Business / Re: Shocking !!! How Jumia Nigeria Online E-commerce Use -Dump Merchants And Staffs by JomaxGlobal: 11:26am On Feb 24, 2016

Oga ur defense of their policies isn't the point ere, u are entitled to your opinion, so I am, as said, I sell on other platforms eg konga, etc and I know the clear difference, if we are to carry out a survey am sure they would know merchants consider most of their policies too tough and not helping business, anyways as said earlier it's my opinion, wasn't calling out for a defense. Thanks

This discussion need not be about accusations and defenses, but about brainstorming how to make the best of a not too pleasant or favourable situation. Our mindset is always that if public policies benefit some people and are a disadvantage to others, those disadvantaged should seek the keys to making the policies work in their advantage. Lamenting about the situation or lampooning other stakeholders would not produce any positive result.

For example, Konga seems to be working for you, yet you won't surf far on this business section before you find merchants that are ridiculing Konga's system. If Konga was not working for us, our next action would be to find out why and then how it can, since it is working for some! But thankfully, Konga is working for us, Jumia is working for us.

Peace.

Return period for orders, their policy of drop off, there policy of you must deliver thru jumia and many more...am not listing this for u to defend them..I have sold on their platform, likewise am on their major rival's platform and rarely had any ishh, had to forget abt jumia.

1. Return period for orders - Still unacceptable and the most touchy issue for merchants

2. Drop-off Policy - Jumia has scaled down its pickup service and opened more dropoff locations, probably because it was costly and they couldn't reach many sellers. How do you pick up orders from over 5,000 stores daily? Simply unworkable looking at the big picture. Drop-off is a more sustainable policy.

3. Must Deliver by Jumia - This is one of the critical success factors keeping Jumia as number 1 in customers' choice of where to order, particularly those that buy multiple items at the same time. This policy allows Jumia operate a shopping cart and significantly lowers shipping cost for the customer as against paying separate fee for each order, particularly when buying from multiple merhants.

@maxxy, there are facts in what you said but not all which will us is to disagree .where I will disagree with you is none of the Merchants delisted were contacted even uptil now.and also none of them have access to there statement .they can only login .i will invite some Merchants here to come and share their experience when I close from office

That is a big failure on the part of their Account Managers. Many of them really need to sit up!!!

Delivery is the hardest nut to crack for Nigeria's ecommerce practitioners. The postal service that has the infrastructure to drive ecommerce delivery is just not ready. Even the existing delivery companies are yet to provide for the vagaries of ecommerce delivery. As ecommerce practitioners ourselves, we have battled with various options but they just do not meet the quality of the service we seek to provide our customers. Our response is to build our own delivery framework that will serve us and other merchants. This will launch February 29, 2016.

Without doubt, ecommerce is the best thing to hit the retail industry in Nigeria in the recent past. Without incurring the usual cost of undertaking brick and mortar shops, sellers are now able to offer their goods and services to customers all over Nigeria and beyond.

The main drivers of ecommerce in Nigeria by no particular order are Jumia, Konga, Dealdey and Kaymu. However, due to logistics and other challenges, these platforms are open to only sellers in Lagos and a few other cities, thus depriving sellers elsewhere of the lucrative opportunities of trading on established platforms. Starting January 2016, we will be creating a platform to enable sellers in Benin sell on Jumia, Konga, Kaymu, Dealdey and other ecommerce platforms.

Education / Re: PLEASE ADVISE: I Want To Sue My School by JomaxGlobal: 6:14pm On Dec 22, 2015
Danny2701:

That is where am going.
1. Why will the school approve a shop for someone without the person having a reliable source or referee that can find this guy.

The shop owner is not an agent of the school and the school is therefore not liable for your loss. You were negligent in processing your printout and you can be arrested and charged for forgery including conspiracy to commit forgery

2. Why won't the school reinstate me even when i was ask to produce my waec original in which i did and they crossed check to see that am not lying.

Having presented a forged result in the first instance, any school will and should treat any other document emanating from you with caution. If this school is a public school, they have tens of thousands of students to deal with and you cannot be tendering false documents and wasting the time of the verification team.

3. Why will they wait till i finish my academics before issuing out a letter of expulsion to me after i paid all my necessary dues. (That fraudulent)

The school is at liberty to verify your credentials at any time. In fact, they can verify it many years after you have graduated and withdraw your certificate if there are any issues.

Your best option lies in appealing to the school authorities to take another look at your case and threatening a lawsuit will not help you, neither will going there with a lawyer make much of a difference. Instead, Go with a responsible member of your faculty and start the appeal from here.

Please i want you guys to advise me on this. Thank you

Business / Re: Confusion As Jumia Delivers Order Placed On Konga by JomaxGlobal: 10:03pm On Aug 17, 2015
The conclusions reached by the author of this article and Konga's Head of PR are absolute crap, and they know it. The author has very little understanding of how the emerging ecommerce platforms in Nigeria are structured, hence making the write up sound like a Konga sponsored advert.

As a frontline seller on both platforms and others, we think (if the story is true) it is pretty obvious that First Electronics (for whatever reasons) preferred to source the item on Jumia for resale to the customer, and put the details of the customer as the delivery address, more so as Jumia does not allow self-fulfill. What should worry Konga is that the item was probably obtained cheaper on Jumia, hence reducing their competitiveness, and not the grandstanding by the PR that Jumia has probably opened a store on their platform.

Indeed journalism has gone to the dogs!!!
