Politics / Richest Black Woman - Modupe Alakija- Denies Interest In Lagos Governorship Post by Jiganakala: 2:39pm On Jan 10, 2014
[img][img][/img][img] Posters of the richest black woman on earth according to Forbes in 2013 has been seen some areas of Lagos particularly in Ikorodu and Alausa Secretariat in relations to Lagos State governorship post in 2015 election. She has however denied her interest in politics. Even if she is interested, the politics of APC under the control of Tinubu will probably scuttle that ambition unless he approves that and the party seems to be the only one that can guarantee her ambitions if she however expresses interest.

Africa’s richest woman, Folorunsho Alakija has disowned the posters advertising her interest in the Lagos Governorship election in 2015.

Alakija in a statement urged the people to ignore whatever they may have read purportedly portraying her as a governorship aspirant.

According to the statement,”It has come to my notice, that there are posters and fliers being circulated in Ikorodu and other parts of Lagos State announcing me as a Governorship aspirant.

“This is not true and I hereby confirm that I have no such intentions. Therefore, I disassociate myself from any persons or group of persons, posters or fliers in circulation about me contesting for governorship.

“I have been paying attention to my calling from God to look after widows and orphans through The Rose of Sharon Foundation and I am also in service most importantly to God’s work as a Minister of his Word through His Ministry committed to us as the Rose of Sharon Glorious Ministry International.

“God has not called me into politics and I have never been involved in politics. Please ignore whatever you may have read purportedly portraying me as a governorship aspirant.

Her posters were this morning seen at the Lagos State Government Secretariat, Alausa inviting people to support her ambition for the governorship seat.

The caption on the posters read: “2015: Vote Folorunsho Alakija for Governor.” The posters did not specify Alakija’s political will be contesting.

It could also not be ascertained if the posters emanated from her as efforts to get her to comment on issue proved abortive at press time.

Calls made to her phone was picked by a white man who said she was in a meeting and that she would call back after the meeting, but she never did.

Alakija is seen by many as a woman of impeccable character and one that could provide the needed leadership to move Lagos forward, but with the dominant All Progressives Congress, APC, in power in Lagos, it is doubtful if she can achieve her aspiration outside the party.

In 2013, Forbes named Alakija as the richest black woman on earth as she defeated the television show-host and actress, Oprah Winfrey. By November, 2013, Forbes put her net worth at $2.5 billion. But by January 2014 her net worth had skyrocketed to $7.3 billion courtesy Mail of UK, beating Oprah Winfrey whose net worth is now $2.9 billion to the second place.

She worked as a secretary in a Nigerian Merchant bank in the 1970s and later left to study fashion design in England. She subsequently founded Supreme Stitches, a Nigerian fashion label that catered for upscale clientele, including the late Maryam Babangida, wife of Nigeria’s former military Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida.

It was during the reign of Babangida that her company Famfa Oil got an oil prospecting license which went on to become OML 127, one of Nigeria’s most prolific oil blocks. Famfa Oil owned a 60% stake in the block until 2000, when then President Olusegun Obasanjo acquired a 50% interest in the block. Famfa Oil went to court to challenge the acquisition, and the Nigerian Supreme Court reinstated the 50% stake to Famfa Oil in May 2012.

Her 60 per cent stake in the block is currently valued at around $7.3 billion, Ventures Africa reported.

Sports / Re: 2013 Glo-CAF Awards by Jiganakala: 9:37am On Jan 10, 2014
Year under review. Mikel won Europa cup with Club and won AFCOn with Nigeria. If Mikel had won it, club and national team would have been a leverage for him but most times organizers had looked at personal contribution. If we are to rate the contributions of Mikel and Yaya to their clubs and Nations objectively, we Yaya is miles ahead of Mikel. City cannot afford to wish Yaya injured or think of selling him at this present time. Cote'id voire will prefer Drogba to miss world cup than Yaya. He was the only African representative on the 23-man shortlist for FIFA's World Player of the Year award and was also chosen by supporters in the Premier League's Team of 2013.Yaya Chelsea can afford to sell Mikel today if worst come to worst and Nigeria can still present a formidable team in the absence of Mikel. If we are to rate our players performance in AFCOn, I am sure Enyeama, Emenike and Moses will rate higher than Mikel.
As it is Yaya will win the award for 2014 going by his performance so far this season unless something catastrophic happens to him and affect his performance. City may win the FA cup and look like the only team that can stop Arsenal from winning the EPL.

But I must say CAF just like FIFA can be inconsistent sometimes, it is individual performance this time, they may claim team or country performance.

If you are to be a national team coach or a club coach and you have the option of taking either Yaya or Mikel, who will you take. honest answer please

Politics / Re: Supreme-Court Quashes Corruption Conviction Of Bode George by Jiganakala: 3:44pm On Dec 13, 2013
with perceived loss of favour from the south west given the new level of APC and likely fallout with OBJ (they can settle it as a 'family affair') GEJ seriously need votes of the south west and must indirectly satisfy all current bigwigs of south west or . This to me is a political judgement. Separation of power and independent of each arm of government only works in true democratic state and not NIGERIA. I need to be convinced that any of the organs of government in Nigeria cannot collaborate with others to do what is they believe is the best for them.
Family / Re: Why Do Poor People Give Birth To Multiple Children? by Jiganakala: 5:32pm On Dec 11, 2013
Rich men are always on one thing or the other trying to raise more money and other stuff. Daily activities of rich men take their time. This, couple with their level of education and exposure helps them to plan consciously and unconsciously plan their life style including sexual relationship with their partners. Poor ones on the other hand are more often than not idle given the type of job they are mostly into - artisanship. Some even works in the same house or in the neighbourhood so they always have opportunities to go home every now and then for one reason or the other. given that their wives are mostly local traders, tailor, moin mon seller and so, whenever the man goes home for anything, there is always a possibility of meeting the wife. That's why they breed many children and the age gap between the children are always small

Just my thought grin
