employment as Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) but sacked/dismissed can be recognized by the 2nd defendant (INEC) to contest as a governorship candidate of the 3rd defendant (APC) in the forth coming elections slated for the 2nd of March 2019.”

They are seeking from the court; “A declaration that Nsima Ekere is not qualified for election to the office of Governor of the State slated for the 2nd March 2019 under the platform of the APC and should not be recognized by INEC having been sacked/dismissed from his employment as the Managing Director of the NDDC.”

In a nine paragraph affidavit sworn by the Indigenous Contractors of NDDC Ekere was also accused of embezzling N40 billion, which he allegedly used to acquire choice properties in Port Harcourt , Abuja and to also fund his campaign expenses.

The petitioners said over 50 protests were made against Ekere for his removal based on the alleged embezzlement and that it was the allegations that were upheld, leading to his sack.

The group had protested at the EFCC and National Assembly on January 21 and 22, 2019.

Sir,
CJN and Nsima Ekere: Different strokes?

Greetings. Just last week, the world has turned her attention to Nigeria, as usual for the wrong reasons. The Presidency under your control( though most times you claim ignorance of some actions) decided that the CJN should be tried for failing to declare some of his assets. The end game of that plot, being the removal of the CJN, was visible to any discerning person. The Code of Conduct Bureau, whose chairman was indicted by the EFCC for fraud, became the available vehicle for use, but before they could move any considerable distance, countless legal roadblocks were placed, impeding the journey to the pre-determined ignoble destination. Tired of waiting for what was clearly going to be a long and detailed process, you illegally intervened by suspending the Chief Justice and swearing in Justice Umar Tanko immediately.

Your admirers have commended the swiftness of your response and concomitant action on the CJN’s matter, but we intend to draw your attention to other pending criminal allegations which has either been swept under the carpet or moving at snail speed.
Rotimi Amaechi
The Director General of your campaign, Rotimi Amaechi was accused of unconscionable misappropriation and humongous fraud, investigated by a judicial panel of enquiry, found guilty and recommended for prosecution. But till date, nothing has happened in that direction. You went in to nominate him as a minister in your administration and he’s still serving till date.

Adams Oshiomole
The National Chairman of your Party has been accused of massive fraud during his administration, evidenced primarily by the erection of a multi billion naira residential village akin to that of mobutu Sese Seko. Court rulings and security reports available to you, unmistakably links this chairman of yours to corruption.

Godswill Akpabio and Unoma Akpabio
This duo have been accused of crude accumulation of wealth by converting public resources to private use. Before joining your party, he was being investigated for outright fraud, misappropriation, Misapplication and corruption. His choice property littered over Asokoro and Maitama in Abuja; Ikoyi,Victoria Island, Ikeja and Lekki in Lagos; mansions in his village, a bunker mansion and other luxury homes in uyo. These are in addition to the property in Dubai, London and America. His wife, Unoma whom we learnt was the supervising Commissioner of the Ministries of Environment and Women Affairs, owns schools in Lagos and Akwa Ibom State. Before joining your party, the EFCC was on her trail and in one of those times, marked the school in uyo as a property of interest. But since both jumped ship and crossed over to you, they have found absolute peace and freedoms from prosecution.

Abba Kyari
Your chief of staff and unarguably your closest ally, was fingered in the MTN fraud but nothing has been done about it. He has not been invited for questioning, neither has he been prosecuted in any court.

Abdulrasheed Maina
This pension fraud chieftain was not only smuggled into the country by too government officials, but was to be reinstated into the civil service and further promoted. Haba, Baba!

We know that the standard answer of your administration is “The President is not aware”. Assuming but not conceding that you are not aware of the above stated cases, let me bring this particular case which you handled on the same day as that of the CJN. The case of the tape of the NDDC treasury by Mr. Nsima Ekere.

As the Managing Director of NDDC for more than two years, he has been accused of large scale fraud, receiving bribes, contract splitting, breach of procurement laws, cronyism and embezzlement. Contractors and community representatives have lodged several petitions and complaints to the existing investigative agencies in the country, but absolutely nothing was done. Available information bears testimony to the fact that many financial infractions committed by the Nsima Ekere led board were brought to your attention and you acted by dissolving the board. As nice as this action of yours is, it falls far below acceptable standards, in fact that action is akin to a pat on the back. There was no directive for his prosecution or any other punitive measure. In fact, details of the infractions have been tucked away from public glare in a bid to shield him.

Mr. President, how moral or rational is it for you to take two decisions on the same subject matter, yet deal differently with persons involved. The CJN is not accused of illegally enriching himself, but of failing to declare his assets correctly. And in your judgment, you ignore the constitution of our country and suspend the gentleman. But, another person is accused of corruptly enriching himself and mismanagement of public funds and all you do is to dissolve the board without much more. People have alleged that, your stand on the NDDC issue is because the principal suspect, Nsima Ekere is a Governorship Candidate of your party in Akwa Ibom State(a state your party will do anything to capture). The idea is not to wash his dirty linen in public, so as not to negatively affect his political chances.

The question is, why do you apply different measures to different people in the same circumstance? Different strokes for different folks, right? The answer to this question is provided by the National chairman of your party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, when he confessed that as soon as criminals or those chased by security and prosecutorial agencies join the APC, their sins are forgiven and they are free. As odd and annoying as that statement may sound, we are live witnesses to its veracity under your administration.

Our prayers
We pray that you use your good offices to cause the following to occur :
1. The suspension of the Chairman of the CCT, Justice Danladi and his subsequent prosecution by the EFCC
2.Prosecution of Adams Oshiomhole, Godswill Akpabio, Unoma Akpabio, Rotimi Amaechi, Abba Kyari and all those accused of different financial crimes.

3. A direction to the EFCC to investigate and prosecute Mr. Nsima Ekere and other members of his board for numerous financial crimes, which they have been accused of with astonishing evidence.

We humbly appeal that in these remaining days of your administration, you cause fairness, equity and justice to serve as the basis of government actions. There is no need for the exhibition of bare faced and unpretentious desperation. The best you can at a time like this is to ensure a transparent electoral process, concede defeat and hand over to the winner on May 29,2019. We hope that you are learning from the Venezuela situation, where global powers have indicated their disapproval of warped electoral processes.

We wish you well in these remaining days of your administration.

GOVERNOR EMMANUEL CAUTIONS AKWA IBOM PEOPLE AGAINST 'CONSPIRATORS'

Ndifreke P. Akpan (Govt House)

Governor Udom Emmanuel has advised Akwa Ibom people to resist the alleged gang up by a group of self confessed conspirators, whose soul motivation is to loot the state and satisfy their personal interest.

The Governor who gave the advice during the Divine Mandate Campaign rally at Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area also cautioned politicians against allowing themselves to be misled.

Recounting the story of the biblical Esau, the State's Chief Executive noted that Akwa Ibom is established by God and as such the people should not sell their birthright for momentary pleasure.

He identified some projects undertaken in the area by the state administration including the intelligence Building for Multinationals, the 7km road leading the area to Nsit Atai and the cassava processing mill, among others.

In the same vein, the Senator representing Uyo in the red chambers, Senator Bassey Albert Akpan said they have been going from ward to ward campaigning for the re-election of Governor Emmanuel and other candidates, and assured the Governor that no amount of conspiracy against him will work noting that the God of Justice who gave eight years to Obong Victor Attah and Senator Akpabio will do same for the present Governor.

The member for Uyo Federal Constituency, Mr Mike Enyong said the people will reelect Governor Emmanuel because of his good works while the Speaker, State House of Assembly, Barrister Onofiok Luke charged Uyo Senatorial District to say no to conspiracy.

The State PDP Chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo advised the people against giving out their Permanent Voter Cards and be ready to vote all the party candidates during the elections.

Obong Ekpo told the people that the PDP represents peace and development that are verifiable and enjoined them not to be afraid.

The Director-General, Divine Mandate Campaign Organization, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga spoke on the need for the people to vote for Governor Emmanuel, who has performed satisfactorily and other PDP candidates for a prosperous future.

Coming from a different angle, a former state chairman of PDP and member state executive council, Mr Uwem Ita Etuk strongly warned against any attempt to rig the upcoming elections as the people are determined to resist such act.

He advised the NYSC members and others who may be engaged by the electoral body to assist in the conduct of the election to ensure that all the electoral materials are taken to the units.

The Commissioner for Finance, Mr Linus Nkan, the Local Government Chairman, Rt. Hon. Sylvester George, PDP Chapter Chairman, Elder Okon Edet Offiong, Chapter women PDP, Mrs Ime Orok, Youth Leader, Charles Etuk and others declared solidarity and determination to vote for the PDP candidates during the upcoming elections.

The Campaign rally also featured presentation of flags to the party candidates and reception of defectors from APC to PDP.

Earlier, the Paramount Ruler of Ibesikpo Asutan, Edidem Clement Ekpenyong spoke gladly about the efforts of Governor Emmanuel at developing the state and uniting the Ibibio Nation emphasizing that what is good for the goose is good for the gander.

The royal father, on behalf of his council members, presented a Sword and Bible to the Governor, wished him well in his second term bid and made requests for the renovation of the Mount Carmel Hospital, among other things.

Politics / Uruan Will Soon Commence Oil Production --governor Emmanuel by Jerry5050pmg(m): 4:00pm On Jan 22, 2019
_By Umoh-Obong Kingsley_

In his remarks, the former Governor of the State and DG of Divine Mandate Campaign organisation, Air Commodore, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga, stated that Governor Emmanuel has considered all the requirements and stands worthy of second term, adding that the peace currently enjoyed in the state has brought about development and prosperity among indigenes of the State.

Also speaking, State Chairman of PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo, noted that peace was restored in Akwa Ibom State since Governor Emmanuel's assumption of office in 2015.

He noted that no other governor has ever done for the people of Uruan like Udom Emmanuel.

Also speaking, the presiding member, Uruan Traditional Rulers Council, HRH Cosmas Nkanga, said that Uruan people want Udom Emmanuel back to Hilltop Mansion.

He said: "No royal father has been murdered, no kidnapping, no violence under Governor Emmanuel's watch," and described as an insult to Ibibio people for any man to wake up and try to scuttle the tide of development.

Chapter Chairman of PDP in Uruan, Hon Obot Okon Essien, in his goodwill message, pledged the resolve of the people to deliver the Governor in the forthcoming gubernatorial election, for all the developmental projects in Uruan including the Akwa Prime Hatchery, Cattle Ranch, reconstructed Ituk Mbang General Hospital and many others.

They maintained that people have never witnessed such development in the history of Uruan, saying that their block votes for Governor Udom Emmanuel is not negotiable.

Defectors from the APC recounted their ordeals, saying "We had carried the brooms for quite long but nothing to show for it. We were like slaves in APC. There is no more opposition in Uruan. We have all return to PDP. Federal might will not match with the unit might that we have here."

The campaign train of the Governor moved to Ibesikpo.

Politics / Governor Emmanuel Bags Independent Best Governor Award by Jerry5050pmg(m): 10:09pm On Jan 17, 2019
GOVERNOR EMMANUEL BAGS INDEPENDENT BEST GOVERNOR AWARD

Mr Udom Emmanuel, Governor of Akwa Ibom State was on Thursday night honoured as the Best Governor in Nigeria in Industrialization and Foreign Direct Investments 2018 by Independent Newspapers in Lagos.

The award ceremony which took place at the Eko Hotels, Lagos also had other prominent Nigerians like Senate President Bukola Saraki, Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, the Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu as well as the Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi conferred with awards in several categories.

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in 2017 and 2018 listed Akwa Ibom as one of the five states and the Federal Capital Territory being the most investor-friendly in the country.

Politics / 2019: Why Udom Emmanuel Will Win - Emmanuel Nicholas by Jerry5050pmg(m): 10:18am On Jan 08, 2019
2019: WHY UDOM EMMANUEL WILL WIN

Emmanuel Nicholas

In Akwa Ibom State the much awaited March 3rd governorship polls will be decided by many dynamics.

These dynamics will be productivity based and most importantly it will revolve around where mandate lies; the people.

Facts on ground makes it very clear even to anyone with eye defect that certainly the elections will be won by Governor Udom Emmanuel and lost by Obong Nsima Ekere. This prediction has been acknowledged widely even by political pundits. Below are few facts to buttress these points:

PDP, A RELIGION IN AKWA IBOM STATE

There is no gain saying that Akwa Ibom State is a stronghold of the PDP and clearly, it will remain so for the foreseeable future. Since the return of democracy on 29th, May 1999, today in the State, PDP has 31 Chairmen of Council, 329 councilors , 22 House of Assembly members out of 26, 8 Federal House of Representative members, 1 Senator, all the  Commissioners  and over 200 Aides of the Governor. Clearly, PDP lives in the very fabric of politics; the grassroots.

Judging from the last election in 2015, the electorate in the State gave over 95% of its votes at every election to the PDP.

In the March 28 Presidential polls 2015, the same feat was replicated as the PDP scored over 953, 304 to a miserly 57,000 for the APC Presidential candidate and eventual winner, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.

PDP is so entrenched across the 329 wards, State constituencies, Federal and Senatorial districts of the state and  to be uprooted so easily by  so called federal might will momentarily put APC in speculative advantage and  the result of  the election will ultimately prove  it  to be a mere wishful thinking and fluke political masturbation.

PEACE AND PROSPERITY

One major factor that will make both indigenes  and none indigenes alike  in Akwa Ibom State to vote for Governor Udom Emmanuel is the peace enjoyed today within the State. Before May 29th 2015, there were cases of wanton armed robbery attacks , kidnappings, political and economic motivated assassinations, ethnic violence -promoted through political interest, cult wars among other unprecedented social vices.

Today, Governor Udom Emmanuel have proscribed all the cult groups, there are no more killings, no kidnappings, no cult war and  zero communal crises.

Consequently, security agencies  in Nigeria now evaluate Akwa Ibom State as  the most peaceful State in Nigeria, with 0.5 crime rate. How thankful we are for the peaceful administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel.

It is a known norm that wherever you have peace and security, the accompaniment is prosperity, and today the State have witnessed drastic rise in foreign  investment. This is  why the National Bureau of Statistics rated Lagos as the first State, followed by  Akwa Ibom, Ogun as the most investors-friendly destinations in the country in 2017 / 2018 . The report also showed that while Akwa Ibom, which is a major tourism hub of the country, attracted $18.361m capital importation. The Bureau noted that the year’s record showed a 27.75 percent improvement over the country’s achievements of previous years. Akwa Ibom State is presently experiencing rapid economic transformation, much faster than the Nigerian average. The quality of life index has grown to more than 300% in only few years now.

UYO SENATORIAL DISTRICT: AGENDA 2023

Another reason Udom Emmanuel will win is the strong morality and adherence to zoning in the State. Since zoning has come to stay, Uyo Senatorial District will not want to mortgage their turn in 2023. They will not want to gamble their turn by mere political mantra of one term. Who has ever kept such promise?

So, choosing Nsima Ekere will mean another eight years of waiting instead of four years with Udom. Uyo Senatorial District has the highest voting strength, more than one million voters as indicated by indices from the last voter’s registration, higher than the two other Senatorial Districts put together.

So whoever the people of Uyo Senatorial District will support, becomes  the winner of the poll in Akwa Ibom State, in this case the people of Uyo Senatorial District both in PDP and APC are in support of Governor Udom Emmanuel to ensure USD secure their  turn in 2023.

ORO NATION POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC INCLUSION

Oro nation will be no go Area for APC as successive Government have abandoned the area  both with development and political inclusion but Governor Udom Emmanuel is committed to ensure that the entire State benefit from the developments  promoted by his Government. He has put words to action.

Udung Uko Local Government Area for the first time since its creation have seen 14.7 kilometer road, linking the locality to both Oron and Urueoffong–Oruku Local Government Areas, the construction of the Secretariat road in Udung Uko is the maiden Government presence  in that riverine community .

It is on record that Oron Local Government in the Immediate past Administration had nineteen roads awarded but sadly only witnessed the construction of only three in the eight years tenure of then Governor Akpabio.

Conversely, Governor Udom Emmanuel in his first year constructed and commissioned six roads.  The roads are Bassey Lane, Bassey Street, Awana Esin, Efiat Lane, Efiat Street, Maryanne  and Post Office Street. And right now another five roads are currently under construction and at different stages of completion; these are Abastonite, Muritala, Old Oron Road, Beach Street and Udesi Street.

Apart from the Oron town, Governor Udom Emmanuel is constructing a dual carriageway from Airport Road to Okopedi and from Okopedi  to East West Road in Oron town, while constructing  55.5  kilometer Ibaka Superhighway which starts from Ukpenekang  Junction and will terminates at East West Road in Oron too. The superhighway will connect Mbo, Udung Uko and Oron through a 12 Lanes carriageway with provision for rail lines .

In Mbo, Governor Udom Emmanuel have intensified work on the completion  of Etebi-Ewang Bridge, the road section  have been completed, while  work on the  bridge have gone above 75 percent, the  Governor  had constructed and commissioned  access road to the tank farm in Mbo.

In Okobo, apart from the dual carriageway, the State Government have awarded the construction of Atabong Road,   while a brand new General Hospital have been initiated  by Governor Emmanuel’s Government to further avail the locals access to qualitative healthcare.

On economic inclusion, Governor Udom Emmanuel will soon commence work on the construction of Ibaka Deep SeaPort as an International seaport construction company and Seaport managers from China have won the bid to construct the deep seaport.

On political inclusion, this is the first time Oro Nation have witnessed the massive amount of appointments of their Sons and daughters into Government, Oro nation is today blessed with the Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government, the first in the history of Oro nation, over 23 Board Appointment, 34 Aides to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State and three Commissioners.

With infrastructural development, economic empowerment and political inclusion.

Understanding that Oro nation have a better deal understand Governor Udom Emmanuel come 2023 must have made a reputable son of Oro nation and a former gubernatorial candidate in Akwa Ibom State, Mr Larry Esin to state that the scheme by some persons to replace Governor Udom Emmanuel  Obong Nsima Ekere in the forthcoming gubernatorial election is an insult on the people of Oron Nation.

Esin who said this on his verified Facebook page recently clearly maintained that the plan orchestrated by former governor Akpabio is not in the interest of Oron people and will be resisted.

He stated " To want to replace Udom Emmanuel with Nsima Ekere from Eket Senatorial district is an insult on the Oron Nation. The Oron people will not allow such insult. Any Oro son or daughter that supports Akpabio and Nsima is a betrayer of the Oro cause. Oro will support Udom Emmanuel."

Yes, Governor Udom Emmanuel will win Oro nation come March 2019 and Nsima Ekere does not stand any chance of having up to 20 percent of votes from Oro nation, as he has deceived the leaders of Oro nation with fake contract papers and he has not used his office as the MD of NDDC to develop Oro nation in any part nor appoint any son or daughter of the area as his Aide or consultant.

IKOT SENATORIAL DISTRICT – ABAK FIVE AND MARGINALIZED LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS

In Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District as a whole, Nsima Ekere stands no chance. The Annang Nation as a whole will support their son In-law, really Abak five will be votes basket for Governor Udom Emmanuel, whose wife is from Oruk Anam and Deputy from Abak.

Obot Akara, Ini and Ikono Local Government Areas will be another basket full of votes for Governor Udom Emmanuel as their localities were once marginalized by all previous Government and Governor Udom Emmanuel have constructed Nto-Edino –Ekwarasu Road with two nos of Bridges and Ikot Ekpene–Obot Akara Road in Obot Akara  Local Government , linking the two Local Government through the hinterlands. Ini Local Government is one locality that never witnessed the presence of Government since the creation of Akwa Ibom State.

But Governor Udom Emmanuel who is out to ensure he spread development to all the nook and crannies of the State without any iota of political or economic motivated marginalization, he has constructed the Obotme –Aruchukwu Road which was cut into two by gully erosion and also constructed a brand new 115m dual bridge to replace the old one which had collapse long ago and made the road impassable.

Apart from the Obotme Road, Governor Udom Emmanuel has also constructed the road leading to the rice Mill, and has also built for Ini Local Government the first functional  Rice Mill in Akwa Ibom State in his fulfillment of his vision to industrialize the State.

IBIBIO RACE AND AKPABIO AFRONT

Ibibio control about 23 Local Government Areas in Akwa Ibom State out of the 31 Local Government Areas in the State, the fourth largest ethnic group in Nigeria sees the Candidature of Nsima Ekere, though an Ibibio son as confrontation by Godswill Obot Akpabio to ridicule them and cause division among the ethnic group, while installing himself as the leader of Akwa Ibom State politically.

The assessment was confirmed when both Chief Godswill Akpabio and Nsima Ekere snubbed the coronation of Oku Ibom Ibibio, the king of Ibibio land, an action many Ibibio Elders sees as an open affront and open slur on a well-respected tribe in Nigeria. To this end the entire Ibibio race have resolved to support Governor Udom Emmanuel in rejection of Sen Akpabio evil imposition, this conviction is also borne from the fact that so many times people have recorded Akpabio in his private Annang meetings that he wants to use Nsima Ekere and scatter the Ibibios, and teach them the harsh political lesson of the power of minority over majority.

INDUSTRALIZATION AND JOB CREATION

This is another major aspect that will make Governor Udom Emmanuel emerge the winner is his Superior Performance and fulfillment of election promises in all sectors. In industrialization sub-sector, Governor Udom Emmanuel has shown truly that he has international exposure to attract foreign investment to the State.

He has attracted fifteen industries so far, these are Jubilee Syringe, Meter Solution Manufacturing Company, Lion Plywood Limited, Kings flour Mill, St. Gabriel Coconut Refinery, Fertilizer Blending Plant , Tooth Pick and Pencil industries, Plastic factory, Rice Mill, Construction of 33 Cassava Micro-processing mills are all ongoing projects in the economic diversification agenda of the Governor. Lastly, the resuscitation of Peacock Paint Industry and refurbishing of Cassava Processing Factories located at Ikot Okudom, Eket Local Government Area; Nung Udoe, Ibesikpo/Asutan Local Government Area and Ikot Ekang in Abak LGA which was leased to private operators for the production of High Quality Garri, Odourless foofoo and Cassava flour are examples of revived factories which were once in a comatose state and made operational.

HIS PERFORMANCE

Governor Udom Emmanuel has performed better than any Government in Akwa Ibom State , in their first term. He has constructed over 1700km of roads  and 43 bridges , Uyo metropolis alone has benefited  massively ,as over 74 roads have been constructed . As at today there is almost no local Government Area without one road construction project.

In health sector, Governor Udom Emmanuel has revived the Etinan General Hospital, Ikot Okoro General Hospital, Ikono General Hospital, Ituk Mbang General Hospital and currently building brand new General Hospital in Onna and Okobo. The reconstruction of this hospitals does not end with buildings but he has reequiped the health institution with modern healthcare equipment and above all the Elderly, children under five and pregnant women are receiving free healthcare services.

In education , Governor Udom Emmanuel has constructed over 3500 class room blocks across the State ,reequipped  them with modern desks and new  laboratory apparatus  to the schools. His administration has also carried out payment of  WACE and NECO  fees to all  students in public secondary schools. This initiative has cost the State over 600 million naira yearly.

Governor Udom Emmanuel has attracted Air Force School , Police School , Navy School  and Military schools to Akwa Ibom State in the last three years.  In his mission to give prominent to girl Child education , Governor Udom has commissioned Modern Model Girls school in Abak to improve the Girl Child education .  He has assisted the Akwa Ibom State University to get full accreditation for 33 courses  ,while building Tv /Radio Studios , Administration block, Computer laboratory , and also construct all internal roads.

On Agriculture , Governor Udom Emmanuel Government is the reason there is food sufficiency in the State , as garri now is 12 cups for two hundred naira against three cups for the same amount when he assumed office . The State Government has planted over 5000 acres of cassava , 10,000  hectares of cocoa , 56 acres of rice and today Akwa Ibom State has a rice mill and family rice is sold in the market .

In the State today, there is hatchery that produces over 200,000 chic every month. There are green houses for cultivation of vegetables  and mushrooms  and AKEES initiative   are planting vegetables farms all over the State . Our people no more depend solely on the northern State for Tomatoes ,Onions , garrotes, cucumber  and watermelon .

As regards Power sub-sector, most places in Akwa Ibom State now enjoy over 20 hours of power courtesy Governor Udom Emmanuel Government who has provided power sub-station at Airport, four lane in Uyo and Ekim in Mkpat Enin . His Government has connected to national grid over 400 communities, improve the generation of Ibom power plant to 167 megawatts  , while receiving license for additional 450 megawatts.

Governor Udom Emmanuel Success at the poll is very certain as the entire State is rooting for him, the State is made up of 99 percent Christians and the entire Christians in the State sees Udom as their candidate because of his Christ-like manners coupled with the fact that he is a man of peace.

So come 2nd of March 2019, the electorate will joyously return Governor Udom Emmanuel as their Governor till 2023.

Politics / Police Rescues Abducted Youth Leader From Apc Gov Candidate by Jerry5050pmg(m): 6:09pm On Jan 05, 2019
POLICE RESCUES ABDUCTED YOUTH LEADER FROM APC GOV CANDIDATE

Police in Akwa Ibom Friday stormed the home of APC governorship candidate Mr Nsima Ekere, where a popular youth leader Mr. Emmanuel Sunday Ekpuk, alias Young King, was rescued from abduction and torture in Edemaya,
Ikot Abasi Local Government Area.

It was gathered that youths who were suspected as members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) numbering over 70 abducted the youth leader who has maintained his support for the PDP and Governor Udom Emmanuel's reelection.

The victim (Ekpuk) was taken to the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital for treatment after he was rescued by the men of the Nigeria Police in Ikot Abasi.

Ekpuk who narrated his ordeal in the hands of his abductors, told our reporter that his attackers stormed his residence in Ikot Okpok, one of the 23 villages that make up Edemaya clan, at about 7.30 in
the morning in a convoy of four cars and 30 motorcycles and started shooting sporadically into the air to scare away those around, before he was captured and driven away in the booth of one of the cars.

The victim was allegedly accused of promoting Governor Udom Emmanuel, instead of his brother Nsima Ekere, and was seen as a major force against Ekere's moves to control the youths in Ikot Abasi, his hometown.

With injuries all over his head and parts of his body, Ekpuk explained how the assailants made a stopover at two locations where he was brutalised
before finally ending up in the family compound of the APC governorship candidate in Ikot Oborenyin, Edemaya, where he was then handed over to Chief Gabriel Ekere the father of
Nsima Ekere before the police arrived and rescued him.

The Divisional Crime Officer in Ikot Abasi who led the rescue team said they swung into action following a distress call to his station about the abduction of the youth leader, and headed straight for Edemaya where the victim was rescued and then taken to the hospital for treatment, given his state of health as at the time of rescue.

When our reporter visited the hospital, a team of medical personnel was seen battling to stabilise the condition of the victim, while a detachment from the State anti kidnapping Squad of the Police Headquarters in Ikot Akpan Abia also engaged the victim in further interrogation.

Meanwhile it was revealed that it took the intervention of the member representing Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo State Constituency at the State House of Assembly, Hon. Uduak Odudoh before what would have turned
out a ‘day of blood’ was averted in the Edemaya community as he (Odudoh) stopped the youths from the victim’s village and his other followers from a reprisal attack on the assailants.

Politics / Being The Speech By Gov. Udom Emmanuel During The Solemn Assembly@ibom Hall, uyo by Jerry5050pmg(m): 1:52pm On Jan 02, 2019
BEING THE SPEECH BY HIS EXCELLENCY, MR. UDOM EMMANUEL, GOVERNOR, AKWA IBOM
STATE DURING THE SOLEMN ASSEMBLY, 2019
IBOM HALL GROUNDS, UYO
JANUARY 2ND, 2019

PROTOCOL

YOU ARE GOD, YOU ALONE

Akwa Ibom people, praise the Lord!

1.Let me on behalf of the Government and the good people of Akwa Ibom State wish you all, a Happy New Year! This year will be one of continuous prosperity, of peace, of unity, of oneness and of rejection of every known instrument of division in our Land. It will be a year of wholesome repudiation of violence and of the plans of those who want to sell our commonwealth to the highest bidders without regards to our collective welfare or those of our children. This year will be one where Akwa Ibom interest will, and MUST supersede the interest of an individual or groups.

2.I love the theme of this year’s Solemn Assembly: You are God, You Alone, derived from II Kings, Chapter 19 verse 19. This land is named after God, Akwa Abasi Ibom State and He alone dictates, arranges, manages, defines and shapes what happens here. No instrument of man can change the course of God’s plans for our State and our people, no devices of man or the naysayers, their lies, their much vaunted Warsaw saw war battle cry, their promise to deploy Federal might to forcefully take over our State, will stand. My dear Akwaibomites, it is shameful that our so-called leaders can sit and cut deals to mortgage the future of Akwa Ibom State and imperil the future of our children just to gain power and they have the audacity to come and tell you they are working to protect your interest.

3.For some time now, men, I mean mere mortals have told you they alone can determine the course of your destiny, they have told you they alone have the answers to your problems; they have told you that if you fail to follow their laid down rules or travel the path they have charted for you, that they will visit violence on you and your children.

4.Let me pause and ask you a few questions: Do they know that the children they want to use to unleash their planned violence on you are your children? Do you know that their children are all living in the best parts of the world, attending the best schools, living in the choicest parts of major cities in the world, yet they want to use your children to unleash violence on you?

5.As we usher in this New Year, when they tell you of their evil and devilish plans, inform them that what Udom Emmanuel has been doing for the past three and half years is to secure the future of our children, so they too, can aspire to go to the best schools as their children, that they too, can have a safe and secure future as their children, tell them that you desire to live in a safe, secure and violence - free environment and that their selfish desires and ambitions will not push you to sacrifice the collective good over their selfish interest. Tell them that the proud sons and daughters of Akwa Abasi Ibom State have never been led by nose by one person; no single person can play God in this State, that what we have achieved so far has been because of ONLY GOD, and He Alone will allow the Right man to continue his good works.
6.Fellow Akwaibomites, this is a critically important year, a year you will make consequential decisions; a year that will determine if you will continue to live in peace and prosperity or return to the dark and scary years of kidnapping, of violence, of politically motivated killings, the era when men played God and you were too scared to lift your voices or raise your hands to complain without being murdered or kidnapped. This year is a critical year, an election year that will determine if the Akwa Ibom story will continue to be written in glowingly terms or a return to the ugly and dark chapters when the resources of this land were used to build monuments of little consequence to your everyday lives, when applause meant more to them than a careful application of the enormous resources available then to secure the future of our children. This is the stark choice you have to make.

7.When I was inaugurated three and half years ago, you will recall the first assignment I had performed was to raise my hands in supplications to the Lord and asked Him to sanitize this land and forgive us of all transgressions we may have committed in the past. The clear and immediate signal of what I did that day, was to let you my dear people know that as the Land of Promise, the Land that is named after God, my Administration will be Christ-centric, people-centric and morally just and defined.

8.That has been the centre of everything we have done, and you can see the reflection of that key value in the way we have run our Government. That is the reason why on the Second Day of January every year, we come together in a Solemn Assembly to give thanks to God for His love during the preceding year and to turn over the affairs of this State in the New Year to Him. Three and half years later, He has not disappointed us.
9.That is the reason why our State is moving forward, attracting investors across the globe, enjoying peace and progress; Uyo becoming one of the fastest growing cities in the world according to the influential publication, The Economist. That is the reason why we are able to embark on numerous capital projects when others can’t even pay the salaries of their workers; the reason why we are expanding and consolidating our infrastructural amenities such as the construction and commissioning or on-going works on over 1700 kilometres of roads, remodelling of numerous secondary health facilities such as Etinan, Ikot Okoro, Ituk Mbang, Iquita, Ikono, Emmanuel Hospitals, Eket, ONLY GOD made this possible.

10.Let me reiterate this point: I didn’t come here to build monuments or white elephant projects so you may celebrate me on the pages of newspapers, the television channels or the social media platforms. I did not come here to seek applause or to create a cult of personality. I did not come here to play God or act as the only person with the wisdom or the solutions to all our problems; I came here to serve you as your Servant-Leader, to feel your pulse, your anxieties and, to work hard to solve our problems based on the resources we have been availed. That is what I have done in the past three and half years, and I intend to continue doing so, from May 29, this year, after you would have sent me back to the Hilltop Mansion to continue as your Servant-Leader.

11.The resources available to our people have been used to take care of our people. Soon, Akwa Ibom State will blaze the trail as the only State in the nation if not the entire Africa to have a wholly owned and run Airline - The Ibom Air. This should be something that brings joy to our people, but some mischief makers who once had the opportunity to embark on projects that directly affect our lives, but instead chose to indulge in monuments that today stand as shameful relics of an era of megalomania, would come and try to play God and think our people are so gullible to be sold loads of lies again. Everything we have done has been to improve the standard of living of our people; from our investments in agriculture, to the empowerment of our youths and women, to education, these are needed values in our lives, yet the opposition will tell you these great achievements do not exist.

12.In the next one and half months, my dear people, we will go to the polls to elect our leaders, and as the theme of this event so eloquently states, it is God alone that will determine who governs us; it is He alone who will determine the course of our growth and development, it is He alone who will guarantee us a violence-free elections; it is He alone who will shame the plans and the machinations of mere mortals.

13.I therefore, urge you our dear Akwaibomites, not to give in to lies of certain individuals who when they had the opportunity to establish industries in this State did nothing, but to erect white elephant projects and monuments. The same people who had promised you 31 industries in 31 local government areas but could not establish even a pure water making factory are back together, promising you heaven on earth. Do not believe them!

14.We came here and promised you industrialization, we have fulfilled that promise. We have as of today, 15 industries, verifiable industries in this State, we promised you quality education for our children, we have fulfilled that promise, we promised you quality healthcare, we have done exactly that, we promised you an improvement in our agricultural output so we can feed our people, we have done that, we promised you improved electricity, you are all witnesses to this undeniable fact that our electricity has improved significantly. We promised our youths, our women and our elders, traders empowerment, we have done just that. As they say, a good job executed demands more job to be done. That is what I am committed to doing when you return me to the Hilltop Mansion.

15.Let us therefore, say no to agents of blackmail and lies. Let us reject those who have refused to see the good things we are doling to take our State to a higher level of development. The Nation is celebrating us, from the Ooni of Ife - His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi who two days ago at Asan Ibibio, went further to eulogize our achievements, to the Emir of Kano, His Royal Highness, Muhammadu Sanusi 11 who brought investors here and told the world, our State is so peaceful and welcoming to foreign investors, which had prompted him to bring those investors here, the World Bank Country Director, Rachid Benmessaoud who said in 2017 that Akwa Ibom State is the best place to do business, to the inspiring and ringing endorsement of our former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo (GCFR). These are men of stature and credibility, yet the opposition elements here will tell you the roads we have built do not exist, the industries we have attracted do not exist, the hospitals we have remodelled do not exist, the electricity they are enjoying do not exist, the quality public schools and teachers we have recruited are non-existence or the affordable food items they now enjoy do not exist. Soon, they will tell you the IBOM AIR does not exist. It is sad to see a political party adopting lies as a campaign strategy and they expect the people to take then serious?

16.My dear Akwa Ibomites, let me end this speech by thanking God for all that He has done for our State and what He has used me to do in the past three and half years. Let me again pledge to you that I will continue to lead you according to the plans of the Almighty. I will continue to ensure you live in peace, our environment is safe and secure, you will not be killed, kidnapped, or intimidated or go to bed with one eye open because of fear of insecurity. I came here to serve you, and I will never sacrifice the collective interest of our people for selfish gains. Power flows from God and HE ALONE gives power to which He wants. ONLY GOD is the source of our power, and to Him alone we submit ourselves as we seek your support to continue the good works we stated together three and half years ago. Happy New Year again my dear brothers and sisters. Akwa Ibom Edakadda, ami mme dakkdada!

Politics / Esit Eket Women Vow To Deliver Gov. Emmanuel ...says Apc Is A Failed Party. by Jerry5050pmg(m): 11:42pm On Dec 31, 2018
ESIT EKET WOMEN VOW TO DELIVER GOV. EMMANUEL

...SAYS APC IS A FAILED PARTY.

Barely few hours into the celebration of a new year, women across Ward 1 in Esit Eket LGA have resolved to unite and work for the success of the Akwa Ibom State PDP gubernatorial candidate Mr. Udom Emmanuel to emerge victorious in the forthcoming general elections.

Addessing hundreds of the women who converged at Ekpeneobo town hall for Christmas celebration, Dr. Adiakpan urged them to sustain their tempo in mobilising support for the PDP.

Dr. Adiakpan said it was important to bring the women together and to make them partake in the Christmas season which signify love and peace. She noted that the leading party (APC) at the centre is a party known for lies, deception and failed representation.

"The only way Nigerians can experience good governance, peace, security and progress is by voting out APC at all levels in the forthcoming general elections" She added.

She appealed to the women to collaborate with other stakeholders and eligible voters in the area in supporting Udom Emmanuel PDP led-administration till 2023.

The special Christmas gathering / town hall meeting was jointly organized by Dr. Ini Adiakpan, Mrs. Becky Asindi, Obonganwan Nko and other prominent female political heavyweights in ward 1, Esit Eket LGA.

Also speaking, the PDP ward chairman for ward 1, Mr. Assam Harry charged the women not to relent in their effort to advocate the exceptional leadership disposition and unprecedented achievements of the incumbent pragmatic Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel.

Assam who commended the women for defying all odds to support Udom Emmanuel re-election described Buhari APC led-admistration as "a non purposeful government lacking in chatacter and integrity" posited that the sufferings, killings and hardships which have taken over the country today are clear manifest of the APC poor leadership. He solicited support from across the women groups to vote for all PDP candidates come 2019.

Highpoint of the event was donation of cash support, bags of rice, gift items and special Christmas packages put together by the ward PDP chairman, Mr. Harry, Mrs. Becky Asindi and Obonganwan Nko.

Politics / 2019: Buhari’s Campaign Flag-off! A Re-affirmation Of Victory For Gov Emmanuel by Jerry5050pmg(m): 10:26am On Dec 31, 2018
2019 Elections: Buhari’s Campaign Flag-off Re-affirms Support, Victory For Gov Emmanuel, PDP In A’ Ibom

As the presidential campaign flag off for President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term in office ended last Friday in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom capital, many Nigerians have become more resolute in their support for Governor Udom Emmanuel, while many others are throwing their weight and support behind the governor, towards his re-election for a second term in office.

This is coming as a result of a deflated ostentatious brag of the All Peoples Congress (APC), in the state, prior to the hosting of the presidential campaign flag off.
It could be recalled that days preceding the presidential flag-off, the streets and social media was awash with stories and claims aimed at sending shivers down the spine of the supporters of Gov Emmanuel.

Amongst the numerous stories were claims, allegedly rolled out by the APC propaganda machinery that a shocking number of top ranking functionaries in Gov Emmanuel’s government, including members of his executive council, local government chairmen, personal aides, as well as major PDP officers and stalwarts, were set to decamp during the presidential flag-off.

Unfortunately, not only did any of the touted functionaries not decamp, but the support base of the APC which was also claimed to be massive, was put to question, given the very low turn-out of APC supporters at the Nest of Champions, venue of the supposed auspicious occasion of the party that was not just an Akwa Ibom State affair, but a South-South campaign rally.

President Buhari himself played to the gallery, to further reaffirm Gov Emmanuel, and the PDP in the heart of the people who have realized and are happy with the tremendous developmental strides the PDP government led by the governor is achieving in the state, when the President could not mention a single project he has brought to the state, nor was he able to promise the state a single project if voted in for a second term in office as President.

Meanwhile, in a swift show of solidarity and support to the governor, millions of youths in the state gathered separately in their different senatorial districts on Saturday, a day after the Presidential campaign flag-off in the state, to thank the Gov. Emmanuel and pledge utmost support for his re-election.

Over eighty per cent of the people who spoke with our reporters, across the local government areas of the state, about the presidential campaign flag-off and Gov Emmanuel’s second term bid, said the governor should not be intimidated by any antics from whatever quarters, as the right thinking people of Akwa Ibom State are very much behind him and will vote him into office in the coming election.

While many of the respondents opined that if President Buhari does not have anything to offer Akwa Ibom, nothing would make anybody believe the President will support his party’s governorship candidate in the state to succeed.

The backlash of the claims precedent to the Presidential campaign flag-off in the state has also visited the social media, as jeers over the alleged claims have been constantly posted by Nigerians on social media.

Etinan General Hospital: An Example of Udom’s Midas Touch in Healthcare Delivery

By Uwemedimoh Umanah

It was Mother Theresa of Calcutta who said: ' let us touch the dying, the poor, the unwanted according to the grace we have received and let us not be ashamed or slow to the good works'.

Some days ago, I paid a visit to General Hospital Etinan. I must say that what I saw was a testimony that the Akwa Ibom Government, under Governor Udom Emmanuel has the grace to touch the poor, the dying and the needy, through a deliberate health sector revolution.

During his 2015 electioneering campaigns, the Governor made Wealth Creation a cardinal agendum of his 5- Point Agenda. He noted that it's only a healthy population that can be wealthy and employed. In his opinion, the optimum population (comprising of those in the productive age) should be given the enablements to thrive, hence his health sector reforms which has monumental implications as seen in the Etinan General Hospital.

The ambience of the hospital, characterized by a natural ecosystem and architectural landscape were psychologically relieving. The Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, a Europe trained O&G Consultant, Dr Essiet Ime was right on ground to give my crew insights into the ongoing revolution in the health sector of the state with specific reference to the hospital.

I must say without any fear of contradiction that the hospital is one of the most equipped secondary health facilities in Nigeria.
This submission is premised on a juxtapositional assessment of the decaying state of public hospitals in Nigeria versus the state -of -the arts facilities and numerous qualified personnel at the disposal of Etinan General Hospital.

I personally witnessed a new culture and consciousness of dynamism in the management of medical emergencies. From the manner doctors conducted caesarean session in the theaters, the number of personnel in all the wards and departments to the sophisticated equipments, tells a story of quantum leap and a glorious dawn.

My discussion with Dr Essiet Ime was revealing and informative. He expressed appreciation to the Akwa Ibom State government for ensuring that the Hospital ranks among the best public hospitals in the country. "Etinan Hospital was a forgotten place. The governor decided to visit some months after his swearing in, and the memorable visit has given birth to the massive turnaround you are seeing today", he said.

As an eye -witness who spoke with beneficiaries of government's magnanimous health policies and programs, I must say that one aspect of the hospital worthy of note is that it's the bastion of the free medical services for pregnant women (undergoing ante natal care), children under the age of 5 and the the aged 65years and above.

This makes it the more imperative because rural women, according to the United Nations Secretary General, Ban Kimoon, are the backbone of the sustainable livelihood and provide food security for their families and communities.

Mrs Iquo Essien who was undergoing antenatal care said that she has been doing that free of charge in the hospital. "We are not charged any amount of money during checkups and sometimes, drugs are given to pregnant women by nurses free...", she said.

The Pharmaceutical Department of the hospital cannot go unnoticed. There, I met over 5 pharmacists and a pharmacologist on call who were were busy with their daily routines. Drug shelves are well stocked while the Head of Unit was on ground to supervise his team, in a manner that depicted 'shared responsibility'.

Can words alone describe the numbers of lives being saved by the hospital on a daily basis following Governor Udom Emmanuel's intervention? Can a mere 'thank you' convey the reward of a man who has saved many lives by putting up this life- touching project?

The Medical Superintendent, Dr Essiet Ime could not be conceal his enthusiasm by lavishing accolades on the Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel. In his words, "mere words cannot appreciate the benevolence of His Excellency, the Governor. I have worked for several years but this is the first time I'm really touched by an intervention by a government in a medical facility...therefore the management and staff of the hospital also rely on the efficacy of devotion session conducted every friday morning to give thanks to God for using Governor to upgrade the Etinan General Hospital".

To this end, it's pertinent to address the mendacious falsehood peddled by sponsored agents of the opposition APC in the state that the hospital was not built by him and that he doesn’t have a signature project. Governor Udom Emmanuel is not jostling for anyone’s attention in this regard. Udom’s signature project is ‘the Akwa Ibom people’- capable of engendering sustainable livelihood in the state, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

If these agents of doom have the best interest of the state and its people at heart, they should be thankful to the Governor whom God is using to save lives in the state through his proactive engagement in the healthcare delivery system of the state.

Let me end this brief 'excursion' with the words of Dalai Lama, the 14th Monk of the Gelug School, "love and compassion are necessities not luxury. Without them, humanity cannot survive".

Governor Udom Emmanuel is an exemplification of love and compassion for Akwa Ibom people. It's only a person in his genre that is capable of holding the people at heart.

The 2019 gubernatorial elections therefore would be a choice between light and darkness, between prosperity and doom and above all, between moving forward or moving backwards!

Udom is represents light, prosperity and advancement... Akwa Ibomites cannot bargain for the lesser ONE.

Politics / How Buhari Snubbed Akpabio's Ukana Reception by Jerry5050pmg(m): 2:42am On Dec 29, 2018
How Buhari snubbed Akpabio's Ukana reception

Reliable facts have it that former governor of Akwa Ibom state, Senator Godswill Akpabio is feeling despondent over his inability to host President Buhari at his Ukana residence after the flag-off of the presidential campaign in Uyo. It can be recalled that Akpabio and wife, Unoma successfully lured Mrs. Aisha Buhari to their Ukana home when the president's wife visited the state recently. It is gathered that Akpabio also made all efforts to lure the president to his home country but failed as the president snubbed him.

Akpabio, it is learnt, had made all preparations at his country home in Ukana with the hope that the he will successfully host the President to further boost his ego. To show how desperately the former governor wanted to host the President, reliable information has it that he had lobbied to ensure that the visit to Ukana was included in the President's itinerary. Perhaps, having successfully squeezed the Ukana visit into the President's itinerary, Akpabio started bragging. However, with the President's snub, Akpabio is feeling downcasted. He has even accused some members of the APC of being behind the snub by badmouthing him to the presidency.
Politics / Buhari Promises Nothing For Akwa Ibom;two Ministers Escape Death At Apc Rally by Jerry5050pmg(m): 7:10pm On Dec 28, 2018
AGAIN BUHARI PROMISES NOTHING FOR AKWA IBOM
...TWO MINISTERS ESCAPE DEATH AT APC CAMPAIGN FLAG-OFF

There is no hope of any project for Akwa Ibom on the cards of the Next Level campaign of the All Progressives Congress led by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Addressing a stadium which was nearly empty at the time of his speech, President Buhari failed to acknowledge any progress he had brought to Akwa Ibom in the last three and a half years, and also failed to commit himself to any development in the state if re-elected.

“When we came in there was insecurity in Nigeria and 17 local governments were under the control of Boko Haram, now no local government is being controlled by Boko Haram again,” he said, promising to continue to fight corruption and poverty.

Meanwhile a brawl involving the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs Pastor Usani Usani, his supporters and supporters of the Governorship candidate of APC in Cross River State, Senator John Enoh led to some bloody faces as the Minister narrowly escaped during the onslaught and fled the stadium before the arrival of the president and his entourage.
Usani despite being declared loser in the Cross River APC primaries insists he is the candidate of the party and mobilized his supporters to the venue of the campaign, only to be resisted by John Enoh’s men who easily had the upper hand in the fracas that damaged some facilities at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

The same scenario was witnessed between the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachukwu and the supporters of Great Ogboru, Governorship Candidate of APC in Delta State.
Kachukwu was beaten to a pulp and was only rescued by some security details who whisked him away to safety.

Recently a group, Buhari Movement for Change (BMC) had in an open letter to the President, alleged that Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, is working hand-in-hand with the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to frustrate the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Highpoint of the event was the presentation of party flags to the four governorship candidates of the party in the South South states of Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Delta and Cross River.

One of those who spoke at the event , Minister for Transportation and Director General of the Buhari’s 2019 Campaigns, Rotimi Amaechi said PDP had failed the country for sixteen years, but contradicted himself by saying that Akwa Ibom had enjoyed excellent leadership under Obong Victor Attah and Godswill Akpabio from 1999 to 2015.

Earlier, Governor Udom Emmanuel, accompanied by his deputy Moses Ekpo, former Governor Idongesit Nkanga and other top government functionaries, had earlier received the President at the Victor Attah International Airport.

Governor Emmanuel was massively cheered as he approached the Airforce Plane conveying the number one citizen to the Land of Promise.

Press Statement

Uyo Rally: APC Diverted N478m NDDC Fund To Rent Crowd for Buhari – PDP.
…Says heads of ministries, parastatals in Buhari’s Campaign Council Are Conduit Pipes

The PDP Presidential Campaign Organization (PPCO) accuses the Buhari Presidency and the All Progressives Congress (APC) of secretly drawing over N478 million from the coffers of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to rent a crowd and offset bills in President Muhammadu Buhari’s expensive re-election campaign rally going on in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State

The PPCO also accused President Buhari of directly appointing serving ministers and heads of government agencies as members of his campaign council so as to continue to use them as conduit pipes for the diversion of public funds to finance his 2019 campaign.

Our party is also aware of the protests by some eminent Nigerians, including foremost businessmen, who were named as members of the APC Campaign Council without their consent, in a desperate bid to showcase an impression that they are supporting Mr. President’s re-election bid.

The N478 million NDDC fund which was originally budgeted for development projects in the Niger Delta was diverted to renting and transportation of crowd from other parts of the country to the rally to create an impression of popularity for President Buhari in the region.

Further information at our party’s disposal, shows that the said N478 million is part of the wholesome sum of N1.2 billion allegedly siphoned in tranches from the NDDC treasury by the cabal at the Buhari Presidency and APC leaders, who have been stealing money from various government agencies to finance President Buhari’s campaign.

Our party also has it on good authority that this ignoble scheme of siphoning NDDC development fund to finance his campaign was the main reason President Buhari foisted an unpopular leadership at the management of the NDDC despite the protests by critical stakeholders in all the states of the Niger Delta.

Furthermore, the PPCO is aware of the dissention by some APC leaders over President Buhari’s unilateral listing of individuals into his campaign council as announced by his media aide, without recourse to the selection process of the APC leadership.

This further shows the dictatorial tendencies of the Buhari Presidency and his arrogant disdain for constituted authority.

Moreover, the PPCO invites Nigerians to note that unlike the PDP Presidential campaign council, which has credible Nigerians as members, most of Buhari’s zonal coordinators are persons facing corruption cases.

This casts a very long shadow on President Buhari’s integrity and further confirms that his fight against corruption is a sham.

Finally, the PPCO reminds President Buhari that Nigerians are still awaiting his explanation on the seething revelation of corrupt acquisition of Etisalat Nigeria and Keystone Bank PLC by his family members under the cover of his presidency; an issue that Nigerians are not willing to let go until he clears his name.

Politics / Press Statement Akwa Ibom State Government Rejects Police Anti-terrorism Unit by Jerry5050pmg(m): 6:07pm On Dec 27, 2018
BREAKING!!!!!
GOVERNMENT OF AKWA IBOM STATE
MINISTRY OF INFORMATION & STRATEGY

PRESS STATEMENT

AKWA IBOM STATE GOVERNMENT REJECTS POLICE ANTI-TERRORISM UNIT

It has come to the notice of Akwa Ibom State Government that the State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has concluded plans to set up an Anti-Terrorism Unit in the state. Clearly, judging from all indices that precede the creation of such sensitive anti-crime unit, creating an Anti-Terrorism Unit in Akwa Ibom at this time is suspect. The question is, of what use is an Anti-Terrorism Unit in one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria?

We are concerned that the setting up of the Anti-Terrorism Unit is part of the ground work and ploy of the opposition party in the State, the All Progressives Congress (APC), to illegally intimidate, harass and arrest government functionaries and the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the State.

As the 2019 general elections approach and political tempo assumes a crescendo pitch, a functional Anti-Terrorism Unit in the state, will certainly arrest and detain whosoever it wills, on trumped up charges of acts of terrorism. To buttress the sinister motive of the Anti-Terrorism Unit, sources say a former Chief Security Officer to former Governor Godswill Akpabio, has been redeployed to Akwa Ibom, with tactical instructions on how to successfully execute the unholy agenda of the APC leadership in the state.

While acknowledging that the Force retains the right to create units as it deems necessary, Akwa Ibom State government frowns at attempts by the Police hierarchy to portray Akwa Ibom as a terrorist enclave in Nigeria, by its planned establishment of an Anti-Terrorism Unit. It is the consensus of Nigerians that such sensitive section as the Anti-Terrorism Unit be activated and logistically mobilized to effectively function in parts of Nigeria where insurgency is rife, especially in the North-Eastern region, where lives of innocent Nigerians are lost on a daily basis.

The activities of members of the Anti-Terrorism Unit will undoubtedly cause unwarranted tension among the peace-loving citizens and residents of Akwa Ibom State. This is absolutely unnecessary at this point in time especially if you take into account, the comments of the GoC 6 Division of the Nigerian Army; who during a visit to the state publicly described Akwa Ibom state as the most peaceful in the Niger Delta region. It is also on record that not too long ago, the Emir of Kano led a team of investors seeking investment opportunities to the state. The business interest of the revered Traditional Ruler in our state further underscores the importance of the peace, safety and security the current administration has engendered. Indeed, this has been a catalyst for the fast-paced development the state has witnessed since the inception of the Udom Emmanuel’s administration.

Only recently the PDP Vice Presidential Candidate, HE Peter Obi remarked that The Economist has listed Uyo as one of the fastest growing cities in Africa. It is also imperative to add that; today, the most common remark on the lips of every Akwa Ibomite about the security situation in the state is " I can now sleep with my two eyes closed". How can such a state need an Anti-Terrorism Unit? The plan is therefore suspect.

On this score, Akwa Ibom State Government requests that the State Police Command puts on hold, the plans to set up an Anti-Terrorism Unit in Akwa Ibom, as the present administration will continue its collaboration with all security agencies in the state, including the Nigeria Police, to ensure the safety of lives and property at all times.

RE: Civil Liberties Organization Arbitration Meeting

The State Executive Committee of the party has been notified by the State Chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo of an invitation to a meeting, issued by the Civil Liberties Organization. The said meeting is to ‘discuss’ matters relating to the membership of the House of Assembly, which are already before different courts.

It was resolved that the party cannot participate in that meeting for many reasons, chief among them being the fact that these issues are before courts and therefore discussing them will be subjudice. Additionally, the choice of an arbitrator as a matter of convention, must be agreed to by the parties, not imposed by anybody, let alone a meddlesome interloper, whose bias is manifestly obvious.

Take notice that the People’s Democratic Party will not attend any meeting with the CLO or any other such organization or person, to discuss matters currently pending in courts, except otherwise ordered by the Court.

The release states "The Government of Akwa Ibom State has received with gladness the notice of the proposed visit of His Excellency, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mohammadu Buhari, GCFR, to our dear state on December 28, 2018. "

"Consequent to this proposed visit, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Akwa Ibom State is in receipt of a letter of application dated December 19, 2018, requesting for the use of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium as the venue for his reception ceremony.

"Whereas we have sent a letter, dated December 20, 2018 in response to the application, addressed to Hon. Ini Okopido, the State Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Akwa Ibom State, we are obliged, in light of the unfortunate attempt by some political actors and commentators to pit Akwa Ibom State Government against President Mohammadu Buhari and the Presidency.

Adducing reasons for the decline of the use of the stadium by government, Uko stated further "May we inform Akwa Ibom People and the entire public, of the reasons for our inability to approve the use of the requested venue,

He explained "That the next season of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) is scheduled to begin on January 13, 2018. In view of this and the fixtures of home matches for Akwa United FC, it will be practically impossible to ‘regrass’ the stadium for pre-fixed matches, if used for non-sports activities, because of the nature of pressure that such events bring on the pitch. Additionally, The Maintenance Contractor (Julius Berger) had also advised that the present atmospheric conditions being very hostile to the pitch, the facility should not be used for non-sport activities during this harmattan period, so as to avoid inflicting long term or irreversible damage to the grass on the football pitch. This reason forced the relocation of the State’s Christmas Carols festival from the earlier proposed Godswill Akpabio International Stadium to the Uyo township Stadium.

According to him, the stadium from its inception has been under a maintenance contract with Julius Berger Construction Company. They operate all the sensitive and non-sensitive components of the facility.

" They had closed for the year and proceeded on vacation (as it has been their usual practice) and are due to resume on January 7, 2018.
"The implication of this is that, the technical capacity required to activate the venue is currently unavailable, and this is not within our control."

Uko said the Ministry has however approved, in the alternative, the use of the Uyo Township Stadium for the event and guaranteed that the approved venue is in perfect condition.

Miffed by this, APC On the order of Senator Akpabio has mobilised hoodlums to pull down all gates leading in to the main bowl of the stadium which they intend to set up a stage for the rally.
It would be recalled that few months ago, the APC members had vandalised the facility of government Primary school in Eket to carry out a rally for Nsima Ekere, it's governorship candidate.

Politics / Governor Udom Emmanuel Speech At The Akwa Ibom State Xmas Carol Night. by Jerry5050pmg(m): 1:07pm On Dec 22, 2018
LET THE PEOPLE SAY AMEN

A SPEECH BY HIS EXCELLENCY, MR. UDOM EMMANUEL, GOVERNOR, AKWA IBOM STATE AT THE CHRISTMAS CAROL NIGHT, 2018
UYO TOWNSHIP STADIUM,
DECEMBER 21, 2018

PROTOCOL

Akwa Ibom people praise the Lord, Nigerians let me hear you shout a loud hallelujah, wherever around the globe that you may be watching us, permit me to welcome you all to our beautiful City of Uyo, the City of hope and dreams, a City of peace, progress and development, a City of enterprising, God-fearing and hospitable people.

2.For the fourth time since you honoured me in 2015 to be your Servant-Leader, I stand here again this evening to invite you to join our voices and raise our hands to the Heavens in thanksgiving and praise and worship to our Father and our Saviour, Jesus Christ. What a mighty God we serve! What a great provider we have in Him, what an awesome and ONLY God we have! Thank you for coming out in thousands to be a part of this yearly gathering of worshippers as we celebrate the Birth of the Prince of Peace.

3.The theme of this year’s Carol Night is apt and profoundly fitting “Let the people say Amen”. We have a million reasons to say “Amen” to our heavenly Father for turning our State into a beautiful City on Hill, whose light of progress illuminates brightly and has proven to the world that Government can indeed, be a force for good and not a force for ill.
4.When we came in three and half years ago, our nation was going through the worst economic crises in our recent history. Most State governments couldn’t pay their workers’ salaries. There was despondency in the land but through His grace, not only did we pay salaries, we went ahead to clear 10 year backlog of pensions and gratuities spanning 2001 to 2011 to the eternal joy of our labour leaders. We have maintained and kept this sacred contract with our people ever since because the welfare of our workers is of paramount importance to us. Can I hear you say Amen!

5.For three and half years since we came in, this State has remained the most peaceful in the nation, attracting foreign investors and becoming a tourist destination of choice. For three and half years, politically motivated kidnapping or assassination has not occurred; no one has been molested for expressing a different opinion, there is respect for our common humanity and values, a new tone of civility and mutual respect has taken roots and the result of this is the sunny disposition our people now project; because they can sleep peacefully at night and wake up to go about their legitimate functions without having to look over their shoulders. We give God the glory for this this great feat. We will never go back to those dark days again and the people say Amen!

6.We have a loud and thunderous reason to say “Amen my dear compatriots. Our children are receiving the best education available through the public school system. Two days ago, the stakeholders in the education sector, satisfied with the great improvements we have made in that sector and impressed with the huge resources we have spent in recruiting quality teachers for our children, the amenities we have provided and a conducive atmosphere that encourages intellectual development for our children unanimously celebrated us.

7.As the Late South African Present, Nelson Mandela once stated that education is the surest way out of poverty and ignorance; we remain dedicated to ensuring that the future of our children, their capacity to compete with their counterparts in the globalized 21 Century economy is assured. We will never go back to the years our sons and daughters were seen only as good enough to cook the meals for the society’s well-heeled. The future belongs to our children and through education, they will conquer the world. We will continue to invest in this critical sector and the people say Amen

8.Three and half years ago, garri, was sold 2 cups for 200 Naira. Today, our people now buy 14 cups of the same garri for 200 hundred Naira. Last week, I commissioned the Ibom Rice Mill in Ini Local Government Area and our plan is to flood the market with our own locally produced rice which will be readily available and affordable. I have always maintained that a society that cannot feed its people has lost the cardinal element of the Social Contract. We are committed to feeding our people and ensuring that no child goes to bed hungry and the people say “Amen”.

9.Our healthcare delivery service is nationally celebrated. A little over a week ago, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) at its National Exco Meeting here in Uyo honoured me with of the “NMA Heath Ambassador Award.” They were impressed with the huge investments we have made in heath sector, through the remodelling, rebuilding and equipping of our secondary health facilities with the most modern tools, and these were the same hospitals that had been abandoned and their surroundings overgrown with weeds. Today, the Methodist Hospital, Ituk Mbang, Etinan General Hospital, General Hospital, Ikono, General Hospital, Iquita among others are shining examples of a government that cares. We will continue to invest in this sector, because we need a healthy population to provide the needed manpower for the massive industrialization programme that we have embarked on, and the people say “Amen”!

10.Three and half years ago, when we came in, Uyo and most of the rural communities were covered in darkness and we felt that was an unacceptable situation. Through our investments by way of upgrading of the sub-stations, today, electricity has improved significantly across the State and by the New Year, we hope to launch our “electricity for all initiative”. I have always maintained that the provision of steady electricity is not rocket science, all it takes is strategic planning, and this, we have done and we intend to do more in the years to come and the people say “Amen”!

11.Three and half years ago, when we came in, we promised our people that the central plank of our governance will be on industrialization as a means of creating wealth and jobs. Today, we have delivered above and beyond our expectations, and we give God the glory for this! In spite of the gloomy and turbulent economic climate that has made most State Governments unable to pay salaries, unable to undertake capital projects, we have brought into this State several industries, and they are all there for everyone to see- from the Syringes Manufacturing Company, to the Metering Solutions Company, the pencil and tooth-pick manufacturing company, the Fertilizer Blending Plant, the Flour Mill, Coconut Refinery currently on-going, the rice and cassava mills, the AKEES mini Industrial parks etc. We are determined to make this State an industrial hub within our region. Do I hear you say “Amen”?

12.A key catalyst for development and economic prosperity is the provision of durable infrastructural amenities. America became the economic powerhouse it has been today, because President Dwight Eisenhower opened up the country through a well-planned inter-locking road network across the 48 contiguous States. Here in Akwa Ibom State, I make bold to say that we are replicating same approach in our own way. All over the three senatorial districts of the State, roads are being constructed, commissioned or work on-going. To date, in spite of what the naysayers may say, we have done over 1, 700 kilometres of economically viable roads and we haven’t even started yet. Our State owned and run Obong Victor Attah International Airport has a Category 2 runaway and work is on-going on the 2nd taxiway. To ensure that our State remains the destination of choice for foreign investors, we are launching IBOM AIR, our wholly owned Airline that will lessen the problems currently being encountered by our numerous airline travellers. Work is going on steadily on Ibom Deep Seaport project and our dream to open up our State through land, air and sea will come full cycle. When we promised all these, our naysayers said it couldn’t be done, and some are still deluding themselves that it hasn’t been done, even when they are riding on the road we have built, are enjoying the steady electricity we have provided, are being treated in the world class hospitals we have remodelled and equipped with modern amenities, and whose children are receiving quality education in our public schools. We will however, not relent, we not give in to propaganda or blackmail because ours is a journey for sustainable development not on a fleeting course for applause and the people say “Amen.”

13.Today is not a night for long speech; it is mostly the night to reaffirm God’s immeasurable blessings and love for us as a people and to ask him to continue to shine His light upon us. May the forces that want to take us back to the days we wished had never happened be confounded and be put to shame and the people say “Amen”.

14.As we celebrate the birth of the Prince of peace, may God touch the hearts of those who traffic in commodities of disunity, who have promised to unleash war on the innocent people of the State, and whose veins radiate violence; may they come to the understanding that Akwa Abasi Ibom State is peaceful and populated by law-abiding people whose sole desire is to rise to their faith of greatness and create a great future for themselves and their children. This is what I am dedicated to doing, taking this State to a higher level of industrialisation, where our people will have jobs and opportunities for growth, where the chords of unity will be strengthened, where our children’s future is assured, where our people will walk with their shoulders raised high, knowing full well that they, too, are major players in the Nigerian Boardroom and not observers on the side-lines of the Nigerian Enterprise and the people say “Amen”!

15.May the Prince of peace whose Birthday we are singing songs of praise tonight grant us a peaceful and violent free electioneering campaigns and the elections proper come next year . May the might and the will of the people prevail over any other “mights” that are being conjured or planned, because it IS ONLY GOD that gives power to WHOM HE desires and the people say Amen!

16.It is well with Akwa Ibom State, it well with Nigeria, it is well with us all! Merry Christmas and a prosperous Happy New Year!
