I have done this severally, I tried to test run by sending bulk SMS to it myself but it didn't send, I called call centre severally too I was told is not active but in reality the line can't still get bulk SMS untill I stopped calling.

Fellow Nairalanders, I am creating this thread in the crime section because what I am about to complain about is no different from a crime.

I know many will trivialize it and probably nothing will be done about it.

But I want to know why our country is like this?

How can we allow a foreign company to come in here and rip us off without regulatory bodies doing anything about it despite all the complains?

It's weighing my heart down!

Here's my grouse...

I don't try touching MTN at all when it comes to browsing data because their data burns faster than harmattan fire (every man and his dog knows this).

I normally use Airtel because I consume data a lot and I want to see value for my money. Airtel is not perfect, but at least when I do the 5K plan it can last me for up to 3 weeks despite heavy usage.

I now moved temporarily to a village because of work. On getting here I discovered there is no Airtel network -- just Glo and MTN.

The Glo is not steady at all and very slow.

I grudgingly dug out my MTN sim and started to use it. Can you imagine that these clowns have not given me a moment's rest since I started to subscribe?

I noticed this and decided to go light on what I do with my data. There are sometimes I will even put off my phone when I have no business with it just to conserve data.

Things came to a crux this week...

Just about 3 days ago, I subscribed with 2K for the 3.5GB plan. Yesterday, my phone was off for majority of the day. Since buying this plan, I have done my best to minimize usage. No watching of YouTube videos, social media videos etc. Because I scolded myself for like also being the cause of my frequent subscription.

But despite my self-embargo and all, this time around, these clowns are sending me a message this night that my data is remaining only 718MB.

What sort of injustice is this?

Can you imagine the absolute callousness?

Men, I am pained. And since no one in power is listening. Since I can't hit MTN in any other way, I am making it clear in public that from now till the end of this year I am not going to pay a kobo for data on MTN but I will browse to my heart's content with their network.

Since they want to do dark arts, let's do it together. Rubbish.

My rant is over -- now I am a bit appeased!

Hello, sorry about the DND issue. Kindly text ALLOW to 2442 to remove DND on your line. To activate DND, text STOP to 2442 and lets know if issue persist?

You may need a sworn affidavit in place of the lost SIM pack.

These are what you will need:
1) The phone number must be registered.
2) Provide the SIM pack or other evidence of direct purchase/ownership. Where SIM pack is unavailable, a sworn affidavit attesting to ownership and loss is required.
3) Three (3) frequently-dialed numbers
4) Details of your last recharge activities.
5) A valid form of photo ID, defined as International Passport, Driver’s License, National ID Card, Voters Identification Card (NINs slip with ID number are also accepted).

I recently bought a recycled sim and since then I've been getting calls and SMS from people accusing me of calling and trying to scam them, even when I don't make any calls from my line.

Please I need your help @Jidesm.. My sim went missing two weeks ago. I bought the sim in 2007 (that is the exact year but can't remember actual day/month). So I went to an mtn agent for sim welcome back with my valid id and registration details. He did the necessary thing and told me the sim will work after 24hrs.

Two days later, the sim refused to work. I returned it to the agent who told me the picture on the database does not conform with my present image. I argued it has been 12yrs since I bought the sim and I have changed physically. Also requested to see the picture. He showed a picture that isn't mine and told me that is what is on the database. It is unbelievable. I registered the sim myself back then and did updated it when I was in the varsity.

The agent told me to look for the person on the picture or the swap won't be validated. The fact is I don't know who the person. How can I retrieve my sim back? Thanks

Hello Rajman45, I am sorry for the delayed response. To Lock your SIM, you will need your line PUK number. Go to the phone settings, security, SIM lock and use your preferred 4digit code for the SIM lock. The MTN default Pin is 0000.

Hello, Checks done show that the recharge card you loaded N100 is available on your line and have been used for making calls with N82 remaining on it. May I know if you made another recharge on your line?

Hi MRoss, sorry about the lost SIM. You can SIM swap by proxy on the line. Kindly see the process below;

Requester/Proxy must provide at least three (3) frequently-dialed numbers
Proxy collection requires an affidavit & passport-photograph of the owner
Proxy requester requires affidavit sworn to by SIM owner detailing reasons for replacement, reasons for inability to carry-out replacement in person, copy of subscribers ID & valid photo ID of proxy (Photo ID defined as International Passport, Driver’s License or National ID Card or Voters Identification Card)
All documents & information provided by the proxy shall be retained for twelve(12) months.

I had a similar nasty experience, I was downloading a movie and at 120mb, MTN NIGERIA notified me with a text that I have used up 210mb and before I knew it,zap! My data was exhausted... I felt so tired and frustrated.
