Nairaland / General / Re: My Experience With A Native Doctor by Jewelpearl(f): 1:38pm On Jan 06, 2014 |
Jerrick: Anytime I think about the scenario, I laugh and just shake my head. It was Christmas week and I went visiting my Uncle who stays in Ibadan. On 23 December, my uncle gave me some documents to get them photocopied. It's a known fact and no news that my uncle is the very stingy type. He calculated all I would spend and he made sure I won't be left with no change, imagine? .
Anyways, in no time, I was on bike and I arrived my destination. I alighted from the bike and went to the shop where I will get those document photocopied! But as I was going, I noticed something strange frm afar. It was a man dressed in red clothe with something in his hand. I watched him for some time and I noticed he was conversing with people he sees on the road. I walked very fast cos I was scared. When I asked those people in shop what the man was doing, they said he's a native doctor and that he collects money frm people whenever Christmas is near.
I could hardly swallow my saliva cos I was scared. I have never seen a native doctor except in films, let alone conversing with one. When he was close to the shop I was, I could clearly see he's got a horn with him. The horn is wielded with red and black cloth. I wanted to run at first but I saw a lady beside me, I noticed she wasn't as nervous or agitated like I was. This boosted my confidence and I decided to stay! . The native doc got to the shop I was and stopped...... Ghen ghen!!
Seriously, I was standing but 'dead' and buried in fear. I don't know maybe because of the supra canvas I wore or my nice outfit, he approached me. They've already told me the native doc approaches those he sees as rich people. Because if you see me that day ehn, u go confuse me with dangote's son #fact . So, he pointed the horn to me and said money. I initially wanted to rebuke him by calling Jesus but I never wanted to fall my own hands infront of the babe, I kept quiet and hoped for the 'worst' . I handed him 1 hundred naira. He collected it, looked at me and further pointed the ugly horn at me, he kept on saying money!
When I noticed he was going to touch me with his ugly horn, I moved back. I started to empty my pocket, swearing that the 1 hundred naira was all I had on me he danced and left... Phewww, that was close, I thought in my mind. Those I met in the shop laughed @ me that I was doing like a weakly! I too was laughing but my legs were shaking...... I left the shop and trekked home. I got home and never uttered any word to my uncle. He ignorantly asked, ''why were you that late?'' I said people were too many that we'all had to queue. A very stingy man he is ... Chai!.... Guy u fall hand, u b really coward, u cum even give am ur money, u knw wetin d guy dy use d money do... Better go 4 deliverance b4 it's 2 late ooo... |

Chillext: Once a bright intelligent young man went for IAS interview. He was asked -
Q 1. When did India get independence?
He answered - The efforts started long back; but could succeed in 1947.
Q 2. Who were the persons, who played important role in this fight for independence?
Answer - There are many people, who were involved and contributed in this. If I give a name, it will be injustice to others.
Q 3. Do you think, corruption is the greatest enemy of the country?
Answer - A committee is investigating in this matter. I can give a correct reply to this only after seeing the report.
The interview board was impressed by his original ideas. They asked him to wait outside; but also advised him not to reveal the questions, as they may ask the same questions to other candidates also.
When the young man went out of the room, Akpos inquired about the questions asked. The young man said that he had promised the interview board not to disclose the questions.
But, Akpos found a way out. "Tell me the answer you gave"..
The young man, thought it to be okay, as he was not going back on his words of "not disclosing the QUESTIONS"
When Akpos went in for interview, this is what happened.
Q 1. What's your birth date?
Akpos :- The efforts started long back, but could succeed in 1947.
Interviewers got confused...they asked next question.
Q 2. What is your father's name?
Akpos:- There are many people, who were involved and contributed in this. If I give a name, it will be injustice to others.
The board members were shocked at the reply..they said.
Q 3. Are you mad?
Akpos :- answered - A committee is investigating in this matter. I can give a correct reply to this only after seeing the report. hahahahahahaha... Funny indeed |

Speaking to IANS after meeting members of the Nigerian community in Goa, bureaucrats and police officials over the last two days, consular attache, Jacob Nwadadia, said the Goa government had until 9 p.m. yesterday to stop the illegal eviction process. “There are only 50,000 Nigerians living in India, but there are over one million Indians living in Nigeria. Thousands of Indians living there will be thrown out on the streets if forcible eviction of Nigerians in Goa does not stop,” Jacob said. The official said Nigeria was five hours behind Indian Standard Time and that there would be time for the Nigerian government to order action against Indians living there. The Goa government said yesterday it will write to the Nigerian embassy after a number of Nigerians living in Goa were found to be using only photocopies of passports and visas as proof of their nationality, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said. Mr Parrikar was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a government function at the secretariat. “We have questioned a lot of Nigerians and were verifying their documents. Most of them have only photocopies of their passports and visas. We are going to ask the Nigerian embassy to verify these documents,” Mr Parrikar said. This is part of a verification drive started by the Goa government which will inspect documents of all foreign nationals living in the state. The drive was announced after Nigerian nationals blocked a National Highway Thursday for hours protesting the murder of a Nigerian by a local drug gang. Both MPs from the state, as well as many people have been calling for a boycott of Nigerians living in Goa even as many liberals have called these statements ‘racist’ in nature. The Goa government has ordered a crackdown on all foreigners living in this tourism hub after a bitter clash between a mob of over 200 Nigerians on one side and police and locals on the other. The Nigerians, who were protesting the murder of one of their compatriots, had blocked National Highway 17 for several hours, demanding the presence of Nigerian consular officials for the autopsy proceedings.
