Phones / Re: Please Help MTN Jos' Network Is Down. by JideSM: 6:29pm On Apr 15, 2019
Johnjanrt:
Good day fellow citizens of the federal republic of Nairaland. The subscribers to the network with the widest connection in the suburb of Jos metropolis precisely Angwan Rukuba, are currently being faced with great difficulties trying to put to use MTN network to make or receive calls, as a result this, activities involving business are on the verge of crumbling since calls are hardly made or received, the network has enjoyed wide range of patronage before now, which makes recharge and sim cards business thrive is now declining, most are beginning to seek alternatives. Again persons living around the community are bitterly complaining and saddened by the sudden turn of affairs to the worst or negative, with many beginning to see relationship with their loved ones being shattered all because of "no network". Furthermore 'no network' has suddenly transformed into the most used phrase in Angwan Rukuba, why? because at all times when calls are received the person receiving it immediately retorts with sorry 'no network'. The the condition is so sad that is gradually becoming alarming for nothing has been done about the ugly situation in spite of several complaints being made. This very condition has lasted for more than two weeks, and at the moment there are no hopes of any improvement. However if the service providers feels okay with the state of affairs, fine but I will like to assure them that in no distant future, they should be ready to lose a wide range of of customer base. Please are there person's who can help or have ideas on what to do? Please pass across until this reaches the appropriate authorities.

Hello Johnjanrt, thank you for bringing the network issue to our notice. It will be looked into. Kindly send your number through e-mail message for assistance. Also, you can contact us through this thread for any MTN related issue on your line. https://www.nairaland.com/1379574/mtn-customer-care-thread/244#77568304

NeonDee:
MTN is a very big SCAM.

Why the f*ck will a sworn affidavit be needed to do a welcome back??

What then is the purpose of biometric capture during sim card registration??

Stu.pid!! Nonse.nse!! Mad!! Ru.bbish!!

Hi NeonDee, I understand how you feel. The reason for the Affidavit and other requirements for the SIM swap is for security reasons and the rules given by the regulatory body which is the NCC. The requirements will enable MTN confirm the true ownership of the line. The valid ID card, SIMpack or court Affidavit in case you misplaced your SIM pack and the SIM registration details is what customer is requested to come with for the welcome back of a SIM.

Good evening, please how do i go about Mtn Pay as you go sim swap, because at times, the sim is active and at times a sim error message pops up or no sim card and i think it is due to the sim
panel

Hello Mobolanley, sorry about this experience. You might need to visit any MTN office closest to you with a valid ID card, the SIM card and SIM registration details to update or upgrade the SIM to 4G SIM. It will correct the error and at the same time, receive 4GB data bonus on your line.

Hi Jide,
Great work you are doing here.
Please I've been having network issues on my mtn line for days now, network just disappears for hours, can't make calls or receive, can't send SMS, can't even do my usual bank transactions on the phone. Nut funny enough when I put on my wifi the data service is seamless. I went to MTN Office and a lady checked my sim and told me it was ok after putting it in another phone and was able to make calls with it.
However, I went back home and put the sim into a new phone thinking that the old phone might be the issue, but the same network issue persists on the new phone as well.
Please what could be problem?

Hi, I am sorry about the network issue you experienced on your line. Kindly forward the affected number through E-mail message and your location for further assistance.

I mistakenly blocked my sim this morning, and it's requesting for PUK,i don't remember it,problem is i wasn't the one that registered the sim,my old friend did,and used her details, called customer care, they were telling me to make the girl call them so they will give her d numbers, babe hardly knows how to operate phone,i know she will not able to get through to them. Please how do i unlock my sim now?..
The lady stays very far away from me..jideSM

Hi Simplep, so sorry for the inconvenience. Since the line is registered with your friend's details, there is need to do security checks which she can only verify. If she's unable to operate a phone, Kindly advise her to visit the nearest MTN Walk-in centre.

Good evening JideSm,Sim recently got damaged and was told I’ll have to retrieve it,the issue with that is the sim originally belongs to my brother but I’ve been using it a long time.. the MTN website says a retrieval can be done by proxy,is that true and can I use my own ID card along with a sworn affidavit ?

Hello, I apologize for the SIM issue. You might need to visit any MTN office close to you together with the person that registered the SIM, both of you will have to come with a valid ID card, SIM pack or Affidavit and SIM registration details for the welcome back. The welcome back by proxy is for customers outside the country.

Good morning Mr JideSm, I lost my phone last Thursday. I can't really explain how it happened. It must have dropped inside one of the taxi I boarded home. I tried retrieving one of the SIM inside the lost phone because I was told it's N1,000 per SIM and that I must provide a national ID card which I did. Was told it will work within 24hours which elapsed 13 hours ago. Till now, it has not worked. Am seriously not happy with this. I can provide u with necessary details if u can help. The number am retrieving is 07037892198

Hello, I am sorry about the SIM swap experience. Checks done confirmed that a welcome back has been done on the line you provided. Kindly insert the SIM into another phone to know if the SIM is active and if not active, kindly visit the office once again for update of the SIM. Apologies.

@JideSM Hi... Got a shocker today from an MTN office where I went to retrieve my lost sim... and was told I had to get affidavit... I just smiled and walked away... what then is the use of the bio-metrics captured some time ago.... I retrieved my glo line in less than 10 mins after entering their office... same today...

Hello Hawkeye, I apologize for this. The new requirements as provided by NCC is that for any SIM swap to be carried out on a line, the customer must provide a valid ID card, SIM pack or Affidavit, SIM registration details for the welcome back to be done. Its a new rule by NCC.
