if with the 2 times it happened i was the first to get to the office i meant even with the 2 times it happend |

@ 2buff when i said i am hardly late to work and max 5 mins - if with the 2 times it happened i was the first to get to the office . the organisation is not big on people coming to work early . the so called managers get to work pretty late and never seem to notice someone that is strolling in at 10am . (i get in way before that time ) i know it is legally wrong but i dont like the defeatist attitude we Nigerians usually have, we let go and allow ourselves to be cheated and it is business as usual and then it happens to the next and the next person. i just feel something can be done. ( mind you , like i said i do not want the job back in any way) just want to correct something that is wrong ( if i can in my own little way ) |

lastpage: @ last page to answer all your questions * i worked witht he organisation in question fro a year and half * i never received a query ( not even verbal * am never late for work neither have i been unduly late ( not more than 5 min at the most) * my letter just stated that employment has been terminated with immediate effect i know it is possible that the employer or manager wriggles out by saying that they didnt fire me cause am pregnant , but if you lay off a pregnant woman ( if you have to ) shouldnt you pay adequate compensation? i have asked my husband he says i should let go, according to him why waste energy? i should concentrate on the baby coming". i naturally dont like been cheated . i left a bank for this job thinking i will have peace of mind from the stress of marketing . now this happened i want to fight it but through the right quarters so it wont happen to any other person again in that organisation i dont want to go and hide in my little corner and say all is well ( i know all will be well) , ( mind you my husband can adequately take care of me and the baby and my little daughter while am at home ) i just hate the feeling i have now. tom.jerry:@ jerry- i guess since you know i visit nairaland alot you already guessed it to be me . yes am the one. am good i just need support in this battle and doing it for the right reasons i dont want the job back just dont want a repeat performance for anyone . thank you all for your response , i hope i have been able to answer all the questions raised |

thanks , and yes am speaking about myself, the normal thing every one says is dont worry move on . but i feel the need to get justice i know the labor law frowns against it strongly but i need to know what exactly the law says thanks once again |
![]() |
i know there are rules and laws against this in more civilised countries but seriously can an employer (not a bank) terminate the employment of a pregnant woman will appreciate it if there is a proper channel where one can seek redress. thank you |

The shops are fuckin expensive guy, it goes 4m/year and it two years rent. But the good thing is that at the expiration of the two years the shop is all yours. But u must first buy the application form for 150k @Imeobong i don't know where you got your information about the pricing from but i can tell you categorically that you are wrong. the shops are not your after two years and the cost isn't 4M it varies in pricing like i said earlier it is per sq meter the shop isn't your after two years the rent is renewable and you pay service charge |

@poster, you don't have to forfeit your money , write to the airline requesting for a refund, quote the ticket number and other relevant information drop it at their head office, it usually take about 30working days and you will be called upon to pickup your refund but please bear in mind that the airline will remove charges . wish you d best |

i meant render redundant |

Outstrip: @ outstripe, she was paid half salary . that is obtainable in Nigerian banking ( esp. if u have a wicked boss) when u have stayed away from your desk for more than a 3 months then when you stay away for more than 6months they will take a decision either you are asked to resign or rendant redundant. the unrest in the banking industry too doesn't help matters as regards people's jobs |

employee welfare and banking in Nigeria is very different from what is practised int he outside world( we practice kangaroo banking in Nigeria). find out what the bank policy says, if Gtbank did it for a staff doesn't mean SCB WILL DO IT . their policies are different. i am an ex banker and i know for sure that for you to be flown out side the country for treatment you must be from the level of a SM (senior manager) and above, or maybe by chance you have an "esther who spoke to the king on your behalf " and you found favor the truth is we are inhumane to our staff in Nigeria esp. in the banks . unfortunately bankers are made to sign all sort when they are employed which states all these in fine print and but we somehow expect them ( management) to change when we need them. even though the late banker was a BOM she could have been a middle level officer may her soul rest in peace , it is very sad but may God help us all and keep us in good health . |

Posted by: tkjoke Insert Quote It seems that all the CBN appointed managers want to do is retrench staff. Was it the overhead cost/management expenses that made these banks unprofitable? Or the high incidence of unrecovered loans? @ tkjoke - it is not only CBN appointed managers that are laying off people, UBA did in dec and another is still on going now in UBA , they are just keeping it hush hush |

hmmm, are you sure the doctor in question is not frustrated , i have a 16 months old daughter and during her last trip to the pediatrician the doctor told me she was 'hyper' ( my daughter blabbers alot and her nick name is area scatter) she advised that i should get her engaged with leggos and puzzles so she can channel her energy into something educative and constructive. i have never heard that you need to discipline a child when he blabbers please o! don't mind this nonsense doctor you have a perfectly healthy child. like my friend usually says in yoruba: je ki omo sere , nigba ti a bi omo ode |

congrats on the birth of your baby when i had mine about a year ago this was what i did , u can substitute the palm oil for olive oil then us a soft sponge (preferably the glove sponge so u can have a firm grip on your baby) rub the olive oil all over your child then use warm water and the sponge to clean your baby, you have to be careful as you will definitely have a screaming child so my advice place your child on your thigh while doing this. as regards molding what i did was i used warm water to compress the joints the stomach and back ( i never threw my baby in the air it is far too risky) when you are done, you child will look brighter and sleep better trust me! i hope this helps 2 Likes |

i have read this post and i agree to a reasonable extent. am an HND holder and work with a financial instition in Nigeria i had my promotion regularly and i know it is the grace of God that has put me here but i would want to say HND holders still have a Chance i have several friends who have HND too working in other financial institions ( even though they do not have additional qualifications yet) so with God on your side, the sky is the limit. i agree we HND holders need to improve on our qualifications so as not to be kicked aside but the ultimate is hard work and force on your goal don't give up and God wont give up on you good luck!! |
