Then silence. Not even a single ADR.
Ordered 1st GCMS notes April 2018 everything looked perfect.
Then complete silence.
Ordered 2nd GCMS notes July 2018, this never arrived
Wrote Raplh who confirmed Eligibility and Security not yet started.
More silence, not even a ghost update
October 3rd 2018 ordered 3rd set of GCMS notes. Arrived Nov. 1st. Still same as April notes. My file had not been touched since March 2018. Eligibility and Security not yet started.
Wrote a 3rd mail to Ralph on Nov 4th who was gracious enough to respond (Ralph responds only once). He confirmed that my eligibility and security was not yet started and my application cannot be expedited.
Nov 8th, like a dream ! my PPR!

Checked email and profile this morning and saw nothing.

By 2pm during my lunch break, I saw a mail notification, I wanted to ignore but decided to check.

I saw a mail from donotreply@cic.gc.ca that I have an update on my profile. I was excited, that finally I am getting a ghost update / adr.

I logged into my cic acct and saw my profile was updated. I was so excited, thinking it was just a ghost update and that finally my file was receiving attention. I wanted to log out but I felt the nudge to proceed and click on view complete application which I did.

Nothing seemed to have changed, my background check was still in process, I was about to log out again, when I felt that urge to scroll further down to the mail section.

I saw I had a new mail, titled request letter. I already concluded that it was an ADR for fresh bank statement. Love and behold, it was the almighty PPR.

I wasn't expecting it to come without an ADR for updated POF since my application had been pending for almost 10months. I lost appetite immediately, and was was just screaming. I couldn't share the news with my colleagues, so I just lied to them that my husband got a new job!.

I am immensely grateful to God Almighty who did not put me to shame. Delay is not denial. Though it tarries, it must surely come.

Thank you all for all the love and support.

Off to take my pictures and submit tomorrow.

This year has been so challenging. hubby and I lost our jobs, all our money tied at POF, we were feeding from Hand to mouth and struggled to pay school fees. Infact this September, we had to change their schools to a very cheap school.

God bless you all.

Take it easy oh, the best you can do is to tell him its not an acceptable thing to do. If policy change people will get by. Funds are not easy to acquire these days. God help and provide for us all.

My journey started in 2016 when my husband's cousin told me about it but she advised me to use an agent. When i contacted an agent and he told me to bring 3000 dollars, i just knew there was no way my husband was gonna agree to that and he was also not ready to do any research so i just dashed myself brain and started researching on Nairaland straight.. knew i could get almost all the information i needed here.
I wrote ielts twice and still didnt have 8 in listening so husband decided to be the primary applicant since he had more work experience than me anywayz. He wrote 4 times and kept having 6.5 in either reading or writing. I was so frustrated because i was pregnant and really wanted to have my baby abroad and husband had told me to either choose using our money to give birth in the US or to pursue the Canada immigration plan, i chose the latter because i thought i could give birth in Canada and the whole family still gets to become permanent residents but God was just doing Yimu for me i guess. Anywayz, our point was sitting at 411since last year and when the cutoff points were reducing last year, i was very hopeful that it would get to 411 and one of the most painful days of my life was when the draw was out that day and it was 413 ( this is because the draw was following a particular trend, reducing my 4 to 5 points). I cried that day enh, i couldnt just be strong any longer. To cut the long story short, i advised my husband to go through the provincial route and that was the beginning of another torture...... watch out for part 2 ( ghen ghen ghen ghen) heheheh

Alright I will do just that and get back to you.
Does a foreign work experience count if its not Canadian work experience.
Thanks.

mcstan18:

Hello, I guess you need to take further look at your entries while using the CRS tool. The bolded seems to be contradictory. Does your husband have Canadian education and work experience? Does he (or you) have a PR or citizen sibling in Canada? I think that score is quite high for a 39 year old. Get that sorted first and then we look into this your concern together.
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program- Connect Here Part 5 by jordie: 1:38pm On Oct 07, 2018
No the masters is from UK. No siblings either.

Torkwase1:

Is the Masters from Canada? If not I believe he still has to evaluate it. And his CRS is really high. Any siblings in Canada?

Good afternoon house.
pls I need your imput. We are planning on using my husband as PA since he has an international masters degree and work experience and with him CRS ia about 486. We also don't have to evaluate his cert if am right.(save money)
Now that he found out that weac has to be evaluated we can't use him as PA anymore due to the difference in age. His passport says 39 which isnt same as waec age.
Using me as PA crs is 443 but with the increase in crs score and age palava(next birthday its a minus 5). I am confused, dont know which route to take. Has anyone here been in this situation. Please kindly advise. Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. I have used the CRS cal and either of us can do it
I will be the PA cos he spent over 7yrs in UK and to get reference letters for jobs done will be a hassle. Thanks

joo2018:
I think you should first use the CRS calculator to know who will be PA between you and your hubby. Then you can tackle the self-employment issues. Only the PA will need to validate his work experience as long as it is not Canadian.

Good day everyone.

Ihave tried to assimilate as much as I can from part 1 but not so many people have used self employ for EE.
Since graduation I have always worked for family. I dont have a pay slip since its a family business since 2004. I started out on, my own 2009 till present. The company is registered by my Mum she's late now. I do pay tax but unfortunately in my own name cos the company name is used by me and my siblings. We offer different services.
My husband also is self employed, we have a school he manages.
He has an MSC while I have a Bsc.
please can you give suggestions on how to go about this. Am kinda confused.
thanks.

I haven't found any. Checked with about 5 hospitals. None wants to do VBAC and the bills am getting for CS in Pennsylvania is crazy. Lowest is 28k and I will get about 25% discount since its self pay.
My head is just ringing. I have just few weeks to go.

My Wife travelled to Washington yesterday via virgin atlantic and he Fit to Fly from Havana Specialist hospital stated she was 35 weeks and she was almost denied boarding on the plane. She had to be assessed and passed fit to fly by the manager at the airport yesterday.

Best if you are 34 weeks or lower. No need for fit to fly 2k at the airport. That wasn't asked for.

Hope this is helpful and not too late.

Good day everyone, in d spirit of giving back

I travelled on Sunday 13th August on Virgin Atlantic. Had almost 4hrs layover at Heathrow and took off to the US. Arrived JFK few minutes to 11 pm.
Lots of people. Queue was crazy, used the self check in. I think thats the new thing they do now. You get a receipt and move to immigration.
My line was quite fast. Got to the officer

Him: hello
Me: hi
Him: why are you in d US today?
Me: for vacation and to deliver my baby
Him: why US?
Me: for all the opportunities it offers
Him: why aren't you a US Citizen?
Me: my parents didn't give me that.
Him: you are !!!yrs old. You have this number of years to be in the USA.?
Me: my parents didn't give me that opportunity.
Him: how much do you have?
Me: !!!$
Him: you have !!!!¡$?
Me: yes
Him who will you be staying with in Pennsylvania ?
Me: my elder sister.
Him: your sister lives here?
Me: yea
Him: you declared food. What type of food you have.?
Me: fish
Him: stamps my passport. Congratulations. Have a nice evening.
Everything took just about 5min

Off I left. Picked up my luggage and met my sis outside. We left for Pennsylvania that night. Arrived there around 4am.
Started my hospital search.

No matter what, JFK is easy breezy. Just be yourself and above all ask God for favor.
I wish others coming all the best, will update the family as the journey continues. Stay blessed.

Can we stop flogging this issue over and over again. Whatever choices we make in life we live with it. Truth or Lie. I don't think it's in anyone's place to castigate and Judge. I keep seeing a lot of that on the thread this days. Posters are asking for advice not judgement. Am sure they know what they have done, they just need a way out not " you lied", "wait till you renew and you are refused. To all who have shared their experiences for us to learn God Bless you. I have learnt a lot more. Will share mine too by God's grace.

Congratulations Ma.
Am in a similar situation too.
Most hospitals or birth center won't allow VBAC. Travelling next week by God's grace.
olukemiyemi:
Good day people.

I wanted to share my experience has I have gained a lot reading from what other people share on here. This is the second baby I've had in the US. The first was in Virginia, while I stayed in with family in Maryland. Virginia is significantly cheaper depending on your choice but distance was a major challenge for me. This time we decided to do Houston because it was going to be more cost effectve.

I traveled with Turkish airline on May 27th to JFK and spent time with my friends before heading out to Houston. Point of entry was surprisingly easy, I did self check in, printed out a receipt and only thing I was asked was the kind of food I had on me. No questions asked my purpose of visit or my big tummy (I was huge). I was really grateful for that.

I had gone very far with planning for Houston before I noticed in the document one of the doctors sent me that they do not allow VBAC (virginal birth after CS). I found out later that this was a Texas thing, most hospitals will not allow a woman that has had a previous CS try to get birth vaginally. This is my 3rd, I had a VBAC with my second, so I didn't see any reason to have a planned C-Section. We searched for Drs would do VBAC and we found one who uses Ben Taub. The cost estimates was significantly higher than using Oak bend or any of the other cost effective hospitals/doctors. The Dr's fees alone was about $5400 for normal delivery, so I contacted a midwife/birthing center as back up.

I visited both the midwife and the Drs at Ben Taub (they are 5 minutes apart in distance) but we eventually settled for the birthing center because my chances of having a natural delivery and staying within my budget was better. We had Ben Taub as backup in case going to the hospital became necessary.

My baby came on the 12th of July at the birthing center, it was easy and the best birthing experience of my three births. Baby came 2 weeks late and was happy to not have been under any pressure to be induced. Antenatal visits was easy and schedules flexible, service was very personal, midwife came home to check on us after the birth, they had free group prenatal classes and breastfeeding support meetings.

I know people on here have made a valid point of the risk of using birthing centers but for VBAC mums like me, who really want do things naturally and are low risk, its definitely an option. Also a cheaper option if you are low risk.

I got the birth certificate in less than a week, I've got the passport and also got approval for the Nigerian visa on arrival in less than 24 hours. I sent an e-mail with all necessary documents to the immigrations email address (oa@nigeriaimmigration.gov.ng) and was very impressed to hear back from them same day.
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by jordie: 10:32am On Aug 05, 2017
Some birth centers are even more expensive than hospital. 7yrs ago I paid 4k to deliver in a birth center. And my recent enquiry at another birth center I will be charged 7500. Some hospitals don't even charge that much
The most important thing is you don't use the US government services for free.
No amount is small if we consider the crazy exchange rate in naija today. I wish all of us well in this journey.
mamanjai:
Mallam! Must she state that categorically It worked for her and didn't work for other pple. Why discourage it totally?? Why should where and how I birth be a major concern for VO officers? If its wrong to use a birthing center, am sure the VO officers would have empahised it the way they always emphasis paying your total Bill. If i gave birth at home or in the car nko? I just feel as long as you pay your bills and get ready for unexpected circumstances during the birth then you are fine.

So I tried scheduling her interview using the correct email only to get a notification that user personal details match that on another user email.
