Nostradamus had referred to Nigeria when he talked about the rising of a prince at the trigger of a gun. The world will never be the same without one nation at the centre of Africa with a gargantuan population of over 200 million people. For those who prophesy dooms day, we will be missing quite a lot about this country if it fails to exist. There’s quite a lot we may never be opportune to laugh about and so much too the world may never be opportune to see.

If there is one country that can never solve her power needs, that country is Nigeria. Our inability to produce enough electricity for our homes and offices has being more than a uniting factor. You may be wondering how. It’s often great to hear people shout “up NEPA” in unison with dancing and hooting following the shout like a football match has being won. Nigerians defy their differences, even neighbors who don’t speak to each other, will herald the welcome of electric power with vehement tenacity.

It’s only in Nigeria that people brag about where they have travelled to even if they haven’t gotten anywhere. There is huge chance you will hear someone say, I’ve stayed in almost every state in Nigeria just to prove a point that he knows what he is saying and can be an authority. Often, it’s not always true.

Nigerians want to stay all over Nigeria even if it only happens in dreams.

Nigeria is home to the world’s fairly used items. We even have our posh name for them, “tokunbo”. Without Nigeria, there will be no store house for used machinery. We don’t like brand new items, we love them better when they have being used and disused in Europe and America. Europe and America will do all they can to keep Nigeria one.

In Nigeria, titles come first. The average Nigerian naturally has his gaze set at one traditional title early in life and will defend himself for the title once he gets it. It is an entwined attribute that sparks immediately some lucre touches hands. Nigerians will naturally call you chief once you can spare a few thousands to a few young lads and throw a feasting birthday to mark your incorrect birthday. To whom will the titles Obi, Obong, Oba, GCFR, GCON, CON, SAN etc. be given if the nation breaks into parts. Those who already hold these titles still want to keep them. Nigeria will remain one so that our titles will still be there to aim at and to keep.

Big brother is a common political parlance for Nigeria’s population and resources. Nigerians like position. An elder wouldn’t tolerate the rise of a younger one. The very fact that Nigeria has decided he is a big African brother is enough to keep him fighting for that big brother position. That means, he will do everything to ensure he remains at that position. That everything means remaining Nigerians.

Nigerians are generally a people who lack knowledge of their history. There are varying cock and bull legends of descent that one cannot tell with certainty where the groups in Nigeria are from. It is common for one to hear; our ancestor arrived from Egypt, Israel, Ethiopia or came down from Heaven. He had seven sons. The legends of almost all ethnic divisons carry similar storyline. This confusion of identity will ensure Nigerians find their identity at being Nigerians.

In Nigeria, traveling out of the country means you are well to do even if you had to go in a container without documents. It is a natural tendency for Nigerians to prove they’ve being outside the country by their Americanizing of voice accent and putting on blinks even if they had to cross over the border into Benin republic. Its good international Nigerians have Nigeria to return to where they can show off their latest accents and cheap fairly used chains. Because of them, Nigeria will remain one.

Nigerians like to brag about Nigerians even if we are not in any way affected by them. We checkout for a Nigerian or Nigerian institution on any international list and query why a Nigerian national or institution isn’t in the list,
Politics / Yorubas Are The Problem With Nigeria by Jesuschristt: 1:21pm On May 15, 2016
Is long pls read don't request summary
The Yoruba political leadership, as mentioned by Balarabe Musa, has shown itself over the years to be incapable of rising above narrow tribal interests and reciprocating goodwill from other sections of the country by treating other groups with respect. Practically every crisis in Nigeria since independence has its roots in this attitude.
The Yoruba elite and area-boy politics;
Igbo marginalisation and the responsible limits of retribution; and
The Yoruba Factor and “Area-boy” Politics.
My views on the Yoruba political leadership have been thoroughly articulated in some of my writings, prime among which was ” Afenifere: Syllabus of Errors” published by This Day (The Sunday Newspaper) on Sept 27, 1998. There was also an earlier publication in the weekly Trust entitled ” The Igbo, the Yoruba and History” (Aug. 21, 1998).

In sum, the Yoruba political leadership, as mentioned by Balarabe Musa, has shown itself over the years to be incapable of rising above narrow tribal interests and reciprocating goodwill from other sections of the country by treating other groups with respect. Practically every crisis in Nigeria since independence has its roots in this attitude.

The Yoruba elite were the first, in 1962, to attempt a violent overthrow of an elected government in this country. In 1966, it was the violence in the West which provided an avenue for the putsch of 15th January. After Chief Awolowo lost to Shagari in 1983 elections, it was the discontent and bad publicity in the South-West which led to the Buhari intervention.

When Buhari jailed UPN governors like Ige and Onabanjo, the South-Western press castigated that good government and provided the right mood for IBB to take over power. As soon as IBB cleared UPN governors of charges against them in a politically motivated retrial, he became the darling of the South-West. When IBB annulled the primaries in which Adamu Ciroma and Shehu Yar Adua emerged as presidential candidates in the NRC and SDP, he was hailed by the South-West. When the same man annulled the June 12, 1993 elections in which Abiola was the front-runner, the South-West now became defenders of democracy.

When it seemed Sani Abacha was sympathetic to Abiola, the South-West supported his take-over. He was in fact invited by a prominent NADECO member to take over in a published letter shortly before the event. Even though Abiola had won the elections in the North, the North was blamed for its annulment. When Abdulsalam Abubakar started his transition, the Yoruba political leadership through NADECO presented a memorandum on a Government of National Unity that showed complete disrespect for the intelligence and liberties of other Nigerians.

Subsequently, they formed a tribal party which failed to meet minimum requirements for registration, but was registered all the same to avoid the violence that was bound to follow non-registration, given the area-boy mentality of South-West politicians. Having rejected an Obasanjo candidacy and challenged the election as a fraud in court, we now find a leading member of the AD in the government, a daughter of an Afenifere leader as Minister of State, and Awolowo´s daughter as Ambassador, all appointed by a man who won the election through fraud.

Meanwhile, nothing has been negotiated for the children of Abiola, the focus of Yoruba political activity. In return for these favours, the AD solidly voted for Evan Enwerem as Senate President. This is a man who participated in the two-million- man March for Abacha´s self-succession. He also is reputed to have hosted a meeting of governors during IBB´s transition, demanding that June 12 elections should never be de-annulled and threatening that the East would go to war if this was done. When Ibrahim Salisu Buhari was accused of swearing to a false affidavit, the Yoruba political elite correctly took up the gauntlet for his resignation.

When an AD governor, Bola Tinubu, swears to a false affidavit that he attended an Ivy League Universi

We can rely on the presence of God's spirit to diminish our experience of fear. When He is with us, strengthening us and holding us, we don't have any reason to fear (Isaiah 41:10). God himself promises to be near to us.
Politics / The Igbo Problem In Nigeria by Jesuschristt: 12:52pm On May 15, 2016
The Igbo problem in Nigeria is that they walk their talk while the Nigerian standard is to stop at talking. A few examples will be enough:

1. Before the war but after the second coup and the pogrom in which thousands of Igbo folks were massacred in many parts of Nigeria, the East pleaded for a temporary separation of angry parties and went to Aburi, Ghana to secure an accord. They implemented their part of the accord. But the rest of Nigeria stopped at Aburi talks. The Igbo walked the work.

2. When the Aburi Accord was not implemented by Col Gowon, the Igbo promised to walk away from Nigeria. On May 30th 1967 they walked away from Nigeria. They walked the talk.

3. After the war the Biafrans were promised the 3 Rs’, reconstruction, rehabilitation, and reconciliation. The Igbo signed on to the promise. They move back to Nigeria. They moved back to the North and West and reconciled with their partners, re-starting their businesses, joined the political parties and started the participation in the rebuilding of Nigeria. They walked the walk. Nigeria, on the other hand stopped at the talk: No reconstruction and no rehabilitation, even today 2015. Nigeria is stuck at the talk.

4. This is the story of 1951, 1959, 1964, etc., elections; the story of all the censuses since independence, all appointments to federal government offices, creation of states etc. The country promises fairness in all these but walked back in implementation while the Igbo people adhered to the terms. Hence the Igbo which was shown in pre-independence census figures as larger than Yoruba is now fewer in number and the north is now twice as many.

5. The promise immediately after the war was no victor no vanquished. Can anyone in his right mind look back now and say there were no victors or vanquished. The talk and the walk are not the same. Nigeria is stuck at the talk

6. Enough is enough.

The people who talk and walk the talk would always scare others if they talk. The Igbo talk is taken seriously each and every time. Almost all Nigerian ethnic nationalities have at many points threatened secession. The 1966 Gowon speech that there is no basis for unity did not result in any severe actions for the north, Boko Haram has threatened and continue to assert that they would turn Nigeria into a caliphate to align with ISIS but even though they have the arms to do so, and are trying to “actualize” their dream, they are not taken as seriously as IPOB.

The Yoruba have also threatened session but are yet to be considered a threat to Nigeria. Nnamdi Kanu has not said anything that has not been said in Nigeria by Nigerians of other ethnic nationalities but he is the one in prison. Mallam Muhajid Dokubo-Asari of Mends who is of Ijaw nation, often seen in the same light as Igbo, and Uwazuruike of MASSOB are the only other persons who went to prison for their beliefs.

Ken Saro Wiwa, who is Ijaw, often seen as Igbo, was executed 20 years ago for standing up for his people. All the people who feel like, or live close to the Igbo, or who hold the same religious beliefs, or merely look like the Igbo have been treated with “Iron Fists” unlike the rest of the other Nigerians who had acted like they did. It is a case of different strokes for different folks. The Ogoni, the Ijaw, the Ibibio, the Efik, the Ikwerre, etc., ought to be ware.

They should be like other Nigerians. They should not talk because if they talk the walk will be presumed even before they start the walk as Mr. Kanu is now learning.

And that would be trouble.

It will be against the nature of Easterners but it might save their lives.

Politics / Alhaji Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa by Jesuschristt: 12:23pm On May 15, 2016
Political Calling

Balewa was no firebrand political radical. He may have remained a teacher for the rest of his life had southern politicians such as the flamboyant intellectual Nnamdi Azikiwe not pushed for Nigerian independence. Although not overtly political he founded an organisation named the “Bauchi Discussion Circle” in 1943, and was elected vice president of the Northern Teacher’s Association (the first trade union in Northern Nigeria) in 1948. Anxious not to be politically upstaged by the southerners, Northern leaders sought educated Northerners to serve in political posts. Balewa helped found the Northern People’s Congress (NPC), which was originally intended as a cultural organisation but by 1951 morphed into a political party due to the need to present a Northern response to the rapid and sophisticated political groupings emerging in the south. Balewa was called into political service as the Bauchi Native Authority’s representative to the Northern House of Assembly. The House of Assembly also selected him to become a member of the Nigerian Legislative Council.

Despite political involvement, Balewa remained suspicious of Nigerian unification and feared that the Northern Region would be dominated by the better educated and dynamic south. He said that “the southern tribes who are now pouring into the north in ever increasing numbers…do not mix with the northern people in social matters and we…look upon them as invaders. Since 1914 the British government has been trying to make Nigeria into one country, but the Nigerian people themselves are historically different in their backgrounds, in their religious beliefs and customs, and do not show themselves any sign of willingness to unite. So what it comes to is that Nigerian unity is only a British intention in the country.”

He later became the federal Minister of Works and in 1954 Minister of Transport and the senior minister and leader of the NPC in the House of Representatives. His conversion from regional to federal outlook came after he visited America in 1955 on a fact finding mission. He reminisced that “In less than 200 years, this great country [America] was welded together by people of so many different backgrounds. They built a mighty nation and had forgotten where they came from and who their ancestors were. They had pride in only one thing —their American citizenship… I am a changed man from today. Until now I never really believed Nigeria could be one united country. But if the Americans could do it, so can we.”
Position Without Power?

Even though Balewa was only the deputy leader of the NPC, the NPC leader the Sardauna of Sokoto sent Balewa to Lagos to become the federal Prime Minister in 1957. The Sardauna had no interest in living in the south. When Nigeria became independent in 1960, he became the newly independent country’s first Prime Minister and received the instruments of independence from Princess Alexandria (cousin of Queen Elizabeth II). Although the country’s Prime Minister, he was not the leader of his own party (the NPC) and thus remained in the paradoxical position of being a head of government that had to defer to, and take instructions from his boss (the Sardauna).

Government tompolo has finally given up hope on buhari said
the ability of Nigeria’s security

has just awarded a 2.4 Billion naira
monthly contract to the NDA
And faction of the Oodua

Nigeria”. Government tompolo
awarded contracts
running into billions of naira to
oil militants in the Niger
Delta to bomb oil pipelines in the
South-South region.
Wale condemned the resort to
militant groups rather than
Diplomatic solution with government
With this development, we wait to see
if President buhari will award
similar contract to MASSOB to protect

and whether the president will extend
similar gesture to the Boko Haram
sect, whicvh he is now considering

Politics / I’ll Fight Corruption More In 2019 If Elected – Jonathan - by Jesuschristt: 10:30pm On May 11, 2016
President Goodluck Jonathan said irrespective of the challenges Nigerians might have faced, the country remained a truly blessed one, whose diversity remained its source of strength.

Jonathan said this in his hometown to the nation made available by his Special Advise on politics John tonye

He added that he will fight corruption more if re-elected.

He said, “during our administration believes that the cost of governance in the country is still too high and must be further reduced. We will also take additional steps to stem the tide of corruption and leakages.

“We have worked hard to curb fraud in the administration of the pension system and the implementation of the petroleum subsidy scheme. We have introduced a Pensions Transition Arrangement Department under a new Director-General. Before leaving office.
“Prosecution of all those involved in robbing our country,

“Foreign travel by government personnel will be curtailed. This shall apply to all Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Federal Government. Our strategy to curb leakages will increasingly rely on introducing the right technologies such as biometrics and digitising government payments.”

He added, “Whatever challenges we may have faced in the past we are better than buhari administration, whatever storms we may have confronted and survived, Nigeria remains a truly blessed country, a country of gifted men and women who continue to distinguish themselves in all spheres of life, a country whose diversity remains a source of strength,” he said.

The President observed that 2019 would be a momentous one for the country for several reasons, including the fact that the nation would celebrate a new leader if elected.

He recalled that the British colonial authorities amalgamated the separate Protectorates of Southern Nigeria and Northern Nigeria on January 1, 1914 to give birth to Nigeria, and now calling us corrupt country.

“Year 2019, to Nigerians, will be the beginning of a new Nigeria, but the end of a corrupt existence and the beginning of another,” he said.

This, he said, will be a moment for sober reflection and for pride in all that was great about Nigeria.

While reiterating his position that the nation’s amalgamation was not a mistake, Nigerians must resolve to continue to work together as one united people.

He assured Nigerians that if re elected his administration will remained committed to the development of the country and the consolidation of peace, unity and democratic governance.

He added that despite several domestic and global challenges, Nigerians will witness many positive developments if elected, he would strive to build upon in 2019,

The President admitted that the cost of governance in the country was still too high and must be further reduced, but buhari administration is reluctant to that,

He also promised to take additional steps to stem the tide of corruption and leakages, if reelected

Jonathan also reeled out statistics on the strides he said his past administration achieved in the agriculture, health, education, water and housing sectors among others and promised to do more if elected.
