Dubai: Visit visa-holders no longer need to leave
the country to amend the status of their visa to
a residency permit, the Ministry of Interior
revealed on Sunday.
Brigadier Dr Rashid Sultan Al Khadar, spokesman
for the Naturalisation, Residency and Ports
department at the Ministry of the Interior, said
that under resolution 377 of 2014, visa-holders of
all types can modify the status of their entry and
residency permits while staying in the country.
“Customers will be able to amend the status of
their entry permits electronically through a few
quick and user-friendly steps,” he said. “As a
result, visitors will not need to leave the country,
instead updating their visa status and paying all
the necessary fees while in the UAE.”
Comparing the resolution to the previous rule,
Brig Al Khadar said: “Earlier, if a person, while in
the UAE on a visit visa, happens to find a job, he
or she will have had to exit the UAE to amend
residency status. This is no longer the case. The
same applies to spouses of residents or anyone
wishing to amend the terms of their entry
permits.”
He denied media reports that one-month visit
visas will be granted an extension and clarified
that people who come on one-month visit visa,
transit visa or tourist visa can immediately apply
for another visa once they leave the country.
An official from the General Directorate of
Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) said
the decision will help those wishing to amend
their visa status without the burden of travel.
“The resolution is applicable to every type of
entry permit,” he said.
Brig Al Khadar said that the decision seeks to
save time and effort.
“Companies and visitors should submit their
applications to renew the status of their permits
before they expire to avoid any violations,” he
said, adding that “people can refer to any of the
immigration offices or ports of entry in the UAE
for the services”. |

new rule, see details and he also said no extension of visa but you can apply again immediately when your visit visa expires and you exit, instead of waiting for one month to do that. |

dre1intown: some also said it depends on the airline u chose. But I think OK to board means that your papers are OK to the airline, also checking if you are healthy to fly before they will allow you to board their plane. It shouldn't concern where you got the visa from. |

olafash: everything both refundable deposit and visa fee is #200k. Also, later I will suggest how nairaland owners will intervein to help people who are stranded because they can't use agents because of scammers, they don't have people or relative in Uae to do visa for them and can't easily get visa from Emirates and Etihad because of different rigorous requirements. i believe their is a way nairaland owners can help. if am wrong I stand to be corrected. |

justi4jesu: I have been on this thread and it centered on DIY, I have the money to pursue the visa now but I don't want to comeback here with a "story that touches". I know you might refer me back to previous page but I want current information as it is now. 1. I need current information on where I can get 90days visa (why I said current is because I saw 2 different addresses of etihad and ttservices on this thread and non of their contact is going through, even though some one told me in pg 32 that people are no more getting visa through etihad) please I need your advice on this and any other relevant info I will need to pursue this dream. Thank you and God bless you. |

please urgent answer, this is the time I need you most. my relative working in Uae (though everything was done for him by his oil company) and he normally goes and comes back after sometimes. He told me he has no idea about Uae visa, but he has a friend where I will stay (b/c where he normally stays whenever he comes that the oil company won't allow me to say there) and he will ask his friend to get visa info for me. my problem now is that his friend that will accommodate me says he has agent that will do 90 days visa for N400k when I spoke with him today. Again I don't know if he is including his accommodation money b/c he agreed to accommodate me, though I thought it will be free b/c my brother helped him in other aspects. Also, I saw etihad mandatory requirements that I need , UAE Resident Host Host Valid UAE Resident Visa copy Host Valid Emirates ID copy Host Local Contact Number Host Email Address my question is can I apply without these host stuff, how sure on getting the visa since his friend believes in agent and will not give me the info and my brother don't seem to have b/c everything was done for him by his company. pls I need all your advice is urgent. God bless you all. |
