WHO IS OWELLE ANAYO ROCHAS OKOROCHA?
The man everyone knows to be Rochas Okorocha today was born 59 years ago into the humble family of Chief Nicholas and Josephine Okorocha of blessed memory.
Rochas is an Igboman born in Ogboko, Ideato South LGA of Imo State.
Through the dint of hard work, his parents lived in Barkin Ladi, Jos Plateau State as petty traders, where Rochas learned the art of trade; selling oranges, coconut, pineapple, garri, etc, and later selling second-handed clothes known as Okirika/Gwonjo. His mastery of the Hausa language is as a result of these trades.
He is an engineer of ideas and one who makes alot out of nothing. Through the business of selling used clothes while in secondary school, Rochas bought his first television, a lady's
motorcycle for his mother, and a Hiace Toyota bus for his business at the age of fourteen. Even his teachers became his customers and his school holidays saw him go through major markets around Plateau State such as Mangu Friday market, Bokos Thursday market, Dafo Tuesday market, and Cheka Saturday market to make ends meet.
Rochas sold cars while in the University, buying cars from Cotonou, the Republic of Niger, Jos, Kano, and selling them in the eastern part of Nigeria under the Rochas Motors Business in Jos, Plateau State.
From the proceeds of this business, he built his first school; the Kings Commercial College Vom at age twenty-one. One that has gone on to produce so many great Nigerians, especially from the Northern part of Nigeria.
My first million Dollars came from my time as a commission agent for the sale of Balenga Dam project equipment auction by a British company; Baffour Beatty Construction Company. This sale was made by my referral, to Late. Chief John Olowuya from Lagos State for 10 million Dollars and saw me getting a commission of 10% off the sale price. An equivalent of 1 Million Dollars.
With this, my business grew larger and spanned into real estate, fleet motor sales, aviation, pharmaceuticals, the hospitality niche, and cement distribution.
In my business prowess, I supplied the first one thousand (1,000) Prado SUVs to the Nigerian Police along with other many fleets sales. But it was Real Estate that has given Rochas major wealth, as he
contributed immensely to the real estate development in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja even before it became the Federal Capital.

The former Governor of lmo State and Senator Representing lmo West senatorial District, Senator Rochas Okorocha, has described the Kaduna-bound train attack, as a national disaster.

He also described the incident as a new dimension to the nation's security challenge.

Senator Okorocha urged Nigerians, both at home and in diaspora, to remain steadfast, praying for the nation and the victims of the ugly and shocking incident.

He prayed to GOD ALMIGHTY, to grant the souls of those who lost their lives in the mayhem, eternal rest. And grant members of their respective families, the fortitude to bear these great losses.

Okorocha also prayed to God, to give those wounded in the attack, including those in the hospital, quick recovery.

He expressed optimism that one day, the challenge of insecurity, confronting the nation at the moment, will become a thing of the past.

Okorocha noted that the Kaduna- bound train attack, was also an eye-opener, to a new dimension to the issue of insecurity on our roads and explained that steps must now be taken, to ensure that such incident does not happen again.

Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha was born on 22nd September 1962 in Ogboko Ideato south, Imo state. Rochas is a man of service, Rochas Okorocha is a man of service. He loves to serve and holds the belief that a leader must be one who is willing to accommodate people regardless of their individual differences, ethnic backgrounds, beliefs or religion. Rochas political career begun in 1999 when democracy was restored, he was commissioner on the federal character commission and a member of the national constitutional conference. Rochas competed in the people’s democratic party (PDP) he lost to Achike Udenwa. Rochas moved to the all Nigeria people's party (ANPP) and ran for the people's party presidential nomination but a disappointing result in the primary in 2003 ended his ambition. He returned to the PDP and President Olusegun Obansajo appointed him as special adviser on inter-party affairs. This is to note also, Rochas is regarded as a political maverick in Nigeria, with contempt for party hierarchy and traditional structures. From the time of his first foray into electoral politics, he has been a strong critic of governmental corruption and ineptitude. Rochas formed the Action Alliance (AA) party in 2005, he returned to the PDP and in September 2007 indicated interest in becoming PDP national chairman, after governor Ikedi Ohahim. Rochas Okorocha later decamped from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to run as APGA candidate for Imo State Governor in the April 2011 national elections. But, in December, 2010, APGA suspended Rochas from the party because of an issue described as anti-party activities pending an investigation of his conduct. Regardless, Okorocha went on to campaign as APGA governorship candidate and won.
However, due to irregularities of the result, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the Imo State 2011 gubernatorial election inconclusive. Eventually, the final results had Okorocha of the APGA declared winner with 336,859 votes.
In 2013, Rochas decamped from APGA to the All Progressive Congress (APC). He then contested in 2015 general elections for a second term in office with the former deputy speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha as a major opponent. The election held on 11 April, 2015 after the first date was shifted by six weeks due to perceived security threat.
Eventually, the election was also declared inconclusive. INEC thereafter ordered a re-run for the governorship election due to the 79,000 difference between the votes scored by the leading and the second candidate. After the re-run, Rochas Okorocha won the 2015 Imo State governorship election.

The birth of APC is traced back to 6th February 2013. APC is the merger of CAN, CPC and ANPP. This ruling party has its core value and objective as inspired by the principle of justice, fairness and equal distribution of Nigeria’s socioeconomic resources. APC passionately support democracy, democratic institutions and processes as a means of achieving progress and development under the law. APC believes that while sovereignty resides in the people, their will shall be exercised thorough free, fair and peaceful elections. We saw this in 2015 When Muhammadu Buhari was elected president of the federal republic of Nigeria, the elections conducted was hitch free, again in 2019 Buhari defeated his close rival Atiku Abubakar with a total of three (3) three million votes and was issued the a certificate of return may 29th 2019.

This is 2022 and the next presidential election comes upon next year 2023, this will be a time for Nigerians to elect their leader for the next four (4) years. How amazing it will be for Nigerians to choose their candidate from the APC. APC is an inclusive party which carries everyone along. Oh! It is no news that there has been a plethora and internal crises in APC the president Muhammadu Buhari has state that the party has the capacity to resolve its differences. Everyone looks forward to 26th March the party’s convention. Why are people this excited?, do Nigerians have their candidate already? Will their candidate come from APC? Conventions serve to get party delegates and members organized and excited for an upcoming election.

The purpose of life is not to be happy, it is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well. Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha is a man of honour, a man who lives with compassion and who has stayed true to making a difference since 1998 when he founded Rochas Foundation Inc. The Rochas foundation has produced over six thousand (6,000) great Nigerians who are doing exceptionally well in different fields such as; law, medicine, science. A good number brace themselves as army officers, air force officers, police officers. At the age of 55 Owelle Rochas launched the project 55-5-55 meaning fifty-five (55) African countries to provide five (5) orphans yearly for free education up until university level which marks his 55th birthday celebration. Presently Rochas foundation college of Africa has orphaned children from all over the African continent. These includes: Ethiopia, South Sudan, Lesotho, Gambia, Uganda, Republic of Niger, Guinea e.t.c. This is born out of his ingenuity for education, Rochas doubles his academic honors; First school leaving certificate at st. Joseph’s primary school, Barkin Ladi Plateau state, GCE/WAEC at Juladaco high school Kassa Barkin Ladi Plateau state, Diploma in public administration at University of Jos, advanced diploma in law, security and conflict management at University of Jos, post graduate diploma in management Benue state, Indeed love of learning is the most necessary passion in it lies true happieness. Rochas also holds career positions as president Nigerian Red cross society, President Rochas group of companies, pro-chancellor African business school, former chairman board of Nigeria airspace management agency. I see APC’s candidate being his excellency Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha and not just being a candidate but the man who will take on the mantle as president federal republic of Nigeria.

1) Owelle Rochas Okorocha does not collect a salary as a senator. Surprising right? But it's a fact. While most political office holders seek more means of amassing wealth through their office, Rochas does not.
2) During his tenure as Governor of Imo state, Transparency International and the Bureau of Statistics adjudged Imo as the least corrupt state in Nigeria.
3)Over 22,000 Nigerian youths have benefitted from his Foundation (Rochas Foundation), through free education and empowerment. The Foundation, which was founded in 1998, long before he got involved in politics or assumed office is located in various parts of Nigeria and Africa.
4) Rochas Okorocha is very passionate about women's empowerment. He voted in favor of women's inclusive bills, which sought to increase the number of women in power and decision-making. According to him, "Women should not be seen as second-class citizens but as equal partners."
5) He is also a progenitor of free education. He believes poverty should not hinder access to quality education, seeing that education is not just a way to live, but life itself, a catalyst for untapped potentials.
His bill for Free basic education made it into the constitution.
6 During his governorship tenure, Infrastructural impact was recorded, medical, employment, academic, and ICT amenities were provided.
