Islam for Muslims / Re: Muslim Singles, Let Us Have A Talk by justdtruth: 11:12am On Sep 15, 2011
a great discussion so far i would say for the singles. something i had enjoyed too. Well, if the married can share their experience, these qualities are most times relevant just before you say i do.
if you are ready for marriage and looking out for him or her then its actually time to learn something different.
its not about not knowing a book by its cover but knowing that its got the relevant chapters.

Politics / Did You Receive The Vote Right Text Message? by justdtruth: 10:06am On Mar 23, 2011
At about 11.15pm yesterday, my wife received a text message from 'Vote Right'. I taught probably that it would be an advocacy for a free and fair election or perhaps a message similar to the various voters education campaign i have seen on TV. I was wrong. I got mine at exactly 2.59am and that got me worried. Is this the way we want to play politics in nigeria?

the text message stated the complicity of buhari in the 53 suitcases issue and what ribadu said about the issue. how ribadu exonerated patience jonathan on the money luandery issue and that buhari executed three young men for drug peddling using retroactive laws, was high handed and gave himself and his officials immmunity.

Araboy:

Last two posters your attitudes were same ones I was talking about

Can you tell us about your personality?

seriously, cos your response shows you probably have the symptoms i described. and believe me, if you have that kind of personality, no GOOD PERSON no matter their religion and where they come from would be friendly with you.

Islam for Muslims / Re: Why Nigerian Muslims Are Not Nice And Friendly As Their Xtians Compatriotes? by justdtruth: 12:03pm On Mar 03, 2011
I can not be nice and friendly with you when you come to me with filth and indecency. I have decided never to be defensive and would advice that brothers and sisters should not be defensive whenever people ask questions like this. rather , let us demand an explaination on the circumstances that surround their experience.

When an immoral person comes to me blowing the dust of his rusty heart all over the place, insulting my sensibilities by questioning and condemning my values while demanding i accept his indecent ways and celebrate his obsessive inequity and obviously, I see that he has been trained to demand what he can not give. if i decide to give him a breathing space cos of course, i can not force him to change his ways, would you say i am not being nice and friendly.

if you feel people are not being nice to you, ask yourself, what have i done or what are my doing wrongly

Politics / Re: Nigeria To Commence Islamic Banking Soon – Sanusi by justdtruth: 10:21am On Feb 07, 2011
Well, education they say is very important and must be compulsory so that the disease, ignorance, which is endemic, can be nipped in the bud at any stage of its manifestation. I wish we had a vaccine.

For those who do not know, please note for the records that Sanusi did not introduce Islamic banking and in fact a number of the reforms that he has executed were not really his agenda. He has stated this himself over and over again. There has been a blue print for the banking sector done by the Soludo team which is what Sanusi team is following. The kudos to him is for the fact that he has the balls to execute some of the items on the blue print.

Islamic banking had been in Nigeria for some time. Several financial institutions have been operating windows for some of the Islamic finance products such as the takaful, halal funds with names such as ethical funds, ethical investment etc. However, there has not been a proper regulatory framework for the operation of this sector of our financial system.

Jaiz International Bank which was established in 2003 is the first and for now the only existing Islamic bank. This was before Soludo became the CBN governor in 2004. The bank could not however start operations fully because the minimum capital base for banks in Nigeria was raised to 25 billion naira. The bank is expected to start operation soon haven been able to attain the capital base benchmark.

About the regulatory framework, this was extensively done by the CBN under Soludo. The first draft was available by March 2009 before Sanusi became CNB governor.

Do you know that framework such as this had to be sent to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for consideration before a final draft? Do you know that the convectional banks like Stanbic IBTC and Diamond Bank are also at the driving seat? In fact do not be surprised if the banks start operation of the Islamic banking window before any so called Islamic bank because they already have departments working on this and more surprisingly they have more non-muslims as members of this dept cos they showed more interest.

I find some comments on naira land ridiculous particular from people who are resident in Nigeria because you have the opportunity to have better details. Nigerians in Diaspora can be excused cos we know that some of them, I mean some for clarity sake, know next to nothing and may not have other means of info except what they read on internet or forum like this.

If you do not like Sanusi or Islam, that is your wahala. But please, do not come to public forum like this to dance to the beating of the drums of your ignorance.

I have attached a copy of the final framework from CBN for those who love to be educated. Others are also invited.

Islam for Muslims / Re: Mistakes Of Salaah by justdtruth: 1:58pm On Feb 02, 2011
We are commanded to lower our gaze, and look at the point at which the head rests during sujood. The Prophet (SAW) warned: 'Let those who raise their gaze up during prayer stop doing so, or else their sights would not return to them. i.e. lose their eyesight].' (Muslim)

The Prophet (SAW) said: 'I am commanded to prostrate on seven bones the forehead and the nose, the two hands [palms], the two knees, and the two feet.' (Sahih Muslim) Applying the above command necessitates resting the forehead and the nose on the ground during sujood.

The Messenger of Allah (SAW) warned: 'Were the one who crosses in front of a praying person to know the consequences of doing so, he would have waited for *forty better than to cross in front of him.' (Sahih Bukhari and Muslim). *The forty in the tradition may be day's months or even years. Allah knows best.

someone comes late to the salah then he annonces his arrival with a loud Allahu akbar. some will also tell the imam to slow down for them by shouting SABR SABR or Inna llaha ma ha sabireen or stamping thier feet. imagine the effrontery of the latecomer. this is very wrong. Always come in gently and do not disturb others

Don't rush and don't be too slow (it is JAMA'H prayer) go with Muslims in timely manner (in the drawing below it is almost end of Fatihah and some one is still in Sujood)

The IMAM reads loudly and you should listen, but not that you read loudly and others are disturbed by your reading. in fact, the IMAMS reading is enough for everybody behind him.

Yawning loudly during prayers is wrong, try to avoid it. Will you do this if you are meeting an important person at work? Remember, when you feel like Yawning, that you are facing ALLAH so, try to suppress it and you will succeed. Respect your presence in front of Allah

Bad smelling breath from mouth due to eating some type of foods (onions and garlic) or from clothes (socks, unclean clothes) are annoying to other people and should be avoided

New line start MUST be directly behind the IMAM wherever he is. People start their Jamma Salah some times in a corner. That is wrong

Islam for Muslims / Re: Mistakes Of Salaah by justdtruth: 1:05pm On Feb 02, 2011
There are some particular mistakes that are made in salat that are can best be described as bidiah i.e innovation. one of the beauty of Islam is the universality of the religion. salat should be observed anywhere in the same way. when however you observe some strange things, it is important to note that some of these may be mistakes.

some examples:

1) Its start with the adhan (call to prayer). the popular adhan on radio lagos always start with the recitation of Quran 41 vs 33. a lot of people have taken this to be the norm. you will observe that that some muazin in our local mosques will also recite the verse before the actual adhan like they are together. this is a mistake. the adhan has not change and can not change. it does not start with any verse of the Quran and does not equally end with any.

2) The chanting of any thing before the iqamah or after the iqamah such laillahailallah or subhanallah. sometimes you would observe that some folks would even be shaking like they are dancing to the song or whatever they are saying. this is completely wrong.

3) after the recitation of suratu fathia, the imam and the congregation would shake their body like a slight turning to the right and left while saying ameen.

4)Joining the prayer while the imam is in rukuuh. a common mistake here is that people would not commence the prayer before joining the prayer. every salat commences with the takbiratu ihram i.e the saying of Allahu akbar and raising of the hands to the shoulder or the ears and ends with the teslim, asalamualaikum waramotullah. what people do is to join the imam at the point of rukkuh without first performing the takbiratu ihram. this is mistake. it means people join the salat but do not perform the salat.

well, i will advise that we remain steadfast and try as much as we can to educate ourselves on the dictates of the deen. knowledge, that is what is missing. and unfortunately some of us are not humble enough to want to listen to others.

Allah has made his religion beautiful and the prophet has taught it in a beautiful way. all we have to do is to just radiate the beauty.

we have to continue to strive and not give up. i pray that Allah guides us all.

mukina, i do not agree that we do not want to address these issues within ourselves. we do. obviously not on a forum like NL cos for sure it would be derailed
Islam for Muslims / Re: Curious About Islam, facts About Islam. by justdtruth: 4:19pm On Jan 25, 2011
@lagosboy, jazakumullahu khairan

that is one of the challenges we have today. virtually everything particularly as it affect muslims and islam is taken from the general perpective. it is important to be specific. not just about the action but the person and the circumstance surrounding the event. That is the sunnah of the prophet (SAW)
Islam for Muslims / Re: Dajjal, The Anti-christ Has Been Existing by justdtruth: 3:42pm On Jan 25, 2011
The information above is not correct. The prophet (SAW) gave the description of the dajjal.

Huzaifah (R.A.) reported from the prophet (SAW), Dajjal will be blind in his left eye. He will have very thick hair on his body and he will also have his own type of Jannat (Heaven) and Jahannam (Hell) with him: Although his Jannat will appear as Jannat, in reality it will be Jahannam and likewise though his Jahannam will appear to be Jahannam, in reality it will be Jannat. (Muslim).

It is wrong to come up with assumptions on who the dajjal is. this is misguidance. May Allah save us from such.

It is wrong to try to interpret the words of Allah or His prophet in another way other than how it has been said.

pls seek forgiveness and desist from acts like this.
Crime / Re: Robbers Bomb Bank With Dynamite In Lagos: Police Is Worried About Their Safety by justdtruth: 1:53pm On Jan 25, 2011
I laugh at some of the stories we read in the newspapers. Robbers attacked a bank with dynamite and other sophisticated weapons, operated for over 3 hrs without police intervention. The joke; someone was actually able to count them, give a description of how they grouped themselves and how the operation was done. If you have ever witnessed a situation like this in Nigeria before, you would definitely laugh at such stories.
Unfortunately, this is the same scenario you have with a lot of other stories in Nigeria. There is hardly any news out there that states exactly what happened. I would advise that we see this news as a means of knowing what is going on only but not as facts.
Politics / Re: Central Nigeria ( Jos ) Attack Sparks Clash With Soldiers: Police (afp) by justdtruth: 1:40pm On Jan 25, 2011
frosbel:

On Monday, protesting villagers set soldiers' tents ablaze and threw rocks at troops, according to Akano. Soldiers opened fire in self-defence, he said.
Four people were seriously wounded in the clashes, including one man and three women, said Akano.

Even when rocks were thrown at them, soldiers opened fire in self- defence.

How i wish we can always look beyond the ethnic or religious angle to our crisis to see the real underlying cause.
Politics / Re: Central Nigeria ( Jos ) Attack Sparks Clash With Soldiers: Police (afp) by justdtruth: 1:32pm On Jan 25, 2011
i think it will be important to understand how our security operatives work to be able to appreciate what is going on in Jos. If you have ever witnessed police or military intervention of any kind in any civil unrest such as a street fight as we sometimes have in Lagos and a shot is fired by the thugs or cult guys at the police particularly the MOPOL or the soldiers, you would think there is a war. That fired shot is like a command that they should shoot at sight. God! I will forever remember the odua people congress saga in Lagos and my youth service period in cross river. I remember a discussion I had with my MOPOL neighbour about this criminal act. You know what he told me? Whenever there is a crisis and the rampaging youths for by any means have guns and for any reason shoot at the police or the military, runnnnnnnnnnnnnn for you life.

Its not a question of the ethnicity or religion of the soldiers, its about the training they have had, their orientation. if you have ever been told to your face that you are a bloody civilian. i am sure you will understand this.

Imagine a situation where youths from a community attacked another community over a land dispute. Some of the youths from the community that was attacked were furious that the police did not do enough to stop the crisis. A genuine anger you would say. While protesting the police action, some police men were assaulted and a distress call was made by the police. the response; shelling of that community.
The victims; the innocent members of the community

Come to think about this: Why should CBN introduce Islamic Sharia Banking to all the banks without recourse to their corporate beliefs. Some of the banks are owned by christians. We live in a secular state. So i ask why must it be so if SLS does not have an islamic/ethnic agenda. I need an explanation.

Please provide an evidense for your statement above and i will give you the explanation.

such stories will not hit the headlines bc its not sensational and so it will not drive the sale of the newspaper. There are several more cases even in other states.
