I was at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), New Iyin Road, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria yesterday been the 18th May, 2018 to register myself as an Ad Hoc staff for the commission in the forthcoming Ekiti State election scheduled for 14th July 2018 as my usual practice in the previous elections. On arrival, I met the desk officer who directed me to the person in charge. On arrival, I introduced myself and stated the purpose of my visit, the man responded: "Are you Federal Staff?" I said No, and he further said: "We have written the Federal organizations that will participate in the conduct of the election and some of the needed are responding to the request, so you cannot apply". I objected and cited some instances where I have participated in previously held elections and the modus operandi for the the selection of ad hoc staffs which was characterized as opened to the public. He reaffirmed: "Those states are different from Ekiti". I asked him what federal establishment were written to, to which he had earlier asked me to ally myself to the establishments, he boldly declined on the premise that I have stated that I am not a staff of the federal establishment needed. I was about asking him that would a level 10 (even a level 5 officer) officer of a federal establishment decide to conduct an election under a youth corper as a presiding officer, conduct this election knowing fully well that the conduct or participation of election is totally a civic responsibility and do not in all intent and purposes criminal?

On my way back to my office, I remunated, that why did INEC all of a sudden decided to change the modus operandi for the Ekiti State elections? Of which I am persuaded that a level 14 officer (even a level 7 or lesser) CANNOT come out to conduct the election. I came to a reasonable conclusion that what Mr. Ayodele Fayose publicly declared could not be far from the truth giving that it's only students in the federal establishments can be used to conduct the election.

Police To Arrest Journalist That Leaked IGP Idris's Transmission Video.

Punch Newspapers has reported that the Nigerian Police authorities were upset with the Journalist who allegedly disobeyed a directive by the Kano State Police Command to journalists at the event not to report the IGP Idris Ibrahim’s blunder or make the video public.

According to sources, the IG’s blunder brought an abrupt end to the event, leading the police chief’s handlers to hurriedly usher him away from the venue of the event.

The said Journalist has gone underground to avoid arrest and prosecution by the police authorities.
